• Ant failed to build

  Hi, I have build a Java appliction which is using ant.jar (ant 1.8.2) classes for building android application from it's build.xml file with release as target. My Android project has been built by using android create project command, using sdk 2.2. When I run my application for building the Android application I get the following message - build.xml:46: taskdef class com.android.ant.SetupTask cannot be found I have verified the sdk.dir path and the sdk-location path and both are correct. • Hibernate bug using Oracle?

  Hello, I've got the problem, that I use a property in the persistence.xml which forces Hibernate to look only for tables in the given schema. <property name="hibernate.default_schema" value="FOO"/> Because we are using now 4 different schemas the actual solution is to generate 4 war files with a modified persistence.xml. That not very elegant. Does anybody know, how I can configure the schema with a property or by manipulation the JDBC connection string? I'm using Oracle 10g, 10_2_3 Patch. Thanks a lot.

  In C# ASP.NET, if we have the characters < or in a string. Do we need to escape it like: string a = "\<test\>abcdef\</test\>" because this string will be send to an external method via webservices. But I still don't understand why we need to utilize different HTTP requests: DELETE/PUT/POST/GET in order to build nice API Wouldn't it be a lot simpler to pass all information in request parameters and have a SINGLE ENTRY-POINT for your api?: GET www.example.com/api?id=1&method=delete&returnformat=JSON GET www.example.com/api?id=1&method=delete&returnformat=XML or POST www.example.com/api {post data: id=1&method=delete&returnformat=JSON} POST www.example.com/api {post data: id=1&method=delete&returnformat=XML} and then - we can handle all methods and data internally without the need for hundreds of urls... how would you call this type of API - It's not REST apparently, it's not SOAP. then - what is it?   Let's say I have an XML file that will look like this: <a> <b d="value1"/> <c d="value2"/> </a> In the XSD file that defines the structure of this XML file I defined the elements by name 'b' and 'c' to be of the same type (and the type requires attribute 'd'). Let's say that I want to make a keyReference of all elements of the type that both 'b' and 'c' are, is there any way in XPath to do this? At the definition of the type of 'a' I would expect something like this: <xs:keyref name="myReferenceName" refer="keyToReferTo"> <xs:selector xpath="[@type='typenameof elements b and c?']"/> <xs:field xpath="@d"/> </xs:keyref> Is something like this possible, or is XPath, even in the XSD, schema-unaware?

• Nokogiri Not Parsing File

  I'm using Nokogiri to parse pepXML files from different peptide search engines. I have two pepXML files, both of which appear, inasmuch as I can tell, to be of correct format, and puts Nokogiri::XML(IO.read(file)) will output the whole XML file for both files. The problem is, doc.xpath("any valid xpath") will parse the tag from one of the files, but not the other. No errors are given, so I have no idea why it won't parse. Anyone know of any reasons why Nokogiri wouldn't parse something out?

  Is it possible to create objects at designtime without having to have hard coded class definitions, then populate properties with primitives or even strongly typed data types? This might sound confusing, so I will attempt to give you a use case scenario. Use case: You have an XML config file that could hold configuration values for connecting to various systems in an SOA application. In C# the XML file is read, but for each system the configuration properties are different (e.g: SQL might have a connection string, while SharePoint might need a username + password + domain + url, while yet an smtp server would need username + password + port + url) So instead of creating static classes as follows public class SharePointConfiguration or public class SQLConfiguration, then have each class with custom properties (this is cumbersome) or using a 1990's method, an arrayList or some named collection Is there not a more preferred way to achieve this? Taking advantage of new language features, that can still offer design time intellisense, which would make the code easier to maintain and less prone to error. Thanks

However, as the name would imply, the delegate Service needs a reference to the original service to delegate calls to. • Manage duplicate jar files using ant and ivy.

  HI, I am using ant build script to build my java app and utilizing Ivy to manage its dependency. As my application is dependent/subset of other application(Main App), when running it, I set the classpath to point to lib jars of the Main App. As I tried to build the kit using ant and ivy, it includes/retrieve all the jars that is required as specified in ivy.xml The problem is, some of the jar files are duplicated with with jars file in the main app folders. Is there a way to set the classpath in build.xml to ignore retrieving jar files that already exist in the main app's lib folder. Thanks

• Is it correct or incorrect for a Java JAR to contain its own dependencies?

