  How to have Dojo support disabled by default and just enable it if you want to use it ? I have the problem that dojo support is automaticly loaded when using any form. Even without any dojo elements. • Developing Silverlight 1.0 Applications on VS2008 SP1

  Hi, Can anyone point me to any guides, howto's or general documentation on how to develop Silverlight 1.0 (it has to be 1.0) on VS2008 SP1. I have searched high and low for information, and it all seems to be out of date (referencing Silverlight 1.0 Tools for Visual Studio 2008 beta, release candidate and alpha packages) or just plain doesn't work under VS2008 SP1. What do I need to install, and which project do I need to create? I have installed the Silverlight 1.0 SDK, which gave me no starting point, the Silverlight 2.0 Tools for Visual Studio after a website suggested you could use that to develop 1.0 apps, but the suggested template doesn't exist, and Silverlight 3.0 Tools for Visual Studio, which was a last ditch resort. • How to shrink-to-fit an std::vector in a memory-efficient way?

  I would like to 'shrink-to-fit' an std::vector, to reduce its capacity to its exact size, so that additional memory is freed. The standard trick seems to be the one described here: template< typename T, class Allocator > void shrink_capacity(std::vector<T,Allocator>& v) { std::vector<T,Allocator>(v.begin(),v.end()).swap(v); } The whole point of shrink-to-fit is to save memory, but doesn't this method first create a deep copy and then swaps the instances? So at some point -- when the copy is constructed -- the memory usage is doubled? If that is the case, is there a more memory-friendly method of shrink-to-fit? (In my case the vector is really big and I cannot afford to have both the original plus a copy of it in memory at any time.)

• How do you get Eclipse/Mylyn to fill out your commit messages for you?

  I've setup the following: Installed Mylyn in Eclipse Installed the Bugzilla connector Installed Subversive SVN Integration for the Mylyn Project I've gone to Windows - Preferences - Tasks - Team and clicked Change Set Management and left it with the default Commit Comment Template: ${task.status} - ${connector.task.prefix} ${task.key}: ${task.description} ${task.url} However, if I activate a bugzilla bug in the Task List, and then edit a file, when I commit the changes the commit message isn't filled in. Also, in the Synchronisation perspective there isn't a change set for the task I'm working on. I've tried following the instructions on the Eclipse wiki's Mylyn FAQ for Why does task change set not appear when I modify files? but the bullet point: * Verify that the configured Synchronize View is configured for change sets. points to a section that is no longer in the document. I have a Show Change Sets button, but clicking it only shows me incoming change sets, there aren't any outgoing change sets. What am I missing?

• ASP.net - Crystal Reports exporting to PDF adds the letter "i" to certain words randomly

  We are using Crystal Reports to generate pdf's of customer bills (from a CR template). It works fine except the engine seems to be adding the letter "i" to random words in the output. Certain alignment problems are also evident (words overlapping etc). Standard fonts are being used. We are using .net 4 and C# linked to the 10.5 CR assemblies. Latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader is installed on the server. We have now tried this via 12.2 CR assemblies with the same results. We have also tried multiple .rpt files with the same results.

  Hi, I'm repeating same binding parameters for every textbox and they're quite long strings (which is not good for many reasons). And I'm wondering if there's a way to make them shorter? For instance all my controls on forms are using the following binding template: Text="{Binding SourceProperty, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, ValidatesOnExceptions=True, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, NotifyOnValidationError=True}" I'd would like to have something shorter that ideally will take SourceProperty as parameter. Possbly like this: Text="{MyBinding SourceProperty}" or Text="{Binding SourceProperty, Params=MyParams}" One possible option would be to inherit from Binding and create new markup extension. Did someone tried this? Any other ideas how to make these repetetive bindings look better?

  I'd like to 1) Draw create form fields and populate them with data from javascript objects 2) Update those backing objects whenever the value of the form field changes Number 1 is easy. I have a few js template systems I've been using that work quite nicely. Number 2 may require a bit of thought. A quick google search on "ajax data binding" turned up a few systems which seem basically one-way. They're designed to update a UI based on backing js objects, but don't seem to address the question of how to update those backing objects when changes are made to the UI. Can anyone recommend any libraries which will do this for me? It's something I can write myself without too much trouble, but if this question has already been thought through, I'd rather not duplicate the work.

• Question about member function pointers in a heirarchy

  I'm using a library that defines an interface: template<class desttype> void connect(desttype* pclass, void (desttype::*pmemfun)()); and I have a small heirarchy class base { void foo(); }; class derived: public base { ... }; In a member function of derived, I want to call connect(this, &derived::foo); but it seems that &derived::foo is actually a member function pointer of base; gcc spits out error: no matching function for call to ‘connect(derived* const&, void (base::* const&)())’ I can get around this by explicitly casting this to base *; but why can't the compiler match the call with desttype = base (since derived * can be implicitly cast to base *)? Also, why is &derived::foo not a member function pointer of derived?

