• How do I hide "Extra File" and "100%" lines from robocopy output?

  I have a robocopy script to back up our Kiln repositories that runs nightly, which looks something like this: robocopy "$liveRepoLocation" "$cloneRepoLocation" /MIR /MT /W:3 /R:100 /LOG:"$backupLogLocation\BackupKiln.txt" /NFL /NDL /NP In the output, there are a ton of lines that contain "Extra file"s, like this: *EXTRA File 153 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fdt *EXTRA File 12 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fdx *EXTRA File 128 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.fnm *EXTRA File 363 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.frq *EXTRA File 13 E:\Kiln Backup\elasticsearch\data\elasticsearch-kiln\nodes\0\indices\kiln-2\0\index\_yxe.nrm Additionally, there are then hundreds of lines at the bottom that contain nothing but "100%"s, like this: 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% 100% In addition to making the log files enormous (there are a lot of folders/files in Kiln repos), it makes it annoying to scan through the logs now and then to see if everything was working ok. How do I stop "Extra Files" appearing in the log? How do I stop these silly "100%" lines appearing in the log? I've tried every combination of switch I can think of (the current switches are listed above in the command), but neither seem to hide these!

• How Can I Make Apache Stop Serving ALL Unknown File Types (like .php~)?

  I am coming from IIS and moving to Apache and recently found out that Apache by default serves up files of an unknown file extension as PURE TEXT. This can be an issue if a user uses certain programs that back up .php files as .php~. Then the .php~ file becomes completely readable by simply navigating to it in a browser. To make matters worse these .php~ files are often considered 'hidden' in the linux environment from the user so some may not even know they exist. Bots have been created around this fact that scour the internet looking for popular file name backups and extracting potentially secure info from them. I already know how to stop serving up .php~ files or any specific file extensions. I also know not to use any editors that would save backup files like this. My question is, how can I stop this default Apache behavior of serving up ANY non-MIME file type at all? I just don't like the this behavior and would like to stop it. I don't want it serving up .aspx~, .html~, .bob, .carl, no extension or anything else that is not a real MIME type. I know that I can probably go and use a directive to first Deny access to all file types. Then add the ones I want to serve out one by one. But I'm wondering if there's an easier/quicker way.   I know that IIS7 allows me to have a per directory configuration with the web.config xml file. I have a directory with some configuration files that don't want to be web accessible. A local web.config file forbidding read access to it would be a nice solution. What should be the contents of a web.config file to forbid web access to the files? Edit: I'm trying to put a web.config file with these contents in a file: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration> <system.web> <authorization> <deny users="*" /> <!-- Denies all users --> </authorization> </system.web> </configuration> But I can still directly access a file inside the directory. What's wrong with it? How do I debug what's happening?

  Sorry this is a repost, the original question got moved to here form stack overflow and for some reason I can't comment or respond to answers on that one anymore. Hi all, I'm trying to set up a virtual host for redmine.SITENAME.com. I've edited the httpd.conf file and now I'm trying to edit my DNS settings. However, I'm not sure exactly what to do. Here's an snippet of what's already in the named.conf file (the file was made by someone else who is unreachable): zone "SITENAME.com" { type master; file "SITENAME.com"; allow-transfer { ip.address.here.00; common-allow-transfer; }; }; I figure if I want to get redmine.SITENAME.com working, I need to copy that entry and just replace SITENAME.com with redmine.SITENAME.com but will that work? I was under the impression I needed a .db file but I don't see any reference to one in the current named.conf file. I also don't see any .db files or files named SITENAME in named.conf's directory. Any ideas where these illusive pre-existing db files could be?

• Apache HTTP Server+Tomcat: Which file generates mod_jk.conf, how to modify generated stuff, and how does httpd reach it?

