  • Add SQL Azure database to Azure Web Role and persist data with entity framework code first.

    - by MagnusKarlsson
In my last post I went for a warts n all approach to set up a web role on Azure. In this post I’ll describe how to add an SQL Azure database to the project. This will be described with an as minimal as possible amount of code and screen dumps. All questions are welcome in the comments area. Please don’t email since questions answered in the comments field is made available to other visitors. As an example we will add a comments section to the site we used in the previous post (Länk här). Steps: 1. Create a Comments entity and then use Scaffolding to set up controller and view, and add ConnectionString to web.config. 2. Create SQL Azure database in Management Portal and link the new database 3. Test it online!   1. Right click Models folder, choose add, choose “class…” . Name the Class Comment. 1.1 Replace the Code in the class with the following: using System.Data.Entity; namespace MvcWebRole1.Models { public class Comment {    public int CommentId { get; set; }    public string Name { get; set; }      public string Content { get; set; } } public class CommentsDb : DbContext { public DbSet<Comment> CommentEntries { get; set; } } } Now Entity Framework can create a database and a table named Comment. Build your project to assert there are no build errors.   1.2 Right click Controllers folder, choose add, choose “class…” . Name the Class CommentController and fill out the values as in the example below.     1.3 Click Add. Visual Studio now creates default View for CRUD operations and a Controller adhering to these and opens them. 1.3 Open Web.config and add the following connectionstring in <connectionStrings> node. <add name="CommentsDb” connectionString="data source=(LocalDB)\v11.0;Integrated Security=SSPI;AttachDbFileName=|DataDirectory|\CommentsDb.mdf;Initial Catalog=CommentsDb;MultipleActiveResultSets=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />   1.4 Save All and press F5 to start the application. 1.5 Go to http://127.0.0.1:81/Comments which will redirect you through CommentsController to the Index View which looks like this:     Click Create new. In the Create-view, add name and content and press Create.   1: // 2: // POST: /Comments/Create 3:  4: [HttpPost] 5: public ActionResult Create(Comment comment) 6: { 7: if (ModelState.IsValid) 8: { 9: db.CommentEntries.Add(comment); 10: db.SaveChanges(); 11: return RedirectToAction("Index"); 12: } 13:  14: return View(comment); 15: } 16:    The default View() is Index so that is the View you will come to. Looking like this: 1: // 2: // GET: /Comments/ 3: 4: public ActionResult Index() 5: { 6: return View(db.CommentEntries.ToList()); 7: } Resulting in the following screen dump(success!):   2. Now, go to the Management portal and Create a new db.   2.1 With the new database created. Click the DB icon in the left most menu. Then click the newly created database. Click DASHBOARD in the top menu. Finally click Connections strings in the right menu to get the connection string we need to add in our web.debug.config file.   2.2 Now, take a copy of the connection String earlier added to the web.config and paste in web.debug.conifg in the connectionstrings node. Replace everything within “ “ in the copied connectionstring with that you got from SQL Azure. You will have something like this:   2.3 Rebuild the application, right click the cloud project and choose “Package…” (if you haven’t set up publishing profile which we will do in our next blog post). Remember to choose the right config file, use debug for staging and release for production so your databases won’t collide. You should see something like this:   2.4 Go to Management Portal and click the Web Services menu, choose your service and click update in the bottom menu.   2.5 Link the newly created database to your application. Click the LINKED RESOURCES in the top menu and then click “Link” in the bottom menu. You should get something like this. 3. Alright then. Under the Dashboard you can find the link to your application. Click it to open it in a browser and then go to ~/Comments to try it out just the way we did locally. Success and end of this story!

  • Windows 7 UAC manifest file for some VB6 application

    - by Daniel
Hi, all, I have an old VB6 application which should run on Windows 7 (with UAV set to the default level, 3 of 4 IMHO). It has the functionality to update itself, and Windows 7 is now complaining that it would modify the computer (At least windows 7 is right here). I was able to run it in Vista with some kind of manifest file, but this does not seem to work anymore (which is the intended behaviour if I think of it). The manifest file is this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?> <assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0"> <assemblyIdentity version="1.1.0.24" processorArchitecture="X86" name="IKOfficeAppStarter" type="win32"/> <description>IKOffice Starter</description> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls" version="6.0.0.0" processorArchitecture="X86" publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df" language="*"/> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> <trustInfo xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2"> <security> <requestedPrivileges> <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="true"/> </requestedPrivileges> </security> </trustInfo> </assembly> The manifest can be found near the exe "IKOffice Starter.exe" and is called "IKOffice Starter.exe.manifest", which should be okey. Currently the Shield Icon has gone from my .exe, but when try to start the software, i get the message "Der angeforderte Vorgang erfordert höhere Rechte", or translated to english "the requested operation requires elevation". What can I do to stop windows to bug me anymore, so I can install this application on our clients computers. Hey, I already told Windows to run it as Invoker, so why is it still complaining?

