  • Use the output of a command as input of the next command

    so i call this php script from the command line : /usr/bin/php /var/www/bims/index.php "projects/output" and it's output is : file1 file2 file3 What I would like to do is get this output and feed to the "rm" command but i think im not doing it right : /usr/bin/php /var/www/bims/index.php "projects/output" | rm My goal is to delete whatever file names the php script outputs. What should be the proper way to do this? Thanks!

  • C++ vector and segmentation faults

    I am working on a simple mathematical parser. Something that just reads number = 1 + 2; I have a vector containing these tokens. They store a type and string value of the character. I am trying to step through the vector to build an AST of these tokens, and I keep getting segmentation faults, even when I am under the impression my code should prevent this from happening.     For example: if I am retrieving User.Identity.Name, does it come from .ASPXAUTH cookie or is retrieved from the database using my membership provider? Are any database requests made when I access User.Identity? Thanks. EDIT: Right now I am pretty sure it comes from an authentication ticket cookie, but can't find any official documentation to confirm this. Anyone?

    What is the minimum number of bits needed to represent a single character of encrypted text. eg, if I wanted to encrypt the letter 'a', how many bits would I require. (assume there are many singly encrypted characters using the same key.) Am I right in thinking that it would be the size of the key. eg 256 bits?

    Hi, I have a StreamReader object that I initialized with a stream, now I want to save this stream to disk (the stream may be a gif or jpg or pdf etc). SO my code so far is: StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(myOtherObject.InputStream); I need to save this to disk (I have the filename). In the future I may want to store this to sqlserver I have the encoding type also, which I will need if I store it to sql server right?

I want to create a new variable GDP1960, which gives the GDP in 1960 of each country for each year: USA $100m 1960 USA $100m 1960 $100m USA $200m 1965 --> USA $200m 1965 $100m Canada $60m 1960 Canada $60m 1960 $60m What's the right syntax to make this happen?     In Visual Studio 2010 (RC) there is no longer a "browse with" context menu when right clicking .aspx pages. How can you change the default browser now? By default it seems to use the operating system default browser, but I would prefer to use IE when debugging ASP.net apps. (I am testing this with ASP.net MVC 2)

    Is it possible to include a Silverlight (3) out-of-browser application to the add-or-remove programs list? The intention is to be able to remove the OOB application that way (not just by right-clicking from within the running app)? If the OOB app is installed with a shortcut to the desktop and you try to delete the shortcut you are presented with the standard 'you are just deleting a shortcut if you want to delete the application go to add or remove programs' dialog. I want to tidy up this inconsistency.

  • Why is Serializable Attribute required for an object to be serialized

    Based on my understanding SerializableAttribute provides no compile time checks, as its all done at runtime, then why is it required for classes to be marked as serializable? Couldn't sterilizer just try to serialize an object and just fail? isn't it what it does right-now when something is marked, it tries and fails. wouldn't it be better if you had to mark things as unserializable rather than serializable? that way you wouldn't have the problem of libraries not marking things as serializable?

  • JavaScript/jQuery: Follow path over page

    I need to make an animated gif 'fly over a page and follow a path. I'm thinking of using jQuery but would I be right in thinking the only way to do it is manually calculating the percentage of width/height where the shape layer should be placed, then using absolute positioning is the only way to do this? I know there are some amazing jQuery plugins available for this type of thing.
