• Using wix3 SqlScript to run generated temporary sql-script files.

  I am starting to write an installer which will use the SqlScript-element. That takes a reference to the Binary-table what script to run. I would like to dynamically generate the script during the installation. I can see three possibilities: Somehow to get SqlScript to read it data from a file rather then a Binary entry. Inject my generated script into the Binary table Using SqlString Which will cause the need to place some rather long strings into Properties, but I guess that shouldn't really be a prolem. Any advice? Regards Leif (My reason, should anyone be interested is that the database should have a job set up, that calls on an installed exe-file. I prefer to create the job using sqlscript. And the path of that file is not known until InstallDir has been choosen.)

• Adding rows to UItableview and passing data between Viewcontrollers

  I have a list of websites in a plist, when the app loads this populates a tableview (which is inside a navigation controller) But I have added an add button to the navigation bar and then created another View Controller to deal with inputting of the new website (Like Title and URL). It is very similar to how the contacts app looks. There is a table view and when you tap add, the add UI slides up. I have got all this working great so far. My Problem is what happens when the user taps Done. I can add the website to the plist (each website is a dictionary in the plist with 2 keys, atm) But then how do I tell the tableView to update? The table view has not been removed from the main window, just the add view has been added on top of the "screen". Another way of asking is, when you tap Save on Add a Contact screen: (not my image) How does the new contact's data (Xyz's data) get shown on the tableview?

• Naming conventions and field naming question for CakePHP

  Okay so two questions very related: 1) Does following the naming convention for classes, controllers, database fields, etc. affect the framework's ability to work the way it was intended? (I'm a little new to working with a framework from the beginning of app development) 2) This question is more important if 1 is a yes. Say I have a table, A, that has 2 foreign keys pointing at the same table, B, but different entries (they're like edges of a graph that point at two vertices) how would I follow the naming convention of their database fields? All I can think to do is something like vertex_1_id and vertex_2_id but I don't know how the framework would handle that if the naming conventions are necessary for its functioning correctly.

• How to stop event bubbling with jquery live?

  Hi I am trying to stop some events but stopPropagation does not work with "live" so I am not sure what to do. I found this on their site. Live events do not bubble in the traditional manner and cannot be stopped using stopPropagation or stopImmediatePropagation. For example, take the case of two click events - one bound to "li" and another "li a". Should a click occur on the inner anchor BOTH events will be triggered. This is because when a $("li").bind("click", fn); is bound you're actually saying "Whenever a click event occurs on an LI element - or inside an LI element - trigger this click event." To stop further processing for a live event, fn must return false It says that fn must return false so what I tried to do $('.MoreAppointments').live('click', function(e) { alert("Hi"); return false; }); but that did not work so I am not sure how to make it return false. Update Here is some more information. I have a table cell and I bind a click event to it. $('#CalendarBody .DateBox').click(function(e) { AddApointment(this); }); So the AddApointment just makes some ui dialog box. Now the live code(MoreAppointments) sits in this table cell and is basically an anchor tag. So when I click on the anchor tag it first goes to the above code(addApointment - so runs that event first) runs that but does not launch my dialog box instead it goes straight to the (MoreAppointment) event and runs that code. Once that code has run it launches the dialog box from "addApointment". Update 2 Here is some of the html. • SSRS: Master-detail report with two datasources

  I have two local data sources that I can push into the report. Works no problem. But how do I set up the report? One data source contains a list of employees, and info about them. The other contains a bunch of working hours for each employee. I would like to use a table for the list of employees, and then have another table for the working hours beneath each employee (with their working hours). Is this even possible? Do I have to use a Sub-Report? Would I have to merge them into one datasource? =/

• how to use Foreign key in L2E or EF?

  I have a User table which has a PrivilegeId foreign key points to a Privilege table and is the primary key there. In Entity Framework, the VS will not generate a PrivilegeId variable under Users for you. It will generate a Privilege property and PrivilegeReference property for you instead. When I load a User, the Privilege property is null by default. That means EF does not load refered entity for you automatically. I think I may did something wrong? I cannot load Privilege separatedly because I have no info about the Privilege at that time. I guess EF should load the refered entities for me but I missed something. anybody can help me?

