  • .Net CMS with API to expose content

    I am looking for a .Net CMS that allows me to expose pages/articles that are created in the CMS to other applications without querying the CMS database. Preferably this would be done through an API and by exposing them through a custom secured webservice. I know Sitefinity can do this. Do you know if Umbraco DotNetNuke can do this? If yes, a link to some documentation of the API is appreciated!

If I develop that app using M Visual Studio and .NET 3.5 and I carefully neglect to use win32 specific API calls, should I expect that application to automatically work in my Unix box? Or should I just get MonoDevelop and go the Mono way?

Rather tahn using ASP.net i am receiving request by listening on a port.I want to store data for my session in cache.If this data is fetched from database then i want it to be updated using something like SQLCacheDependency.Can I configure it for my use or is it restricted for use with asp.net cache.

  • why does vb.net not support multiple inheritance?

    I've seen some discussion on why c# does not implement multiple inheritance but very little as to why it isn't supported in vb. I understand that both c# and vb are compiled down to intermediary language and so they both need to share similar restrictions. The lack of multiple inheritance in VB seems to have been given as one reason for the lack of the feature in dot net. Does anyone know why VB doesn't support multiple inheritance? I'm hoping for a bit of history lesson and discussion on why this was never considered for VB.

    Looking for a POP3 Client for .NET that basically just lets me log into a server and grab all the emails out, and maybe send some. I grabbed Indy.Sockets off of CodePlex and got it running but its throwing errors trying to decode the mail headers. Really anything is fine if it works.

    Hello I have created a setup for my windows application in .NET 2008 After building the same i have the .msi and setup.exe files in my release folder. The problem i am facing is : I can install the application using the msi installer files from the shared network folder. But when i copy the installer locally and tried to install it, i get the following error: Error reading file.Please Try again.     I'm looking for a server app to be routinely generating certificates for client applications using self-signed root. Is there any streamlined process in .NET to programmatically generate those certificates? I can, of course, keep spawning makecert or openssl, but I was looking for more programmatic, in-memory method, when you just get X509Certificate on output. If someone got a code snippet, can you please share?

  • FireBird .net provider 64bit

    I'm trying to get a firebird web application (IIS6 64 bit) to run. However I'm getting bad image format (bit difference incompatability) issues. Has anyone got any advice to get it running. Details AnyCPU application references the .net firebird driver (through nhibernate) which uses a native 64bit dll. There is a native 32bit dll which I use for local development and it works fine. (I havn't got the 32 version working on the 64 bit server either).

    Hello there I have developed an application in vb.net2008 and database sqlserver. Now i want to ignore the database(it has 1 table as customer(name,password,hour,minute)) as i dont want my client to install sqlserver separately or other overheads. I am planning to do the whole using file handling in vb.net(manipulating the data in files itself eg change username, password etc).