  I'm using XAMPP with Apache HTTP Server and Tomcat Add-On installed. There's a default mod_jk.conf which is generated by Tomcat when starting it. But which file generates this mod_jk.conf file? How can I modify default values? By default, it looks like this: pastebin - mod_jk.conf. How does Apache HTTP Server reach this file? I can't see any reference to this file when looking into httpd.conf. When I put a VirtualHost in my httpd.conf file, and I put the line JkMount /* ajp13 into it, Apache HTTP Server service can't start (causes a 7024 event id error in Event Viewer (with error code 1, but nothing specific), but puts no error messages into error.log. The VirtualHost looks like this: pastebin - VirtualHost + JkMount. This way Apache HTTP Server can not start. If I comment out the line JkMount /* ajp13, it starts without a problem. BUT if I put the following line, which is the same as in mod_jk.conf, before the mentioned VirtualHost again, the service can start! <IfModule !mod_jk.c LoadModule jk_module "C:/xampp/tomcat/xampp/apache/modules/mod_jk.so" </IfModule Why do I have to put this line in again? Why does that happen, that the http://localhost/example does work, so this query is redirected to AJP13, but I have to put the LoadModule line in again in another file? EDIT: I don't have a clue why, I surely modified something, but now /example doesn't work either... And the config above gives a 500 Internal Server Error... :S Thanks!

  I've looked around and can't find anything that answers my question. This is my first question, so any tips or thoughts are welcome, as well as an answer :p As explained in title, i want to create a script that launches, finds a file on android phone, copies it, and pastes it to a flash drive. As of right now, it's a mix of multiple tutorials, trial and error, and I'm at a point of giving up. As of right now, I have a flash drive, loaded with three scripts. Then run this scrip. Yes i'm trying to pull the database to copy all my email contacts. I use launch.bat, which then makes file.bat invisible due to the invisible.vbs script. What would i need to do now to have the file searched for and copied to the flashdrive?   Using ASP.Net, JQuery and BlockUI, I'm trying to unblock the UI after a download file dialog is shown. But both options seem ackward, and I think there must be a clever JavaScript way to get a handle on or wait for a file dialog. Any suggestions?

• Is there a programming toolkit for converting "any file type" to a TIFF image?

  Hello, I've written several variations of a program. The purpose of the program is to convert "any file type" to a TIFF image represenation of that file, as if it were being printed using a printer. I'm currently using a third party printer driver that I send files to, and it outputs a TIFF image. This is nice, but it requires me to use Office Interop files, and interact with each individual processing application in order to print the files. I had previously tried a toolkit, called Apose .NET, which did not rely on Office Interop, and did not require any printer driver. It did the conversion all on its own and would create a TIFF image. The problem with Aspose .NET was that it did not support a wide variety of input file types. Most notably, it can't do Visio files. My project calls for the ability to create a TIFF image for virtually "any file type". (excluding exes, music files, and stuff) I know that finding something that handles literally any file type is probably not a very feasible task, so I figure if it can at least handle all the Office file types, Adobe types, and other major standard file types, then I can write a custom extension parsing module that uses those processing applications to do the printing of any file type that can be viewed using those applications. So, does anyone know of a toolkit that can do this? Preferably one that does not rely on Office or a printer driver. It does not have to be free, or open source.   I want to put some compressed data into a remote repository. To put data on this repository I can only use a method that take the name of the resource and its content as a String. (like data.txt + "hello world"). The repository is moking a filesystem but is not, so I can not use File directly. I want to be able to do the following: client send to server a file 'data.txt' server compress 'data.txt' into data.zip server send to repository content of data.zip repository store data.zip client download from repository data.zip and his able to open it with its favorite zip tool I have tried a lots of compressing example found on the web but each time a send the data to the repository, my resulting zip file is corrupted. • How do I recover from pushing a gitosis.conf file with parsing errors due to line breaks?

  I have successfully set up gitosis for an Android mirror (containing multiple git repositories). While adding a new .git path following writable= in gitosis.conf I managed to insert a few line breaks. • How to generate an ear file from a maven-archetype-webapp artifact?

  I currently have a project built with maven-archetype-webapp artifact. The default packaging for this project is war. Is it possible for me to insert the maven-ear-plugin in this webapp pom.xml generate an ear file that contains this project war? I tried that, but the war file doesn't get embedded in the generated ear file. It has everything except the war file. I read many Maven related articles, and perhaps I could use maven-archetype-j2ee-simple artifact. However, I'm reluctant to this use for 2 reasons:- This artifact handles ejbs and all the extra features that I don't use. It makes my project looks bloated. Second, it seems like it requires me to install the web module into the repository first before I can create the ear file. Is this the preferred way to create an ear file? How do I create an ear file that contains the war file using maven-ear-plugin from my webapp's pom.xml? If this way is not possible, what's the preferred way? I'm sorry if my questions sound a little novice, I realized I have whole lot more to learn about Maven. Thanks much.

