It says: The .NET Compact Framework for Xbox 360 implements a subset of the .NET Compact Framework, and has been optimized to take advantage of and expose the power of the Xbox 360. What exactly is the subset? Which version of the framework? 3.5? 2.0?

  I have found myself doing a lot of work to get nHibernate setup and am left wondering: Why use a framework like Hibernate/NHibernate? I am sure that quite a few people love the framework but I am unclear on the advantages and disadvantages. What are the advantages and disadvantages of lazy loading, and are there other features to Hibernate? Is there anything that makes a framework like this easier to use (best practices, other frameworks, etc)?

• Return current web path in PHP

  Hi All Currently developing a PHP framework and have ran into my first problem. I need to be able to drop the framework into any folder on a server, no matter how many folders deep, and need to find that directory to use as a base URL. For example, it currently works if I put the framework in the root of the server (http://cms.dev/), but if I were to put it in http://cms.dev/folder/ it does not work. Please advise, any comments welcome. BenTheDesigner

• Sam Abraham To Speak At The LI .Net User Group on June 3rd, 2010

  As you might know, I lived and worked on LI, NY for 11 years before relocating to South Florida. As I will be visiting my family who still live there in the first week of June, I couldn't resist reaching out to Dan Galvez, LI  .Net User Group Leader, and asking if he needed a speaker for June's meeting. Apparently the stars were lined up right and I am now scheduled to speak at my "home" group on June 3rd, which I am pretty excited about. Here is a brief abstract of my talk and speaker bio. What's New in MVC2 We will start by briefly reviewing the basics of the Microsoft MVC Framework. Next, we will look at the new features introduced in the latest and greatest MVC2. Many new enhancements were introduced to both the MS MVC Framework and to VS2010 to improve developers' experience and reduce development time. We will be talking about new MVC2 features such as: Model Validation, Areas and Template Helpers. We will also discuss the new built-in MVC project templates that ship with VS2010. • Deployable dependencies in Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Beta

  One new feature that comes with Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Beta is support for deployment references. Deployment reference means that you can include all necessary DLL-s to deployment package so your application has all assemblies it needs to run with it in deployment package. In this posting I will show you how to use deployment dependencies. When I open my ASP.NET web application I have new option for references when I right-click on my web project: Add Deployable Dependencies… If you select it you will see dialog where you can select dependencies you want to add to your project package. When packages you need are selected click OK. Visual Studio adds new folder to your project called _bin_DeployableAssemblies. Screenshot on right shows the list of assemblies added for ASP.NET Pages and Razor. All DLL-s required to run ASP.NET MVC 3 with Razor view engine are here. I am not sure if NuGet.Core.dll is required in production but if it is added then let it be there. Deploy to Azure I tried to deploy my ASP.NET MVC project that uses Razor to Windows Azure after adding deployable references to my project. Deployment went fine and web role instance started without any problems. The only DLL reference I made as local was the one for System.Web.Mvc. All Razor stuff came with deployable dependencies. Conclusion Visual Studio support for deployable dependencies is great because this way component providers can build definitions for their components so also assemblies that are loaded dynamically at runtime will be in deployment package.
