    I have a value in a properties file that I want to increment while the build is running. The goal is to copy a set of files and append a number to the front of each in order to maintain the order in which they were copied into the directory. I am using the <propertyfile> task as follows: <propertyfile file="jsfiles.properties"> <entry key="file.number" type="int" operation="=" value="10" /> <entry key="file.number" type="int" default="010" operation="+" value="10" pattern="000" /> </propertyfile> Then I do the copy: <copy todir="${js-in.dir}"> <resources> ... </resources> <chainedmapper> <flattenmapper /> <globmapper from="*.js" to="${file.number}-*.js"/> </chainedmapper> </copy> This does exactly what I need it to EXCEPT that instead of the following output: 010-file1.js 020-file2.js 030-file3.js ... I get: ${file.number}-file1.js ${file.number}-file2.js ${file.number}-file3.js ... What am I doing wrong?

  • smallest mysql type that accomodates single decimal

    Database newbie here. I'm setting up a mysql table. One of the fields will accept a value in increment of a 0.5. e.g. 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, .... 200.5, etc. I've tried int but it doesn't capture the decimals. `value` int(10), What would be the smallest type that can accommodate this value, considering it's only a single decimal. I also was considering that because the decimal will always be 0.5 if at all, I could store it in a separate boolean field? So I would have 2 fields instead. Is this a stupid or somewhat over complicated idea? I don't know if it really saves me any memory, and it might get slower now that I'm accessing 2 fields instead of 1 `value` int(10), `half` bool, //or something similar to boolean What are your suggestions guys? Is the first option better, and what's the smallest data type in that case that would get me the 0.5?

  • URL shortening: using inode as short name?

    The site I am working on wants to generate its own shortened URLs rather than rely on a third party like tinyurl or bit.ly. Obviously I could keep a running count new URLs as they are added to the site and use that to generate the short URLs. But I am trying to avoid that if possible since it seems like a lot of work just to make this one thing work. As the things that need short URLs are all real physical files on the webserver my current solution is to use their inode numbers as those are already generated for me ready to use and guaranteed to be unique. function short_name($file) { $ino = @fileinode($file); $s = base_convert($ino, 10, 36); return $s; } This seems to work. Question is, what can I do to make the short URL even shorter? On the system where this is being used, the inodes for newly added files are in a range that makes the function above return a string 7 characters long. Can I safely throw away some (half?) of the bits of the inode? And if so, should it be the high bits or the low bits? I thought of using the crc32 of the filename, but that actually makes my short names longer than using the inode. Would something like this have any risk of collisions?   • Truly declarative language?

    Hi all, Does anyone know of a truly declarative language? The behaviour I'm looking for is kind of what Excel does, where I can define variables and formulas, and have the formula's result change when the input changes (without having set the answer again myself) The behaviour I'm looking for is best shown with this pseudo code: X = 10 // define and assign two variables Y = 20; Z = X + Y // declare a formula that uses these two variables X = 50 // change one of the input variables ?Z // asking for Z should now give 70 (50 + 20) I've tried this in a lot of languages like F#, python, matlab etc, but every time i try this they come up with 30 instead of 70. Wich is correct from an imperative point of view, but i'm looking for a more declerative behaviour if you know what i mean. And this is just a very simple calculation. When things get more difficult it should handle stuff like recursion and memoization automagically.     In a simple stock management database, quantity of new stock is added and shipped until quantity reaches zero. Each stock movement is assigned a reference, only the latest reference is used. In the example provided, the latest references are never shown, the stock ID's 1,4 should have references charlie, foxtrot respectively, but instead show alpha, delta.   • Jquery draggable not working in chrome/safari

    I have created a page that uses ajax calls to load product images. The jquery code for drag, drop and clone would not work when in the index.php page so I moved it to the page that gets called to request the products as each product has drag, drop code created for it. Works fine in FF, even IE but not in Safari or Chrome.   • Getting unpredictable data into a tabular format