• Is DB logging more secure than file logging for my PHP web app?

  I would like to log errors/informational and warning messages from within my web application to a log. I was initially thinking of logging all of these onto a text file. However, my PHP web app will need write access to the log files and the folder housing this log file may also need write access if log file rotation is desired which my web app currently does not have. The alternative is for me to log the messages to the MySQL database since my web app is already using the MySQL database for all its data storage needs. However, this got me thinking that going with the MySQL option is much better than the file option since I already have a configuration file with the database access information protected using file system permissions. If I now go with the log file option I need to tinker the file and folder access permissions and this will only make my application less secure and defeats the whole purpose of logging. Is this correct? I am using XAMPP for development and am a newbie to LAMP. Please let me know your recommendations for logging. Thanks.

• Commited memory goes to physical RAM or reserves space in the paging file?

  When I do VirtualAlloc with MEM_COMMIT this "Allocates physical storage in memory or in the paging file on disk for the specified reserved memory pages" (quote from MSDN article http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366887%28VS.85%29.aspx). All is fine up until now BUT: the description of Commited Bytes Counter says that "Committed memory is the physical memory which has space reserved on the disk paging file(s)." I also read "Windows via C/C++ 5th edition" and this book says that commiting memory means reserving space in the page file.... The last two cases don't make sense to me... If you commit memory, doesn't that mean that you commit to physical storage (RAM)? The page file being there for swaping out currently unused pages of memory in case memory gets low. The book says that when you commit memory you actually reserve space in the paging file. If this were true than that would mean that for a committed page there is space reserved in the paging file and a page frame in physical in memory... So twice as much space is needed ?! Isn't the page file's purpose to make the total physical memory larger than it actually is? If I have a 1G of RAM with a 1G page file = 2G of usable "physical memory"(the book also states this but right after that it says what I discribed at point 2). What am I missing? Thanks.

• C header file won't compile with C, but will with C++.

  I have the following chunk of a header file BKE_mesh.h: /* Connectivity data */ typedef struct IndexNode { struct IndexNode *next, *prev; int index; } IndexNode; void create_vert_face_map(ListBase **map, IndexNode **mem, const struct MFace *mface, const int totvert, const int totface); void create_vert_edge_map(ListBase **map, IndexNode **mem, const struct MEdge *medge, const int totvert, const int totedge); Note that the header file was prepared for the possibility of being used in a C++ file, as it had: #ifdef __cplusplus extern "C" { #endif at the top of the file, and the needed finish at the bottom. But the class implementing it was written in C. Next, whenever I try to #include the header file, I get an odd error. If the file has a .cpp extension, it compiles just fine, no complaints whatsoever. However, if I do: #include "BKE_mesh.h" inside of a file with a .c extension, I get the following errors: expected ')' before '*' token for the two last functions, in specific, the variable: ListBase **map in both classes. (Note that earlier in the header file, it declared, but not defined ListBase). So, my question is: why is this valid C++ code, but not C code? Thank you.

• Can't clone file-input element in Safari and Chrome. FF and Opera are OK

  This is very strange. I've got a simple form. I have a file input element outside this form. User clicks the file input element and selects a file. I clone the file input using this code: $('input[name="song[attachment]"]').clone(true).appendTo('form') In all browsers: FF, Opera, Safari, Chrome, when I inspect the form element, I see the cloned file input element inside the form. However, when I submit the form in FF and Opera it works. Safari and Chrome submits the form with an empty file input. I notice when the file input element is cloned and appended to the form element, it doesn't copy over its values. It only clones an empty input file element. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with my Jquery code? Or is this a security issue and that's why Safari and Chrome are not allowing me to do this? If the latter, why is FF and Opera doing otherwise?

• How can I make a new CTP (CakePHP) file in NetBeans?

