Although my primary work will still be in deeply embedded C, I have finally decided to move my PC based tools into Ruby - (for quick scripting type stuff) and C++ or C# for GUI based interfaces and applications. Should I bother with C++ or just move straight to C#?

  I need to add a column to an existing table in my live sql database. I know how to use the ALTER command, but what I want to know is the effect this has on the table. For example,, if using SQL Management Studio, it claims that adding a column will "drop and recreate" the table. Will the ALTER table command do that as well? This table is CONSTANTLY accessed and VERY important so I want to make VERY sure of this before going forward.

  Conside the following code: int main() { signed char a = 10; a += a; // Line 5 a = a + a; return 0; } I am getting this warning at Line 5: d:\codes\operator cast\operator cast\test.cpp(5) : warning C4244: '+=' : conversion from 'int' to 'signed char', possible loss of data Does this mean that += operator makes an implicit cast of the right hand operator to int?
