  Just I started learning MVC pattern,ofcourse i am learning it from Microsoft's website.Just i want to gather quiz information from the experts. My understanding is (correct me then and there) 1 ) MVC does not support server side events ,but supports client side events.if it supports client side events,i need html page with jQuery/Javascript (view),but most of the example i absorbed is to display the information(model) in view ,i did not see any client side event handling happens in view. 2) Except ViewState and controlState,MVC supports Sessions,Application State management,Cache management. 3) When request goes to MVC engine ,the routing module routes the request that is picked up by the controller.The controller in executes the appropriate action and return the appropriate view.

• enable profiler / Traceon after SQL server restart automatically

  hi, My client is facing some deadlocks while using our application. I want to track all the deadlocks for my research and to solve the deadlocks. i am currently run the SQL profiler for the event deadlock graph to capture the deadlock scenario. the actual problem is that the SQL server gets restarted every day at 2 am, and the profiler stops capturing the events after the restart. by the time i come to office at start the profiler at say 10 am, there could be deadlocks which i could have missed between 2 am and 10 am. so i am looking for a way so i can capture the deadlocks without me starting manually. i thought i could use TRACEON(1204,-1) so that the deadlock events get captured in the SQL Server error logs. But i found that the TRACE capturing too gets disabled after the restart. Is there a way i can capture the deadlocks either by SQL profiler or by using TRACEON without me manually starting the capturing? Nikhil

  I have an AjaxControlToolkit accordion control that i'm trying to load panes at runtime. When I click a button inside a listview, it should add a new pane to the accordion control. Here is the code that adds the pane in the onitemcommand event within the listview var pane = new AccordionPane { ID = key }; pane.HeaderContainer.Controls.Add(new LiteralControl(label.Text)); pane.ContentContainer.Controls.Add(LoadControl("~/UserControls/Covers/" + e.CommandArgument + ".ascx")); accordion.Panes.Add(pane); And this will successfully show a webcontrol inside the accordion control. But when I click on another button in the listview, the accordion is reset and it only shows the new pane instead of appending a new pane. Is there any way to keep the previous pane visible across postbacks like this? By the way, each of the webcontrols that are loaded in the accordion have input fields that will need to be persisted across postbacks as well. thanks!

  Hi, i'm trying to make a scrollable box, when a mouse enters and STAYS on "wrapper"'s area, "pubsBox" moves 10 pixels to the left. <mx:Canvas id="wrapper" height="80" width="750"> <mx:HBox id="pubsBox" horizontalGap="10" height="80" width="100%" /> </mx:Canvas> My problem is that I'm not sure how to make the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER work, to recognize that the mouse is still ON the area and so pubsBox should continue to move 10 pixels to the left every second. I understand that i have to use a Timer, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that I can't get Flex to recognize that the mouse is still OVER "wrapper" and continue firing the event. Any ideas?

  Hi folks, Just a simple question, for the jquery event. Are the .load(), .ready() and .unload() run in order when the DOM is loaded? The answer seems yes when I see the jQuery Documentation. <script type="text/javascript"> $(window).load(function () { // run code initializeCode(); }); $(document).ready(function() { //run code that MUST be after initialize }); $(window).unload(function() { Cleanup(); }); </script> However, the code inside the .ready() is execute before the initializeCode(); is execute, so I feel really strange. And now I have to place my code inside the .onload() method and just after the initializeCode(); line, which means to be inside the .ready() block. • NSStream sockets missing data

  I am trying to pull some sample data from FreeDB as a proof of concept, but I am having a tough time retrieving all of the data off the incoming stream (I am only getting the last bits for the final query listed here (if handshakeCode = 3) I think this may be something with the threading on the main runloop, but I am not sure. Odd thing is when the buffer size is larger than 1-2 bytes (which works as expected), I seem to be losing access to the data programmatically (the totalOutput variable on the first set of data is incomplete). I set up a packet capture, and it looks like those 1024 bytes are coming across the wire, but the app just isn't working with it. It looks like the next event is coming through and basically taking over. I tried using an NSLock to no avail as well. If I drop the buffer size down to 1 or 2, things seem to be reading just fine. This is probably obvious to someone who does this all the time, but this is my first foray into this with something I am familiar with, technology wise in other languages / platforms. The following code will show you what is happening. • How do I.. get a value for time at 9:00am local, regardless of the timezone?

