  • Is there a C++ cross platform key/value API or library for C++?

    We want to persist some user settings int he GUI part of our code. I used to do Win32 programming exclusively and the typical way this was done was with registry settings. I assume that this should be done with configuration files, but was wondering if there was a library or cross platform wrapper that made key/value pair persistence very easy.

    It seems attribute values are of type Seq[Node]. scala> <a b="1"/>.attribute("b") res11: Option[Seq[scala.xml.Node]] = Some(1) This means you can assign XML as an attribute value. scala> <a b={<z><x/></z>}/>.attribute("b") res16: Option[Seq[scala.xml.Node]] = Some(<z><x></x></z>) scala> <a b={<z><x/></z>}/>.attribute("b").map(_ \ "x") res17: Option[scala.xml.NodeSeq] = Some(<x></x>) scala> new xml.PrettyPrinter(120, 2).format(<a b={<z><x/></z>}/>) res19: String = <a b="<z><x></x></z>"></a> This seems funky to me. I've never seen XML as attribute values in the real world. Why is it allowed? Why is an attribute value simply not of type String?

  • Is there a library / api for reading the contents of a .hlp help file?

So I thought I could just use the beginning of the menu's description of the help but just cant find how to access the contents of it.     How can I programmatically retrieve the current connection type (eg. LAN or Direct connection)? InternetGetConnectedState() isn't very reliable. For instance, I'm connected to a wireless network, but ConTypeRet is 18, which is INTERNET_CONNECTION_LAN & INTERNET_RAS_INSTALLED. Isn't there any way to make sure that ConTypeRet is either INTERNET_CONNECTION_LAN or INTERNET_CONNECTION_MODEM?
