  • Running a batch file with parameters in python OR F#

    I searched the site but didn't see anything quite matching what I was looking for. I created a stand alone application that uses a web service I created. To run the client I use: c:/scriptsdirecotry "run-client.bat" param1 param2 param3 param4 how would I go about coding this in python or F#. seems like it should be pretty simple but I haven't seen anything online that quite matches what i'm looking for.   • How to Merge Data From Multiple Excel Files into a Single Excel File or Access Database?

    I have a few dozen excel files which are all of the same format (i.e. 4 worksheets per Excel file). I need to combine all the files into 1 master file which must have just 2 of the 4 worksheets. The corresponding worksheets from each Excel file are named exactly the same as are the column headers. While each file is structured the same, the information within sheet 1 and 2 (for example) is different. So it can’t be combined into one file with everything in one sheet! I've never used VBA before and I'm wondering where I might start this task!

  • Creating a unique key based on file content in python

    I got many, many files to be uploaded to the server, and I just want a way to avoid duplicates. Thus, generating a unique and small key value from a big string seemed something that a checksum was intended to do, and hashing seemed like the evolution of that. So I was going to use hash md5 to do this. But then I read somewhere that "MD5 are not meant to be unique keys" and I thought that's really weird. What's the right way of doing this? edit: by the way, I took two sources to get to the following, which is how I'm currently doing it and it's working just fine, with Python 2.5: import hashlib def md5_from_file (fileName, block_size=2**14): md5 = hashlib.md5() f = open(fileName) while True: data = f.read(block_size) if not data: break md5.update(data) f.close() return md5.hexdigest()

    I have a .plist with 2 key values in it. It is of type Dictionary. I am trying to write value to one of the key values. What's wrong with the code below? I also tried using type "Array".   • Why is png file looks different in firefox?

    If you take screen shot this web page in different browser, you'd see that it displays slightly different in firefox. (7.01, ubuntu) At first I thought it was because of color profile, but even if I turned on color management in firefox, the problem is still there. Although it's not a very noticeable problem, I got a perfectionist boss who asked to make it look exactly the same in every browser. Does any one know what might have caused the problem? Thanks!

    I need to program a simple Windows Explorer that only lists all files inside a folder recursively. The only solution I found up to now is using an ActiveX controller. So, I installed Visual Studio 2010, but I don't know really how to use it to make an ActiveX. I tried to create a Class Library then add a Explorer module. It compiles, but I don't know what to do now. Is there an easier way to do this or am I missing something ?

  • Vim: multi-file editing - having different makes in different splits

    I'm a recent vim convert (from fancy IDEs like eclipse.) I love the :make command in vim and use it extensively; however I also like to edit multiple projects (with separate makefiles.) So usually to edit more than one project I will do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp [suspend signal] pushd ../project2 vim project2.cpp and now I can switch between the two projects with ctrl+z i.e. suspend signal, and fg. When this becomes an issue is when I want to open one project in the context of another so I can do copy/pasting. So if instead in the above I do pushd project1 vim project1.cpp :vsp ../project2/project2.cpp I can edit both concurrently in the same vim process, however I can't effectively build one or the other with the :make command, it will only build project 1. Does anyone have some kind of scheme that gives them the best of both worlds: being able to edit concurrently while still being able to build multiple projects with the :make command all from the same vim process?

    I'm trying to zip a large number of pdf files (stored as BLOBs in the DB) and then return the zip as an attachment to the user. What's the best way to do this without running into memory issues? Another note: I actually need to merge some PDFs prior to adding them to the ZipOutputStream. Therefore, a couple PDFs will need to be stored in memory at a time. I assume it would be best to then store them as temporary files on the server before zipping them all?

E.g. folder tree structures should be synchronized between local workstation and server via HTTP(S). I am aware of security-related limitations in browser-based applications. However, there are some techniques that "work around" these issues: Signed Java applets (full trust) .NET Windows Forms browser controls (no joke, that works. Just the configuration is horrible) ActiveX My question is: What do you use/suggest, both technology and implementation practice?     Hi I am having no problem writing to or appending to a file, the only problem is that as soon as I quit the program and then run it again, it creates a new file overwriting my original file. This is a problem, as I am using the text file to keep a running tally. Is there a way to get an already created text file as an object and then append to it? Thanks in advance.

  • WCF REST Does Not Contain All of the Relative File Path

    I have a RESTful WCF 3.5 endpoint as such: System.Security.User.svc This is supposed to represent the namespace of the User class and is desired behavior by our client. I have another endpoint I created for testing called: Echo.svc I am writing an overridden IHttpModule and in my module, I follow what almost everyone does by doing: string path = HttpContext.Current.Request.AppRelativeCurrentExecutionFilePath; If I make a call to: http://localhost/services/Echo/test My path variable has a value of '~/echo/test' However, when I make a call to: http://localhost/services/System.Security.User/test My path variable has a value of '~/system.security.user' In my 2nd situation, it is stripping off the '/test' on the end of any endpoint that contains multiple periods. This is undesired behavior and the only solution I have found to fixing this is some ugly string manipulation using the property which does contain the complete URL path: string rawPath = HttpContext.Current.Request.RawUrl; This returns '/services/system.security.user/test'. Does anyone know why my first situation does not return the rest of the URL path for endpoints that contain multiple periods in the name?

    Hi forum, i have this file myfirst.txt located on a cluster of computers down the hall, i.e.: myname@login1:~> ls myfirst.txt which i want to download to the home directory: scp [email protected]:myfirst.txt . to which i get: myfirst.txt 100% 1828 1.8KB/s 00:00 now where (on my home computer) is this myfirst.txt file ? i can't find it.     Forgive me if this is nor the place to ask these questions, I am new to batch and scripts and a bit new to these kind of posts... I have a folder that will receive files and folders, I want to run a script that looks at the directory and renames all files in each subfolder numerically, and moves them if possible. For example I have something that looks like the following Recieved_File_Folder |_folder1 | |_file1.txt | |_file2.bmp |_folder2 | |_file4.exe | |_file5.bmp |__file9.txt |__file10.jpg I would like to be able to look in every directory and move it to something like this, keeping in mind the names of the files will be random and I want to keep the extension intact also. Renamed_Folder |_folder1 | |_1.txt | |_2.bmp |_folder2 | |_1.exe | |_2.bmp |__1.txt |__2.jpg I have spent alot of time on this and am not doing too well with it, any help would be very greatly appreciated!!   • Generate Windows .lnk file with PHP

    Hello, I'm working on a project which involves an FTP server running ProFTPd and a PHP/MySQL backend that creates accounts for users. Upon the creation of accounts, users are sent e-mails with their account details and instructions for downloading FileZilla or CyberDuck, depending on their OS, detected via user-agent string. To make things easier for novices, I thought of having .lnk files generated for FileZilla with the account logins details as parameters, so they would just have to click on the .lnk files to open up the server. This is not crucial feature but more of a technical challenge. My questions are : is this even feasible ? are there any alternatives (eg. generating a .bat with a script pointing to the Filezilla executable ?) are there any issues, perhaps with relative / absolute paths pointing to the executable ? to go even further, what would be the simplest way of providing users with software with FTP access on a single account / single server (web interface is not an option).
