  • After installing .net 3.5 SP1, get missing DLL error

    I just installed a number of updates to my machine, and am now encountering the following error when I run an asp.net MVC application on my local machine: Compiler Error Message: CS0006: Metadata file 'C:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_32\System.EnterpriseServices\2.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\System.EnterpriseServices.dll' could not be found I have removed the reference to this from the project (not really sure why it was there in the first place) but still get the error. Any idea on how to resolve this?

    Hi, Let's say I have a MySQL database with 3 tables: table 1: Persons, with 1 column ID (int) table 2: Newsletters, with 1 column ID (int) table 3: Subscriptions, with columns Person_ID (int), Newsletter_ID (int), Subscribed (bool), Updated (Datetime) Subscriptions.Person_ID points to a Person, and Subscription.Newsletter_ID points to a Newsletter. Thus, each person may have 0 or more subscriptions to 0 or more magazines at once. The table Subscriptions will also store the entire history of each person's subscriptions to each newsletter. If a particular Person_ID-Newsletter_ID pair doesn't have a row in the Subscriptions table, then it's equivalent to that pair having a subscription status of 'false'. Here is a sample dataset Persons ID 1 2 3 Newsletters ID 4 5 6 Subscriptions Person_ID Newsletter_ID Subscribed Updated 2 4 true 2010-05-01 3 4 true 2010-05-01 3 5 true 2010-05-10 3 4 false 2010-05-15 Thus, as of 2010-05-16, Person 1 has no subscription, Person 2 has a subscription to Newsletter 4, and Person 3 has a subscription to Newsletter 5. Person 3 had a subscription to Newsletter 4 for a while, but not anymore. I'm trying to do 2 kinds of query. A query that shows everyone's active subscriptions as of query time (we can assume that updated will never be in the future -- thus, this means returning the record with the latest 'updated' value for each Person_ID-Newsletter_ID pair, as long as Subscribed is true (if the latest record for a Person_ID-Newsletter_ID pair has a Subscribed status of false, then I don't want that record returned)). A query that returns all active subscriptions for a specific newsletter - same qualification as in 1. regarding records with 'false' in the Subscribed column. I don't use SQL/databases often enough to tell if this design is good, or if the SQL queries needed would be slow on a database with, say, 1M records in the Subscriptions table. I was using the Visual query builder tool in Visual Studio 2010 but I can't even get the query to return the latest updated record for each Person_ID-Newsletter_ID pair. Is it possible to come up with SQL queries that don't involve using subqueries (presumably because they would become too slow with a larger data set)? If not, would it be a better design to have a separate Subscriptions_History table, and every time a subscription status for a Person_ID-Newsletter-ID pair is added to Subscriptions, any existing record for that pair is moved to Subscriptions_History (that way the Subscriptions table only ever contains the latest status update for any Person_ID-Newsletter_ID pair)? I'm using .net on Windows, so would it be easier (or the same, or harder) to do this kind of queries using Linq? Entity Framework? Thanks!