Var asi_ : Asi.MCCI_AR000001TR_PortType; asi_Istek : Asi.QUQI_IN000001TR01; asi_Cevap : Asi.QUQI_IN000002TR01; Begin // bla.. blaa. setting wsse header etc. giving httprio parameters .. // bla... blaa.. some code here , creating the asi_Istek, setting the values etc. Try asi_Cevap := asi_.MCCI_AR000001TR_QUQI_IN000001TR(asi_Istek); // **error** Except On e: Exception Do Begin ShowMessage(e.Message); // External exception C000001E End; End; that is sample code, my code is something like that, and i've many other smilar functions of this webservice, which are working without error, but here is missing something but what ? what is the "External exception C000001E" has anyone idea ? thanks.

  • Path Not Found error when opening VB6 project from a shared folder on Virtual PC 2007 (XP sp3)

    - by law1185
I currently work on a small software team that primarily maintains legacy software. I am trying to set up a VirtualPC that we can use to do this maintenance. Specifically, I would like to be able to debug and run VB6 web apps from a folder on the host pc. My constraints are as follows: The VirtualPC will not be registered on the domain. The server that hosts our Subversion repository does not run the subversion service so the only way to interact with the repository is through "file:\\", which requires domain authentication. It is not possible to debug/run VB6 web apps that are located on mapped network drives, because IIS requires that the VirtualPC be on the same domain as the network drive I would like to avoid having to copy the folder from the host pc to the VirtualPC and then copying it back in order to have the latest revision from Subversion So, I am trying to use VirtualPC's shared folder feature to share the host machine's Subversion directory and open the project in VB6 on the VirtualPC. Problem is that Visual Basic throws the error: "Path not found: '\\C:\\Subversion\Path\Project.vbp'" when I try to open it. Folder C:\Subversion on the host machine is mapped to G: on the VirtualPC. If anyone can help me resolve this error or find some other way to accomplish this, I would be deeply grateful. Oh, both host and virtual OS is Windows XP sp3. Using VB 6.0, IIS v5.1. I can manipulate files in the shared directory freely from the VirtualPC ie. copy, paste, delete, etc. Edit: Link to screenshot: http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/5439/vpcscreen.png

  • How to change StartupUri of WPF Application?

    - by Akash Kava
I am trying to modify App.cs and load the WPF XAML files from code behind but its not working as it should. No matter whatever I try to set as StartupUri it doesnt start, the program quits after this. public partial class App : Application { protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { base.OnStartup(e); LoginDialog dlg = new LoginDialog(); if (dlg.ShowDialog() != true) return; switch (dlg.ChoiceApp) { case ChoiceApp.CustomerEntry: StartupUri = new Uri("/MyApp;component/Forms/CustomerEntry.xaml", UriKind.Relative); break; case ChoiceApp.VendorEntry: StartupUri = new Uri("/MyApp;component/Forms/VendorEntry.xaml", UriKind.Relative); break; } } } Now I even did trace and found out that LoginDialog is working correctly and is returning values correctly but setting "StartupUri" does not work. I checked in reverse assembly that DoStartup method of App gets called after OnStartup, so technically my StartupUri must load, but it doesnt, in App.xaml startup uri is not at all defined. Note: Bug Confirmed I noticed that ShowDialog sets Application.MainWindow and when dialog ends, it sets it back to null, and because of this setting StartupUri does not work after calling Modal Dialog in OnStartup or Startup event. There is no error or exception about invalid uri or anything like that. This method works without DialogBox being called in Startup event or OnStartup, i think calling showdialog on this method causes something like its mainwindow being set to expired window and it shuts down after this.