You can see the banner going to far left and the navigation links have a huge gap in between. How to set this? • Using PHP/MySQL with Google Maps

  Hiya, I followed this tutorial below http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlajax_v3.html#outputxml I ran into trouble, near then end, I am hoping someone else here has got this working and can help me discover my problem. Simply there are 4 steps to this tutorial Creating the Table Populating the Table Outputting XML with PHP Creating the Map I successfully have completed all the steps, however the outputted xml isn't read by the google map I created. The files are all on the same directory, and I didn't change any of the file names from the tutorial. The tutorial has a step to test if the php file called phpsqlajax_genxml.php is outputting the xml and I successfully tested it and it was. The problem is that the map isn't rendering the items I have in the database, that should be converted to xml for the map to read. Any help, or pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

• suggestions for Membership in ASP.NET MVC application

  With this question I am mostly looking for answers from people that have implemented the out-of-the-box ASP.NET membership in their own database - I've set up the tables inside my database and as far as I can see they contain mostly what I need but not everything. I will have the notion of a Firm (Company) to which Users will belong so I will have to associate the aspnet_Users with my Firms table (each user will be a member of exactly one firm). If possible, provide some guidelines how did you do it and what I might run into if I have to modify the table design at some point in the future. Preferably I will be using the default Membership provider. I am having trouble to decide whether to go from scratch or use what ASP.NET already offers.

I can't figure out how to build a query to do that. Since the name can come from one of the two tables, it seems quite difficult to me. Any help is really appreciated!

• How to avoid using duplicate savepoint names in nested transactions in nested stored procs?

  I have a pattern that I almost always follow, where if I need to wrap up an operation in a transaction, I do this: BEGIN TRANSACTION SAVE TRANSACTION TX -- Stuff IF @error <> 0 ROLLBACK TRANSACTION TX COMMIT TRANSACTION That's served me well enough in the past, but after years of using this pattern (and copy-pasting the above code), I've suddenly discovered a flaw which comes as a complete shock. Quite often, I'll have a stored procedure calling other stored procedures, all of which use this same pattern. What I've discovered (to my cost) is that because I'm using the same savepoint name everywhere, I can get into a situation where my outer transaction is partially committed - precisely the opposite of the atomicity that I'm trying to achieve. I've put together an example that exhibits the problem. This is a single batch (no nested stored procs), and so it looks a little odd in that you probably wouldn't use the same savepoint name twice in the same batch, but my real-world scenario would be too confusing to post. CREATE TABLE Test (test INTEGER NOT NULL) BEGIN TRAN SAVE TRAN TX BEGIN TRAN SAVE TRAN TX INSERT INTO Test(test) VALUES (1) COMMIT TRAN TX BEGIN TRAN SAVE TRAN TX INSERT INTO Test(test) VALUES (2) COMMIT TRAN TX DELETE FROM Test ROLLBACK TRAN TX COMMIT TRAN TX SELECT * FROM Test DROP TABLE Test When I execute this, it lists one record, with value "1". In other words, even though I rolled back my outer transaction, a record was added to the table. What's happening is that the ROLLBACK TRANSACTION TX at the outer level is rolling back as far as the last SAVE TRANSACTION TX at the inner level. Now that I write this all out, I can see the logic behind it: the server is looking back through the log file, treating it as a linear stream of transactions; it doesn't understand the nesting/hierarchy implied by either the nesting of the transactions (or, in my real-world scenario, by the calls to other stored procedures). So, clearly, I need to start using unique savepoint names instead of blindly using "TX" everywhere. But - and this is where I finally get to the point - is there a way to do this in a copy-pastable way so that I can still use the same code everywhere? Can I auto-generate the savepoint name on the fly somehow? Is there a convention or best-practice for doing this sort of thing? It's not exactly hard to come up with a unique name every time you start a transaction (could base it off the SP name, or somesuch), but I do worry that eventually there would be a conflict - and you wouldn't know about it because rather than causing an error it just silently destroys your data... :-(

However, when I retrieve the details, I keep finding that the last two guest details are always the same even though different inputs were given.   Hi, Each node have CCK-3-dev multigroup with 3 fields. Can I use one of fields as table header? Values of this field are taken from Taxonomy. With a simple recipe example, where food Z and Y are 2 nodes with recipes and each node has multigroup with ingredient name (milk, fish), amount (numbers) and unit (g, kg). Is there a way to create a table like this with views, I want to use views calc to calculate total amount of ingredient needed to prepare multiple recipes: Ingredient A Ingredient B Ingredient C Food Z 200 g 700 g 0 g Food Y 500 g 1000 g 50 g I don't even need units by number, but that would be good too. Anyways, how do I get this?