  • Optimize slow ranking query

    I need to optimize a query for a ranking that is taking forever (the query itself works, but I know it's awful and I've just tried it with a good number of records and it gives a timeout). I'll briefly explain the model. I have 3 tables: player, team and player_team. I have players, that can belong to a team. Obvious as it sounds, players are stored in the player table and teams in team. In my app, each player can switch teams at any time, and a log has to be mantained. However, a player is considered to belong to only one team at a given time. The current team of a player is the last one he's joined. The structure of player and team is not relevant, I think. I have an id column PK in each. In player_team I have: id (PK) player_id (FK -> player.id) team_id (FK -> team.id) Now, each team is assigned a point for each player that has joined. So, now, I want to get a ranking of the first N teams with the biggest number of players. My first idea was to get first the current players from player_team (that is one record top for each player; this record must be the player's current team). I failed to find a simple way to do it (tried GROUP BY player_team.player_id HAVING player_team.id = MAX(player_team.id), but that didn't cut it. I tried a number of querys that didn't work, but managed to get this working. SELECT COUNT(*) AS total, pt.team_id, p.facebook_uid AS owner_uid, t.color FROM player_team pt JOIN player p ON (p.id = pt.player_id) JOIN team t ON (t.id = pt.team_id) WHERE pt.id IN ( SELECT max(J.id) FROM player_team J GROUP BY J.player_id ) GROUP BY pt.team_id ORDER BY total DESC LIMIT 50 As I said, it works but looks very bad and performs worse, so I'm sure there must be a better way to go. I'm using phpMyAdmin and this is my SQL: DELIMITER // CREATE PROCEDURE test_select() BEGIN SELECT * FROM products LIMIT 10; END // DELIMITER ; After submitting that, my localhost does some thinking for a loooong time and eventually loads a page with no content called /phpmyadmin/import.php. After reloading phpMyAdmin and trying to invoke the procedure: CALL test_select(); I get a "PROCEDURE doesn't exist" error. Any ideas?

    I know the standard answer for a linker error about missing typeinfo usually also involves vtable and some virtual function that I forgot to actually define. I'm fairly certain that's not the situation this time. Obviously, I'm trimming away a lot of details that might be important. My next step is to cut it down to the smallest example that fails to build, but I figured I'd try the lazy way out and take a stab on here first. TIA!

Internal error: Failed to generate a hash string I have no idea what is causing this but even if I change the dimension back to how it was and try to deploy I get the same error. If anyone has seen this or knows how to fix it please respond.

    I followed the instructions here in order to set up a private git server on my Amazon EC2 instance. However, I am having problems when trying to SSH into the git account. Specifically, I get the error "Permission denied (publickey)."   • alter mysqldump file before import

    Hi-- I have a mysqldump file created from an earlier version of a product that can't be imported into a new version of the product, since the db structure has changed slightly (mainly altering a column that was NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 to UNIQUE KEY DEFAULT NULL). If I just import the old dump file, it will error out since the column that has default values of 0 now breaks the UNIQUE constraint. It would be easy enough to either manually alter the mysqldump file, or import into a temp table and change it, then copy to the new table. However, is there a way to do this programatically, so it will be repeatable and not manual? (this will need to happen for many instances of this product). I'm thinking something like disabling key constraints for the import, then setting all values that = 0 to NULL, then re-enabling the key constraints? Is this possible? Any help appreciated.

  • I keep getting OpenSSL Header Version not found error when compiling OpenSSH Debian Squeeze

    I built Openssl1.0.0d ./config shared no-threads zlib It installed fine to the default /usr/local/ssl I went and downloaded OpenSSH 5.8p2 and ran ./configure but now it keeps giving me a Openssl version header not found error even when I set --with-ssl-dir= I've tried it with arguments /usr/local/ssl/include /usr/local/ssl/include/openssl /usr/include /usr/local/ssl/lib I looked in config.log and found error: openssl/opensslv.h: no such file or directory which makes little sense since I pointed openssh to where it is store. /etc/ld.so.conf include /usr/local/ssl/lib I'm at a loss at this point. Answer (maybe): Because I am an idiot. include /usr/local/ssl/lib is incorrect. /usr/local/ssl/lib is correct. It needs to be before the first include.

There is no syntactical error, because above code is working fine for small images, but for large images, it gives: Error 321 (net::ERR_INVALID_CHUNKED_ENCODING): Unknown error. in the browser. To be sure, I created two images using imagemagick from same source image - one resized to 10% of original and other 90%. http://mostpopularsports.net/images/misc/ttt10.jpg works http://mostpopularsports.net/images/misc/ttt90.jpg gives Error 301 in the browser. There is a related question with solution posted by OP here Error writing content through Apache. but I cannot understand how to make the fix. Can someome help me with it? I have looked at the headers in Chrome. For the first request, everything is fine. For the second request - the request headers are all garbled. Both images are jpeg (as they are created from imagemagick. But still to be sure I checked): misc/ttt10.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 misc/ttt90.jpg: JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01 Finally, the way I fixed is, remove the Transfer-Encoding: chunked header from the response. [This header was sent by apache only when the data was large enough]. (I had an internal proxy, so did it in the proxy script - otherwise one may need to do it in apache settings). There were some good answers and I have selected the one that helped me solve the problem best. thanks JP