  • java.lang.IllegalAccessException during Ant jwsc webservice build

    - by KevB
Hi. I have a large application, part of which relies on a set of 3 webservices. I'm currently in the process of writing an Ant build script to build and package the application into an EAR file. When building the web sub-project for this application I use the <jwsc> task in Ant to compile the webservices. This causes an IllegalAccessException, as outlined in the stack trace below: [jwsc] warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds [jwsc] JWS: processing module weboutput [jwsc] Parsing source files [jwsc] Parsing source files [jwsc] 3 JWS files being processed for module weboutput [jwsc] JWS: C:\dev\ir\irWeb\src\webservices\DailyRun.java Validated. The application is written in Weblogic Workshop 10, runs on Weblogic Server 10.3, and uses Beehive / NetUI. Not sure if that would make a difference or not though. The build scripts were automatically generated by Weblogic Workshop, with some tweaks and fixes made to other aspects of the files by myself to fix other compatability issues. I am using Java 1.6.0_23 from Sun, and Ant 1.8.1 Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Rewind request body stream

    - by Despertar
    I am re-implementing a request logger as Owin Middleware which logs the request url and body of all incoming requests. I am able to read the body, but if I do the body parameter in my controller is null. I'm guessing it's null because the stream position is at the end so there is nothing left to read when it tries to deserialize the body. I had a similar issue in a previous version of Web API but was able to set the Stream position back to 0. This particular stream throws a This stream does not support seek operations exception. In the most recent version of Web API 2.0 I could call Request.HttpContent.ReadAsStringAsync()inside my request logger, and the body would still arrive to the controller in tact. How can I rewind the stream after reading it? or How can I read the request body without consuming it? public class RequestLoggerMiddleware : OwinMiddleware { public RequestLoggerMiddleware(OwinMiddleware next) : base(next) { } public override Task Invoke(IOwinContext context) { return Task.Run(() => { string body = new StreamReader(context.Request.Body).ReadToEnd(); // log body context.Request.Body.Position = 0; // cannot set stream position back to 0 Console.WriteLine(context.Request.Body.CanSeek); // prints false this.Next.Invoke(context); }); } } public class SampleController : ApiController { public void Post(ModelClass body) { // body is now null if the middleware reads it } }

  • Programmatically set the DPI from a .net 2.0 WinForms application

    - by Stef
I want to run my application on 96dpi, no matter what the dpi size from Windows is set to. It is possible ? ' Edit ' I found that using the Scale() method and resizing the font will almost do the trick. public class MyForm : Form { private static bool ScaleDetected = false; const float DPI = 80F; protected override void OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e) { base.OnPaint(e); if (!ScaleDetected) { Graphics g = e.Graphics; float factorX = DPI / g.DpiX; float factorY = DPI / g.DpiY; SizeF newSize = new SizeF(factorX, factorY); AutoScaleDimensions = newSize; AutoScaleMode = AutoScaleMode.Dpi; Scale(newSize); Font = new Font(Font.FontFamily, Font.Size * factorX); ScaleDetected = true; } } } However when using this 'trick' in a MDI application using Janus Controls, the main form is resized, but for some other forms, the scaling + changed font are not applied.

  • Web Service Exception Handling

    - by SchlaWiener
I have a Winforms app that consumes a C# Webservice. If the WebService throws an Exception my Client app always get's a SoapException instead of the "real" Exception. Here's a demo: [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [System.ComponentModel.ToolboxItem(false)] public class Service1 : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public string HelloWorld() { throw new IndexOutOfRangeException("just a demo exception"); } } Now, on the client side, I want to be able to handle different exceptions in a different way. try { ServiceReference1.Service1SoapClient client = new ServiceReference1.Service1SoapClient(); Button1.Text = client.HelloWorld(); } catch (IndexOutOfRangeException ex) { // I know how to handle IndexOutOfRangeException // but this block is never reached } catch (MyOwnException ex) { // I know how to handle MyOwnException // but this block is never reached } catch (System.ServiceModel.FaultException ex) { // I always end in this block } But that does not work because I always get a "System.ServiceModel.FaultException" and I can only figure out the "real" exception by parsing the Exception's message property: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable to process request. ---> System.IndexOutOfRangeException: just a demo\n at SoapExceptionTest.Service1.Service1.HelloWorld() in ... --- End of inner exception stack trace --- Is there a way to make this work somehow?

  • jQuery Ajax call - Set variable value on success.

