  • Is this DVD drive broken? Brand new, i need help convincing

    I am asking bc i know dell is going to give me a problem. How do i know if my DVD is broken on my laptop? i burnt 4 DL disc and they ALL failed, i called and dell suggested roxio. I used it and burnt 1 disc without error and the 2nd disc with an error. With both apps there were no 'problems' during the burning process only failed on the verification process. Some of these bad disc dont work on other PCs and one locks up windows when i click a specific file. Does that sound like a broken burner to you guys? when i called dell they told me since it can read disc properly 100% of the time and software doesnt fail in the burning process its not a broken drive _. They forward me to software support who demand a fee (i think $100) to help me fix my software. I am annoyed bc i dont want to be on the phone for them to watch me burn a dvd and since i burned it once correctly i dont want to happen to burn correctly again to have them say they solved my problem (doing nothing) and charge me refusing to refund. -edit- The errors i got were 1) the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error 2) Windows locking up when opening 1 specific file 3) Cannot copy : Data error (crc) NOTE: the file that causes the problems are random every disc

  • Anyone have a script to delete a specific local windows profile?

    I'm looking for Powershell (preferred) script, or .CMD or .VBS, to delete a specific user profile on a workstation (WinXP) or terminal server (2000, '03 or '08). I know all about the delprof utility... That only allows you delete based on a period of inactivity. I want a script to: prompt admin for a username delete that username's profile and to delete the entire profile - registry hive too (not just the folder structure within Documents and Settings). The same way it would if you went to My Computer Properties Advanced tab User Profiles Settings and deleted profiles from there. Any ideas? All I can think of is doing an AD lookup to get the SID of the user specified, then using that to delete the correct registry hive too... something simpler would be nice though... Basically, my HelpDesk used to be local administrators on our Citrix servers and a common fix for various issues was for them to delete a user's profile on the citrix server(s) and have that user log back in - voila, whatever issue they had was resolved. Going forward, in new Citrix environment, they will no longer be local admins on those boxes, but still need to be able to delete profiles (deleting the entire profile: folder and reg hive is key). thanks.

  • Need to set up a proxy on Linksys E3200 to filter home internet

    the fact that I have a Linksys E3200 may not be important. I can configure the router through the web interface, but I don't know the things I will be toggling are called. I already do simple port forwarding to access applications on my Mac remotely. So router admin is not something I technically need explained. I'm looking to running a proxy on my home computer, that filters all HTTP traffic that goes through my router. So if my daughter is on her iPad and accesses Safari, my Mac will be the judge of the validity of the request. I need something like NetNanny I guess, but local. Actually, anything that can just filter all port 80 traffic that runs locally, but maybe validates with a password? I truly truly hope this question falls within the bounds of Serverfault. I'm not a total internet newb but I'm at a loss for what to Google. If possible answer this question: Is there a webapp that can listen on port 80, and validate requests to port 80 with a password? If so, can I forward all traffic on port 80 to my Mac, to be re-routed to the user? Is this the same as a VPN? Thank you for your help. Justin

  • Weird Outlook Behavior; Creating its own file folder

    Outlook is doing a very strange thing. It has created a folder on its own (which, whenever I completely delete, comes back, with a different name). Mail that goes into this folder will not go to any other folder unless I forward it. If I move the email or create a rule to always move mail from particular senders to the Inbox, it moves for a while, but then goes back into the created folder. The first one was called "junk" but it was in addition to my normal junk email folder. When I forwarded all the messages (some were junk, but most were not) and totally deleted that folder, a new one, called "unwanted" appeared that acted the same way. It seems that once one email goes into this folder, then any email from that person also goes into the folder. I have discussed this with the tech person at work. There is no evidence of virus or any other identifiable reason for this to happen. We have searched the Internet and not found anything like this either.

  • How to tell Linux to explicitly swap out main memory of suspended process?

