Hyper-V server 2012 nic teaming setup and virtual switch configuration

I have a server with 2 nics. I installed Hyper-v 2012 server (not windows server 2012, no gui) I am trying to set up load balancing. I have both nics in the same switch currently in trunk mode and no native vlan. I use the new-netlbfoteam command to create a team with both nics, I can then "set-netlbfoteamnic "Nic Team" -vlanid 4" so that its available to me with a DHCP or static address but as soon as I try to create a virtual switch it becomes unresponsive. My guess is that is due to it removing the vlan tagging I setup. if I add-netlbfoteamnic and set it for vlan 4, then set the IP I can ping it from my management computer but I just get an error "an error occurred while attempting to connect to server "xxxxxx" Check that the Virtual Machine Management service is running and that you are authorized to connect to the server."

Problem after resizing partition for Fedora under Vmware fusion

Hi, I am running FC9 under VMware Fusion 3.0 I wanted to resize my /dev/sda2 partition. In order to do that I did the following: 0. changed the size of the vmware file (under VMware settings). 1. rebooted the host to rescue mode without mounted disks 2. fdisk - removed & added /dev/sda2 - i had bigger /dev/sda2 3. lvm pvresize /dev/sda2 4. lvm pvdisplay - it showed me bigger size on /dev/VolGroup00 for /dev/sda2 5. lvm vgchange -a y - device-mapper: reload ioctl failed: Invalid argument - 2 logical volume(s) in volume group "VolGroup00" now active This is not true because there is no /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 My whole "/" disappeared. dmsetup table, shows: VolGroup00-LogVol01: 0 2097152 linear 8:2 38338944 VolGroup00-LogVol00: Can some one help me to solve this? Impersonation on IIS 7.0 passes the machine credentials for Crystal Reports

On a 32-bit Windows 2008 server running the Donor2 Application in the Classic .NET Managed Pipeline mode, configured for Windows Integrated Authentication and Impersonation, all of the .NET pages are passing the authenticated user’s credentials [DomainName\UserName]. This is the correct, expected behavior. The Crystal Reports pages, instead of passing the authenticated user’s credentials, are passing the IIS Server’s credentials [DomainName\MachineName$]. One of the very frustrating aspects of this situation is that I have another server which, as far as I can tell, is configured identically. That server, when loading Crystal Reports, is passing the authenticated user’s credentials [DomainName\UserName] as expected. I have obviously missed something, but I have no idea what it could be.

Using the Juniper EX3300 Switch as a router?

I have a Juniper EX3300 switch in a data center. And I have connected one of the uplink ports (ge-0/1/0) to my ISP's router. I want to configure it so that all the devices connected to ports in the same VLAN as ge-0/1/0 can access the Internet. I have done some research, and I haven't gotten anywhere really. I have configured the interface as follows: ge-0/1/0 { ether-options { no-auto-negotiation; link-mode full-duplex; speed { 1g; } } unit 0 { family inet { address xx.xx.xx.xx/32; } } } where xx.xx.xx.xx is the "Customer Router Port IP" assigned by my ISP. When I try to commit, I get the following error: Interface ge-0/1/0.0 not enabled for switching Can some one tell me what is the right way to configure it?

Virtual PC: Cannot restore machine from hibernate

I have two virtual machines set up from Virtual PC on Windows 7 Professional: Windows XP Mode and Xubuntu. Last time I used them (last month or so), I had closed them by hibernating. Evidently, I have meanwhile downloaded a Windows Update affecting VPC and now receive the following error in restoring either of them from hibernation: 'Xubuntu' could not be restored because of either host processor type mismatch or lack of hardware-assisted virtualization support in the system. I've been through the virtual machine's settings, and there's nowhere an option to simply reboot it. (Virtualization is not the problem, as I can create a new virtual machine without any problems.) Any ideas?

Trying to configure domain-based access via htaccess file.

