  • Step-by-step execution for Intel AT&T assembler?

    Hello everyone, I'm writing a compiler that converts source code (written in a small imperative programming language) to Intel AT&T 32-bit assembler. I tend to spend a lot of time debugging, because of nasty offset-mistakes etc. in the generated code, and I would like to know if anyone knows of a tool to "walk through" the generated assembler code step-by-step, visualizing what's on the stack etc. I use Ubuntu Linux as my development platform, and I'm comfortable with the terminal -- a GUI-program would be nice though. Does it exist? Or is there a good reason it doesn't (maybe the problem isn't so straightforward..?) If you have good ideas for approaching debugging tasks in assembly code, I'll be glad to hear from you!

  • Can I use an NSDecimalNumber anywhere that an NSNumber is expected?

    NSDecimalNumber is a subclass of NSNumber, and from what I can tell, it implements all of the NSNumber methods as expected for an NSNumber instance. Given that, is it ok to give NSDecimalNumbers to any code that is expecting an NSNumber? The only possible issue might be code that checks that an argument is an instance of NSNumber, but since NSNumber is a class-cluster, code like this would have to check that the instance is a subclass of NSNumber, and NSDecimalNumber instances should pass the same tests.

    I want to use jquery Chili plugin for syntax highlighting a piece of code thats generated on the fly, but its not working for the same, because the code is inserted into the #output div on page load. When I tried chili with static examples, it worked but not on the dynamically generated code. Is there any workaround? Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi, I am trying to create a Custom QGraphicsItem button as shown by Fred here. The code which he posted can be found here. The problem is when I try and compile the code I get the following two errors: /usr/include/qt4/QtGui/qgraphicsitem.h ‘QGraphicsItem::QGraphicsItem(const QGraphicsItem&)’ is private /usr/include/qt4/QtCore/qobject.h ‘QObject::QObject(const QObject&)’ is private Here is the code snippet which essentially is the same as that in the sample above. The error is on the class deceleration. class MyButton : public QObject, public QGraphicsItem { Q_OBJECT Q_INTERFACES(QGraphicsItem) public: MyButton(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); MyButton(const QString normal, const QString pressed = "", QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); .... } Interestingly the other sample as shown here works fine.     I'm replicating a small piece of Sugarscape agent simulation model in Python 3. I found the performance of my code is ~3 times slower than that of NetLogo. Is it likely the problem with my code, or can it be the inherent limitation of Python? Obviously, this is just a fragment of the code, but that's where Python spends two-thirds of the run-time. My question is - Will I need anything special in .NET CF in order to use the bar-code scanner? I would expect that the bar-code are read as normal strings and delivered as keyboard events?   • Data Binding to an object in C#

    Objective-c/cocoa offers a form of binding where a control's properties (ie text in a textbox) can be bound to the property of an object. I am trying to duplicate this functionality in C# w/ .Net 3.5. I have created the following very simple class in the file MyClass.cs: class MyClass { private string myName; public string MyName { get { return myName; } set { myName = value; } } public MyClass() { myName = "Allen"; } } I also created a simple form with 1 textbox and 1 button. I init'd one instance of Myclass inside the form code and built the project. Using the DataSource Wizard in Vs2008, i selected to create a data source based on object, and selected the MyClass assembly. This created a datasource entity. I changed the databinding of the textbox to this datasource; however, the expected result (that the textbox's contents would be "allen") was not achieved. Further, putting text into the textbox is not updating the name property of the object. I know i'm missing something fundamental here. At some point i should have to tie my instance of the MyClass class that i initialized inside the form code to the textbox, but that hasn't occurred. Everything i've looked at online seems to gloss over using DataBinding with an object (or i'm missing the mark entirely), so any help is great appreciated. ----Edit--- Utilizing what i learned by the answers, i looked at the code generated by Visual Studio, it had the following: this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = typeof(BindingTest.MyClass); if i comment that out and substitute : this.myClassBindingSource.DataSource = new MyClass(); i get the expected behavior. Why is the default code generated by VS like it is? Assuming this is more correct than the method that works, how should i modify my code to work within the bounds of what VS generated?