    I run a memory-hungry process (mkcromfs) which consumes more memory than I have physical memory on my latop, so it is paging and swappin and thrashing all the time and loadavg is about 2 (compcache is already in use with usual swap partition as well), but slowly moving forward (Although I afraid it will finally try to allocate 2GB and crash draining 2 days of thrashing). When I want to use the laptop for something else, I stop the process, start X server, firefox and other programs. The problem is that when I start Firefox the loadavg jumps to 10 and the system becomes almost unresponsive at all (long time to turn on/off caps lock, slow mouse cursor position updates, slow switching from X server to Linux console, slow login). The stopped mkcromfs still holds a lot of memory (464.8 MiB and slowly falling) and moves it to swap only when more memory is needed for some other program, which results in a great slowdown. How to tell the Linux to swap out this process entirely (e.g. I'm not intending to resume it in short term), possibly waking from swap other data? Also it will be useful to be able to specify the exact swap device to swap the given process out.

  • Auto-focus xdvi after running viewdvi in Emacs with AUCTeX.

    I've been using emacs with AUCTeX mode to edit my latex documents for a few days now, but there's something that's really bugging me. As it should be, whenever I do C-c C-c RET it compiles the file, and if repeat the command it views the output in xdvi. It's also set to the mini-mode TeX-source-specials-mode, so instead of opening a new window in xdvi it only reloads the window that's already open, brings it to the front, and sends me to wherever the pointer was in emacs (forward search). Now here's the problem: Even though the xdvi window is brought to the front, it's not focused. Instead, the emacs windows stays with focus (and that's where any keyboard input goes). And I keep forgetting about that, which leads me to accidentally editing the source file while trying to navigate in xdvi. Not to mention I'm forced to alt-tab in order to focus xdvi, and alt-tab twice if I just want to get back to emacs. Is there a way around this problem? I just want xdvi to be focused whenever I run the view command from emacs.

  • Allow SFTP in iptables

    I have just purchased a VPS from linode and am going through the setup guide. I have everything running (apache2, php, mysql etc) but I am being denied access via SFTP when using fileZilla to upload a file. Now this is my second time installing the server as I missed a section out the first time. I was able to connect to my server through SFTP on filezilla the first time and the thing I missed out was adding a new user and editing the iptables in the firewall. So it would seem that the guide I have been following has blocked SFTP but allowed SSH.   • Issues with returned mail sent to web-based email domains

    My company is having issues with returned mail that we send out to external domains. A few weeks ago we replaced a firewall and changed ISP providers and began subsequently having issues RECEIVING emails from external sources because we hadn't updated our new IPs in the DNS records. After making the necessary configuration changes and setting up SMTP forwarding over port 25 to our mail server, everything was working fine up until a few days ago when we started having mail sent out returned to us. We aren't having any trouble communicating internally (to recipients on our domain) but it seems we're having trouble with outbound messages to web-based email recipients. (@hotmail, @live, @yahoo, @gmail...etc) Currently we are running Server 2003 SP2 and exchange 2003. I'm very unfamiliar with configuring Exchange and could really use some help in narrowing down the possibilities. I did some research and am becoming suspicious of Sender ID being the culprit due to our recent IP address change and the likelihood that Sender ID is identifying us as a fake domain. Am I going in entirely the wrong direction? Any input or guidance would be infinitely appreciated. This is the message that is returned when an outbound message fails...this particular one was sent to my @live.com account for testing purposes... Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. The following recipient(s) could not be reached: [email protected] on 5/17/2012 3:02 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. Unfortunately, messages from xx.x.xx.x weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. I tried a reverse DNS lookup and found that we are set up as a Forward-confirmed reverse DNS. So do I just need to contact my ISP and have them correct their DNS records or is this something I can solve on our end??

