• JavaFX: Update of ListView if an element of ObservableList changes

  I would like to display a list of persons (coded in POJOS, and containing a name and surname property) using a JavaFX ListView control. I created the ListView and added the list of persons as an ObservableList. Everything works fine if I delete or add a new person to the ObservableList, but changes in the POJO do not trigger an update of the ListView. I have to remove and add the modified POJO from the ObservableList to trigger the update of the ListView. Is there any possibility to display changes in POJOS without the workaround described above?

  I am always looking to organize and make my resource bookmarks better and easiar to access when I need them. 1 thing I really like is code sharing sites, they let you enter in code and then give you a special link to give a friend or a user on this site even to show then code, This is a very useful tool I believe. So below is my list of code sharing sites, there is 4 on the list and they all have unique features. • Can't select View Content dropdown when adding view in MVC using Interfaces

  I have my Model defined externally in two projects - a Core project and an Interface project. I am opening the Add View dialogue from my controller, and selecting Create a strongly typed view. In the drop down list, I can select the concrete types like MyProject.Model.Core.OrderDetails, but the interface types like MyProject.Model.Interface.IOrderDetails aren't there. I can type the interface class in manually and everything works, but then the View content menu that lets you select the Create, Delete, List, etc scaffolding is disabled. Is there some problem with using interfaces in MVC? Or is it something else I'm missing?

• std::deque: How do I get an iterator pointing to the element at a specified index?

  I have a std::deque, and I want to insert an element at a specified index (I'm aware that std::list would be better at this). The deque::insert() function takes an iterator to specify the location to insert. Given an index, how can I get an iterator pointing to that location, so that I can pass that iterator to insert()? For example: void insertThing ( deque<Thing> & things, Thing thing, size_t index ) { deque<Thing>::iterator it = /* what do I do here? */ things.insert ( it, thing ); } I'm sure this is a very basic question, and I apologize for it. • jQuery change selected option's background on change of selected item

  I have a routine that dynamically changes a select list's "selected" option when the corresponding image from a carousel widget is clicked (it's a wordpress template selector). I'd just like to add a flash of background color, then fade to white, to give the user a visual cue that they've just changed the value of the template chooser select list. I've attempted at it below to assign the className "mySelectedOption" to the selected option, but its not working.   hello, I would like to leave the textbox via code. when user clicks in the textbox, and types in something , and then the user will click outside the textbox. on the screen there are just labels. only this one textbox is on the form. my problem is, that the textbox does not lost focus when I click everywhere on the screen. the texbox it still has the focus. this textbox is used to filter a list, built from labels. the complete story is: - I have no mainmenu on the screen, so the Sip icon is not visible - user clicks in the textbox, and i bring up the SIP, in the textbox.GotFocus event - user types in some letters, the list is filtered - if user clicks away, the SIP disappears (textbox.lostfocus), but the textbox still has the focus, I mean the cursor remains in the textbox - when user wants to type some other letters for filtering, it clicks in the textbox, but GotFocus does not fire how can I make the texbox to loose the focus?

  I have the opportunity to go back for MSCS and the closest college's main research is in computer security and forensics. I've always been interested in computer networks and security but I have no interest whatsoever to run cables or add users to the network( which is what the network people do where I currently work ). I wanted to know how may I find out the types of day to day task a computer security expert does? I don't mean the jobs you find on dice or indeed. I'm talking about the type of careers that start out at the NSA or DIA. Also, I'm wondering what the pay is like for these types of fields? Thanks to all that reply.

• PyML 0.7.2 - How to prevent accuracy from dropping after stroing/loading a classifier?

  This is a followup from "Save PyML.classifiers.multi.OneAgainstRest(SVM()) object?". The solution to that question was close, but not quite right, (the SparseDataSet is broken, so attempting to save/load with that dataset container type will fail, no matter what. Also, PyML is inconsistent in terms of whether labels should be numbers or strings... it turns out that the oneAgainstRest function is actually not good enough, because the labels need to be strings and simultaneously convertible to floats, because there are places where it is assumed to be a string and elsewhere converted to float) and so after a great deal of hacking and such I was finally able to figure out a way to save and load my multi-class classifier without it blowing up with an error.... however, although it is no longer giving me an error message, it is still not quite right as the accuracy of the classifier drops significantly when it is saved and then reloaded (so I'm still missing a piece of the puzzle). After that I can continue my selection. My question is how to remove this error and stuck? Any help is appreciated.

