• Java library for HTML analysis

  Hi, (I've seen similar questions, but I think none of them cater to my specific needs, hence...) I would like to know if there is a Java library for analysis of real-world (read: incomplete, ill-formed) HTML. By analysis, I mean things like: figuring out the most prominent color in an HTML chunk changing that color to some other color (hence, has to support modification of the HTML as well) pruning out unwanted tags fixing up the HTML to result in a well formed HTML snippet Parts of the last two are done by libraries such as Jericho, and jTidy. 'Plugins' on top of these would be great. Thanks in advance!

• Text editor with spell checker that ignores (X)HTML/CSS/javascript tags?

  Do you know of any text editor that can be used with a spell checker which is smart enough to ignore XHML/CSS and javascript tags? The requirements would be: It must run in Linux; It must be free and open source; It doesn't need to have WYSIWYG capabilities, but they would be welcome. It must have built in "tag skipping" capabilities or be configurable to skip (X)HTML tags, CSS and embedded Javascript; It doesn't need to have a HTML validator, but if it does it will be a plus; I've tried to use spell checker plugins for Kate, HTML validators for Firefox, Eclipse's HTML editor, but I couldn't find a solution that have a speel checker that ignores hml tags. • rvmsudo foreman export upstart without asking for password

  My capistrano deploy.rb has a foreman export command for a rails app on Ubuntu 10.04 So, while deploying, I want to export the foreman to upstart script. But doing that, the command rvmsudo foreman export ... asks for root password and I cannot do anything. • Make Custom Project template in Eclipse IDE

  I have been using Eclipse IDE for a long time. Its a really great IDE for Java/C/C++ (and other languages with its THOUSANDS of plugins). Every once in a while, I get the need for creating a Javax interface. To do this normally, I would setup the new java project then add what I need. But, wouldn't it be nice if I could just make a template project to automatically include the code for the files. How would I go about doing this? It it even possible? The Eclipse CDT can make a new project type. So can the Google ADT and Google App engine. So I would imagine it is possible. But how?

• Low-cost, Flexible Log Aggregation [closed]

  I'm starting to have quite the collection of Ubuntu VMs that I must manage. I'm starting to investigate Puppet for managing the configuration of all of them, and apticron to let me know what's out of date. But the issue I feel I should deal with sooner than later is log aggregation. I'd like to stay in the free/open source realm for now, seeing that we don't have much budget for something like splunk yet. In addition to syslog, I would like to collect application specific logs (We are running different apps on different machines, from nginx+passenger for rails, to Apache+Tomcat for java, to PHP for expression engine, and mysql/postgresql database server), so that we can analyze the relavent data. For now, I'm just looking to get all the logs one place.

  I'm using JasperGrails plugins (http://www.grails.org/Jasper+Plugin) to generate reports. When I configure iReports dataSource with Database JDBC connection everything works well. But how to configure iReports with grails and Jasper plugin ? I try to configure my dataSource by selecting "JavaBeans set data source", but I have this error message : ClassNotFoundError ! (I try to add my domain in classpath by pointing to my IDEA project folder, but I have always same message). What is the best way to configure iReports with grails/groovy ?

• Puppetmaster don't notice changes to site.pp

  I've just setup a new production environment with puppet. Using 0.25.4 in client/server. Ruby is at 1.8.5, CentOS 5.4. I've made a simple manifest for configuring yum-updatesd, but the puppetmaster doesn't seem to notice changes done to site.pp: err: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 err: Could not retrieve catalog from remote server: Error 400 on SERVER: Could not parse for environment production: Could not match 'node' at /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp:1 Notice, it says line 1. But line 1 contains an import statement: # cat -n /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp 1 import "update-notification" 2 3 node default { 4 include update-notification 5 update-notification::configure() 6 } I've tried to reboot the server, delete and recreate site.pp, start and stop puppetmaster and puppet, with no luck.   How to streamline/automate the configuration of Eclipse? Given N developers running a mixture of Ubuntu and Mac OS X, all with the same version of Eclipse, how to make sure that: Each developer, on top of his favourite "Available Software Sites" selection, has a common set of installation sources? Each developer has an easy (automated?) way of installing a base set of plug-ins? Each developer can just as easily install a custom plugin developed in-house and distributed over the local network? No automatically deployed plugins conflict with any others a developer might already be using? I would post this to serverfault.com if it wasn't that I am more interested in a "scripting" answer than a traditional "system management" solution... ;-)

  I am trying to package a simple maven java project (uses javax.persistence api) into a single jar using the onejar-maven-plugin. • Wordpress form handling

  I need to add a basic form page in the website, that runs on WordPress framework. I have the following raw materials ready: Client side: html form layout,css and jquery validation code. Server side: form handler php function that processes the $_POST[] data. My problem is to integrate this code in the Wordpress framework. I have looked at some plugins but they are doing much more than I would like and also they have their own validation which is cumbersome to change. Could anyone suggest a good form plugin that allows just the framework hooks ? Or is it worthwhile that I should write the plugin myself. Thanks.

• using WP_Query with custom SQL in wordpress

  Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

• how to precompile sass with gruntjs?

  There seem to be a few plugins...and I'm using webstorm file watcher which also precompiles individual files. I think this may not be the best way to setup a watcher. I'm running this command now: sass --no-cache --update --stop-on-error --trace ./app/sass:./app/css It seems to conflict with the webstorm file watch, which appears to be appending everything to base.css. Can someone tell me what exactly this command is doing vs. a sass filewatcher in webstorm? What's the best way to work with sass: precompile my sass to css using a grunt build task and have file watchers while developing? • How to get top command output to show rake arguments?