  I have found a lot of info about adding CTP file support for NetBeans, but this is usually talking about code highlighting and treating a ctp file like a php file. This can be done at: Tools - Options - Miscellaneous - Files I have done this. However, when I try to create a NEW ctp file. I do not have the option. I tried going to Tools -> Templates to add a ctp template. There is no "new" button just an "add" button that looks for a file. I created a file on my desktop called cake_template.ctp on my desktop. I added it to the PHP templates in the template manager. I called the template "PHP Cake Template". Still when I go to create a new file, the option is not there. I restarted NetBeans, still the same. I just want to create a new .ctp file, it shouldn't be this difficult. Does anyone know how? I am using version 6.9.1

Open the file opmn.xml in a text editor, and alter the contents of the file as displayed in the following sample. You need to make sure that: The MaxPerSize is set to 128M. This is to ensure that you allocate enough PermGen space to OC4J to run Control Center Agent. This will prevent java.lang.OutOfMemoryError when running the agent. The Python.path sets the path for the Python library files used by the Control Center Agent: jython_lib.zip and jython_owblib.jar. These two files are in the $OWB_HOME/owb/lib/int directory, where $OWB_HOME is the directory where owb is installed. · The km_security_needed determines whether restrictions will be applied to the kinds of operating system commands allowed to be executed by the OWB Code Template script executed by Control Center Agent. Setting km_security_needed to “true” enforces such restriction while setting it to “false” removes such restrictions. Set up Control Center Agent Server Side Logging Ensure that you are in the Application Server configuration directory, $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config. Open the file j2ee-logging.xml in a text editor and add the following lines to the log handler section. The jrt-internal-log-handler is the handler used by Control Center Agent runtime logger to create log files. Then add the following entry into the loggers section to create the logger for Control Center Agent runtime auditing. Set up Audit Table Data Source To enable Audit Table logging, a managed data source and connection pool need to be set up before Control Center Agent deployment. Ensure that you are in the Application Server configuration directory, $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config. Open the file data-sources.xml in a text editor. Define the audit data source shown below in the file, <managed-data-source name="AuditDS" connection-pool-name="OWBSYS Audit   Connection Pool" jndi-name="jdbc/AuditDS"/> <connection-pool name="OWBSYS Audit Connection Pool">   <connection-factory factory-class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"     user="owbsys_audit" password="owbsys_audit"     url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@//localhost:1521/ORCL"/> </connection-pool> Copy ct_permissions.properties File The ct_permissions.properties can be obtained from $OWB_HOME /owb/jrt/config/ directory. You need to copy the file to $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory.This properties file takes effect when the setting km-security is set to true in Control Center Agent. By default the ALLOWED_CMD is commented out in ct_permissions.properties file. This prevents all system command from being invoked from scripts executed in Control Center Agent (when km-security is set to true). To allow certain system commands to be invoked, ALLOWED_CMD needs to be uncommented out, and the system commands (allowed to be invoked) need to be added to the ALLOWED_CMD. Set up Security Roles for Control Center Agent You can set up the Control Center Agent security roles through Oracle Enterprise Manager. In a web browser, navigate to Enterprise Manager Homepage (e.g. http://hostname:8889/em). 1. Log in using the oc4jadmin credentials. After the Cluster Topology page is loaded, click home (the OC4J instance). This takes you to the home page of the OC4J instance. On the OC4J home screen, click the Administration tab. On the Administration Tasks screen, expand Security. Click the task icon next to Security Providers. 2. On Security Providers page click on the button “Instance Level Security”. On Instance Level Security page, go to “Realms” tab. You will see a row for the default realm “jazn.com” in the results table. It has a “Roles” column and a “Users” column. Click on the number in “Roles” column. In the “Roles” page it will display all the roles available for the realm. Click on “Create” button to create a new role “OWB_J2EE_ EXECUTOR”. 3. On the Add Role screen, enter Name OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR, and click OK. 4. Follow the same steps as before, and create a new role “OWB_J2EE_OPERATOR”. 5. Assign role “oc4j-administrators” and “OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR” to the role “OWB_J2EE_OPERATOR” by moving these roles from “Available Roles” and click “OK” to save. 6. Go back to Instance Level Security page and create a new role “OWB_J2EE_ADMINISTRATOR”. 7. Assign roles “OWB_J2EE_ OPERATOR” and “OWB_J2EE_EXECUTOR” to the role “OWB_J2EE_ ADMINISTRATOR” by moving these roles from “Available Roles” and click “OK” to save. 8.Go back to Instance Level Security page. This time, click on the number in “Users” column for the realm “jazn.com”. In the “Users” page, it shows all the users defined for this realm. Locate the user “oc4jadmin” in the results table and click on it. 9. Assign the roles “OWB_J2EE_ADMINISTRATOR” and “oc4j-app-administrators” to this user by moving the role from the “Available Roles” selection box to “Selected Roles” box and click “Apply” to save. 10. Go back to Instance Level Security page and create a new role “OWB_INTERNAL_USERS”, assign no user or role to this role. Simply click “OK” to create this role. Now you have finished creating the security roles required for Control Center Agent. Create JMS Queues You need to create two JMS queues for Control Center Agent: owbQueue and abort_owbQueue. 