    I have a generic class HierarchicalBusinessObject. In the constructor of the class I pass a lambda expression that defines a selector to a field of TModel. protected HierarchicalBusinessObject (Expression<Func<TModel,string>> parentSelector) A call would look like this, for example: public class WorkitemBusinessObject : HierarchicalBusinessObject<Workitem,WorkitemDataContext> { public WorkitemBusinessObject() : base(w => w.SuperWorkitem, w => w.TopLevel == true) { } } I am able to use the selector for read within the class. For example: sourceList.Select(_parentSelector.Compile()).Where(... Now I am asking myself how I could use the selector to set a value to the field. Something like selector.Body() .... Field...

    Hi! I'm doing client side validation on a project I'm working on. Everything works, except for the minimumlength property of the StringLength attribute (it works when submitting and a serverside validation is done): [StringLength(50, MinimumLength = 6)] The javascript generated by Html.EnableClientValication(); is the following: // snip {"FieldName":"User.Password","ReplaceValidationMessageContents":true,"ValidationMessageId":"User_Password_validationMessage","ValidationRules":[{"ErrorMessage":"The field Password must be a string with a minimum length of 6 and a maximum length of 50.","ValidationParameters":{"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50},"ValidationType":"stringLength"}]}],"FormId":"form0","ReplaceValidationSummary":false}) The important thing is here: {"minimumLength":0,"maximumLength":50} It produces javascript with the wrong minimumproperty. You guys have a hint? Is this a possible bug?

  • ASP.NET SqlDataSource update and create FK reference

    The short version: I have a grid view bound to a data source which has a SelectCommand with a left join in it because the FK can be null. On Update I want to create a record in the FK table if the FK is null and then update the parent table with the new records ID. Is this possible to do with just SqlDataSources? The detailed version: I have two tables: Company and Address. The column Company.AddressId can be null. On my ascx page I am using a SqlDataSource to select a left join of company and address and a GridView to display the results. By having my UpdateCommand and DeleteCommand of the SqlDataSource execute two statements separated by a semi-colon I am able to use the GridView's Edit and Delete functionality to update both table simultaneously. The problem I have is when the Company.AddressId is null. What I need to have happen is have the data source create a record in the Address table and then update the Company table with the new Address.ID then proceed with the update as usual. I would like to do this with just data sources if possible for consistency/simplicity sake. Is it possible to have my data source do this, or perhaps add a second data source to the page to handle some of this? Once I have that working I can probably figure out how to make it work with the InsertCommand as well but if you are on a roll and have an answer for how to make that fly as well feel free to provide it.     Sounds dummy but I can't set to a server-side control's property a value contains quote marks ": <asp:CompareValidator ErrorMessage="Curreny-from can't be equal to currency-to" runat="server" /> I need to quote "from" and "to". I tried escaping \"from\" and double quote marks ""from"" - both doesn't work. How to do that?

  • ASP.NET MVC submitting json array to controller as regular post request (nonajax)

    All the examples of json I can find online only show how to submit json arrays w/ the jquery command $.ajax(). I'm submitting some data from a custom user control as a json array. I was wondering if it's possible to submit a json array as a regular post request to the server (like a normal form) so the browser renders the page returned. Controller: [JsonFilter(Param = "record", JsonDataType = typeof(TitleViewModel))] public ActionResult SaveTitle(TitleViewModel record) { // save the title. return RedirectToAction("Index", new { titleId = tid }); } Javascript: function SaveTitle() { var titledata = GetData(); $.ajax({ url: "/Listing/SaveTitle", type: "POST", data: titledata, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", }); } Which is called from a save button. Everything works fine but the browser stays on the page after submitting. I was thinking of returning some kind of custom xml from the server and do javascript redirect but it seems like a very hacky way of doing things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi! I have a aspx file that suppose to write to a file in the server while loading. On the local machine it works fine, but when i deploy it to a live server it gives me an exception "Access to the path 'd:\DZHosts\LocalUser\asafz83\www.asafz83.somee.com\lala.htm' is denied." WHen i asked my serverAdmin for the reason - he told me to remove any impersonation from my web.config file. Well, my web.config file doesn't contain any impersonation, so i'm really confused: What can i do in order for this sealy-stupid application to work? thanks!

I am able to get the database to display my data in VisualBasic but I am not sure how to get the total cost to appear in my label (lblTotalCost).