I read on the net this error could be caused by referencing multiple projects but I tried to move every package in a single project but the error is still there. I tried with multiple JDE version (currently 4.7) and the Java compiler is set to 1.6. Eclipse version is 3.4.1 as recommended by RIM's documentations. Does someone have some clue?

  • How do I create a safe local development environment?

    I'm currently doing web development with another developer on a centralized development server. In the past this has worked alright, as we have two separate projects we are working on and rarely conflict. Now, however, we are adding a third (possible) developer into the mix. This is clearly going to create problems with other developers changes affecting my work and vice versa. To solve this problem, I'm thinking the best solution would be to create a virtual machine to distribute between the developers for local use. The problem I have is when it comes to the database. Given that we all develop on laptops, simply keeping a local copy of the live data is plain stupid. I've considered sanitizing the data, but I can't really figure out how to replace the real data, with data that would be representative of what people actually enter with out repeating the same information over and over again, e.g. everyone's address becomes 123 Testing Lane, Test Town, WA, 99999 or something. Is this really something to be concerned about? Are there tools to help with this sort of thing? I'm using MySQL. Ideally, if I sanitized the db it should be done from a script that I can run regularly. If I do this I'd also need a way to reduce the size of the db itself. (I figure I could select all the records created after x and whack them and all the records in corresponding tables out so that isn't really a big deal.) The second solution I've thought of is to encrypt the hard drive of the vm, but I'm unsure of how practical this is in terms of speed and also in the event of a lost/stolen laptop. If I do this, should the vm hard drive file itself be encrypted or should it be encrypted in the vm? (I'm assuming the latter as it would be portable and doesn't require the devs to have any sort of encryption capability on their OS of choice.) The third is to create a copy of the database for each developer on our development server that they are then responsible to keep the schema in sync with the canonical db by means of migration scripts or what have you. This solution seems to be the simplest but doesn't really scale as more developers are added. How do you deal with this problem?

During report processing i am facing an error which states.."An error has occured during report processing .Query execution failed for dataset (datasetno).A severe error occured opn the current command.The results if any,should be discarded.Operation cancelled by user ". The datasetname for which query execution is failing is changing randomly.When I am executing those dataset queries seperately it was not throwing any errors.Sometimes I am getting my report without any failure. I am really fix in this issue.Don't have any clue how to solve this error. plz anyone help me. Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I am getting the following error when I try to push my app to heroku. I saw a similar thread on here, but the issues seemed related to OSX. I am running windows 7 $ git push heroku master Counting objects: 1652, done. Delta compression using up to 4 threads. fatal: object 91f5d3ee9e2edcd42e961ed2eb254d5181cbc734 inconsistent object lengt h (476 vs 8985) error: pack-objects died with strange error error: failed to push some refs to '[email protected]:floating-stone-94.git I'm not sure what this means. I can't find any consistent answers on the internet. I tried re-creating my ssh public key but still the same.

  • Win7 XP mode install fails with cryptic error

    Trying to install XPmode on Win7 Professional 64-bit SP1, but getting an error. I downloaded XPMode, Virtual PC and the update as specified here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx. When I open XP mode for the first time it goes into the setup ("Setting up Windows XP Mode for first use..."; pick your VM password, etc.), then it runs through the progress bar until almost the end (99%?). At that point I get the error: Could not complete Setup. Please try again. Whats going on here? I've uninstalled Virtual PC and xpmode, and reinstalled in several different orders, no luck. Is there some log file that will tell me whats happening? Theres nothing showing up in the Event log that I can find. How can I fix this?