1. Now go to OC4J home Page. On the OC4J home screen, click the Administration tab. On the Administration Tasks screen, expand Services and then expand Enterprise Messaging Service. Click the task icon next to JMS Destinations. 2. On JMS Destinations page, click “Create New” button to create a new JMS queue. On Add Destination page, choose “Queue” as Destination Type. Put “owbQueue” as Destination Name. Select “In Memory Persistence Only” as the Persistence Type and put “jms/owbQueue” as JNDI Location and click on “OK” to finish. 3. Follow the same instruction as above to create the owb_abortQueue. Now you have finished creating the JMS queues required for Control Center Agent. Install JDBC Drivers to OC4J In order to execute Code Templates using commercial databases other than Oracle, e.g. DB2, SQL Server etc, the corresponding jdbc driver files need to be added to $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applib directory. 1. To install other JDBC drivers to OC4J, first obtain the .jar file containing the JDBC driver. All the external JDBC drivers .jar files can be found in the directory: $OWB_HOME/owb/lib/ext/. For DB2, the files needed are db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar. For SQL Server the file is sqljdbc.jar. For sunopsis JDBC drivers, the file needed is snpsxmlo.jar. 2. Copy the required JDBC driver file into the directory $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/applib. Now you have finished the Application Server configuration. To make the configuration to take an effect, you need to restart the Application Server.   Task 2: Deploy the Control Center Agent to the Application Server Now you can deploy the Control Center Agent to the Application Server. In a web browser, navigate to Enterprise Manager Homepage (e.g. http://hostname:8889/em). 1. Log in using the oc4jadmin credentials. After the Cluster Topology page is loaded, click home (the OC4J instance). This takes you to the home page of the OC4J instance. On the OC4J home screen, click the Applications tab. Click Deploy to begin deploying Control Center Agent. 2. On the Deploy: Select Archive screen, under Archive, select Archive is present on local host. Upload the archive to the server where Application Server Control is running. Click Browse and locate the jrt.ear file in the $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/applications directory. Under Deployment Plan, select Automatically create a new deployment plan. Click Next. 3. Wait for the ear file to be uploaded to Application Server. On the Deploy: Application Attributes screen, enter Application Name jrt, and Context Root jrt. Leave the other attributes at their default values. Click Next. 4. On Deploy: Deployment Settings screen, leave all attributes at their default values, and click Deploy. This will take about 1 minute or so and when the application is deployed successfully, a confirmation message will be displayed. Now the Control Center Agent is started automatically. Go back to OC4J home page and click on Applications tab to make sure the deployed application jrt is showing in the applications list.   Task 3: Optional Configuration Tasks The optional configuration tasks contain: · Secure Control Center Agent Web Service · Setting the PATH Environment Variable Secure Control Center Agent Web Service If you want to use JRTWebService with a secure website, you need to do the following steps, 1. Create a file “secure-web-site.xml” in the $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. The file can be obtained from $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/config directory. A sample secure-web-site.xml is shown as below. We need to modify the “protocol” to “https”, and “secure” to “true”, also choose an port as the secure http port. Also we need to add the entry “ssl-config” in the file. Remember to use the absolute path for the key store file. 2. Modify the file “server.xml” that is located at $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. Then add the <web-site> element in the file for the secure-web-site. 3. Create a key store file “serverkeystore.jks” in the $AS_HOME/j2ee/home/config directory. The file can be obtained from $OWB_HOME/owb/jrt/config directory. After the three files are altered, restart the application server. Now you can access the JRTWebService in SSL way through https://hostname:4443/jrt/webservice. Setting the PATH Environment Variable Sometimes, some system commands such as linux ls, sh etc, can not be executed successfully during the script execution due to they are not found in PATH. To ensure they work normally, you can setup the environment variable PATH. Let’s navigate to the Enterprise Manager Homepage. 1. Go to OC4J home screen and click the Administration tab. Expand Administration Tasks, then expand Properties. Click the task icon next to Server Properties. 2. On the Server Properties screen, scroll down to Environment Variables section. Under Environment Variables, click Add Another Row. Enter PATH in Name, and fill Value with directories that contain the system commands.   I have installed encfs and started using it to secure all my personal & office data and it was working absolutely fine until 2 hours back. The setup is like this. I have a folder in Copy folder called OfficeData which gets synchronized with my Copy folder When I login into the system I use the command encfs ~/Copy/OfficeData ~/Documents/OfficeData Once my work is over I dismount with the command fusermount -u ~/Documents/OfficeData All this data get synchronized with my desktop and with my mobile phone (as a backup) Today when I mounted, the folder got mounted by no directories and files present in that folder. • Gnome Shell Theme Problem on Ubuntu 11.10

