wxPython TreeCtrl without showing root while still showing arrows

I am making a python tree visualizer using wxPython. It would be used like so: show_tree([ 'A node with no children', ('A node with children', 'A child node', ('A child node with children', 'Another child')) ]) It worked fine but it shows a root with a value of "Tree". I made it so that it would create multiple roots but then learned that I wasn't allowed to do that. I reverted to the original code but used changed it from this: self.tree = wx.TreeCtrl(self) to this: self.tree = wx.TreeCtrl(self, style=wx.TR_HIDE_ROOT). It worked but it didn't show the little arrows on the side so you wouldn't know which nodes had children. Is there any way to hide the root node but keep the arrows. Note: I am on a Mac using Python version 2.5 and wxPython version 2.8.4.0.

What is branched in a repository?

Ok I hope that this will end up sounding like a reasonable question. From what I understand of subversion if you have a repo that contains multiple projects, then you can branch individual projects within that repo (see SVN Red book - Using Branches) However what I don't quite follow is what happens when you create a branch in one of the distributed systems (Git, Hg, Bazaar - I don't think it matters which one). Can you branch just a sub-directory of the repo, or when you create the branch are you branching the entire repo? This question is part of a larger one that I posted on superuser (choice and setup of version control) and has come about as I am trying to figure out how to best version control a large hierarchal layout of independent projects. It may be that for distributed systems that what I would like to do is best handled by a sub-project mechanism of some sort - but again that is something I am not clear on although I have heard the term mentioned in regards to git.

How to install older Android SDK in Eclipse

I'm working at the moment at a simple app in eclipse for android. Just receiving and sending data, and using the camera API. I've set the minSDKversion to 8, because I think that has the widest user base. But at the beginning of the project eclipse was asking me which target SDK version I would use, and because I had just one installed (the latest 4.0.3) I've took this. Now I'm asking me if it wouldn't be wiser to install a lower SDK, like Android 2.2, because it would be not that big (compared to the 4.0.3) and my app would not have included all the fancy new features, which are not used in any way?! Or is this complete nonsense I'm talking here, and just should take my 4.0.3 SDK? When not, how can I install a lower version? Help -> SDK Manager is not showing old SDKs...

RMO on Windows 7 - The Specified module could not be found

My machine: Windows XP (x86), VS2008, .net 3.5, sql server 2005, WinForms - App works fine. Production Machines: Windows 7 (x64), SQl Server 2005 Express - App Starts but throws exception Visual Studio Targeting x86 on setup project and RMO project. Visual Studio gives me a a couple warnings but I can still build: Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll' Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SmoMetadataProvider.dll' This is a simple RMO (Replication Management Objects) app that initiates a pull subscription in SQL Server 2005 and displays status. Works fine on my machine, but fails on the production machine. I'm using a setup project to install the app on the production machine, but I think I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the production machine the app starts fine, but when I try to synch the subscription i get: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Specified module could not be found. (Exception from HResult: 0x8007007E)

Here i have a column chart of binomial distribution, showing how many times you can expect to roll a six in 235 dice rolls: Note: You could also call it a binomial mass distribution for p=1/6, n=235 Now that graph is kinda squooshed. i'd like to change the Minimum and Maximum on the horizontal axis. i'd like to change them to: Minimum: 22 Maximum: 57 Meaning i want to zoom in on this section of the graph: Bonus points to the reader who can say how the numbers 22 and 57 were arrived at If this were a Scatter graph in Excel, i could adjust the horizintal axis minimum and maximum as i desired: Unfortunately, this is a Column chart, where there are no options to adjust the minimum and maximum limits of the ordinate axis: i can do a pretty horrible thing to the graph in Photoshop, but it's not very useful afterwards: Question: how to a change the x-axis minimum and maximum of a Column chart in Excel (2007)?

ASP.Net MVC Web App not running

Hi, I developed an ASP.Net MVC v1 web application and it ran fine on our server. The client wanted to move to another server, and the site does not run on the new host's server. The new server specs: Windows 2008 ASP.Net Framework v4 ASP.Net MVC 2 (afaik its included with .Net v4) IIS 7.5 (afaik) Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Mvc, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. My understanding is that it should be backwards compatible. Is the app really trying to run in ASP.Net MVC v1 when v2 is available? I have already tried deploying the MVC .dlls to the Bin folder, but it did not work. I also tried changing all the system.Web.Mvc Version values (in the web.config for the web app) from 1.0.0.0 to 2.0.0.0, which also did not work. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Rolling back or re-creating the master branch in git?