  Hello, I would like to achive the same functinoanlity in the UUTextField control as Google search web site (which uses Ajax for this): as user start typing, list of suggestion searches is shown. Then more letteres you type, suggestion list changes. So imaging I have array of words: Apple Abc Aman As user types A, all thress suggesions are shown, if user type one more letter p, then Apple is suggested. How would I do something like this? Mail type of applicatins do it, when receipent name is typed in the To: edit control I guess I can use UITableView with the search, is it correct approach?

• Changing a SUM returned NULL to zero

  I have a Stored Procedure as follows: CREATE PROC [dbo].[Incidents] (@SiteName varchar(200)) AS SELECT ( SELECT SUM(i.Logged) FROM tbl_Sites s INNER JOIN tbl_Incidents i ON s.Location = i.Location WHERE s.Sites = @SiteName AND i.[month] = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm, 0, GetDate()) -1,0) GROUP BY s.Sites ) AS LoggedIncidents 'tbl_Sites contains a list of reported on sites. 'tbl_Incidents containts a generated list of total incidents by site/date (monthly) 'If a site doesnt have any incidents that month it wont be listed. The problem I'm having is that a site doesnt have any Incidents this month and as such i get a NULL value returned for that site when i run this sproc, but i need to have a zero/0 returned to be used within a chart in SSRS. I've tried the using coalesce and isnull to no avail. SELECT COALESCE(SUM(c.Logged,0)) SELECT SUM(ISNULL(c.Logged,0)) Is there a way to get this formatted correctly? Cheers, Lee

• Dangers of Windows API and Administrator accounts?

  I wrote a game server plugin last night that allowed me to create a user account and set it as administrator, which is a huge problem. Of course the simple fix is to create a basic user account with limited privileges for the game servers, so they would not have access to do things like this. I wanted to find out if there's anything else in the Windows API that would create such a huge vulnerability though? I guess I want to just make sure that when the client's game servers accounts are moved to limited access accounts, we won't have to worry about any of them using the windows API to sabotage the machines. There is already enough exploits in the game itself to worry about, without having to worry about client's taking over the machines with plugins lol. Some of the questions relative would be... Can you disable/enable Remote Desktop from c++? Can you get a list of AD user groups from c++? (not that a user belongs to, but a complete list)

• DataAdapter Select string from base table schema?

  When I built my .xsd, I had to choose the columns for each table, and it made a schema for the tables, right? So how can I get that Select string to use as a base Select command for new instances of dataadapters, and then just append a Where and OrderBy clause to it as needed? That would keep me from having to keep each DataAdapter's field list (for the same table) in synch with the schema of that table in the .xsd file. Isn't it common to have several DataAdapters that work on a certain table schema, but with different params in the Where and OrderBy clauses? Surely one does not have to maintain (or even redundently build) the field list part of the Select strings for half a dozen DataAdapters that all work off of the same table schema. I'm envisioning something like this pseudo code: BaseSelectString = MyTypedDataSet.JobsTable.GetSelectStringFromSchema() // Is there such a method or technique? • Implementation question involving implementing an interface