  I am trying to install ANewStart GNOME shell themes on Ubuntu 11.10. I have installed gnome shell extension for themes: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme I got the instructions from here ANewStart GNOME Shell Theme + AwOken Icons Theme = Pure Art. • SQL SERVER – Read Only Files and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

  Just like any other Developer or DBA SQL Server Management Studio is my favorite application. Any any moment of the time I have multiple instances of the same application are open and I am working on it. Recently, I have come across a very interesting feature in SSMS related to “Read Only” files. I believe it is a little unknown feature as well so decided to write a blog about the same. First create a read only SQL file. You can make any file read by Right Click >> Properties >> Select Attribute Read Only. Now open the same file in SQL Server Management Studio. You will find that besides the file name there is a small ‘lock’ icon. This small icon indicates that the file is read only. Now let us attempt to edit the read only file. It will let us edit the file any way we want, however when we attempt to save it, it gives following pop-up value. The options in the pop-up are self explanatory and I liked it. The goal of the read only file is to prevent users to make un-intended changes. However, when a user should have complete control over the user file. User should be aware that the file is read only but if he wants to edit the file or save as a new file the choices should be present in front of it and the pop-up menu precisely captures the same. Now let us check option related to this feature in SSMS. Go to Menu >> Options >> Environment >> Documents You will find the third option which is “Allow editing of read-only files; warn when attempt to save”. In the above scenario it was already checked. Let us uncheck the same and do the same exercise which we have done earlier. I closed all the earlier window to avoid confusion. With the new option selected when I attempt to even modify the Read Only file, it gives me totally different pop up screen. It gives me an option like “Edit In-Memory”, “Make Writeable” etc. When you select “Edit In-Memory” it allows you to edit the file and later you can save as new file – just like the earlier scenario which we have discussed. . If clicked on the Make Writeable it will remove the restriction of the Read Only and file can be edited as pleased. • Attachments in Oracle BPM 11g – Create a BPM Process Instance by passing an Attachment

