• MMC Snapin development: 'MMC not responding' - Is there a timeout that can be set for debugging?

  So I'm writing a snapin for MMC 3. Quite often I have the debugger attached and I'm stepping through some code. MMC has some kind of a fail safe for misbehaving snapins that automatically unloads them after a timeout. The message is 'This snap-in is not responding'. After that MMC can behave as though your snap-in has been unloaded. fair enough, it's not responding because I'm stepping through the debugger. However, the timeout is very small for development. Does anyone know of a way of increasing the timeout? I googled and couldn't find anything. Checking the MMC registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC and couldn't see anything there. I also checked the snap-in registry location under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MMC\SnapIns. No luck. I feel like there must be a way of increasing the timeout as this is something the devs as Microsoft must have encountered this problem.

• Android Google map balloon over overlayitem

  I am using google map, displaying overlayitems on the google map. To create balloon effect, i am using customize view and using geopoints with MapView.LayoutParams to display it at particular location. overlayitem's icon and baloon both having same geopoint thats why they both are overriding eatch other. • jQuery button click refresh of jqGrid only firing once

  I have the following jQuery code which I'm using to populate a jqGrid. It works perfectly posting to my ASP.NET MVC page on the first click of the button. My problem is, any other clicks past the first it seems to run through the jquery code when clicking the button but it never makes it to the POST page. • Using Simple XML and getting NoClassDefFoundError in Android

  I'm trying to use Simple XML to convert my java objects to XML format in my Android application. I'm getting NoClassDefFoundError at line Serializer serializer = new Persister(); java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org.simpleframework.xml.core.Persister I have simple-xml-2.6.1.jar in project class path and when I got NoClassDefFoundError I also put these 3 jars in classpath stax-1.2.0.jar stax-api-1.0.1.jar xpp3-1.1.3_8.jar but made no use. Still having NoClassDefFoundError. Any kind of help will be appreciated.Thank you.

  Hi there, I'd like to implement my own script engine using the QtScript component and other Qt components. Since this should be an open source (GPL) application I thought I would be free to do this. But now I found a page at Qt's website that made me doubtful about it: What are the restrictions with releasing scriptable applications? Unless the scripter has a Qt license, the following restrictions apply: The application itself may not primarily be a script development tool. The Qt API may not be made directly scriptable. Scripts may not alter the main functionality of the application. If the major part of the application is developed with a compiled programming language and only some non-core parts of the application are made extendable/modifiable through Qt Script, the scripter does not need to purchase a Qt or QSA license. Users should have two possibilities of giving the location: automatically from iPhone build-in GPS by finding a specific point on a map (Google Maps) I know how to user CLLocationManager to get current position coordinates and I know how to add Google Maps using JS API. What I would like to know if how can I get coordinates for a specific point on a map that user clicks. Is that possible with UIWebView or is there any other way of getting the values I need?

• Hough transformation for iris detection in opencv

  Hi, I wrote the code for iris detection and it works well. Also I can crop the eye location of a face. Now I want to detect the iris of the crop image with applying the Hough transformation(cvHoughCircle). However when I try this procedure, the system is not able to find any circle on the image. Maybe, the reason is, there are noises in the image but I don't think it's the reason. So, how can I detect the iris ? I have the code of binary thresholding maybe I can use it, but I don't know how to do ?? If anyone helps I really appreciated. thx :)

• Git-windows case sensitive file names not handled properly

  We have the git bare repository in unix that has files with same name that differs only in cases. Example: GRANT.sql grant.sql When we clone the bare repository from unix in to a windows box, git status detecs the file as modified. The working tree is loaded only with grant.sql, but git status compares grant.sql and GRANT.sql and shows the file as modified in the working tree. I tried using the core.ignorecase false but the result is the same. Is there any way to rix this issue.

• XSL testing empty strings with <xsl:if> and sorting

  I am having trouble with a template that has to check 3 different nodes and if they are not empty, print the data I am using for each node then doing the output but it is not printing anything. It is like the test returns zero. I have selected the parent node of each node i want to check the length on as the template match but it still doesn't work. Another thing, how do i sort the list using . I tried using this but i get an error about loading the stylesheet. • How do I surpress maven assembly plugin skipping files that are already added? Or allow overwrite?

  Hello, For weeks, I've been wrestling with maven, getting it to deploy our project "properly." I'm almost done but I have one stubborn little problem: When I use the maven assembly plugin with the "directory" goal as in mvn assembly:directory I get LOTS of console output like the following: [INFO] tomcat/conf already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/conf/Catalina/localhost already added, skipping  [INFO] tomcat/webapps already added, skipping I've written my own assembly descriptor that basically copies several FileSets into various sub-directories within our deploy directory. Messages like the ones above appear whenever a file from one FileSet is being copied to a location in which another FileSet has already created the basic directory structure (and some "default" files that can be overwritten). So, I'm having a hard time figuring out: How do I either 1) Suppress these messages (but only the "already added" messages) or 2) allow for overwrite?