  • GIT and Django Projects

    I have two servers, a Dev server and a Production server. The Production server runs a live Django site, while the Dev server has a copy of the Django project. I use the Dev server to work on the Django site, make improvements, fix bugs, etc. Once I am satisfied with how the Dev version is working, I move the whole Django directory from the Dev server and replace the same directory on the Production server. The two servers are not on the same LAN so the process is not straight forward. There are a few issues with this that I am having so far. Moving the whole directory is laborious and time consuming If I only change a few files, it is even move tedious to replace a few files than the whole directory since the project is getting fairly large and I worry that I'll miss something I often run into permission issues after I've moved things It's super inefficient, and, due to lack of time, I haven't bothered figuring out a new method. Now it's just getting out of hand and i need to address the situation. I am thinking I need to move to a GIT repository for this process. But my question is how would I set this all up? Do I host the repository on the Production server, pull from the Dev server, do work, then commit? Then I would pull from the Production server (same server the repo is hosted on) to run the current working version? Do I host the repo on the Dev Server, pulling from the same server to do work on the repo, then pull a working version onto the Production server? Should I be hosting the repo on a different server than the Production server and the Dev server (a third server)? Are there any special considerations with Django and repos that I need to worry about? Thanks for the help :)

  • Google Apps routing to different servers, depending on domain

    We are investigating Google Apps for Education for our group of schools. Currently, each school uses their own Exchange (2003) server. Each school has its own domain which I have added to Google Apps as additional domains. I would like to start transitioning certain staff and some new pupils over to Google Apps to start testing. In this interim phase, I need mail to be routed through Google Apps and then, if no appropriate mail box is found, route on to the individual schools depending on the recipient. I do know that it is possible to route mail that does not have an appropriate Google Apps mail account to a single server - under "Settings / E-mail Settings / General Settings / Routing / E-mail routing". This works well for a single organisation where all the extra mail is destined for one place. I do know that it is possible to set up Routes, under "Settings / E-mail Settings / Hosts" and then use rules, found under "Settigns / E-mail Settings / General Settings / Routing / Receiving Routing". I can then filter based on e-mail domain and forward on to the necessary server. My problem with this, as I understand it, is that it ignores the users that have Google Apps accounts set up and sends all mail to the Exchange server. Are there any solutions for this predicament?   • Why did I loose access to the mailboxes on my old web/mail host after changing to a new one but keeping old MX values

    So I changed the NS records with registrar to point at the new webhosts DNS servers and edited the SOA record there, deleting the new hosts default MX records and instead putting in the old ones for the old web\mail hosts. The website A record is however pointing at the new webhosts servers and the site comes up fine. But none of this should cause me to loose access to mailboxes on my old hosts mail server right? I log into the control panel on the old host, all the mailboxes are there, all the passwords are fine but I can't log in using either webmail or pop3, says incorrect log-in/password. I even created a new mailbox and password for it respectively, but it would not let me log in. For what its worth I did not change\delete the records for 'A' on the old webhost zone file, since I am not hosting the site with them anymore and NS records are pointing to other hosts DNS servers/zone file so that shouldn't matter right? The old hosts mailserver is also not simply down, I can tell because through the control panel I setup a mail forward for one of the existing inboxes and when sending mail to it, it receives it and forwards it fine. So from this I can deduce that I have correctly inputted the old hosts MX records into the zone file hosted on the new hosts DNS and the mail is being sent to the old hosts mail server(s) and is successfully forwarded by it. But why can't I log into those account/inboxes anymore ?

  • IPtables and Remote Desktop with Proxy

    So I setup a windows 2008 web server R2 on VirtualBox. Currently using Bridged Network. I can remote desktop to the machine hosting the VM (10.0.0.183) but cannot remote desktop to the VM itself (10.0.0.195). The remote port on the VM set to 5003. VM setup to accept remote connections (windows side). We also use a proxy for our internet, and I added these rules under NAT. (centOS 5) on our proxy box. -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 3389 -j ACCEPT -A REROUTING -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 3389 -j REDIRECT --to-port 5003 -A FORWARD -d 10.0.0.195 --dport 5003 -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT I've been trying for hours and hours and just cannot get it to work. I also used freedns so that we can use a domain name to connect too this VM over the internet. (the DNS points to our external IP address). If we don't get this right we will have to purchase a PPoE from an ISP to connect to this VM remotely, but I know that there is an alternative route if I can just get this port forwarding right!