    hi all !  In my app i need to download several plist.  to download a plist i use the NSURLconnection  in my code i use an UIAlertView with a UIActivityIndicator then when the download is finished i add a button to the alert to dismiss it.  To download the plist i use somewhere in my code an NSURL set to the adresse where the plist is, next i set a NSURLRequest with the url cache policy and a timeout interval.  Then i set my NSMutableData to the NSURL connection with a NSURLRequest.  In the delegate didReceiveData: i append data to my mutable data object, in the didFailWithError: i handle error. And finaly in the connectionDidFinishLoading  i serialize my data to a plist so i can write to file my plist, and release my alertview.  My problem is : how can i do if i have sevetal file to download because the connectionDidFinishLoading is called each time my NSURLConnection is finished but i want to release my UiAlert when everything is finished.     I'm passing an object to a WCF service and wasn't getting anything back. I checked the variable as it gets passed to the method that actually does the work and noticed that none of the values are set on the object at that point. Here's the object: [DataContract] public class Section { [DataMember] public long SectionID { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Title { get; set; } [DataMember] public string Text { get; set; } [DataMember] public int Order { get; set; } } Here's the service code for the method: [OperationContract] public List<Section> LoadAllSections(Section s) { return SectionRepository.Instance().LoadAll(s); } The code that actually calls this method is this and is located in a Silverlight XAML file: SectionServiceClient proxy = new SectionServiceClient(); proxy.LoadAllSectionsCompleted += new EventHandler<LoadAllSectionsCompletedEventArgs>(proxy_LoadAllSectionsCompleted); Section s = new Section(); s.SectionID = 4; proxy.LoadAllSectionsAsync(s); When the code finally gets into the method LoadAllSections(Section s), the parameter's SectionID is not set. I stepped through the code and when it goes into the generated code that returns an IAsyncResult object, the object's properties are set. But when it actually calls the method, LoadAllSections, the parameter received is completely blank. Is there something I have to set to make the proeprty stick between method calls?

  • Stack calling convention between .NET & C on WinCE 6.0

    Hi there. I'm porting a DLL written in C from WinCE 5.0 to WinCE 6.0 on an ARM target. This DLL is called by a .NET software. On WinCE5.0, everything runs fine. On WinCE6, I have the following problem: on InitInstance() of my DLL, I can call anything without problem (for example MessageBox()) or uses recursivity. Passed that point, the DLL is called by .NET code. And then it fails: even the arguments passed by .NET code seem weird. I can call MessageBox() once, but I can't call a function that calls MessageBox() and then that calls itself: recursivity is broken. It seems that the .NET code uses the stack in a different way than my C code. I'm very unfamillar with the Windows world and the company that gives me the .NET application does not understand yet why there is such a failure. Any pointer/hint/advice welcome! Thanks!

    Hi All, I am having a weird issue with serialization of a Hashtable. I have made a Server, Client app. Where server(PC/MAC) is serializing a Hashtable and sending it to Client(Android) through UDP. The data is sent/read correctly but I get a bunch of these messages below on LogCat. 04-12 11:19:43.059: DEBUG/dalvikvm(407): GetFieldID: unable to find field Ljava/util/Hashtable;.loadFactor:F Occasionally, I would see these 04-12 11:21:19.150: DEBUG/dalvikvm(407): GC freed 10814 objects / 447184 bytes in 97ms The app would run for 2-3 mins and then crash. Interestingly enough I do not see the Loadfactor errors on SDK 1.5. But I do see the GC Free xxxx objects, quiet often. After debugging I have found that the issue is with de-serialization and the error/warning are coming from following code Code: ByteArrayInputStream bis = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes); ObjectInputStream ois = new ObjectInputStream(bis); object = ois.readObject(); at Code: object = ois.readObject(); on the client. My server is serializing code is the following. Code: ByteArrayOutputStream bos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(bos); oos.writeObject(obj); Any idea what is going on? Thanks for the Help!

  • Scala Interpreter scala.tools.nsc.interpreter.IMain Memory leak

    I need to write a program using the scala interpreter to run scala code on the fly. The interpreter must be able to run an infinite amount of code without being restarted. I know that each time the method interpret() of the class scala.tools.nsc.interpreter.IMain is called, the request is stored, so the memory usage will keep going up forever. Here is the idea of what I would like to do: var interpreter = new IMain while (true) { interpreter.interpret(some code to be run on the fly) } If the method interpret() stores the request each time, is there a way to clear the buffer of stored requests? What I am trying to do now is to count the number of times the method interpret() is called then get a new instance of IMain when the number of times reaches 100, for instance. Here is my code: var interpreter = new IMain var counter = 0 while (true) { interpreter.interpret(some code to be run on the fly) counter = counter + 1 if (counter > 100) { interpreter = new IMain counter = 0 } } However, I still see that the memory usage is going up forever. It seems that the IMain instances are not garbage-collected by the JVM. Could somebody help me solve this issue? I really need to be able to keep my program running for a long time without restarting, but I cannot afford such a memory usage just for the scala interpreter. Thanks in advance, Pet

    Need help. I am trying to automate error notifications to be sent in mailers. For that I am querying the sysssislog table. I have pasted an "Execute SQl task" on the package event handler "On error". For testing purpose, I am deliberately trying to load duplicate keys in a table which consists of a Primary key column(so as to get an error). But instead of having just one error, "Violation of primary key constraint", SSIS records 3 in the table. PFA the screenshot as well.