  I guess this is a two-part question. I am trying to write my own Ant task (MyFirstTask) that can be used in other project's build.xml buildfiles. To do this, I need to compile and package my Ant task inside its own JAR. Because this Ant task that I have written is fairly complicated, it has about 20 dependencies (other JAR files), such as using XStream for OX-mapping, Guice for DI, etc. I am currently writing the package task in the build.xml file inside the MyFirstTask project (the buildfile that will package myfirsttask.jar, which is the reusable Ant task). I am suddenly realizing that I don't fully understand the intention of a Java JAR. Is it that a JAR should not contain dependencies, and leave it to the runtime configuration (the app container, the runtime environment, etc.) to supply it with the dependencies it needs? I would assume if this is the case, an executable JAR is an exception to the rule, yes? Or, is it the intention for Java JARs to also include their dependencies? Either way, I don't want to be forcing my users to be copying-n-pasting 25+ JARs into their Ant libs; that's just cruel. I like the way WAR files are set up, where the classpath for dependencies is defined under the classes/ directory. I guess, ultimately, I'd like my JAR structure to look like: myfirsttask.jar/ com/ --> the root package of my compiled binaries config/ --> config files, XML, XSD, etc. classes/ --> all dependencies, guice-3.0.jar, xstream-1.4.3.jar, etc. META-INF/ MANIFEST.MF I assume that in order to accomplish this (and get the runtime classpath to also look into the classes/ directory), I'll need to modify the MANIFEST.MF somehow (I know there's a manifest attribute called ClassPath, I believe?). I'm just having a tough time putting everything together, and have a looming/lingering question about the very intent of JARs to begin with. Can someone please confirm whether Oracle intends for JARs to contain their dependencies or not? And, either way, what I would have to do in the manifest (or anywhere else) to make sure that, at runtime, the classpath can find the dependencies stored under the classes/ directory? Look at the definition of NameStartChar: NameStartChar ::= ":" | [A-Z] | "_" | [a-z] | [#xC0-#xD6] | [#xD8-#xF6] | [#xF8-#x2FF] | [#x370-#x37D] | [#x37F-#x1FFF] | [#x200C-#x200D] | [#x2070-#x218F] | [#x2C00-#x2FEF] | [#x3001-#xD7FF] | [#xF900-#xFDCF] | [#xFDF0-#xFFFD] | [#x10000-#xEFFFF] If I interpret this correctly, the last range (#x10000-#xEFFFF) goes beyond the UTF16 range of Java's char type. So it must be UTF32, right? So, I need to check pairs of char against this range, instead of single chars, right? My questions are: How do I check for such character ranges using standard Java methods? How is it possible to define such ranges in JavaCC? JavaCC complains about \u10000 and \uEFFFF Thank you! • [PHP] - Lowering script memory usage in a "big" file creation

  Hi there people, it looks like I'm facing a typical memory outage problem when using a PHP script. The script, originally developed by another person, serves as an XML sitemap creator, and on large websites uses quite a lot of memory. I thought that the problem was related due to an algorithm holding data in memory until the job was done, but digging into the code I have discovered that the script works in this way: open file in output (will contain XML sitemap entries) in the loop: ---- for each entry to be added in sitemap, do fwrite close file end Although there are no huge arrays or variables being kept in memory, this technique uses a lot of memory. I thought that maybe PHP was buffering under the hood the fwrites and "flushing" data at the end of the script, so I have modified the code to close and open the file every Nth record, but the memory usage is still the same.... I'm debugging the script on my computer and watching memory usage: while script execution runs, memory allocation grows. Is there a particular technique to instruct PHP to free unsed memory, to force flushing buffers if any? Thanks

• Flash: How to preload upcoming SWF while current one plays

  I have a Flash slideshow that plays SWFs listed in an XML file. I would like to have the upcoming SWF load while the current one displays. I've tried all sorts of combinations of LoadMovie and LoadMovieNum, including creating an empty movie clip, but there's something I'm just not getting. Right now, after making the first round through all the files, it transitions smoothly from slide to slide, but I'd like for it to preload so that it transitions without the "Loading..." screen the first time around.