  • Convert Public Folder to Shared Mailbox

    Due to a change in company policy, all existing Public Folders (PF) have to be phased out in favour of shared mailboxes. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have any procedures or guidelines for this migration and I can't find much online either. I've already migrated one of our public folders so far as a sort of test case. Because we still use Exchange 2003, we can't create real shared mailboxes as we would in 2007 or 2010 (With New-Mailbox -Shared ... in the Exchange Shell). Instead, I simply created a new account on the AD and assigned it a mailbox. I then set the PF's permissions to read-only to keep it in a consistent state and copied the entire folder to a local PST in Outlook 2010, from which the folder was in turn copied to the new mailbox. Permissions and Folder Visible were set for all users and the migration was successful. While this works, the whole procedure feels very hackish to me and not at all efficient. I'd welcome some input on automating or at least streamlining the process. Additionally, we are unsure of what to do with our mail-enabled Public Folders. Several of these are nested under other PFs, some of which are also mail-enabled. Preserving folder structure is a key requirement and this seems impossible at first glance. I've considered creating dummy accounts for all the email addresses from our mail-enabled PFs and then setting up automated rules to forward messages to a subfolder of the new shared mailboxes, but I am not familiar enough with Exchange to know if this is even possible. Further points of concern are the Calendars and Contact lists in our public folders. I suppose I'll be forced to create new mailboxes for every one of these we have as well, then set up share permissions for their Calendar and Contact items, but would be happy to be proven wrong.

  • SSO to multiple websites from Sharepoint website

    We have an intranet based on Sharepoint 2010. In this intranet we have several links to other webservers within the same Active Directory, for example a link to our Outlook Web Access site on our Exchange 2010 environment. We have three different setups which visit this Sharepoint environment and the other webservers: Windows 7 clients that are a member of the Active Directory Home pc's that connect through a SSL VPN appliance Standalone thin clients (Windows 7 embedded) within the corporate network The goal is to let people only sign in once. In the first group this isn't a problem because the AD Integrated Authentication works fine and the Windows logon is passed on to Sharepoint and the other webservers. The second group is also working fine because of the LDAP integration that the SSL VPN appliance uses. The third group is however experiencing issues. They need to enter their credentials everytime they click a link to another webserver. They first need to enter credentials for accessing the Sharepoint environment. When clicking the link for their webmail they have to re-enter their credentials, and so on. Can someone tell me what the best solution would be to also get SSO working fine for the third group? Some extra information: We also have a Forefront TMG server in our environment. I read somewhere that Forefront might be part of a solution for this problem, but not sure how.   • Apache forwarding without redirecting (application won't follow redirects)

    Recently we had to move /task to /public/task, and I'd like to configure Apache to redirect accordingly. However, using mod_rewrite, though it works in the browser, seems to break applications making api calls to the above location. What happens is the application returns a page with the message saying the page was moved, but the app doesn't follow the redirect. So, is there a way to simply forward any traffic to /task to /public/task without 'redirecting', i.e, returning a redirect status code? EDIT: Here's a little more information. I've found a simple test to clarify what I'm trying to fix. Here is the URL path that needs forwarding: https://mydomain.com/task Needs to go to: https://mydomain.com/public/task If I use curl against the original domain, it just returns a redirect page notice. If I add the -L flag, which tells curl to follow redirects, it then follows the redirect successfully. I assume something very similar is happening in the application (which I don't have access to) that makes calls to the /task URL path. Since I cannot modify the application to make it follow redirects properly, I'm looking for a solution I can implement in Apache.

  • Several web applications on a single port

    We're developing an online browser-based game. The game itself is a plugin in the web page, that uses TCP connection to a game server, and also sends http requests to "content server" web application. This makes 3 servers total: the site itself, game server and content server. Site and content server are IIS web applications, game server is a custom application communicating over TCP with proprietary protocol. While the game is in beta stage, all these servers are physically hosted on a single machine, and distinguished by ports. For example, website is game.example.com:80, game server is game.example.com:34285 and content server is game.example.com:50000. This works OK most of the time, but some of our players have ports other than 80 closed. Is there any way to make all these application work through port 80, while still having them one one physical server? Maybe using different sub-domains? There's probably a way to make IIS forward requests to different web applications based on URL alone, but that doesn't help with game server. Edit Server is Windows Server 2008, IIS 7