  In the past, all of our servers have automatically shown command arguments passed to rake when we view them in top. For example: But on this particular server, we get this instead (picture is top running, showing the rake command, but not showing any of the arguments that had been passed to rake): Both servers are running Ubuntu (though the server without rake commands is a newer flavor of ubuntu). Both run rake through ruby enterprise edition (as powered by rvm). Can't seem to find any documentation on how top chooses what to show in the "command" column, other than the obvious "more data/less data" toggle (all screenshots are shown with the extra data enabled. Anyone encountered anything similar to this?

• Can someone recommend a bells and whistles CSS framework?

  I am looking for a bells and whistles CSS framework. I have found a number online that deal with "grids", and some that deal with "typography" and others that deal with "resetting". What I have not found is something that will give my web applications a consistent reusable style or theme. I guess it would have to have a number of predefined elements that do things, for example: div.boxed {...} And then a number of themes or plugins that provide these in a consistent way. Javascript toolkits like ExtJS, YUI, and also GWT have their own skinability, and I guess this is the featureset that I want, but independent of any Javascript library. (Open source would be best, but we don't mind paying) Edit: 5 good answers, but I have seen all those frameworks, and they are not enough of what I am looking for. Perhaps what I am looking for doesn't exist. Or I haven't explained properly. I will give them a good going over and see.

Is this something malicious and if so what should I do about it?

• Debugging asp.net with firefox and visual studio.net - very slow compared to IE

  Debugging asp.net websites/web projects in visual studio.net 2005 with Firefox is loads slower than using IE. I've read something somewhere that there is a way of fixing this but i can't for the life of me find it again. Does anyone know what i'm on about and can point me in the right direction please? I prefer Firefox for debugging (firebug etc) hitting F5 when debugging with IE the browser launches really quickly and clicking around my web application is almost instant and when a breakpont is hit i get to my code straight away with no delays. hitting F5 when debugging with FireFox the browser launches really slowly (ok i have plugins that slow FF loading) but clicking around my web application is really really slow and when a breakpoint is hit it takes ages to break into code. i swear i've read something somewhere that there is a setting in Firefox (about:config maybe?) that when changed to some magic setting sorts all this out.

• Can't get Logback Eclipse plugin to display output

  I followed these instructions here: http://logback.qos.ch/consolePlugin.html I have the correct and found logback.xml, it is set up correctly, and the port is listening. Nothing shows up with logger.error("Test"); It logs to sysout fine when I remove logback.xml, which shows to me that the logback is working fine. I installed the plugin on linux by moving it to /usr/lib/eclipse/plugins ...The window shows up, but no logging events are showing up. I also added a catch all ACCEPT filter like on that link. Perhaps this is a linux permission issue?

• I think I have multiple postgresql servers installed, how do I identify and delete the 'extra' ones?

  I seem to have a few installations of postgresql on my machine somehow. I'm not sure if this is a mistake or, if Ubuntu for some odd reason duplicates direcotories and keeps them elsewhere. I have a postgresql directory in /etc one in /usr/lib and one in /opt I'm properly confused at this point. How do I go about deleting the extra ones.which ones are he extra one? I also need to make sure that my 'pg' gem in my rails env is pointing towards the correct posgresql db server. Any thoughts on my issue would be huge.

• eclipse plugin not loading dll due to long path

  I am building an eclipse plugin (a notes plugin, but its a eclipse plugin in the end). One of the plugins my plugin depends on needs to load a native dll. The problem is, that fails depending on where in the disk such dll is. Is there a way to have said behavior, to launch zsh with a command and return to a zsh prompt when the command fails ? Cheers

• Static error page served by nginx when my application is down

  If my (Rails) application is down or undergoing database maintenance or whatever, I'd like to specify at the nginx level to server a static page. So every URL like http://example.com/* should server a static html file, like /var/www/example/foo.html. Trying to specify that in my nginx config is giving me fits and infinite loops and whatnot. I'm trying things like location / { root /var/www/example; index foo.html; rewrite ^/.+$ foo.html; } How would you get every URL on your domain to serve a single static file?

• Getting started developing JSDT/wst.jsdt?

  In my other question I spotted a bug in the Eclipse wst.jsdt. If I want to fix this myself, what are the knowledge dependencies for doing so? My guess would be: Know how to use CVS Know how to use Bugzilla Know how to develop core libraries in Eclipse Know how to develop plugins in Eclipse Know how to develop for the wst.jsdt project I've never done the latter three, so I was just wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. I already looked at a document for developing in JSDT, but I'm still a little uncertain about what I need to look for to develop for Eclipse, since it comes in various flavors/distros (i.e. WDT)

• AppleScript to open URL in Safari crashes for Flash-based websites

  I'm trying to open a URL in Safari. It works fine for websites without Flash embedded, but crashes Safari for Flash sites. Example (this WORKS): tell application "Safari" to open location "http://google.com" This CRASHES when Safari is not already running: tell application "Safari" to open location "http://grooveshark.com" Two things I noticed: Safari only crashes for websites with embedded Flash The script above only crashes if a new instance of Safari is created (i.e. Safari was not running before) From the second observation I assume that it could be a permission issue of some sort. Maybe the Safari instance launched from the AppleScript has a problem loading plugins?
