• Flash CS3/AS3 - How to Mask Nested MovieClips in External Classes

  I have a number of external class files that make up (or are trying to build) a portfolio. One of the class files for this project is a Menu.as class I tried extends, but I'm yet to use extends to where it doesn't become a ball of tangled holiday cheer. So my main portfolio class (the one where I'm assembling everything) calls an instance of the Menu class. From the Preloader through the Portfolio class into the Menu class is where I'm passing the content because I want to package things properly. This is Menu content, so naturally I want to position it in a properly names spot. I'm trying to reveal this Menu in a mask and I'm getting the old #1009 error. In a trace, this will work: trace(site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc); // returns [object mainMask_mc_4] However, when I try to truncate the string into a single compact_mc... compactMenu_mc = site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc; trace(compact_mc); // it won't trace (#1009). I said to hell with it, but now I need to have one MovieClip mask another. So I figure I can't go all... parent.parent.parent.clip_mc.mask = parent.parent.parent.masked_mc Probably because of datatyping and whatever else. I hate to be vague, but I'm new and have been working like gangbusters for days to get this portfolio up. Any suggestions or pointers on things my noob brain might've missed are given much thanks. :)

• Indy IdSMTP and attachments in Thunderbird

  Hello! Using the latest snapshot of Indy tiburon on D2010. A very simple project like: var stream: TFileStream; (s is TidSMTP and m is TidMessage) begin s.Connect; Stream := TFileStream.Create('c:\Test.zip', fmOpenRead or fmShareExclusive); try with TIdAttachmentMemory.Create(m.MessageParts, Stream) do begin ContentType := 'application/x-zip-compressed'; Name := ExtractFilePath('C:\'); //' FileName := 'Test.zip'; end; finally FreeAndNil(Stream); end; s.Send(m); s.Disconnect(); end; Everything works Ok in Outlook, The bat!, OE, yahoo, etc... but in Thunderbird the attachment is not shown. Looking at the source of the message in Thunderbird, the attachment is there. The only difference I can find between messages send by indy and other clients is that Indy messages have this order: Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="Z\=_7oeC98yIhktvxiwiDTVyhv9R9gwkwT1" MIME-Version: 1.0 while any other clients have the order: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="Z\=_7oeC98yIhktvxiwiDTVyhv9R9gwkwT1" Don't know if THAT is the source of the problem, but if so: is this a bug on Thunderbird or is this a problem with indy which "malforms" the headers of the messages? Is this order a problem? Does that matter anyway?

• Using jQuery.UI CSS Framework for DIV Styling

  Hi folks, a Project I am currently working on uses the jQuery UI framework for some of its widgets. To provide the user with a global look and feel I would like to use the framework also for its css stuff. I am implementing at the moment a dashboard like homepage, where the user can see an overall status of its data. This dashboard is build of some divs that should be aligned into a grid layout. I try to style the divs like follows <div class="ui-widget"> <div class="ui-widget-header">Box Header</div> <div class="ui-widget-content"> Content of the Box </div> </div> Later I would like to implement some draggable-and-sortable functionality. The Problem I am facing right now is that the boxes aren't properly aligned. Does anyone has a hint on using jQuery.UI for that kind of css work? • In WPF 3D, why can't a perspective camera's LookDirection be straight down?

  I'm attempting to position my perspective camera 30 units above the origin and pointing straight down. If I set the LookDirection of the camera to "0,0,-1", however, everything disappears. I have to make it "0.01,0.01,-1" for it to work. • Still getting duplicate token error after calling DuplicateTokenEx for impersonated token

  I'm trying to return a Sytem.IntPtr from a service call so that the client can use impersonation to call some code. My imersonation code works properly if not passing the token back from a WCF service. I'm not sure why this is not working. I get the following error: "Invalid token for impersonation - it cannot be duplicated." • Encrypted AES key too large to Decrypt with RSA (Java)

  Hello, I am trying to make a program that Encrypts data using AES, then encrypts the AES key with RSA, and then decrypt. However, once i encrypt the AES key it comes out to 128 bytes. RSA will only allow me to decrypt 117 bytes or less, so when i go to decrypt the AES key it throws an error. Now my questions are: What is the point of passing a state to the BeginReceive method if we're only working with a single socket? Is it to avoid using a class field? It seems like there's little point in doing it, but maybe I'm missing something. How can the state parameter help when dealing with multiple sockets? If I'm calling client.BeginReceive(...), won't all the data be read from the client socket? The devarticles.com tutorial makes it sound like in this call: m_asynResult = m_socClient.BeginReceive (theSocPkt.dataBuffer,0,theSocPkt.dataBuffer.Length, SocketFlags.None,pfnCallBack,theSocPkt); Data will be read from the theSocPkt.thisSocket socket, instead of from the m_socClient socket. In their example the two are one and the same, but what happens if that is not the case? I just don't really see where that last argument is useful or at least how it helps with multiple sockets. If I have multiple sockets, I still need to call BeginReceive on each of them, right?

• document.getElementById() returns null when using mozrepl (but not in firebug)

  I'm trying to use the mozrepl Firefox extension to give me a Javascript REPL from within emacs. I think I've got it set up correctly. I can interact with the REPL from emacs and can explore the document pretty much as described in the tutorial pages. The problem comes when I try to do something really simple, like get a context to a canvas element: repl> document.getElementById("mycanvas").getContext("2d") !!! • C#: WebBrowser.Navigated Only Fires when I MessageBox.Show();

  I have a WebBrowser control which is being instantiated dynamically from a background STA thread because the parent thread is a BackgroundWorker and has lots of other things to do. The problem is that the Navigated event never fires, unless I pop a MessageBox.Show() in the method that told it to .Navigate(). I've tried supplanting this line with a Thread.Sleep(), and by suspending the parent thread. Once I get this out of the way, I intend to Suspend the parent thread while the WebBrowser is doing its job and find some way of passing the resulting HTML back to the parent thread so it can continue with further logic. Why does it do this? How can I fix it? If someone can provide me with a way to fetch the content of a web page, fill out some data, and return the content of the page on the other side of the submit button, all against a webserver that doesn't support POST verbs nor passing data via QueryString, I'll also accept that answer as this whole exercise will have been unneccessary.

• Slow performance when utilizing Interop.DSOFile to search files by Custom Document Property

  I am new to the world of VB.NET and have been tasked to put together a little program to search a directory of about 2000 Excel spreadsheets and put together a list to display based on the value of a Custom Document Property within that spreadsheet file. Given that I am far from a computer programmer by education or trade, this has been an adventure. I've gotten it to work, the results are fine. The problem is, it takes well over a minute to run. It is being run over a LAN connection. When I run it locally (using a 'test' directory of about 300 files) it executes in about 4 seconds. I'm not sure even what to expect as a reasonable execution speed, so I thought I would ask here. The code is below, if anyone thinks changes there might be of use in speeding things up. What are some alternative hash functions that perhaps use every letter in the alphabet as well as integers that are perhaps shorter in string length and have low collision rates? Thanks!