  • Incoming traffic while on public network

    I'm developing a web app and I need to be able to get incoming traffic from 3rd party services I use. This is a classic webhooks situation: I send a request with a return address and receive the response (via HTTP) some time later to the given address. The simple solution would be to provide my external IP address and forward the incoming traffic from the router to my machine. However, I'm working in a large office and I cannot control the router configuration. I'm looking for a different way to achieve that. I do have servers online. I can have a daemon running on one of those servers, which will handle the incoming traffic. I can run a parallel daemon on my machine, which will keep an open connection with the remote daemon (over ssh preferred) and when an inbound traffic is received by the remote, it will send it to the local, which will send it to the correct port on my machine, as if it was received in the natural way. Is there any ready-made solution for that? PS. I'm on OS X and my server is Ubuntu. Thanks, zvikico

  • CentOS and OpenSSH [on hold]

    I've recently installed CentOS 6 on an old Dell PC. I'm trying to setup OpenSSH at the moment, I been following some tutorials (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKafb0koJEg) on You Tube, while they have been very helpful I'm at the point where I need to ask some questions. My goal here is to be able to access the server from my work computer and from my personal laptop (which will be on the same home network as the server). I've installed OpenSSH with no issues. So the first thing I was advised to do was port forwarding. So in the sshd_config file, I've changed Port 22 to Port xxxx (where xxxx is a obviously a four digit value). I then restart the sshd service. I've also configured my router for forward port 22 onto xxxx. Is there anything else I need to do? I've generated the keys on my laptop, and I'm trying to copy them to the server as follows: scp id_rsa.pub xxxxxxxx@localhost:.ssh/authorized_keys but this command fails with the following error message: ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused lost connection Any help appreciated.   • How to setup IIS 7.5 Reverse Proxy for quite a few internal servers - Server Farm?

    I have tried for a few days, but I'm lost. Here's what I'm trying to do: I want to setup an IIS 7.5 as a Reverse Proxy for about 30 internal HTTP servers, located on my internal LAN. Everything is running on port 80. The internal servers are really IP based webcams. Here is scenario: www.mycamserver.com/cam1 192.168.1.101 www.mycamserver.com/cam2 192.168.1.102 and so on, until.. www.mycamserver.com/cam30 192.168.1.130 I have installed ARR and URL Rewrite. So far, I have managed, at one time, to seem to forward an incoming URL to an internal server, but the page would not fully load (error 404). Also, I setup a Server Farm, but it seems all traffic is now set to the first node on the Server Farm (192.168.1.101). However, at least the page loads and runs correctly. I simply want to do an exact match, for example, "cam14", and reverse-proxy / rewrite to a corresponding internal server address - "192.168.1.114".

There are a variety of tools available to help you and Support diagnose SOA Suite issues in 11g but it can be confusing as to which tool is appropriate for a particular situation and what their relationships are. This blog post will introduce the various tools and attempt to clarify what each is for and how they are related. Let's first list the tools we'll be addressing: RDA: Remote Diagnostic Agent DFW: Diagnostic Framework Selective Tracing DMS: Dynamic Monitoring Service ODL: Oracle Diagnostic Logging ADR: Automatic Diagnostics Repository ADRCI: Automatic Diagnostics Repository Command Interpreter WLDF: WebLogic Diagnostic Framework This overview is not mean to be a comprehensive guide on using all of these tools, however, extensive reference materials are included that will provide many more details on their execution. Another point to note is that all of these tools are applicable for Fusion Middleware as a whole but specific products may or may not have implemented features to leverage them. A couple of the tools have a WebLogic Scripting Tool or 'WLST' interface. WLST is a command interface for executing pre-built functions and custom scripts against a domain. Sales reps don’t know where the customer orders are stuck (no visibility) and finance users are unable to manually approve every order (no automation). There are several areas where this process can be improved with Business Process Management technology.   • Exalogic 2.0.1 Tea Break Snippets - Scripting Asset Creation