    The situation: Each page I scrape has <input> elements with a title= and a value= I don't know what is going to be on the page. I want to have all my collected data in a single table at the end, with a column for each title. So basically, I need each row of data to line up with all the others, and if a row doesn't have a certain element, then it should be blank (but there must be something there to keep the alignment). eg. First page has: {animal: cat, colour: blue, fruit: lemon, day: monday} Second page has: {animal: fish, colour: green, day: saturday} Third page has: {animal: dog, number: 10, colour: yellow, fruit: mango, day: tuesday} Then my resulting table should be: animal | number | colour | fruit | day cat | none | blue | lemon | monday fish | none | green | none | saturday dog | 10 | yellow | mango | tuesday Although it would be good to keep the order of the title value pairs, which I know dictionaries wont do. So basically, I need to generate columns from all the titles (kept in order but somehow merged together) What would be the best way of going about this without knowing all the possible titles and explicitly specifying an order for the values to be put in?

    I'm having a really weird problem with a third party web service that uses an ODBC connection to Oracle 10.2.0.3.0. I've written a .NET client that generates the same SQL as the web service so I can find out what's going on. The web service is hosted by IIS 6 that's in x64 mode so we use Oracle x64 client. The oracle client version is 10.2.0.1.0. I have a table that looks like this (I've removed some columns and names): SQL> describe tablename; Name Null?     I'm writing a program in C# that will go through a bunch of config.xml files and update certain elements, or add them if they don't exist. I have the portion down that updates an element if it exists with this code: XDocument xdoc = XDocument.Parse(ReadFile(_file)); XElement element = xdoc.Elements("project").Elements("logRotator") .Elements("daysToKeep").Single(); element.Value = _DoRevert; But I'm running into issues when I want to add an element that doesn't exist. Most of the time part of the tree is in place and when I use my code it adds another identical tree, and that causes the program reading the xml to blow up. here is how I am attempting to do it xdoc.Element("project").Add(new XElement("logRotator", new XElement("daysToKeep", _day))); and that results in a structure like this(The numToKeep tag was already there): <project> <logRotator> <daysToKeep>10</daysToKeep> </logRotator> <logRotator> <numToKeep>13</numToKeep> </logRotator> </project> but this is what I want <project> <logRotator> <daysToKeep>10</daysToKeep> <numToKeep>13</numToKeep> </logRotator> </project>

    I have a Rails + Apache2 + Postgres + Passenger application running in production mode in OSX Snow Leopard. The application serves as a data warehouse for another application in the cloud so I'm constantly getting API calls to my OSX production build. After a recent reboot, I'm finding a ton of httpd processes stacking up and eventually requiring an apache reboot. I haven't changed any settings, everything was running fine before.     Hey, I have UAC that registers to a UAS, after registration the UAS sends me an OPTIONS request, what should I answer it? only the audio media streams? Update I: Allow me to explain myself better... if I want to invite someone to a session I USE the INVITE method and negotiate the media then, for that specific session. But once I register to the server, and it asks me for OPTIONS, then what should I supply, everything my client supports? once I answer it would it deduce that every INVITE I would request from now on would use these medias? or would I need to supply new media with every request?   • MySql: Query multiple identical dynamic tables.

    I have a database with 500+ tables, each with identical structure, that contain historical data from sensors. I am trying to come up with a query that will locate, for example, all instances where sensor n exceeds x. The problem is that the tables are dynamic, the query must be able to dynamically obtain the list of tables. I can query information_schema.tables to get a list of the tables, like so: SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name'; I can use this to create a loop in the program and then query the database repeatedly, however it seems like there should be a way to have MySql do the multiple table search. I have not been able to make a stored procedure that works, but the examples I can find are generally for searching for a string in any column. I want to specifically find data in a specific column that exists in all tables. I admit I do not understand how to properly use stored procedures nor if they are the appropriate solution to this problem. An example query inside the loop would be: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM device_table WHERE sensor_value > 10; Trying the following does not work: SELECT device_name, sensor_value FROM ( SELECT table_name FROM information_schema.tables WHERE table_schema = 'database_name' ) WHERE sensor_value > 10; It results in an error: "Every derived table must have its own alias." The goal is to have a list of all devices that have had a given sensor value occur anywhere in their log (table). Ultimately, should I just loop in my program once I've obtained a list of tables, or is there a query structure that would be more efficient?

