  I have a for loop that I will use to compute time intervals to add to an ArrayList. The problem is that I can not prove that the for loop is being executed.   HI, I am trying to retrive the filname of the image file from a file path in my code. My filepath: c:\mydocuments\pictures\image.jpg which method can i use in c# to get he filename of the above mentioned path. Like String file = image.jpg I have used the system.drawing to get he path, but it returns null. my code: string file = System.drawing.image.fromfile(filepath,true); Is this the right way to get the image file name or is there any other inbuilt method in c#. Pls help me on this?

  I am creating an application that can be executed in any windows version, even in mobile's, and I am trying to get the current directory of the executable. The problem is that if I use the following code, it doesn't compile in Windows Mobile: string currentDirectory = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Windows.Forms.Application.ExecutablePath); And if I use this code, I receive something like: file:\C:\xxx string currentDirectory = System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Windows.Forms.Application.ExecutablePath); Although, I need to get the root drive, and this code doesn't compile in Windows Mobile: String rootPath = Path.GetPathRoot(Environment.SystemDirectory); Does anyone know how to get the current directory of the application and the root path for any windows version, even mobile's?

  I am getting this error when I use the Linq expression of var emp = _testModel.Where(m => m.Date == DateTime.Now).Select(m=>m); 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' does not contain a definition for 'System' and no extension method 'System' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Collections.Generic.IEnumerable' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). I have google'd and looked everywhere by I have no idea what it is talking about? It doesn't throw an exception. The only way I found out about this was stepping through the expression.

  hey people hope all is well.. i am trying to create a form in VS using ASP that when upon submitting a form the details will get automatically stored in an xml file which can be accessed later on a chosen file save path i have 2 files ... "Contact.aspx" and "Contact.aspx.vb" i have created the form in the "Contact.aspx" and when trying to enter the fields in the "contact.aspx.vb" i keep getting several errors such as for example... Error 5 'Formatting' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder' Error 6 'WriteStartDocument' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. Error 7 'WriteComment' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. Error 8 'WriteStartElement' is not a member of 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlBuilder'. I think that it is easier to read and to handle cut and paste than the other kind of coding style. • Jscrollpane causese text to disappear on internet explorer

  There are developers who understand a technology and produce a solution months or years ahead of its time. I worked with a guy who designed an system using C# beta which would monitor different system components on several servers. He used SQL Server that would pick up these system monitoring components (via reflection) and would instantiate them via an NT Service. The simplicity in this design, was that another developer (me), who understood part of a system, would produce a component that could monitor it, as he had the specialized knowledge of that part of the system. I would derive from the monitor base class (to start, stop and log info), install on the monitoring server GAC and then add an entry to the components table in sql server. Then the main engine would pick up this component and do its magic. I understood parts of it, but couldn't work out by derive from a base class, why add to the GAC etc. This was 6 years ago and it took me months to realize what he achieved. What programming technique not done by you was ahead of its time? EDIT : Techniques that you have seen at work or journals/blogs - I don't mean historically over years.

But having variables with names like "inputStream0" and "inputStream1" is an antipattern too, so for this code I'm working on, anonymous code blocks would be helpful.

• Using jQuery to slideToggle a group of Table Rows

  Hi. I'm fairly new to javaScript and jQuery, so hopefully this will be a quick fix. I need to display a table containing data that can be grouped into several categories, and I'd like to implement a slideToggle that hides/reveals all of the observations in each given category. The code below should (ideally) display a table with 4 columns and 9 rows, with every group of 3 rows preceded by a green "Section i" row. I would like each Section header to work as a slideToggle that expands or collapses all of the rows beneath it. Right now, nothing is collapsing.   I am trying to find out the reason why when I apply affine transformations on an image in OpenCV, the result of it is not visible in the preview window, but the entire window is black.How can I find workaround for this problem so that I can always view my transformed image (the result of the affine transform) in the window no matter the applied transformation? Update: I think that this happens because all the transformations are calculated with respect to the origin of the coordinate system (top left corner of the image). While for rotation I can specify the center of the rotation, and I am able to view the result, when I perform scaling I am not able to control where the transformed image goes. Is it possible to somehow move the coordinate system to make the image fit in the window? Update2: I have an image which contains only ROI at some position in it (the rest of the image is black), and I need to apply a set of affine transforms on it. To make things simpler and to see the effect of each individual transform, I applied each transform one by one. What I noticed is that, whenever I move (translate) the image such that the center of the ROI is in the center of the coordinate system (top left corner of the view window), all the affine transforms perform correctly without moving. However, by translating the center of ROI at the center of the coordinate system, the upper and the left part of the ROI remain cut out of the current view window. If I move ROI's central point to another point in the view window (for example the window center), an affine transform of type: A=[a 0 0; 0 b 0] (A is 2x3 matrix, parameter of the warpAffine function) moves the image (ROI), outside of the view window (which doesn't happen if the ROI's center is in the top-left corner). How can I modify the affine transform so the image doesn't move out of its place (behaves the same way as when the ROI center is in the center of the coordinate system)?

  I want to draw and manipulate logic flow (as opposed to analog) circuit diagrams and I'm trying not to reinvent the wheel. Problems like positioning, line drawing, line crossing and connecting, path finding, rubberband lines, and drag & drop are also identical in flow charts, UML diagrams, or class diagrams so I started by viewing related topics via Google and Stack Overflow. However, the following requirements seemed to keep me from finding anything that quite fit: assuming a chip has an image with input and output stubs, the connecting lines would connect to the chip only in the exact spots of the I/O stubs the color of connecting lines are able to be set as per a chip's output Is there an existing .NET 2d graphics library that would be suitable for drawing circuit diagrams?