• General monitoring for SQL Server Analysis Services using Performance Monitor

  A recent customer engagement required a setup of a monitoring solution for SSAS, due to the time restrictions placed upon this, native Windows Performance Monitor (Perfmon) and SQL Server Profiler Monitoring Tools was used as using a third party tool would have meant the customer providing an additional monitoring server that was not available.I wanted to outline the performance monitoring counters that was used to monitor the system on which SSAS was running. Due to the slow query performance that was occurring during certain scenarios, perfmon was used to establish if any pressure was being placed on the Disk, CPU or Memory subsystem when concurrent connections access the same query, and Profiler to pinpoint how the query was being managed within SSAS, profiler I will leave for another blogThis guide is not designed to provide a definitive list of what should be used when monitoring SSAS, different situations may require the addition or removal of counters as presented by the situation. However I hope that it serves as a good basis for starting your monitoring of SSAS. I would also like to acknowledge Chris Webb’s awesome chapters from “Expert Cube Development” that also helped shape my monitoring strategy:http://cwebbbi.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!7B84B0F2C239489A!6657.entrySimulating ConnectionsTo simulate the additional connections to the SSAS server whilst monitoring, I used ascmd to simulate multiple connections to the typical and worse performing queries that were identified by the customer. A similar sript can be downloaded from codeplex at http://www.codeplex.com/SQLSrvAnalysisSrvcs.     File name: ASCMD_StressTestingScripts.zip. Performance MonitorWithin performance monitor,  a counter log was created that contained the list of counters below. The important point to note when running the counter log is that the RUN AS property within the counter log properties should be changed to an account that has rights to the SSAS instance when monitoring MSAS counters. Failure to do so means that the counter log runs under the system account, no errors or warning are given while running the counter log, and it is not until you need to view the MSAS counters that they will not be displayed if run under the default account that has no right to SSAS. If your connection simulation takes hours, this could prove quite frustrating if not done beforehand JThe counters used……  Object Counter Instance Justification System Processor Queue legnth N/A Indicates how many threads are waiting for execution against the processor. If this counter is consistently higher than around 5 when processor utilization approaches 100%, then this is a good indication that there is more work (active threads) available (ready for execution) than the machine's processors are able to handle. System Context Switches/sec N/A Measures how frequently the processor has to switch from user- to kernel-mode to handle a request from a thread running in user mode. The heavier the workload running on your machine, the higher this counter will generally be, but over long term the value of this counter should remain fairly constant. If this counter suddenly starts increasing however, it may be an indicating of a malfunctioning device, especially if the Processor\Interrupts/sec\(_Total) counter on your machine shows a similar unexplained increase Process % Processor Time sqlservr Definately should be used if Processor\% Processor Time\(_Total) is maxing at 100% to assess the effect of the SQL Server process on the processor Process % Processor Time msmdsrv Definately should be used if Processor\% Processor Time\(_Total) is maxing at 100% to assess the effect of the SQL Server process on the processor Process Working Set sqlservr If the Memory\Available bytes counter is decreaing this counter can be run to indicate if the process is consuming larger and larger amounts of RAM. Process(instance)\Working Set measures the size of the working set for each process, which indicates the number of allocated pages the process can address without generating a page fault. Process Working Set msmdsrv If the Memory\Available bytes counter is decreaing this counter can be run to indicate if the process is consuming larger and larger amounts of RAM. Process(instance)\Working Set measures the size of the working set for each process, which indicates the number of allocated pages the process can address without generating a page fault. Processor % Processor Time _Total and individual cores measures the total utilization of your processor by all running processes. If multi-proc then be mindful only an average is provided Processor % Privileged Time _Total To see how the OS is handling basic IO requests. If kernel mode utilization is high, your machine is likely underpowered as it's too busy handling basic OS housekeeping functions to be able to effectively run other applications. Processor % User Time _Total To see how the applications is interacting from a processor perspective, a high percentage utilisation determine that the server is dealing with too many apps and may require increasing thje hardware or scaling out Processor Interrupts/sec _Total  The average rate, in incidents per second, at which the processor received and serviced hardware interrupts. Shoulr be consistant over time but a sudden unexplained increase could indicate a device malfunction which can be confirmed using the System\Context Switches/sec counter Memory Pages/sec N/A Indicates the rate at which pages are read from or written to disk to resolve hard page faults. This counter is a primary indicator of the kinds of faults that cause system-wide delays, this is the primary counter to watch for indication of possible insufficient RAM to meet your server's needs. A good idea here is to configure a perfmon alert that triggers when the number of pages per second exceeds 50 per paging disk on your system. May also want to see the configuration of the page file on the Server Memory Available Mbytes N/A is the amount of physical memory, in bytes, available to processes running on the computer. if this counter is greater than 10% of the actual RAM in your machine then you probably have more than enough RAM. monitor it regularly to see if any downward trend develops, and set an alert to trigger if it drops below 2% of the installed RAM. Physical Disk Disk Transfers/sec for each physical disk If it goes above 10 disk I/Os per second then you've got poor response time for your disk. Physical Disk Idle Time _total If Disk Transfers/sec is above  25 disk I/Os per second use this counter. which measures the percent time that your hard disk is idle during the measurement interval, and if you see this counter fall below 20% then you've likely got read/write requests queuing up for your disk which is unable to service these requests in a timely fashion. Physical Disk Disk queue legnth For the OLAP and SQL physical disk A value that is consistently less than 2 means that the disk system is handling the IO requests against the physical disk Network Interface Bytes Total/sec For the NIC Should be monitored over a period of time to see if there is anb increase/decrease in network utilisation Network Interface Current Bandwidth For the NIC is an estimate of the current bandwidth of the network interface in bits per second (BPS). MSAS 2005: Memory Memory Limit High KB N/A Shows (as a percentage) the high memory limit configured for SSAS in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Config\msmdsrv.ini MSAS 2005: Memory Memory Limit Low KB N/A Shows (as a percentage) the low memory limit configured for SSAS in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Config\msmdsrv.ini MSAS 2005: Memory Memory Usage KB N/A Displays the memory usage of the server process. MSAS 2005: Memory File Store KB N/A Displays the amount of memory that is reserved for the Cache. I basically have a string of HTML, I convert that to a JQuery DOM object so that I can easily remove all elements that have a certain class using JQuery's .remove().   As a learning exercise I'm trying to put myself a blogging system. The goal is to code something that will let me create multiple blogs, like blogger.com or wordpress.com, but much simplified. I would like to ask you, what do you think is best database design for this type of script. Is it better to have one big table, containing posts from all blogs of all users (like friendfeed) or would it be better to create separate table for each blog's posts? • Service broker with SqlNotificationRequest