    - by Nathan
Hey all, I have an application that I am writing that modifies data on a cached object in the server. The modifications are performed through an ajax call that basically updates properties of that object. When the user is done working, I have a basic 'Save Changes' button that allows them to Save the data and flush the cached object. In order to protect the user, I want to warn them if the try to navigate away from the page when modifications have been made to the server object if they have not saved. So, I created a web service method called IsInitialized that will return true or false based on whether or not changes have been saved. If they have not been saved, I want to prompt the user and give them a chance to cancel their navigation request. Here's my problem - although I have the calls working correctly, I can't seem to get the ajax success call to set the variable value on its callback function. Here's the code I have now. ////Catches the users to keep them from navigation off the page w/o saved changes... window.onbeforeunload = CheckSaveStatus; var IsInitialized; function CheckSaveStatus() { var temp = $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "URL.asmx/CheckIfInstanceIsInitilized", data: "{}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(result) { IsInitialized = result.d; }, error: function(xmlHttpRequest, status, err) { alert(xmlHttpRequest.statusText + " " + xmlHttpRequest.status + " : " + xmlHttpRequest.responseText); } }); if (IsInitialized) { return "You currently have unprocessed changes for this Simulation."; } } I feel that I might be trying to use the Success callback in an inappropriate manner. How do I set a javascript variable on the Success callback so that I can decide whether or not the user should be prompted w/ the unsaved changes message? As was just pointed out, I am making an asynchronous call, which means the rest of the code gets called before my method returns. Is there a way to use that ajax call, but still catch the window.onunload event? (without making synchronos ajax)

  • Handling async ASMX web service exceptions

    - by Andy
Hi, I've developed silverlight client with makes async web services calls to a asmx web service. The problem is, I want to handle exceptions, so far as to be able to tell in the client application whether there was an exception in the webservice (and therefore will be logged local to the webservice) or whether there was a communication problem (i.e. the endpoint for the webservice was wrong). In testing both types of exceptions in my project I get the same generic exception: System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The remote server returned an error: NotFound. This exception is amazingly useless when an exception occured in the webservice as it clearly has been found. Is the presence of this generic error to do with security (not being allowed to see true errors)? It can't be the fact that I don't have debug strings as I'm running on a dev PC. Either way, my question is, what's the best way to handle async errors in a commercial silverlight application? Any links or ideas are most welcome! :) Thanks a lot! Andy.

  • Display Simple Web Page In My Application Using Blackberry BrowserField

    - by ankit
Hello All, What I am trying to do is display a simple web page in my application (no javascript, cookies or any scripting and not trying to detect any events such as mouse click etc.). I am using the code below and right now all I get is empty screen .. I know that the application is accessing the internet (the data transfer arrow flashes in the top right corner) but not sure why its not rendering. The code I am using is : HttpConnectionFactory factory = new HttpConnectionFactory("www.google.ca",HttpConnectionFactory.TRANSPORT_WIFI | HttpConnectionFactory.TRANSPORT_WAP2 | HttpConnectionFactory.TRANSPORT_DIRECT_TCP); while(true) { try { HttpConnection connection = factory.getNextConnection(); try { BrowserContent bc = RenderingSession.getNewInstance().getBrowserContent(connection,null,0); Field f = bc.getDisplayableContent(); add(f); } catch(RenderingException e) { //Log the error or store it for displaying to //the end user if no transports succeed System.out.println("error with rendering page"); } } catch(NoMoreTransportsException e) { //There are no more transports to attempt //Dialog.alert( "Unable to perform request" ); //Note you should never //attempt network activity on the event thread System.out.println("no more transport"); break; } } Some points to note: Im using the http-connection-factory class from www.versatilemonkey.com only becuase they have impelemented the abstract httpConnection class. If someone can also point me on how to implement my own that would be great. I am using '0' for the flags for getBrowserContent function. I looked through the rimn documentation and could not find an explanation for them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ankit

  • Castle Windsor and its own configuration file

  • How do I fix: InvalidOperationException upon Session timeout in Ajax WebService call