All of them arrive in the end to the error of about 1e-13. Is it normal to have such a significant error accumulation over only a 1000, 10000 increments?

Is it because I've included O_CREAT ? It the file is already created, shouldn't O_CREAT be ignored ?

    Whoever answers this question can claim credit for solving the world's most challenging SQL query, according to yours truly. Working with 3 tables: users, badges, awards. Relationships: user has many awards; award belongs to user; badge has many awards; award belongs to badge. So badge_id and user_id are foreign keys in the awards table. The business logic at work here is that every time a user wins a badge, he/she receives it as an award. A user can be awarded the same badge multiple times. Each badge is assigned a designated point value (point_value is a field in the badges table). For example, BadgeA can be worth 500 Points, BadgeB 1000 Points, and so on. As further example, let's say UserX won BadgeA 10 times and BadgeB 5 times. BadgeA being worth 500 Points, and BadgeB being worth 1000 Points, UserX has accumulated a total of 10,000 Points ((10 x 500) + (5 x 1000)). The end game here is to return a list of top 50 users who have accumulated the most badge points. Can you do it?

The exception only occurs in one section of the web-client: Application settings.P6 web and the P6 API are deployed on the same WebLogic (10.3.5) node running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 installation.   • Python raw strings and trailing back slashes.

    I ran across something once upon a time and wondered if it was a Python "bug" or at least a misfeature. I'm curious if anyone knows of any justifications for this behavior. I thought of it just now reading "Code Like a Pythonista," which has been enjoyable so far. I'm only familiar with the 2.x line of Python. Raw strings are strings that are prefixed with an r. This is great because I can use backslashes in regular expressions and I don't need to double everything everywhere. It's also handy for writing throwaway scripts on Windows, so I can use backslashes there also. (I know I can also use forward slashes, but throwaway scripts often contain content cut&pasted from elsewhere in Windows.) So great! Unless, of course, you really want your string to end with a backslash. There's no way to do that in a 'raw' string. In [9]: r'\n' Out[9]: '\\n' In [10]: r'abc\n' Out[10]: 'abc\\n' In [11]: r'abc\' ------------------------------------------------ File "<ipython console>", line 1 r'abc\' ^ SyntaxError: EOL while scanning string literal In [12]: r'abc\\' Out[12]: 'abc\\\\' So one slash before the closing quote is an error, but two slashes gives you two slashes! Certainly I'm not the only one that is bothered by this? Thoughts on why 'raw' strings are 'raw, except for slash-quote'? I mean, if I wanted to embed a single quote in there I'd just use double quotes around the string, and vice versa. If I wanted both, I'd just triple quote. If I really wanted three quotes in a row in a raw string, well, I guess I'd have to deal, but is this considered "proper behavior"?

  • Returning Database Blobs in TurboGears 2.x / FCGI / Lighttpd extremely slow

    Hey everyone, I am running a TG2 App on lighttpd via flup/fastcgi. We are reading images (~30kb each) from BlobFields in a MySQL database and return those images with a custom mime type via a controller method. Caching these images on the hard disk makes no sense because they change with every request, the only reason we cache these in the DB is that creating these images is quite expensive and the data used to create the images is also present in plain text on the website. Now to the problem itself: When returning such an image, things get extremely slow. The code runs totally fine on paster itself with no visible delay, but as soon as its running via fcgi/lighttpd the described phenomenon happens. I profiled the method of my controller that returns my blob, and the entire method runs in a few miliseconds, but when "return" executes, the entire app hangs for roughly 10 seconds. We could not reproduce the same error with PHP on FCGI. This only seems to happen with Turbogears or Pylons.   • "You have already activated" message even when using bundle exec

    I am installing gems in my Gemfile in shared path as Capistrano does by default, and when I run: bundle exec rake assets:precompile RAILS_ENV=production I get: You have already activated rake 0.9.2.2, but your Gemfile requires rake 10.0.4. Using bundle exec may solve this.
