• Planning in the Cloud - For Real

  One of the hottest topics at Oracle OpenWorld 2012 this week is “the cloud”.  Over the past few years, Oracle has made major investments in cloud-based applications, including some acquisitions, and now has over 100 applications available through Oracle Cloud services.  At OpenWorld this week, Oracle announced seven new offerings delivered via the Oracle Cloud services platform, one of which is the Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service.  Based on Oracle Hyperion Planning, this service is the first of Oracle’s EPM applications to be to be offered in the Cloud.    This solution is targeted to organizations that are struggling with spreadsheets or legacy planning and budgeting applications, want to deploy a world class solution for financial planning and budgeting, but are constrained by IT resources and capital budgets. With the Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service, organizations can fast track their way to world-class financial planning, budgeting and forecasting – at cloud speed, with no IT infrastructure investments and with minimal IT resources. Oracle Hyperion Planning is a market-leading budgeting, planning and forecasting application that is used by over 3,300 organizations worldwide.  Prior to this announcement, Oracle Hyperion Planning was only offered on a license and maintenance basis.  It could be deployed on-premise, or hosted through Oracle On-Demand or third party hosting partners.  With this announcement, Oracle’s market-leading Hyperion Planning application will be available as a Cloud Service and through subscription-based pricing. This lowers the cost of entry and deployment for new customers and provides a scalable environment to support future growth.   ARM TechCon is a technical conference for hardware and software engineers, Oct. 30-Nov 1 in Santa Clara, California. Days two and three of the conference will be geared towards systems designers and software developers, those interested in building ARM processor-based modules, boards, and systems. I have already imported my Visual Studio setting to change the color markup of my project files I am now wanting to change the Theme of Visual Studio to a darker theme using Theme plugin in the Visual Studio Gallery. Is there anywhere to go to get a pre-crafted dark theme as the default ones it comes with are quiet poor.

• How to print WPF Grid paged?

  Hi! I'm printing a WPF grid. As long as the data fits on one page, everything works fine. But sometimes the grid contains more data. Therefore I need to split the grid into multiple pages. Can anybody help me? • Is there any way to tweak / rotate mouse orientation? Any applications? Registry edits?

  I've got a very frustrating issue with my new Logitech Marathon Mouse M705. It is absolutely perfect for what I need, with the exception that it tracks on an angle for some reason. What I mean is when you slide the cursor to the left, it trends upward - when you slide to the right, it trends down. Moving the cursor along a flat horizontal line is no longer a natural motion - you need to fight what I suspect is a mechanical error of some kind. Unfortunately, I've already exchanged this mouse once and tested both on different Windows 7 and Mac OS machines - the problem continues to occur. So is there a software solution for me? I'm incredibly surprised there is no simple way to adjust the orientation... How can every mouse manufacturer possibly adjust their hardware to track to everyone's tastes? What about those who need to flip orientation a full 90 or 180 degrees? I only need to adjust mine a few degrees, but I'm sure that need has arisen as well. Anyway, I'm running the latest SetPoint drivers (6.00) on Windows 7 and there are no orientation options available. I've checked out uberOptions (http://uberoptions.net/) and the M705 isn't supported yet (with the last version update over 6 months ago). MAF Mouse (http://www.maf-soft.de/mafmouse/) instructions are a very strange series of mouse clicks to activate? This app also seems a little overkill and costs $$ (which I'm willing to pay as a last resort). Is there no universal registry value for mouse orientation? How about for SetPoint drivers specifically? I've done a simple search in regedit without any luck. An XML file somewhere? Anything?? Thanks a million for any help - it's driving me nuts!

• How can I define a clojure type that implements the servlet interface?

  I'm attempting to use deftype (from the bleeding-edge clojure 1.2 branch) to create a java class that implements the java Servlet interface. I would expect the code below to compile (even though it's not very useful). (ns foo [:import [javax.servlet Servlet ServletRequest ServletResponse]]) (deftype servlet [] javax.servlet.Servlet (service [this #^javax.servlet.ServletRequest request #^javax.servlet.ServletResponse response] nil)) But it doesn't compile. The compiler produces the message: Mismatched return type: service, expected: void, had: java.lang.Object [Thrown class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] Which doesn't make sense to me, because I'm returning nil. So the fact that the return type of the method is void shouldn't be a problem. For instance, for the java.util.Set interface: (deftype bar [#^Number n] java.util.Set (clear [this] nil)) compiles without issue. So what am I doing wrong with the Servlet interface? To be clear: I know that the typical case is to subclass one of the servlet abstract classes rather than implement this interface directly, but it should still be possible to do this.   Hi, I am trying my hardest to find the simplest way to create a basic "model first" entity framework example. However I am struggling with the actually generation of the database, particularly the running of the SQL against the database. Tools Visual Studio 2010 SQL Server 2008 Express Process Create a new class project Add a new Server-Database item (mdf) named "Database1.mdf" to the project Add an empty ADO.net Entity Model Create a simple entity (Person: Id, Name) Generate the Script selecting the Database1 connection created for me by visual studio Right click the script editor and select the "Execute SQL..." option Log in to SQLEXPRESS This is where is falls over saying it cant find a database name "Database1". The "problem" is that the SQL server has not had Database1 attached to it. I am 100% positive that Visual Studio use to attach a database to SQLExpress when it created a new database (Step 2). This appears to not be the case any more (even the beta of VS2010 did it). Can someone confirm this? or tell me how to get this to happen? Is there a way that I can modify the TSQL script to use an un-attached database. ie a file. I know I can use SQL Management Studio or sqlcmd to attach the database, but I would ideally like to avoid the solutions as I would like to see the cleanest method of just using visual studio. Ideal Solutions (in order of most prefered) Get visual studio to attach the newly created database Modify the generated SQL to point to file Thanks in advance.

I've been messing with the super small, super easy Hello World sample and have already ran into problems. Heh. I removed white spaces at indexing time and when the user is searching. Thanks.

  Hello, I created (and used) a Windows Media Encoder object in Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition on MS Server 2003 64 bit. This worked fine. However, when I attempted to create the equivalent Windows Media Encoder object using Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 on MS Server 2003 64 bit, the following exception was thrown: "Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {632B606A-BBC6-11D2-A329-006097C4E476} failed due to the following error: 80040154." It cannot be that the component isn’t registered, because both have a reference to the same WMEncEng.dll file. The Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 code also worked fine on XP 32 bit. Could it be a problem with permissions? Regardless, anyone have any ideas why this problem is occurring and, more importantly, how to resolve it? Thank you.