• Image map popup on rollover, with popup text drawn from database

  I have a custom map of the USA with about 20 polygonal hot spots. I would like a box to pop up next to each hot spot on hover, with text and links drawn from my DB specific to the location. I would have thought this is a common situation, but I can't find a solution that works. I tried using an asp:imagemap and an ajax popup extender but you can't assign IDs to hotspots and it doesn't support mouseover events. I tried css with an html image map but I can't figure out how to use css solutions with polygonal hot spots, and I also don't know how to link it to get the data from the db without asp targets (I'm not very familiar with jquery, which would work, I am guessing). Anyone know of any simple-ish solutions out there?

  I have a hybrid asp.net web forms / mvc application that I recently converted to .net 4 with mvc2. I have set-up that application to run on IIS 7.5 (on Windows 7) and the web forms part of the site is running okay but the MVC part is not. Whenever I try and access a page that needs to go through the routing engine I get HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Module IIS Web Core Notification MapRequestHandler Handler StaticFile Error Code 0x80070002 I'm debugging this web site through VS2010 (so I've set-it-up to use IIS instead of Cassini) and when I put a break point in the Application_Start function it is never hit so the routes are never registered. When I put a break point in the Page_Load function in one of the aspx page code-behinds it gets hit. So it seems that the problem is that the route is not being registered. What am I missing?

However nothing gets drawn (I am using Core Graphics to draw some lines on a derived UIView). If I call my update via a timer then all is well and good. Can you tell me why the render fails when done via threads? And is it possible to make it work via threads? Thanks Rich

• Explain difference in SQLIO numbers for RAID 0 versus RAID 5 over 6 disks

  When using the SQLIO benchmark tool on a 4-core Dell server with 6 15k 450GB (fast) drives, RAID 0, we found the max throughput was 2MB per second. But when configured as RAID 5, we get 30 MB per second. It seems that the RAID controller, Dell Perc 5i integrated controller, is maxing out the throughput per disk. With RAID 5, I expect to get a bump due to stripping, but not a 15x difference. Like good programmers, we suspect the hardware , but we could be missing something. This is predominately write traffic.

  Hello; I am getting an error in my Problems tab for my Android Project in Eclipse. The error is "Android Packaging Problem" with an Unknown location. Unknown Error NullPointerException I cannot determine what this problem is. My project was working a few hours ago. The only change I made was to add a public interface ITrackDao to my project and implement it. There are no errors associated with this. I am not even sure where to begin to look. • Creating .NET 3.0 sub-applications within .NET 1.1 applications in IIS/ASP.Net

  I am basically trying to do the same thing as this question, create a new application within a folder so it could be accessed as follows. * http://www.domain.com/ < Main App * http://www.domain.com/newapp < New App The problem is that newapp is reading the web.config from the Main App, which is causing errors because it doesn't have all the same dlls etc. For New App, in IIS, the starting point is set at /newapp, so I am not sure why it is reading the web.config from / at all. It is set as it's own application. I am testing this in IIS6 on XP Pro, so not sure if that makes a difference. The Main App is dotnet 1.1, and New App is 3.0. Edit: Adding 'inheritInChildApplications to <location doesn't work in 1.1, you get an error: Parser Error Message: Unrecognized attribute 'inheritInChildApplications'

• How to keep asm output from Linux kernel module build

  I'm working on a Linux kernel module for a 2.6.x kernel and I need to view the assembly output, though it's currently being done as a temporary file an deleted afterwords. I'd like to have the assembly output mixed with my C source file so I can easily trace where my problem lies. This is for an ARMv6 core and apparently objdump doesn't support this architecture. I've included my makefile below. • How to update an XBAP’s config file after deployment

  Hi All, Here is my scenario and would love any feedback. We have a WPF XBAP application which gets hosted on our customer's IIS server on which we as a vendor do not have any control over. So as a part of configuration, clients first need to configure the WCF service to point to the proper endpoints. Default location for the service is say "http://localhost/XYZ.svc" which needs to change to proper adderess such as "http://USC.intl.edu/XYZ.svc" (offcourse our service is not called XYZ, just using that name as an example). Problem in our test scenario is as soon as we change these values in the config file (Appname.exe.config) the manifest file becomes invalid and we start getting errors. The solutions that I have looked at talk about mageui.exe. Our clinets may not have this utility. So how can we achieve this without using this utility and have the app be configurable.