  In my app, I need to set a variable for a start time to be 9:00 a.m. local, wherever the user is located. I have a timezone variable for each user and the save and retrieve are all working. But I need to set a variable when I create a new event to be 9:00 am in the user's local time zone. My current method uses the local time of the server, then makes the adjustments for the individual user's time zone. I don't know what I don't know - is there a command to create the value for "Today's date at 9:00 am where you are"? My current code is: t = Time.now.to_date.beginning_of_day + 11.hours (forcing the 2 hour offset between my primary user and the server in a different timezone).

• Mouse interaction in ListBoxItem children (WPF)

  I have a ListBox with an ItemTemplate that contains a control that interacts with the mouse. This interfers with the selection functionality of the ListBox, i.e. clicking a control does not select the item. This is because ListBoxItem sets the Handled property of the mouse event to true in OnMouseLeftButtonDown. I tried the following protected override void OnMouseLeftButtonDown(MouseButtonEventArgs e) { base.OnMouseLeftButtonDown(e); e.Handled = false; } but the ListBoxItem “takes over” the mouse and prevents the control from doing its own interaction.   I am currently using datasets for my data access layer. I currently store the connection string in the web.config file. I need the ability to change the connection to another database before any queries are processed. Is there an event that is triggered or a base class that can be modified that intercepts the process of retrieving the connection string from the web.config file? Is there any way to handle multiple database connections using the same code base and also take advantage of the connection pooling? I understand the best method is to get rid of datasets and use custom data objects. Any ideas?

• UIButtons work when rotated right, but not when rotated left. Huh?

  I have a view that is added to the current view when the device is rotated to a LandscapeLeft or LandscapeRight orientation. This view has 4 buttons on it that are all connected to outlets and each have the "touch up inside" event hooked up to the same action. If rotated to a LandscapeLeft orientation, I transform my added view to rotate -90 degrees, and everything works fine. If rotated to a LandscapeRight orientation, I transform the added view to rotate 90 degrees, and the buttons don't work! Highlighting doesn't happen, and the action isn't called. I am at a bit of a loss as to why this might be. Any ideas?

• Next month, same day in PHP

  I got a last time (and urgent) requeriment of an "event" that needs to be scheduled the same day of every month. Say of you set the start date on the 1st May you should get the next events on the 1st of Jun, 1 Jul etc. The problem comes with a start date on the 31st (the next ones could be 30 or 28 depending on the month) Considering that there are months with different numbers of days (28,30,31) depending on the month itself and the year... what would ba an easy way to setup this? • Ubuntu 12.04 does not see windows already install on my computer (dual installation)

  I was trying to install the ubuntu 12.4 along side windows 7 on my new HP Pavilion 64k desktop with windows 7 computer but Ubuntu said that ( This computer has no detected operating system) and some one said (I suggest you chkdsk your Windows partition. I also suggest you resize the NTFS in WIndows then install Ubuntu to the free space.) Therefore I did (To shrink a simple or spanned volume using the Windows interface In Disk Management, right-click the simple or spanned volume you want to shrink. Click Shrink Volume…. Follow the instructions on your screen.) Then When I try to install ubuntu 12.4 after doing this, I received the same error. I was going to undo what I did but I see that I lose 1g when I do that so now what do I do? it says I can do a new simple volume and maybe then the space will no longer be unallocated. Please help me. I think I have a bad cd (ubuntu 12.4) cause from my research I see that I am not suppose to get a screen saying that (The computer has no detected operating system) I think this is a bad cd and I hope I did not mess up my computer. I did chkdsk as you and actionparsnip (andrew-woodhead666) told me to AND ALSO did a lot of other things before I found out how to chkdsk. No problems. Thank you. Then I put back the space (extended) I took from system. I still was only able to put back 15 and not 16 so it is up to 99mb not back to 100mb. Then I shrank HP (C) as you told me, to 10 13,240 mb which is (12.93gb Unallocated). I did not change it into NTSF by doing the (New Simple Volume Action) I just left it. Then I tried to install UBUNTU 12.04 live CD amd64 and it gave me the results it was sometimes giving me before which is result (THAT Ubuntu) does not tell me weather I have or have not an already installed windows7. It just goes to a window that would have showed me information on what I have and on the bottom (DEVICE FOR BOOT LOADER INSTALLATION /dev/sda ) and the option to go BACK, QUIT, or INSTALL. (I think it is the INSTALLATION TYPE window). Therefore I do what I have been doing and I QUIT. What do I do now? Sorry that it seems like I cannot do anything on my own. On the Youtube video how to install ubuntu dual-boot alongside windows UBUNTU is installed so easy. The installation option page gives 3 options including dual instillation and the disk even lets you use a slider to slide to the size of the partition size you want. Yet my UBUNTU live cd is a mess and I checked it as one of you guys told me and got back information that it is good. Oh well this guy says you should press a control key to tell which device you are using to install ubuntu before the screen comes up. I guess cause it is old. This time the Installation Type window should contain the option to Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7.} This is what I decided to do. I did not see the rest of your help 'till now. Never the less. I think the best thing for me to do now is to get a cheap used laptop and either do a dual installation or just install Ubuntu on to it. This way if I have any issues that I cannot solve like the one I had here, at least I will still have a usable computer to work on and to use to get answers with because I am not an expert like the people on this forum. • NServiceBus pipeline with Distributors