  I am in the process of evaluating a Service Broker with SQL noticiation for my project. My requirements is User places a order from System A and it will update Order Table. As soon as order is place i need to notify the System B. I have done a quick POC with Trigger , Service Broker and SQLNotificaiton ADO.NET. It is working as i expected. What i would like to know the group A) What are the best practices i need to follow for this? B) What are disadvantages with the above approach if any? C) Are there any disadvantes of using the Triggers? If so what are those for above approach? The order table will get order from System A like 1000 to 1500 every day. I also would like to know the performance of above approach.

• MySQLi PHP: Check if SQL INSERT query was fully successful using MySQLi

  Hi, I have this big function that gets a lot of different data and insert it into multiple tables.. Not all the data is always available so not all the SQL INSERT queries are successful. I need to check which SQL INSERT query was fully successful and which wasn't to the do something with this data (like inserting into a log table or similar). Just to give you an example of how I think it can be done: $sql = 'INSERT INTO data_table (ID, column1, column2) VALUES(?, ?, ?)'; if ($stmt->prepare($sql)) { $stmt->bind_param('iss', $varID, $var1, $var2); if ($stmt->execute()) { $success == TRUE; //or something like that } } I'm not completely sure this is the best way and if its always really show if the data was inserted into the table... Any suggestions??

  Hello, I have been told that I should add a sidebar to one page of this .net project, but the master page don't include a sidebar. How can I add a sidebar to one page only ?
