• Checkpoint - Routing into the tunnel

  I have a simple question for my checkpoint infrastructure. Do i have to route a net which i wanna access over a configured firewall VPN Tunnel. Explanation: I have two firewalls connected over a VPN which have several nets behind them. I need to access a new net at the other firewall and put them in their encryption Domain. Now here is the question: Do i have to route it in the operating system (SecurePlat)? Thanks!

• Change default root user with a new one on Ubuntu Server

  I have a VPS, until now I used the default root user for SSH access and everything. For security reasons I'd like to use a different user for root, terminal access and sudo operations. So I created another user, gave him the sudo and every other perm. The problem is that all the system files belongs to root. What happens if I set PermitRootLogin No for root? Those files wouldn't be editable by the new root user!

• Share the same subnet between Internal network and VPN Clients

  I would like to set up a configuration where VPN clients connecting to my Forefront TMG can access all the resources of my Internal network without having the to use the option "Use default gateway on remote network" on the VPN's TCP/IP Ipv4 Advanced Settings. This is important to me, since they can use their own internet while accessing my network through VPN (the security implications of this are acceptable on my cenario) My Internal network runs on 10.50.75.x, and I set up Forefront TMG to relay the DHCP of my Internal network to the VPN clients, so they get IPs from the same range as the Internal network. This setup initially works, and the VPN clients use their own internet, and can access anything that is on the internal network. However, after a while, HTTP Proxy Traffic from the Internal network starts getting routed to the IP of the RRAS Dial In Interface, instead of the IP of the Internal's network gateway. When this happens, the HTTP Proxy starts getting denied for obvious reasons. My first question is: does this happen because Forefront TMG wasn't designed to handle a cenario that I described above, and it "loses itself"? My second question is: Is there any way to solve this problem, either through configuration or firewall policies? My third question is: If there's no way that it can work with the cenario above, is there another cenario that will solve my problem, and do what I'd like it to do properly? So does this mean that i have to implement the business and data access layrers in side model folder? And it is obviously not possible to add class libraries (business layer and Data access layer of n tier) in Model folder. • Routing with VPN and asymmetric communication

  I'm stumbling on a problem that requires your advice. Keywords : networking, route, openVPN Problem : I have a local network with several physical servers and VMs. These machines have ip's in the range 10.10.x.x. I can access these machines from the Internet with the help of openVPN. These machines can : access each other within the local 10.10.x.x subnet access the Internet via the VPN can themselves be accessed (via SSH) from the Internet via the VPN. There is one machine however that behaves strangely and I don't know why. I can SSH into this machine from anywhere via SSH and I can also PING it from anywhere (including the Internet). However from this machine (i.e. when logged into it) I cannot access the Internet or ping machines outside the local network. In other words it will not go beyond the VPN. My question is why?   I have a server installed on one local Win7 machine (say as 192.168.2.14:8080/myAPP) and I want to access that server from different computer (say ip as 192.168.2.16). Even they are connected to same network I can't access server from other computer. I guess the problem is in firewall. This is working when I disable firewall and not working when I allow certain ports in windows firewall but keeping firewall on (As a rule to allow incoming connections).

  I have two views that I am loading, the first is a view with an MKMapView, the second has a table view. I would like to access a method in the first views controller, from the second view. I have been told to use the delegate for this, but I can't get it right. In my app delegate, I have set up added properties for the class of my first view. Then, in my second view, I try to access the first view using the delegate: MyAppDelegate *mainDelegate = (MyAppDelegate*) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Then try: [mainDelegate.mapViewControllerClass myMethodToRun]; It seems to me that it should be calling the myMethodToRun method, which is in my map view. But, it does not work. What is wrong with what I am doing here? There must be a way to access a method of another view...

  I am having a weird Situation with my DataConext. All My code is in C# I have a DLL project for my data access layer and business Layer which and Winforms project for my UI layer. My Data access Layer's Namespace is xxx.Data this is where have my xxx.dbml I also have xxx.Data.BusinessObjects name space of course for my business object in that project In my UI Layer I have these namespaces xxxApp(for Forms), xxxApp.Controls (For Controls) I have lost scope of the DataContext, it was accessible now when I do a Rebuild Solution I sometimes get compile errors saying for example: Error 34 'xxx.Data.xxxDataContext' does not contain a definition for 'SubmitChanges' and no extension method 'SubmitChanges' accepting a first argument of type 'xxx.Data.xxxDataContext' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Also intelisense doesn't recognize the methods and table classes from my xxxDataContext anymore I can access all object fine when I am in the DLL project but now in the Winforms project this is very strange. If anyone can help me out I would be extremely grateful!

