• AFP AD ACL permissions issues with external drive

  Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 connected to an AD domain system serving AFP shares to Mac OS X 10.5.8. If I create a share on the the internal RAID of the server with an ACL that allows RW to all ("Domain Users"), then it works, but a share created identically on the external RAID appliance (Drobo v2) doesn't. When the share from the Drobo is mounted, it shows no sign that it has any ACLs associated with it: neither in the Finder (Get Info), nor when checked via the terminal with "ls -lae". The Drobo does show that the ACLs exist when I ssh into the server and check it there, but when the clients mount that share, they just... ...disappear. Any thoughts?

• How does Google Analytics aggregate the Count of Visits (Frequency & Recency Report)?

  Here's my simple understanding of Count of Visits: Each person that comes to my site gets one "count" for each visit. They are put into a bucket of people with the same number of total counts -- if you visit twice, you are in the two bucket, if you visit six times, you are in the six bucket. From there, a report (Frequency & Recency) makes a line for each bucket and reaches into the bucket and totals the number of people in that bucket, putting that total in the second column. My Question: Will a two month report automatically put someone into two buckets, and put them on two separate lines in the Count of Visits table? This explaination makes it seem like a two-month long report will put the same person into a bucket twice, one bucket for each month. The two-month report will then show that person's visits on two different lines, instead of aggregating them. Example for Clarification: Bob comes to my site three times in January and seven times in February. I run a report for Jan 1 -- Feb 28. Will Bob be on both the Three Count line and the Seven Count line, or will he be on the Ten Count line?

• Use MvcContrib Grid to Display a Grid of Data in ASP.NET MVC

  The past six articles in this series have looked at how to display a grid of data in an ASP.NET MVC application and how to implement features like sorting, paging, and filtering. In each of these past six tutorials we were responsible for generating the rendered markup for the grid. Our Views included the <table> tags, the <th> elements for the header row, and a foreach loop that emitted a series of <td> elements for each row to display in the grid. While this approach certainly works, it does lead to a bit of repetition and inflates the size of our Views. The ASP.NET MVC framework includes an HtmlHelper class that adds support for rendering HTML elements in a View. An instance of this class is available through the Html object, and is often used in a View to create action links (Html.ActionLink), textboxes (Html.TextBoxFor), and other HTML content. Such content could certainly be created by writing the markup by hand in the View; however, the HtmlHelper makes things easier by offering methods that emit common markup patterns. You can even create your own custom HTML Helpers by adding extension methods to the HtmlHelper class. MvcContrib is a popular, open source project that adds various functionality to the ASP.NET MVC framework. This includes a very versatile Grid HTML Helper that provides a strongly-typed way to construct a grid in your Views. Using MvcContrib's Grid HTML Helper you can ditch the <table>, <tr>, and <td> markup, and instead use syntax like Html.Grid(...). • Impact on SEO of adding categories/tags in front of the HTML title [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Does the order of keywords matter in a page title? All StackExchange sites add the most-used tag of a question in front of the HTML title for SEO purposes. On Stackoverflow for example this is usually the programming language, so you end up with a title like python - How do I do X? This has obviously an enourmous benefit on SEO as the programming language is an extremely important keyword that is very often omitted from the title. Now, my question is for the cases where the tag isn't an important keyword missing from the title, but just a category. So on Biology.SE for example one would have questions like biochemistry - How does protein X interact with Y? or on Skeptics medical science - Do vaccines cause autism? Those tags are usually not part of the search terms, they serve to categorize the content but users don't use those tags in their searches. How harmful is adding tags that are not used in searches in terms of SEO? Is there any hard data on the impact this practise might have on SEO? The negative aspects I can imagine, but have no data to show that it is actually a problem are: I heard that search engines dislike keyword stuffing and this might trigger some defense mechanisms against that It's a practise associated with less reputable sites, a keyword in front that doesn't fit the actual title well might look suspicious to some users. It wastes precious space in the title shown in search results.

• Output to TV only works if monitor is plugged in

  I am trying to use my TV as the sole output for a computer. The computer has a graphics card with 2 outputs - one RGB and one DVI. I have the RGB output going to the TV, and when the DVI output is connected to a monitor, display works fine on both the monitor and the TV. If I turn off the monitor, or even turn off power to the monitor, the TV continues to display the desktop. If I unplug the DVI cable from the monitor (remember that the monitor doesn't have any power at this point), the TV stops presenting the desktop and displays a "Not Accepted" message. When starting up the computer, the TV displays fine, but stops working at the "press ctrl-alt-delete" screen unless the monitor is connected. How can I make the TV show the display without the monitor? The TV is an LG RT-42PZ45V. The graphics card is an ATI Radeon series HD4350 512MB GDDR2. The computer is running Windows Server 2008 r2.