    - by Ngm
Hi All, We are invoking Asp.Net ajax web service from the client side. So the JavaScript functions have calls like: // The function to alter the server side state object and set the selected node for the case tree. function JSMethod(caseId, url) { Sample.XYZ.Method(param1, param2, OnMethodReturn); } function OnMethodReturn(result) { var sessionExpiry = CheckForSessionExpiry(result); var error = CheckForErrors(result); ... process result } And on the server side in the ".asmx.cs" file: namespace Sample [ScriptService] class XYZ : WebService { [WebMethod(EnableSession = true)] public string Method(string param1, string param2) { if (SessionExpired()) { return sessionExpiredMessage; } . . . } } The website is setup to use form based authentication. Now if the session has expired and then the JavaScript function "JSMethod" is invoked, then the following error is obtained: Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.Net.WebServiceFailedException: The server method 'Method' failed with the following error: System.InvalidOperationException-- Authentication failed. This exception is raised by method "function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke" in file "ScriptResource.axd": function Sys$Net$WebServiceProxy$invoke { . . . { // In debug mode, if no error was registered, display some trace information var error; if (result && errorObj) { // If we got a result, we're likely dealing with an error in the method itself error = result.get_exceptionType() + "-- " + result.get_message(); } else { // Otherwise, it's probably a 'top-level' error, in which case we dump the // whole response in the trace error = response.get_responseData(); } // DevDiv 89485: throw, not alert() throw Sys.Net.WebServiceProxy._createFailedError(methodName, String.format(Sys.Res.webServiceFailed, methodName, error)); } So the problem is that the exception is raised even before "Method" is invoked, the exception occurs during the creation of the Web Proxy. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem

  • MySQL Connection Timeout Issue - Grails Application on Tomcat using Hibernate and ORM

    - by gav
Hi Guys I have a small grails application running on Tomcat in Ubuntu on a VPS. I use MySql as my datastore and everything works fine unless I leave the application for more than half a day (8 hours?). I did some searching and apparently this is the default wait_timeout in mysql.cnf so after 8 hours the connection will die but Tomcat won't know so when the next user tries to view the site they will see the connection failure error. Refreshing the page will fix this but I want to get rid of the error altogether. For my version of MySql (5.0.75) I have only my.cnf and it doesn't contain such a parameter, In any case changing this parameter doesn't solve the problem. This Blog Post seems to be reporting a similar error but I still don't fully understand what I need to configure to get this fixed and also I am hoping that there is a simpler solution than another third party library. The machine I'm running on has 256MB ram and I'm trying to keep the number of programs/services running to a minimum. Is there something I can configure in Grails / Tomcat / MySql to get this to go away? • Session State with MVP and Application Controller patterns

    - by Graham Bunce
Hi, I've created an MVP (passive view) framework for development and decided to go for an Application Controller pattern to manage the navigation between views. This is targeted at WinForms, ASP.NET and WPF interfaces. Although I'm not 100% convinced that these view technologies really swappable, that's my aim at the moment so my MVP framework is quite lightweight. What I'm struggling to fit in is the concept of a "Business Conversation" that needs state information to be either (a) maintained for the lifetime of the View or, more likely, (b) maintained across several views for the lifetime of a use case (business conversation). I want state management to be part of the framework as I don't want developers to worry about it. All they need to do is to "start" a conversation, "Register" objects and the framework does the rest until the "end" a conversation. Has anybody got any thoughts (patterns) to how to fit this into MVP? I was thinking it may be part of the Application Controller responsibility (delegating to a Conversation Manager object) as it knows about current state in order to send the user to the next view.... but then I thought it may be up to the Presenter to start and end the conversation so then it comes down the presenters to manage conversations and the objects registered for the that conversation. Unfortunately that means presenters can't be used in different conversations... so that idea doesn't seem right. As you can see, I don't think there is an easy answer (and I've looked for a while). So anybody else got any thoughts?

  • Visual Studio 2008 Web Project error: Unable to start program http://localhost:port

    - by JookyDFW
I am re-hashing this question because I have looked at over 50 threads in different forums and have not been able to get a resolution to my problem. Here are the specs: Windows XP SP3, Visual Studio 2008 SP1, .NET 3.5, ASP. NET MVC 2 project, IE 7 (was IE 8) Up until a few days ago I was not having any issues. It is now happening on any solution that I try to debug. I start a debug session (F5), the solution rebuilds, a VS development web server starts and then I get this error: Unable to start program http://localhost:2012/ If I open a web browser and enter the URL the application loads up. I had upgraded to IE 8 a few weeks ago and read there may be some issues so it has been uninstalled and I am currently on IE 7. Also, while IE 8 was installed I had switched my default browser to Firefox but my current default broweser is now IE7. I have reveiewed the threads on this site and others and have not been able to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Unresolved Host Exception Android