  I'm building a processing pipeline with NServiceBus but I'm having trouble with the configuration of the distributors in order to make each step in the process scalable. Here's some info: The pipeline will have a master process that says "OK, time to start" for a WorkItem, which will then start a process like a flowchart. Each step in the flowchart may be computationally expensive, so I want the ability to scale out each step. This tells me that each step needs a Distributor. I want to be able to hook additional activities onto events later. This tells me I need to Publish() messages when it is done, not Send() them. A process may need to branch based on a condition. This tells me that a process must be able to publish more than one type of message. A process may need to join forks. I imagine I should use Sagas for this. Hopefully these assumptions are good otherwise I'm in more trouble than I thought. For the sake of simplicity, let's forget about forking or joining and consider a simple pipeline, with Step A followed by Step B, and ending with Step C. Each step gets its own distributor and can have many nodes processing messages. NodeA workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and publish EventA NodeB workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and publish Event B NodeC workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and then the pipeline is complete. There are basically 2 things that might happen: Both instances of Node B report that it is subscribing to EventA, and also that NodeC.Distrib.Data@MYCOMPUTER is subscribing to the EventB that Node B publishes. In this case, everything works great. Both instances of Node B report that it is subscribing to EventA, however, one worker says NodeC.Distrib.Data@MYCOMPUTER is subscribing TWICE, while the other worker does not mention it. In the second case, which seem to be controlled only by the way the distributor routes the subscription messages, if the "overachiever" node processes an EventA, all is well. If the "underachiever" processes EventA, then the publish of EventB has no subscribers and the workflow dies. So, my questions: Is this kind of setup possible? Is the configuration correct? It's hard to find any examples of configuration with distributors beyond a simple one-level publisher/2-worker setup. Would it make more sense to have one central broker process that does all the non-computationally-intensive traffic cop operations, and only sends messages to processes behind distributors when the task is long-running and must be load balanced? Then the load-balanced nodes could simply reply back to the central broker, which seems easier. On the other hand, that seems at odds with the decentralization that is NServiceBus's strength. And if this is the answer, and the long running process's done event is a reply, how do you keep the Publish that enables later extensibility on published events?

• Outlook MAPI session exception when outlook interface is closed

  I'm developing a email sender that retrieve data from a database, build up a MailItem with the Outlook Interop and send it. My email sender is running by a windows service that is notified everytime there's some data to send. I'm logging on the MAPI session of Outlook without problem and everything seems to work. But... when someone open Outlook interface and then close, my service crash at the first attempt i call a SendAndReceive method, with an exception that report that the session is assigned to another thread. I'm googling around for hours and i'm listening to the application_quit event, raised by the interface closing, trying to logoff and logon again to the application...but i'm still falling in the same error. Where am i wrong?Any suggestion? Thank you in advance

• D-Day Calendar has wrong dates when importing from google calendar?

  Hi I am using D-Day calendar and I am not sure but I got a weird problem. I basically have this for my code iCalendar iCal = iCalendar.LoadFromStream(file.InputStream); foreach (Event evt in iCal.Events) { DateTime start = evt.DTStart.Date; DateTime end = evt.DTEnd.Date; // loop through it and get values. } Yet when I import a calendar from google calendar the end date is messed up on some of the stuff I am importing. Like for instance I have this Title: should not show When: Sun, March 21(all day). Yet when I import it in. I says the start date is the 21st yet the end date is the 22nd when it should be the 21st. Not sure what is going on. I am not really sure what other info I can give you guys.

• A very weired problem with texbox control in C# .net

  Well i know textbox is a very simple user control, perhaps the first input control ever made. I have been facing a very frustrating problem with this simple control. I programatically add a textbox in my user control. From ui i am able to edit it like a normal textbox. however, i am not able to read the user inputed value in the program. my program all the time sees the old value with which my text box was initialized. i textchange event getting triggered but the value never gets updated. This seemingly looks to be some innocuous bug in the code, but the program is very simple and it does not seem to be having any bug. Any guidelines on this issue?