  Hi all, I was working gladly with my VM on my local Hyper-V server. But, after installing some updates on the host the system only show the famous blue screen. I couldn't start my host so I reinstalled it and configured as new Hyper-V server. My VM was in a another disk to prevent this happening but I don't know how to add it as a new VM on new server. In addition, this VM has various snapshots so, how can I add this VM to my new Hyper-V server? UPDATE: I can't do Export/Import because my server crashed before I can't do it.

• Is there a program that compares image files and reports if they are exactly the same pixel-wise?

  I'm making a regression testing suite for some rendering software. I need to be able to load an image file (PNG or TGA, ideally) and compare the pixel values to a standard approved image. I'd like it to be command line driven too, so I can make a batch file to run all the tests. All the compare utilities I have found so far either show differences (I just need it to fail if they are different) or compare all the bytes, meaning that meta-data will trigger a fail. Anyone got any suggestions? I am not a coder, and can only barely cobble a batch script together. Thanks for any suggestions.

  I have a blog hosted on Community Server 2.1 (old version). I want to transfer it to WordPress (.com). I have tried exporting it to the BlogML format, but it failed with an exception. I saved a copy of the full RSS feed, by setting the # of posts to show to a huge number, save, then lower it back. I have all images and do not mind having to upload and rename them one by one. There must be a way to read that RSS file and either directly import it into WordPress, or for a more complicated path, transform it with the proper XSLT into the BlogML (or other) format, to import it into WordPress?

  How do i disable the notifications of particular errors? A little background to my issue. During the installation of the Kaspersky, it disables all the windows firewall for all except the domain. I have remedied this by creating an offline policy in Kaspersky which enables the Kaspersky firewall when out of the office (ie not connected to the office network). The problem now is that users in the office now see a notification showing that the firewall is disabled even though it’s enabled in all scenarios. It’s just that work and home show as disabled when the clients are connected to the office LAN.   I was using copywipe on hirens boot cd to copy a Windows installation to a new drive. unfortunately for me, I was rushing, I set the source drive as the USB drive running hiren/copywipe to the Windows partition, I think it has destroyed the partition tables and replaced with hiren boot USB ones. disk: was NTFS 40 / 250 partitions disk: now FAT32 145 / 145 partition I have used several partition recovery tools, diskdigger to name one, they all show a recovered partition, but its the hiren stuff. any advice would be a fantastic help To all that have similar issues I recommend using TestDisk (undelete partition) software. you can get this software as part of hirens boot cd. see answer

• Does purposely linking to an invalid URL and then using 301 affect SEO?

  On a section of my site, I am currently using .htaccess rewrites to put the ID as part of the URL instead of in the query, like so: RewriteRule ^([a-z_]+)?/?tours/([0-9]+)/(.*) /tours/tour_text.php?lang=$1&id=$2&urlstr=$3 [L] For example, if someone goes to /en/tours/12/some-text-here it will rewrite it to /tours/tour_text.php?lang=en&id=12&urlstr=some-text-here. However I don't want the users to be able to put just any text, so if they type in the wrong some-text-here part it will 301 redirect them to the right page. This works perfectly, but I can see a potential problem potential arising when localizing the website, so I just wanted to make sure it's not actually a problem. How it is now, if someone goes to /en/tours/12/some-text-here, the anchor to the Spanish version of that page will be /es/tours/12/some-text-here (i.e. only changing the "en" to "es"), and then the script will then 301 them to the correct Spanish text (something like /es/tours/12/algun-texto-aqui). And the reverse will also be the same. The anchor on the Spanish version to the English version would be /en/tours/12/algun-texto-aqui and then they will be forwarded with 301 back to /en/tours/12/some-text-here. Basically, the anchor changes the language and the 301 changes the string at the end. So I have two questions: Does purposely and permanently having invalid URLs on your site that get 301'ed to the correct ones have any effect on SEO? I could make it just show the correct URL to begin with, but this is a significant amount of work due to how I am handling the translations, so I would prefer just to 301 them. Will the invalid URLs that are contained in the links be added to the search engine indexes even if they get 301'ed to another page?