I've created an account with no-ip.com that registers my ip with a subdomain of their service. When I do an nslookup, I see that the service is working and that my domain is being shown. Now I want to provide access to that subdomain on the admin site of our server which is protected by htaccess IP restrictions. When I try to add the new domain to my script it does not work. Am I doing something wrong? How to enable "Sleep" for Windows 2012 server

I recently installed Windows Server 2012. This will serve as the dev-instance for our engineers and will be accessed in multiple time zones. I therefore plan to run this 24x7 but want to conserve energy by going to sleep mode when not in use & enable Wake-On-Magic-Packet. Based on the previous post it appears that there is no option to sleep Win Server 2012 with Hyper-V. Since I don't care much about virtualization now, I uninstalled Hyper-V. In addition to this, I have done the following 1) Ran powercfg -a. Don't find sleep. 2) Added [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hvboot] "Start"=dword:00000003 to try gaining sleep - no luck! 3) Only see Shutdown and Restart in power options. how to program a special key on my laptop?

ok so i have a set of touch screen buttons on the top of my laptop's keyboard, (one turns on power save mode, one disables/enables the mouse touch pad, one toggles the wifi adapter, and two turns the volume up/down) however theres another one that opened a file backup utility that came with my laptop. but since i bought my laptop , ive uninstalled that utility, rendering this button useless. So i was wondering if it was possible to reprogram that button to open another file or program on my computer? And if so what are the requirements and how would i go about doing it? Cannot install xdebug

I'm getting a large number of undefined references when using $ld xdebug.so I have added the "zend_extension="/bla/xdebug.so"" to the conf for apache and it is giving me a config test failed because it cannot find the file. The file has been chown'd to www-data, so I do not believe it is a permissions error. I have run the wizard at xdebug.org/wizard.php to make sure the version would be correct, I updated to the version it recommended with an install from source and still receive the same error with apache and same output from $ld. I originally installed xdebug with: $apt-get install php5-xdebug And have also tried with: $pecl install xdebug

Wiki & issue-tracking in one system?

I'm looking for an integrated solution that combines documentation of a software system with tracking of bugs, change requests and feature requests. Requirements: Documentation using a wiki would be nice, preferably one supporting CamelCase or other automatic linking. Issue tracking must allow a customizable workflow and optional e-mail notifications. Known alternatives: FogBugz is an awesome issue tracker, but the wiki appears to be somewhat awkward. Trac's wiki is average (though not as nice as Foswiki.org) but I don't know how good the integrated issue tracker is. What would you recommend? What systems offer the best combination of documentation and issue tracking?

I need to protect a certain folder within a web application of mine from access from outside of an defined IP range. With O'Reilly's Tomcat Tips I figured that: <Context path="/path/to/secret_files" ...> <Valve className="org.apache.catalina.valves.RemoteAddrValve" allow="127.0.0.1" deny=""/> </Context> Is the way to go? I'm not that much into tomcat configuration so I'm dazzled a little as to where to put these restrictions. Do I put this Within my web.xml or is this a thing I need to add to some general tomcat conf file?

Printer Management in AD Domain

Hello, I normally push out all my printers via group policy preferences. However, the new copy machines I have are using some stranger drivers and I can not install x64/x86 drivers on the same machine for my clients to pull drivers from. So now I have two machines setup with the printer so they can pull drivers. Ontop of this there is specific driver configuration settings such as requiring the user to enter an access code to print set. Once the printer is installed via GPP, it puts everything to the default such as color mode, and other custom settings we like. I considered just using a Windows Print Server for this, but I do not know a way to push/delete these from clients like I can with GPP. Does anyone know how I can have a GPP copy the custom configuration I have set in the driver or have any recommendations?

But when I google "email us" - above message is displayed. My question is why does this happen ? Asterisk - Trying to use call files to create a conference call between two dynamic numbers

I'm trying to setup an Asterisk system that will allow me to create a conference call between two dynamic numbers. It seems I can use 'call files' to make Asterisk initiate the call without needing an incoming call - http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+auto-dial+out This example seems to be what I'd need: Channel: SIP/mytrunk/12345678 MaxRetries: 2 RetryTime: 60 WaitTime: 30 Context: callme Extension: 800 Priority: 2 I can generate this file with some scripting language and then place it into the Asterisk Call File folder. The problem I'm having is: How do I call out to two numbers and join them in a conference call? The MeetMe plugin/extension seems to be what I need in terms of conference calling, I'm just unsure as to how I'd use the two together and join them. Also, is it possible to have multiple 2-person conference calls at the same time? Is setting this up as simple as setting aside X amount of 'channels' in the meetme.conf?