  I've been using .NET's Entity Framework a lot lately and have absolutely no wish to go back to using Stored Procedures. Been shocked though that the company I'm building this project for had a policy where applications were only given accounts that only had permissions to access stored procedures! Apparently, they believe that there's a security risk involved in allowing applications to access the tables/views directly. I don't get this. My first question is, can someone enlighten me as to what kind of security risk applications having direct access to the database may pose? AND If that's the case, are there any other ORM solutions that can provide a workaround to this (I can't think of any logical possibility atm) that would allow me to circumvent the restrictions on the user account to be assigned to me? OR is my understanding that I'd need direct permissions for the tables and views wrong?

• Logformat for catching asked hostname in a *.domain.com scenario?

  I have an Apache 2.2 VirtualHost with a *.domain.com Servername. This is required for my scenario, all subdomains are handled with the same site. Now, in the access log, I am trying to figure out a logformat variable (or way) that will let me log the asked for domain name. If I use the vhost_combined format, all I get in my access log is *.domain.com entries, not the actual vhost that was asked for. Anyone know how to do this?

• Linux clock loses 10 minutes every week

  One of my linux server's clock loses 10 minutes every now and then, nearly every week. I update the time so it stays correct, and although it doesn't really bother me, i'd like to fix it. I've been searching around a bit. Nothing can be responsible in the crontab, and i can't find any related message in the logs. Some people seem to use ntp to fix that kind of issue, but i'd prefer not to use an unecessary component on it. • Low FPS in some games, but hardware not fully used

  I just did a little funny experiment in the game/sim "Train Simulator 2013". I normally have good FPS in it (around 30) at full settings. What I did was make a really, really long train so that the calculations the sim needed to make were enormous (the sim is quite realistic, it takes all things into account like speed/acceleration, G-forces, comfort levels, possible wheel slip and many more, and most of those things on each carriage seperately). This resulted in only 14FPS as reported by the game, but it felt more like 8FPS or so. I have a Logitech G15 keyboard which has an LCD, and it allows me to monitor CPU/RAM and video card load on it. The strange thing is, all CPU cores were busy, but the total load was only about 60% maximum at all times. The video card was only on 30% load (possibly an important note, the memory was full, which is however not unusual for the game in question). The RAM had plenty of room and there weren't many operations as it didn't grow or shrink much. I just have the feeling that the game would run smoother if it used more of my hardware power. Why is it not doing so? I had the same in another game, The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind when using more than 100 mods (that all use scripting) and a few high res texture mods, + a full-on graphics improvement program. The engine is very old (2003), and so I thought this might be the cause (not being optimised for multithreading). I had thought of possible causes, like: The operating system doesn't let the games use all the resources. It doesn't make use of multi-threading appropriately. To eliminate the former, I tried a CPU stress tool and that got 100% CPU juice as I let it run, so the OS is not the problem. I gave its thread the "higher" priority though. My actual question In both games, I did things the engine was not really built to do or support. Can those games' framerate be limited cause of their own engine not being able to cope? What is the real reason and more importantly, can I help it? And in any case, could something actually be wrong with my hardware? It's all reasonably new, a couple of months, and I (almost) never experience any other trouble. Modern and much more demanding games work absolutely fine. Specs CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 X4 @ 3.4gHz RAM: 8GB of DDR3 RAM Video: MSI GTX560 (nVidia chip) with 1GB of GDDR5 memory OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Nothing overclocked.

  so i have a class ClassA that contains an enum MyEnum, and a class ClassB that references that class (different Projects) and so in ClassB i have a using ClassA; clause and i can access that enum using something like MyEnum value = MyEnum.EnumValue; Now on a third project i have my Windows form and it has a clause like using ClassB; Now what can i add in ClassB to acess that enum on my windows Form? Is it even Possible? i would like to avoid having to add ClassA to my form just to access an enum. The idea is that ClassB is sort of a manager between my form and the functionality in ClassA - but i would like to get access to that enum as it makes a lot of tasks easier

• Why one loop is performing better than other memory wise as well as performance wise?

  I have following two loops in C#, and I am running these loops for a collection with 10,000 records being downloaded with paging using "yield return" First foreach(var k in collection) { repo.Save(k); } Second var collectionEnum = collection.GetEnumerator(); while (collectionEnum.MoveNext()) { var k = collectionEnum.Current; repo.Save(k); k = null; } Seems like that the second loop consumes less memory and it faster than the first loop. Memory I understand may be because of k being set to null(Even though I am not sure). But how come it is faster than for each.   Is there a way to access the ConvertBack-Method of a Converter that implements IValueConverter directly from XAML? The basic situation is the following (relationsships): Route (1)<->(CN) Training (1)<->(CN) Kilometer The DataContext is set to a Training. From here I use the Convert-Method to access all my Kilometers. I also have a Converter from Route to IList<Training> and the ConvertBack would lookup the Route for a Training. But I seem to not be able to access that Method from XAML…