    So far in this series we have looked at creating asset within the EMOC BUI but the Exalogic 2.0.1 installation also provide the Iaas cli as an alternative to most of the common functionality available within EMOC. The IaaS cli interface provides access to the functions that are available to a user logged into the BUI with the CloudUser Role. As such not all functionality is available from the command line interface however having said that the IaaS cli provides all the functionality required to create the Assets within a specific Account (Tenure). Because these action are common and repeatable I decided to wrap the functionality within a simple script that takes a simple input file and creates the Asset. Following the Script through will show us the required steps needed to create the various Assets within an Account and hence I will work through the various functions within the script below describing the steps. You will note from the various steps within the script that it is designed to pause between actions allowing the proceeding action to complete. The reason for this is because we could swamp EMOC with a series of actions and may end up with a situation where we are trying to action a Volume attached before the creation of the vServer and Volume have completed. processAssets() This function simply reads through the passed input file identifying what assets need to be created. An example of the input file can be found below. It can be seen that the input file can be used to create Assets in multiple Accounts during a single run. The order of the entries define the functions that need to be actioned as follows: Input Command Iaas Actions Parameters Production:Connect akm-describe-accounts akm-create-access-key iaas-create-key-pair iaas-describe-vnets iaas-describe-vserver-types iaas-describe-server-templates Username Password Production:Create|vServer iaas-run-vserver vServer Name vServer Type Name Template Name Comma separated list of network names which the vServer will connect to. Production:Create|Volume iaas-create-volume Volume Name Volume Size Production:Attach|Volume iaas-attach-volumes-to-vserver vServer Name Comma separated list of volume names Production:Disconnect iaas-delete-key-pair akm-delete-access-key None connectToAccount() It can be seen from the connectToAccount function that before we can execute any Asset creation we must first connect to the appropriate account. To do this we will need the ID associated with the Account. This can be found by executing the akm-describe-accounts cli command which will return a list of all Accounts and there IDs. Once we have the Account ID we generate and Access key using the akm-create-access-key command and then a keypair with the iaas-create-key-pair command. At this point we now have all the information we need to access the specific named account. createVServer() This function simply retrieved the information from the input line and then will create the vServer using the iaas-run-vserver cli command. Reading the function you will notice that it takes the various input names for vServer Type, Template and Networks and converts them into the appropriate IDs. The IaaS cli will not work directly with component names and hence all IDs need to be found. createVolume() Function that simply takes the Volume name and Size then executes the iaas-create-volume command to create the volume. attachVolume() Takes the name of the Volume, which we may have just created, and a Volume then identifies the appropriate IDs before assigning the Volume to the vServer with the iaas-attach-volumes-to-vserver. disconnectFromAccount() Once we have finished connecting to the Account we simply remove the key pair with iaas-delete-key-pair and the access key with akm-delete-access-key although it may be useful to keep this if ssh is required and you do not subsequently modify the sshd information to allow unsecured access. By default the key is required for ssh access when a vServer is created from the command-line. Test Case 1 Check if you can see AS instances in the console Implementation 1. Log on to the AS Console --> check to see if you can see all the nodes in your AS cluster. You should be able to see all the Oracle AS instances that are part of the cluster. This means that the OPMN clustering worked and the AS instances successfully joined the AS cluster. Result You should be able to see if all the instances in the AS cluster are listed in the EM console. If the instances are not listed here are the files to check to see if OPMN joined the cluster properly: $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs{*}opmn.log*$ORACLE_HOME\opmn\logs{*}opmn.dbg* If OPMN did not join the cluster properly, please check the opmn.xml file to make sure the discovery multicast address and port are correct (see this link  for opmn documentation). Restart the whole instance using opmnctl stopall followed by opmnctl startall. Log on to AS console to see if instance is listed as part of the cluster. Test Case 2 Check to see if you can start/stop each component Implementation Check each OC4J component on each AS instanceStart