But in most of the cases the header and sidebar-wrapper, footer are stationary part of page, most of the time the sidebar content are not changes means they are constant. Only the main wrapper is always changes. So I want to ask you that, when user clicks on any link, or menu item or at the footer the main-rapper only loads without loading all other wrappers. *This may increase the loading time...* Anybody know how to do it???

  using ASP.NET I need to update an excel template. Our server is running Windows 2008 in 64 bit mode. IF the application pool is set to Enable 32 bit applications the code works as expected; however the oracle driver I am using fails as it is only 64 bit.   I'm trying to get my head around Core Data on the iphone. This is code from Apple's 'Navigation based app using Core data' template (method - insertNewObject) // Create a new instance of the entity managed by the fetched results controller. NSManagedObjectContext *context = [fetchedResultsController managedObjectContext]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [[fetchedResultsController fetchRequest] entity]; NSManagedObject *newManagedObject = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:[entity name] inManagedObjectContext:context]; It seems completely counter intuitive to me that the fetched results controller is used when inserting a new object. I changed the code to this: NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Event" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; NSManagedObject *newManagedObject = [NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:[entity name] inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; which works just as well and does not require access to the fetch request. Am I missing something here? Is there any good reason to use the fetched results controller in the insert method?

• C++ destructor seems to be called 'early'

  Please see the "edit" section for the updated information. Sorry for yet another C++ dtor question... However I can't seem to find one exactly like mine as all the others are assigning to STL containers (that will delete objects itself) whereas mine is to an array of pointers. So I have the following code fragment #include<iostream> class Block{ public: int x, y, z; int type; Block(){ x=1; y=2; z=3; type=-1; } }; template <class T> class Octree{ T* children[8]; public: ~Octree(){ for( int i=0; i<8; i++){ std::cout << "del:" << i << std::endl; delete children[i]; } } Octree(){ for( int i=0; i<8; i++ ) children[i] = new T; } // place newchild in array at [i] void set_child(int i, T* newchild){ children[i] = newchild; } // return child at [i] T* get_child(int i){ return children[i]; } // place newchild at [i] and return the old [i] T* swap_child(int i, T* newchild){ T* p = children[i]; children[i] = newchild; return p; } }; int main(){ Octree< Octree<Block> > here; std::cout << "nothing seems to have broken" << std::endl; } Looking through the output I notice that the destructor is being called many times before I think it should (as Octree is still in scope), the end of the output also shows: del:0 del:0 del:1 del:2 del:3 Process returned -1073741819 (0xC0000005) execution time : 1.685 s Press any key to continue. For some reason the destructor is going through the same point in the loop twice (0) and then dying. All of this occures before the "nothing seems to have gone wrong" line which I expected before any dtor was called. Thanks in advance :) EDIT The code I posted has some things removed that I thought were unnecessary but after copying and compiling the code I pasted I no longer get the error. What I removed was other integer attributes of the code. I am glad that it is not my memory management failing but rather another error. I have not made a copy and/or assignment operator yet as I was just testing the block tree out, I will almost certainly make them all private very soon. This version spits out -1073741819. • ImageView doesn't rescale Image to selected size

  I'm using a ImageView with a fixed size for adding an icon to a menu. In my application, I use it a lot of times, but on this ImageView the Layout Params seem to not work. Unlike the others ImageViews, in this case, I'm using a template directly, but I think that's not the problem. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <ImageView xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:layout_width="1dp" android:layout_height="1dp" android:scaleType="fitCenter" android:src="@drawable/ic_menu_moreoverflow_normal_holo_dark" android:contentDescription="ICON" /> Its been used in code as follows. ImageView iview =(ImageView) View.inflate(context, R.layout.icon, null); Theoretically, It should resize automatically the image, however, the images continues with the original size, although the size was 1dp. • aspnet_reqsql not working at all

  I would like to create the ASP.NET User database template on a database of my own, because I'd like to fully untegrate the user system with the rest of my DB. As I've read, i needed to use the aspnet_regsql tool. I put all the options (because my database is running on SQLEXPRESS and is in an mdf file in my project's folder). the program starts and seemingly runs without any errors, however, when I open the database after that, not tables or stored procedures have been added. One more thing: I did one more test. I intentionally gave the -d option a wrong mdf file address, and surprisingly, the program "finished" correctly, yet no file was crated or modified whatsoever.

• Need help making row of buttons consistent

  I'm making my first website, and I'm trying to make variable-sized buttons so they'll render correctly on low resolution (read: mobile) browsers. Currently I just have the usual rollover image solution (185 pixels wide by 37 tall if anybody cares), but when I preview the site in low resolution it looks, predictably enough, like complete crap (more specifically they don't have room so they arrange vertically instead of horizontally and take up a huge amount of screen real estate). Semi-related, is there a way to overlay text on a button without saving separate images, each with the correct text? Just using a single template for buttons and then deciding what text goes on it as it's needed? tl;dr: I'm trying to get a horizontal lineup of buttons for navigating my website, but I'm a noob and I can't do it right without your generous assistance.