    - by Rob Stevenson-Leggett
I'm trying to call a RESTful web service from an Android application using the following method: HttpHost target = new HttpHost("http://" + ServiceWrapper.SERVER_HOST,ServiceWrapper.SERVER_PORT); HttpGet get = new HttpGet("/list"); String result=null; HttpEntity entity = null; HttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient(); try { HttpResponse response=client.execute(target, get); entity = response.getEntity(); result = EntityUtils.toString(entity); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (entity!=null) try { entity.consumeContent(); } catch (IOException e) {} } return result; I can browse to address and see the xml results using the Android Emulator browser and from my machine. I have given my app the INTERNET permission. I'm developing with eclipse. I've seen it mentioned that I might need to configure a proxy but since the web service i'm calling is on port 80 this shouldn't matter should it? I can call the method with the browser. Any ideas?

  • JAX-WS client with Axis service

    - by Jon
I'm relatively new to web services, but I need to integrate a call to an existing service in my application. Ideally, I'd like to use JAX-WS because I'm looking for the simplest, quickest-to-develop solution on my end, and MyEclipse is able to generate a JAX-WS client from a WSDL. Unfortunately, the WSDL I've inherited was built from what appears to be Axis using RPC. Will this still work? When trying to generate the code, I get these errors, and the web searches I've found seem to say that it's the service end that needs to upgrade: <restriction base="soapenc:Array"> <attribute ref="soapenc:arrayType" wsdl:arrayType="impl:MyTypeList[]" /> </restriction> WS-I: (BP2108) An Array declaration uses - restricts or extends - the soapEnc:Array type, or the wsdl:arrayType attribute is used in the type declaration WS-I: (BP2122) A wsdl:types element contained a data type definition that is not an XML schema definition <wsdlsoap:body encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" namespace="http://ws.host.com" use="encoded" / WS-I: (BP2406) The use attribute of a soapbind:body, soapbind:fault, soapbind:header and soapbind:headerfault does not have value of "literal".

  • C# Process Exited event not firing from within webservice

    - by davidpizon
I am attempting to wrap a 3rd party command line application within a web service. If I run the following code from within a console application: Process process= new System.Diagnostics.Process(); process.StartInfo.FileName = "some_executable.exe"; // Do not spawn a window for this process process.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true; process.StartInfo.ErrorDialog = false; // Redirect input, output, and error streams process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = true; process.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true; process.EnableRaisingEvents = true; process.ErrorDataReceived += (sendingProcess, eventArgs) => { // Make note of the error message if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(eventArgs.Data)) if (this.WarningMessageEvent != null) this.WarningMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs(eventArgs.Data)); }; process.OutputDataReceived += (sendingProcess, eventArgs) => { // Make note of the message if (!String.IsNullOrEmpty(eventArgs.Data)) if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs(eventArgs.Data)); }; process.Exited += (object sender, EventArgs e) => { // Make note of the exit event if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs("The command exited")); }; process.Start(); process.StandardInput.Close(); process.BeginOutputReadLine(); process.BeginErrorReadLine(); process.WaitForExit(); int exitCode = process.ExitCode; process.Close(); process.Dispose(); if (this.DebugMessageEvent != null) this.DebugMessageEvent(this, new MessageEventArgs("The command exited with code: " + exitCode)); All events, including the "process.Exited" event fires as expected. However, when this code is invoked from within a web service method, all events EXCEPT the "process.Exited" event fire. The execution appears to hang at the line: process.WaitForExit(); Would anyone be able to shed some light as to what I might be missing?

  • PDFObject load event

    - by Priyank
Hi. We are trying to load a pdf file in web browser using pdfobject javascript api. Currently the size of the pdf's that we are trying to display is close to 10MBs. This creates a long delay in displaying a PDF on web page; while the complete PDF gets downloaded. We need to remove this lag by achieving either of the alternatives: Show a progress bar until the PDF is actually displayed. We couldn't find an event which is triggered and can be used to find out if pdf is visible now. This lacking doesn't let us decide when to stop showing progress bar/spinner OR lazy load the PDF such that it gets displayed as soon as first page gets loaded. With that ateast user will have a visual indication as to something is happening. We couldn'find anything in pdf object that lets us do a lazy load. User alternative pdf rendering api; this is a low priority as we already have complete code in place; but in an event of first 2 alternatives not being met; we'd have to consider this option. So please feel free to suggest. Any other ideas as to how user interaction can be made more intuitive or pleasant; would be welcome. Cheers
