  • Display a jQuery Dialog/Popup, then set a hidden field using the result of the dialog

    The Problem I have a page with a form on. It has a hidden field called: generic_portrait I want the user to click a link "select portrait" This will open a Dialog/Popup using jQuery, based on a dropdown completed earlier in the form. If the value of the dropdown called "gender" is "male" then show male options, if "gender" is set to "female" show female options. Each portrait has a radio button, each with a name assigned "male1", "male2" etc Depending on the radio button selected in the popup, I want the hidden field to be set to match this. The Questions What is the best way to show a dialog/popup using jQuery, different depending on a dropdown box on the page. Use Javascript to see what is selected, then show a corresponding Div? I can do the check to see what the dropdown is set to using jQuery, but how can I then shown a specific popup based on that? Once i've popped it up, how do I take the value assigned to the selected radio box, and set the hidden field called "generic_portrait" to this value. Why i'm asking Normally I would figure this out myself, as i'm sure it's not that difficult, but I don't use Javascript and/or PHP very often, and this is due for a client urgently. So I would really, really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks for all replies in advance.

  • Event when the user changes font size in browser?

    I need to get informed when the user changes the font size in it's browser. I need it to reposition some elements which have to be relative in one dimension to an anchor inside a text. So far i haven't found anything and i'm a bit worried that it's not possible. In this case it should be possible to emulate it with a hidden div and some text inside and a script polling for changes of it's width. But i hope someone has a more elegant solution.

  • CSS to Make 2 Column Content Areas

    I'm trying to stray away from using tables to form the layout of my content, and I can think of two alternatives that I'd like to better learn: (1) styling list items to be side-by-side, and (2) using div blocks that float onto the same line. Both of these would have their own uses for what I'm working on. I'm already using div tags to form the entire layout of my three-column template, but what I need to do now is a bit different. In case it helps, my project can be found here. In short, here's my question; how would I style a div so that the width of it is 50% of the width of the area it occupies, rather than 50% of the width of the page? As for my other question, what would be the best approach to styling list items so that they are side-by-side? I'm working on a registration script now, and instead of using a table with "Username" on the left and the input text on the right, I can use two list items. It's late and I've been working on this project of mine for about 8 hours straight now, so I apologize if I'm asking anything confusing. Feel free to ask me any questions about what I'm trying to do.   • jQuery not working as expected on HTTPS Internet explorer

    When I try to run my code on any other webbrowsers apart from the Internet explorer it works fine. But when I try to run the code on Internet explorer I do get an alert box saying HERE along with an Ok button. but the problem is when I click on that OK button I do not get anything.     At my job, we have pseudo-standard of creating one table to hold the "standard" information for an entity, and a second table, named like 'TableNameDetails', which holds optional data elements. On average, for every row in the main table will have about 8-10 detail rows in it. My question is: What kind of performance impacts does this have over adding these details as additional nullable columns on the main table?

  • IBOutlets are always nil

    Hi, In IB I have subclassed the File Owner and the subclass loads my .nib. The subclass itself doesn't need access to the IBOutlets so they're instance variables in another class, which I added as a subclass of NSObject in the .nib. Then I connected the interface elements to that object. But somehow, in the class that "owns" the IBOutlets, they show up as nil. What am I doing wrong here?

    I cannot supply a follow up question as of yet to Get the element under a touchend , so I am opening a new issue. I want to get the element under a touchend that is different from the touchstart, but my page has absolutely positioned elements, and the function document.elementFromPoint keeps on returning my background element instead of every element in front of it. How do I get the actual element being touched?