I have a git repo which has a few branches - there's the master branch, which is our stable working version, and then there is a development/staging branch which we're doing new work in. Unfortunately it would appear that without thinking I was a bit overzealous with rebasing and have pulled all of the staging code into Master over a period of time (about 80 commits... yes, I know, stupid, clumsy, poor code-man-ship etc....). Due to this it makes it very hard for me to do minor fixes on the current version of our app (a rails application) and push out the changes without also pushing out the 'staged' new features which we don't yet want to release. I am wondering if it is possible to do the following: Determine the last 'trunk' commit Take all commits from that point onward and move them into a separate branch, more or less rolling back the changes Start using the branches like they were made for. Unfortunately, though, I'm still continually learning about git, so I'm a bit confused about what to really do here. Thanks!

How do you manage your sqlserver database projects for new builds and migrations?

How do you manage your sql server database build/deploy/migrate for visual studio projects? We have a product that includes a reasonable database part (~100 tables, ~500 procs/functions/views), so we need to be able to deploy new databases of the current version as well as upgrade older databases up to the current version. Currently we maintain separate scripts for creation of new databases and migration between versions. Clearly not ideal, but how is anyone else dealing with this? This is complicated for us by having many customers who each have their own db instance, rather than say just having dev/test/live instances on our own web servers, but the processes around managing dev/test/live for others must be similar.

audio error in vmware running mac os x

simple synchronous loading of an audio file (.mp3) in a cocos2d app makes my vmware disconnect the sound. the error is display bottom right, saying 'error in creating sound stream; sound is disconnected' i read that it might be cause of my vmware's version (mine is 8) but I'm looking for a fix, not to downgrade to another version. before i get that error, the sound on the system works just fine (youtube, etc) the exact code im calling is.. Urls parameters doesn't encoding correctly!

I'am using asp.net mvc version 1.0 and I've a problem with some parameter in a url! My url is look like so(http://localhost:2282/Tags/PostList/c#) routes.MapRoute( "TagsRoute", "Tags/PostList/{tag}", new { controller="Tags",Action="PostList",tag = "" } ); In effect the problem is that tag paramter isn't encoding and so simbol # is ignored! I am using an actionlink but maybe with version 1.0 isn't encoding parameter directly! <%=Html.ActionLink(itemtags.Tags.TagName, "PostList","Tags", new { tag = itemtags.Tags.TagName }, new { style = "color:red;" })%> With this actionlink only whitespace are encoding correctly, infact asp.net mvc become asp.net%20mvc and it work fine! But c# isn't encoding :( So I try to use Server.UrlEncode, and in effect it happen some stuff!!! Infact c# became c%2523 but it isn't correct again because hexadecimal of # is %23! alter mysqldump file before import

Hi-- I have a mysqldump file created from an earlier version of a product that can't be imported into a new version of the product, since the db structure has changed slightly (mainly altering a column that was NOT NULL DEFAULT 0 to UNIQUE KEY DEFAULT NULL). If I just import the old dump file, it will error out since the column that has default values of 0 now breaks the UNIQUE constraint. It would be easy enough to either manually alter the mysqldump file, or import into a temp table and change it, then copy to the new table. However, is there a way to do this programatically, so it will be repeatable and not manual? (this will need to happen for many instances of this product). I'm thinking something like disabling key constraints for the import, then setting all values that = 0 to NULL, then re-enabling the key constraints? Is this possible? Any help appreciated.

How can I enforce Eclipse to use Sun Java?