  I wonder what is the best way to have Javascript loaded content indexed by search engines. I know that search engines don't execute Javascript, but I am thinking more of an progressive enchantment. I am creating a responsive website, and on the home page I will have some sections about most visited products and recommended product that I plan to load depending on the device detected. These products will be in sliders with thumbnail images and names of the products. If mobile is detected slider content will not load, ant the link to the external page will be shown. I know that external content will be indexed via link to those resources. Where will the users be directed from search in this case? To the external page or home page? Will it be bad for SEO if I show only product names on front page so they can be indexed and hide them with CSS? What is the best way to index that content and possibly direct users from search to home page? Also, i've seen the Ajax crawling but iI would like not to use that if there is any better way.

Code Templates First feature is about Code Templates. We added some basic templates to improve your Editor experience. You will be really fast with it! If someone don't know what Code Templates are, they are piece of code (snippet) which is inserted into editor after typing its abbreviation and pressing Tab key (or another one which you define in Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> Expand Template on) to epxand it. All default Twig Code Templates can be found in Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> Twig Markup. You can add your custom templates there as well. Note: Twig Markup code templates have to be expanded inside Twig delimiters (i.e. { and }). If you try to expand them outside of delimiters, it will not work, because then you are in HTML context. If you want to add a template which will contain Twig delimiter too, you have to add it directly into Tools -> Options -> Editor -> Code Templates -> HTML/XHTML. Don't add them into Twig File, it will not work. Interpolation Coloring The second, minor, feature is, that we know how to colorize Twig Interpolation.   This is my first experience with ejabberd. Spare me if I miss anything. I have installed ejabberd server on ubuntu 12.04 AMI on Amazon EC2. I have successfully installed the server, added the admin user and host in the config file and opened up reqd ports (5222, 5223, 5269, 5280). Now I tried to login the web admin interface using the admin user id and password. I could log in, BUT I could only see one section, Virtual Hosts. No Control Lists, Access rules, Nodes and Statistics Menu items on the left. Also, when I click Virtual Hosts Menu item, the page that comes up does not show anything. Here are the screenshots

  I'm writing a custom password reset application that uses a validation technique that doesn't fit cleanly with ASP.NET Membership Provider's challenge questions. Namely I need to invoke a workflow and collect information from the end user (backup phone number, email address) after the user logs in using a custom form. The only way I know to create a cookie-based session (without too much "innovation" on my part) is to use WIF. What other standard objects can I use with ASP.NET MVC to create an authenticated session that works with non-windows user stores? Ideally I can store "role" or claim information in the session object such as "admin", "departmentXadmin", "normalUser", or "restrictedUser" The workflow would look like this: User logs in with username and password If the username and pw are correct a (stateless) cookie based session is created The user gets redirected to a HTML form that allows them to enter their backup phone number (for SMS dual factor), or validate it if already set.   I made a pause script for the game im developing for android. I added the script to the GUITexture I created and placed on the top right side of the screen.The issue stands at the part where if the player clicks the pause button then clicks resume then he wants to pause the game again.When he clicks pause the second time the buttons dont show up unless he clicks again. • Diagnosing Bootstrap 3 Glyphicon Button Icons Not Showing

  I have a glyphicons in Bootstrap 3. They work very nicely here: latest Chrome latest Firefox latest Safari latest Explorer latest Android At one facility, the glyphicons don't show. The buttons come up blank. How do I troubleshoot? They are security sensitive there. I don't have systems or network access.. and am not in a position to request that. Troubleshooting with advanced tools isn't going to happen. Here's what I have access to: Internet Explorer 9 Behind a very secure firewall Sometimes, I think the glyphs not showing is the IE 9.. but my code should be addressing that. Sometimes, I think their firewall is blocking the CDN. Can I enter a URL into a browser to test if the CDN is there? Sometimes, I think my FB share and like buttons upset this facilty's firewall, and they tie the whole thing down. Any suggestions at how I begin to research this? Or maybe you have an outright idea for IE 9 and glyphs (though my code is very-very close to the demo's which work).

• On WHM/cPanel how can you tell which packages are in use?

  I want to find out a) which packages are currently in use, and b) which accounts are using them, so I can do some housekeeping. If I go to 'Show Reseller Accounts', it'll list all the accounts by reseller and I can see which accounts use which, so I could go the longhand route of counting through them one by one, but I wondered if there's a way of getting a simple listing. NB: I've seen that if I go to 'Edit Reseller privileges & nameservers' for one of my resellers, I'll see a 'Package limits' table which has a 'Current' column that shows exactly what I'm looking for... but it's for that reseller only, and I don't get this table for resellers that have no package limits (e.g. me).