  I'm writing a set of collection classes for different types of Trees. I'm doing this as a learning exercise and I'm also hoping it turns out to be something useful. I really want to do this the right way and so I've been reading Effective Java and I've also been looking at the way Joshua Bloch implemented the collection classes by looking at the source. I seem to have a fair idea of what is being done, but I still have a few things to sort out. I have a Node<T> interface and an AbstractNode<T> class that implements the Node interface. I then created a GenericNode<T> (a node that can have 0 to n children, and that is part of an n-ary tree) class that extends AbstractNode<T> and implements Node<T>. This part was easy. Next, I created a Tree<T> interface and an AbstractTree<T> class that implements the Tree<T> interface. After that, I started writing a GenericTree<T> class that extends AbstractTree<T> and implements Tree<T>. This is where I started having problems. As far as the design is concerned, a GenericTree<T> can only consist of nodes of type GenericTreeNode<T>. This includes the root. In my Tree<T> interface I have: public interface Tree<T> { void setRoot(Node<T> root); Node<T> getRoot(); List<Node<T>> postOrder(); ... rest omitted ... } And, AbstractTree<T> implements this interface: public abstract class AbstractTree<T> implements Tree<T> { protected Node<T> root; protected AbstractTree() { } protected AbstractTree(Node<T> root) { this.root = root; } public void setRoot(Node<T> root) { this.root = root; } public Node<T> getRoot() { return this.root; } ... rest omitted ... } In GenericTree<T>, I can have: public GenericTree(Node<T> root) { super(root); } But what this means is that you can create a generic tree using any subtype of Node<T>. You can also set the root of a tree to any subtype of Node<T>. I want to be able to restrict the type of the node to the type of the tree that it can represent. To fix this, I can do this: public GenericTree(GenericNode<T> root) { super(root); } However, setRoot still accepts a parameter of type Node<T>. Which means a user can still create a tree with the wrong type of root node. How do I enforce this constraint? The only way I can think of doing is either: Do an instanceof which limits the check to runtime. I'm not a huge fan of this. Remove setRoot from the interface and have the base class implement this method. This means that it is not part of the contract and anyone who wants to make a new type of tree needs to remember to implement this method. Is there a better way? The second question I have concerns the return type of postOrder which is List<Node<T>>. This means that if a user is operating on a GenericTree<T> object and calls postOrder, he or she receives a list that consists of Node<T> objects. This means when iterating through (using a foreach construct) they would have perform an explicit cast to GenericNode<T> if they want to use methods that are only defined in that class. I don't like having to place this burden on the user. What are my options in this case? I can only think of removing the method from the interface and have the subclass implement this method making sure that it returns a list of appropriate subtype of Node<T>. However, this once again removes it from the contract and it's anyone who wants to create a new type of tree has to remember to implement this method. Is there a better way?

• Kohana or CodeIgniter?

  I'm looking for a PHP framework. I did a research here and found CodeIgniter would be best for me. But then I discovered that there is Kohana based on CodeIgniter. And I'm annoyed, because since Kohana is based on CodeIgniter, it should work similar, but it is optimized for PHP 5, so it should be faster in a PHP 5 environment. I was going to choose Kohana and then I found benchmarks that points CodeIgniter as the faster one. I don't understand it. If Kohana is updated more frequently and optimized for PHP 5, shouldn't it be better then? I'm experienced PHP programmer, but Smarty is the only framework I know, and I don't want to waste next few month for learning a bad framework. Thanks for your reply, I will give Kohana a try.

What am i doing wrong?

• Use trackball for scrolling in Android ListView

  hi, i have a ListView, whose content should not be selectable. i set the ListView to choiceMode="none" and set a transparent listSelector. for touch mode it acts as desired. a problem is the use of the trackball. if i try to use it for scrolling, the scroll starts after the 10th push to "down". this is caused by the invisible listSelector, which scrolls down the list until the 10th list item is "invisibily" selected. i try to override dispatchTrackballEvent and do the scrolling with scrollBy, but i did not finished this approach yet, to have a look on alternative suggestions. is there a simple solution for my problem?

• I'm trying to install Spree on my Mac with Rails 1.9.2 - I'm getting an error message.

  I'm doing a local install on Mac OSX of Spree (a Ruby-based ecommerce package) following the tutorial on this page. I'm using RVM to run Ruby 1.9.2 and rails 3.0.3. I run "gem install spree" successfully to load spree version 0.40. But when I run "Gem Install Spree" I get the following message. Can anyone help? /Library/Ruby/Site/1.8/rubygems.rb:335:in `bin_path': can't find executable spree for spree-0.40.0 (Gem::Exception) from /usr/bin/spree:19 Also, when I run "Gem list spree" I get an empty list.

  We have a .NET application talking to Oracle 10g. Our DBA recently pulled a list of queries where executions is equal to parse_calls. We assumed that this would help us find all of the unparameterized queries in our code. Unexpectedly, the following query showed up near the top of this list, with 1,436,169 executions and 1,436,151 parses: SELECT bar.foocolumn FROM bartable bar, baztable baz WHERE bar.some_id = :someId AND baz.another_id = :anotherId AND baz.some_date BETWEEN bar.start_date AND (nvl(bar.end_date, baz.some_date + (1/84600)) - (1/84600)) Why is executions equal to parse_calls for this query?

• Storing Temporary Items Without User Having to Register

  I have a ruby on rails app where I want users to be able to store a list. The list is similar to a shopping cart except for the fact that they input their own items. I would like store everything in the session, but this seems like it would get complicated and would start to take up space after a while. The other way of doing it was to create temporary entries in the database with a "temp" flag and session id so that they could come back to it. The only problem with this is, how do I clean out stale entries?