Hi Before installing Eclipse I had Open JDK on default. Now I changed it to Sun Java. I did as Eclipse Helios was running really slow, unfortunately it is still... Do you have any ideas how to enforce it to use Java Sun? I could reinstal it however I have already Android SDK installed so I would have to do all the process again, after all thats not the correct way of solving problem I think. Zend Framework Relations vs. Table Select

Hey! I just want to know your guys opinion on using join tables within the zend framework. Of course you can use relations by defining a referenceMap and dependentTables and stuff, or using setIntegrityCheck(false) within a db select(). The setIntegrityCheck version seems a little bit dirty to me, but the other version is not very suitable for big querys and joining many tables... When I asked this question using games as the example (hoping it would be more likely to have been done), it was closed as being off topic so let me ask it this way... Has anyone used a spreadsheet to model a complex, changeable system (something like crowd behaviour, weather systems, a closed ecology, evolution or whatever) and if so, can you point me at it? I'm hoping for a normal (albeit complex) spreadsheet using the spready's inbuilt formulae and functions rather than something specially coded. I'm also after something where it's possible to change the variables and see the changed outcome - perhaps the variables change using random numbers or the like.

FastCGI C++ program and missing SCRIPT_NAME

Hi guys, i'm studying the fastcgi developement kit because i'm writing a new scripting language and i'd like to write a fastcgi version of the interpreter to run scripts as webpages. I'm using this example from the sdk, located at /srv/http/bin/echocpp So, in my httpd.conf file, i have the following lines : FastCgiServer /srv/http/bin/echocpp -idle-timeout 120 -processes 4 ScriptAlias / /srv/http/bin/echocpp/ ... ... AddHandler fastcgi-script hy Where 'hy' is the extensions of my scripts. Then, when i try browse, for instance http://localhost/~evilsocket/prime.hy I see all the environment variables as expected from the echo-cpp.cpp programm, except for the SCRIPT_NAME that is empty. Is there something i'm missing out of this? How am i supposed to obtain the full path of the script to run it inside my fastcgi version of the interpreter? Thanks

How can I get the fully qualified name of an assembly from it's basic name?

I'm currently writing a custom forms application that allows a user to design a data capture form. I store the field's ControlType and ControlAssembly in the database and then create them on the forms at runtime. For example: ControlType = `System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox`. ControlAssembly= `System.Web`. So I can therefor create a fully qualified name and create the control doing the following: string target = Assembly.CreateQualifiedName("System.Web", field.ControlType); Type type = Type.GetType(target); Control control = Activator.CreateInstance(type) as Control; But, this will cause an error as "System.Web" is not a valid assembly name. The assembly name itself has to be fully qualified, i.e. System.Web.Extensions would be: "System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" Is there any way I can get the fully qualified name of the assembly System.Web without having to store the entirity of the version, culture and PKT?

How do you use multiple versions of the same R package?

In order to be able to compare two versions of a package, I need to able to choose which version of the package that I load. R's package system is set to by default to overwrite existing packages, so that you always have the latest version. How do I override this behaviour? My thoughts so far are: I could get the package sources, edit the descriptions to give different names and build, in effect, two different packages. I'd rather be able to work directly with the binaries though, as it is much less hassle. I don't necessarily need to have both versions of the packages loaded at the same time (just installed somewhere at the same time). I could perhaps mess about with Sys.getenv('R_HOME') to change the place where R installs the packages, and then .libpaths() to change the place where R looks for them. This seems hacky though, so does anyone have any better ideas?

I read on the net this error could be caused by referencing multiple projects but I tried to move every package in a single project but the error is still there. I tried with multiple JDE version (currently 4.7) and the Java compiler is set to 1.6. Eclipse version is 3.4.1 as recommended by RIM's documentations. Does someone have some clue?

Why are my DNS Lookups so long (300+ms) when accessing my web site?

I'm running a Fedora 11 server with Apache 2. I'm trying to optimize so things are as fast as possible from the server side, and I'm noticing (via Firebug for Firefox) that upon loading the homepage of one of the sites on the web server that for every file it loads (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, GIF, PNG, JPG, etc.), it does a DNS lookup. All of the files it is looking up are local to the server, so I'm surprised to see it even do a DNS lookup. Also, each of these lookups is in the 150-450ms range, which is way too high for my liking. I've tried adjusting /etc/resolve.conf to use Google's Public DNS servers. I restarted the network service and tapped the page again, but the numbers didn't go down. I've reverted back to the default DNS servers since I didn't see any gain.