each and every component through the AS console to see if they will start and stop.Do that for each and every instance. Result Each component should start and stop through the AS console. You can also verify if the component started by checking opmnctl status by logging onto each box associated with the cluster Test Case 3 Add/modify a datasource entry through AS console on a remote AS instance (not on the instance where EM is physically running) Implementation Pick an OC4J instanceCreate a new data-source through the AS consoleModify an existing data-source or connection pool (optional) Result Open $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\<oc4j_name>\config\data-sources.xml to see if the new (and or the modified) connection details and data-source exist. Go to $ORACLE_HOME\opmn\bin and use the opmnctl @cluster to start and stop the AS instances Result Use opmnctl @cluster status to check for start and stop statuses.  HTTP server test cases This section will deal with use cases to test HTTP server failover scenarios. In these examples the HTTP server will be talking to the BPEL console (or any other web application that the client wants), so the URL will be _http://hostname:port\BPELConsole Test Case 1  Shut down one of the HTTP servers while accessing the BPEL console and see the requested routed to the second HTTP server in the cluster Implementation Access the BPELConsoleCheck $ORACLE_HOME\Apache\Apache\logs\access_log --> check for the timestamp and the URL that was accessed by the user. Timestamp and URL would look like above Result Even though you are shutting down the HTTP server the request is routed to the surviving HTTP server, which is then able to route the request to the BPEL Console and you are able to access the console. By checking the access log file you can confirm that the request is being picked up by the surviving node. Test Case 2 Repeat the same test as above but instead of calling opmnctl stopproc, pull the network cord of one of the HTTP servers, so that the LBR routes the request to the surviving HTTP node --> this is simulating a network failure. Test Case 3 In test case 1 we have simulated a graceful shutdown, in this case we will simulate an Apache crash Implementation Use opmnctl status -l to get the PID of the HTTP server that you would like forcefully bring downOn Linux use kill -9 <PID> to kill the HTTP serverAccess the BPEL console Result As you shut down the HTTP server, OPMN will restart the HTTP server. The restart may be so quick that the LBR may still route the request to the same server. One way to check if the HTTP server restared is to check the new PID and the timestamp in the access log for the BPEL console. BPEL test cases This section is going to cover scenarios dealing with BPEL clustering using jGroups, BPEL deployment and testing related to BPEL failover. Test Case 1 Verify that jGroups has initialized correctly. There is no real testing in this use case just a visual verification by looking at log files that jGroups has initialized correctly. Check the opmn log for the BPEL container for all nodes at $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/<group name><container name><group name>~1.log. Test Case 2  Test connectivity between BPEL Nodes Implementation Test connections between different cluster nodes using ping, telnet, and traceroute. The presence of firewalls and number of hops between cluster nodes can affect performance as they have a tendency to take down connections after some time or simply block them.Also reference Metalink Note 413783.1: "How to Test Whether Multicast is Enabled on the Network." Result Using the above tools you can confirm if Multicast is working  and whether BPEL nodes are commnunicating. Test Case3 Test deployment of BPEL suitcase to one BPEL node.  Implementation Deploy a HelloWorrld BPEL suitcase (or any other client specific BPEL suitcase) to only one BPEL instance using ant, or JDeveloper or via the BPEL consoleLog on to the second BPEL console to check if the BPEL suitcase has been deployed Result If jGroups has been configured and communicating correctly, BPEL clustering will allow you to deploy a suitcase to a single node, and jGroups will notify the second instance of the deployment. The second BPEL instance will go to the DB and pick up the new deployment after receiving notification. The result is that the new deployment will be "deployed" to each node, by only deploying to a single BPEL instance in the BPEL cluster. Test Case 4  Test to see if the BPEL server failsover and if all asynch processes are picked up by the secondary BPEL instance Implementation Deploy a 2 Asynch process: A ParentAsynch Process which calls a ChildAsynchProcess with a variable telling it how many times to loop or how many seconds to sleepA ChildAsynchProcess that loops or sleeps or has an onAlarmMake sure that the processes are deployed to both serversShut down one BPEL serverOn the active BPEL server call ParentAsynch a few times (use the load generation page)When you have enough ParentAsynch instances shut down this BPEL instance and start the other one.