  Problem Statement: On a recent engagement I had  a requirement where we needed to create BPM instances using a message start event. The challenge was that the instance needed to be created after polling a file location and attaching the picked up file (pdf) as an attachment to the instance. Proposed Solution: I was contemplating using process API to accomplish this,but came up with a solution which involves a BPEL process to pickup the file and send a notification to the BPM process by passing the attachment as a payload. The following are some of the brief steps that were used to build the solution: BPM Process to receive an attachment as part of the payload: The BPM Process is a very simple process which has a Message Start event that accepts the attachment as an argument and a Simple User Task that the user can use to view the attachment (as part of the OOTB attachment panel). The Input payload is based on AttachmentPayload.xsd.  The 3 key elements of the the payload are: <xsd:element name="filename" type="xsd:string"/> <xsd:element name="mimetype" type="xsd:string"/> <xsd:element name="content" type="xsd:base64Binary"/> A screenshot of the Human task data assignment that need to performed to attach the file is provided here. Once the process and the UI project (default generated UI) are deployed to the SOA server, copy the wsdl location of the process service (from EM). This WSDL would be used in the BPEL project to create the Instances in the BPM process after a file is polled. BPEL Process to Poll for File and create instances in the BPM process: For the BPEL process a File adapter was configured as a Read service (File Streaming option and keeping the Schema as Opaque). Once a location and the file pattern to poll are provided the Readservice Partner Link was wired to Invoke the BPEL Process. Also, using the BPM Process WSDL, we can create the Webservice reference and can invoke the start operation. Before we do the assignment for the Invoke operation, a global variable should be created to hold the value of the fileName of the file. The mapping to the global variable can be done on the Receive activity properties (jca.file.FileName).  So for the assign operation before we invoke the BPM process service, we can get the content of the file from the receive input variable and the fileName from the jca.file.FileName property. The mimetype needs to be hard coded to the mime-type of the file: application/pdf (I am still researching ways to derive the mime type as it is not available as part of the jca.file properties).  The screenshot of the BPEL process can be found here and the Assign activity can be found here. • Indentify Codecs & Technical Information About Video Files

  Have you ever wanted to play an audio or video file but didn’t have the proper codec installed? Today we’ll show how to determine codecs, along with a host of other technical details about your media files with MediaInfo. Installation Download and install MediaInfo. You can find the download link at the bottom of the page. Note: When installing MediaInfo there is a recommended software bundle which you can opt out of by selecting Do not install option. Each recommended software choice may be different, like in this example it offers Spyware Terminator. The cool thing though is they use Open Candy which opts you out of the install. Just double check to make sure you’re not installing extra crapware. Using MediaInfo The first time you run MediaInfo it will display the Preferences window. There are various option such as language, output format, and whether or not you want MediaInfo to check for new versions. Click OK. Select a file or folder to analyze by clicking on the File or Folder icons on the left of the application window or by selecting File > Open from the menu. You can also drag and drop a file directly onto the application. MediaInfo will display details of your media file. In Basic view, you’ll see basic information. Notice in the example below the video and audio codecs, along with file size, running time of the media file, and even the application used to create the video file (Writing application).    You can switch to some of the other views by selecting View from the Menu and choosing form the dropdown list.   Sheet View will present the information a bit more clearly. You can see in the example below that the video and audio codec are listing in clearly identified columns. (AVC is often more commonly referred to H.264.)   Tree View is perhaps the most detailed. You can see from the example below the codec used for this AVI file is XviD.   Scrolling down even further you’ll see additional information like video and audio bit rates, frame rate, aspect ratio, and more.   In Basic View (and also in Sheet view) you can click to find a player for your file. In this instance with an MP4 file, it took me to the download page for Quicktime. This is by no means the only media player for this file, but if you are stuck for how to play a media file, this will forward you to a solution that works. You can do the same thing with Video codec. Click Go to the web site of this video codec to find a download.   MediaInfo is a simple but powerful tool that can be used to discover the details of a media file, or just to find a compatible codec. It works with most any video file type and is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Some Mac and Linux versions, however, are currently command line only. • I just restarted Apache and now the server is down

  I am pretty terrified right now. I'm scared I'm going to get a call in a couple minutes from a hundred people saying the website doesn't work. I was at the terminal changing some configuration files when I went to restart the server to update the .conf files with this command: /etc/init.d/apache2 graceful After I ran that, none of the websites work and I have no idea what to do. There are about 100 errors I am getting according to the log files. They all begin with "PHP Notice" and most relate to "use of undefined constant" Also, I just spoke with a coworker, describing what I did, and he noticed that there are two installations of apache on the server and that I restarted the one that we don't use. The problem was (as you experts facepalming probably know) that it couldn't access an error log in the directory I was working in. I created an empty error log file and tried the restart command again and now all the sites are back up... Though my original problem is still there.. Thanks to all those who offered advice, it really helped and let me breathe for a moment.