Fixing Windows 7 hibernation

I've been mucking around with the partitions on my laptop (I'm an experienced Linux/grub guy) and have somehow ended up affecting the ability of Windows 7 to go into hibernate mode. All other functionality seems to be okay. But when I press Hibernate, it behaves as if it starts to (screen goes dark, a little disk activity) but never powers off and if I move the mouse the login screen instantly comes up. I don't know if Window uses a separate partition for hibernation? There is a 200MB partition on the drive - I seem to recall it was related to diagnostics or some other Windows- boot menu stuff. In any case, wondering if there's some commands I can run to restore the ability to hibernate and also which partitions need to be marked "active" and if there's anything I need to do to the MBR of the hard drive or the MBR of the Windows partition? As I said, Windows boots fine as long as it is designated the Active partition. I just need to fix Hibernation.

IIS7 failover cluster across datacenters

Hello, I have servers in two different datacenters with each datacenter getting static IPs. What I would like to do is setup the servers as IIS7 servers and allowing them to failover from datacenter to datacenter with little (or preferably) no interruption. Servers on both sides are running Windows Server 2008 x64 with IIS7 (or 7.5 if needed). I am interested in how to point DNS traffic to the new datacenter without manual human intervention. For example: Datacenter A: IP: 192.168.1.115 Servers: Server 2008 x64 w/ IIS 7 Datacenter B: IP: 192.168.1.220 Servers: Server 2008 x64 w/ IIS 7 Other information: Domain Name: Example.org Domain DNS: 192.168.1.115 If Datacenter A connectivity went down (broken service line, etc.) how does the traffic know to route to Datacenter B on 192.168.1.220? Repeated Reporting Services Login issue when deploying through BIDS to a remote server

We are having a problem deploying a reporting services report to a sql reporting services computer that is configured in SharePoint Integrated mode. I can successfully deploy to the SharePoint document libraries set up for reports and data connections if I do it locally from the box that SharePoint and Reporting Services are deployed on. If I try and do the same thing with the exact same deployment properties from a remote box, I constantly get a Reporting Services Login dialog popping up and no combination of domain\username and password will work. I've even tried the machines local admin account and still nothing. Any ideas where to start looking?

Poor upload/download speed on 2 x ADSL lines into a Cisco 2621XM

Hi, Sorry never been on this site before so I apologise if not the right section or even forum. I have users complaining of very slow internetn connectivity on site and have checked with our ISP who have said that the line is testing at 8mb. We have 2 x BT lines that have our ISP broadand on them. Both lines go into a Cisco 2600 series router that then has a PIX firewall off that. Connectivity is successful just gone really slow and unable to download anything. Debug Apache mod_status showing 151 requests/sec - 2.7 GB/second

One of my web servers went crazy this morning and showed "151 requests/sec - 2.7 GB/second - 140.7 MB/request" the normal is like "11.1 requests/sec - 65.6 kB/second - 5.9 kB/request" I don't even think that kind of through put is possible on my server. Make sent items appear in Outlook 2010 conversation without exchange

Hi I just installed outlook 2010, and saw this conversation feature. However my sent mails does not appear in the conversation. How do I make it appear there? PS: I'm not using exchange. Is there a way to do this without exchange? EDIT: There's something Weird happening. I'm testing this and it appears to work only sometimes. And When I Try this at the other company's computer that uses Exchange, but don't have exchange Cached mode enabled this doesn't work. And the option Show messages from other folders is not even there.

Puppet - how can i copy a file to several user folders?

Well i was using the info on this: Puppet - Any way to copy predefined custom configuration files for software on clients from the puppet master (host)? But i need some more elaborated, because i have several Desktops and are in use by 2 or 3 users each one, so i want to make a class for copy a shortcut in his desktops. The computers are joined to a domain, so any user can log in any desktop, and his profile is created in every desktop. I've tryed with this: class applink { file { "/home/installer/Escritorio/Workdesktop.desktop": owner => installer, group => root, mode => 770, source => "puppet://$server/files/Workdesktop.desktop" } This is only for one user called "installer", how can do this for several users? Can i use $USER for do this? Any Thoughts? Thank You!

Is there a Linux distro that will easily run "embedded style" on a Raspberry Pi?

I need a Linux distro that will give me the following: Run on a Raspberry Pi Can reliably survive power loss (like via a read-only filesystem) I've been able to hunt down some documentation on how to change a regular Linux distro over to read-only mode. I was hoping that there would be a distro already built that was designed to run in an embedded environment. I don't need many packages or drivers, just enough to have the Pi working with USB/Ethernet. I don't need any GUI interface or anything, this will just be running a custom service built in C. Does anyone know of a distro that would fit?
