• MVC Partial View to Call Display Pop-up window using jquery

  Hi I have a index page the renders objects from my database as a treeview, each item has a link href="/MessageGroupType/Edit/1002 that makes an Ajax call to display a partial view in a DIV. Within the partial view there is a delete button which calls my controller to delete the item. However, i do a check to make sure the item can be deleted, if the item cant be deleted then i wish a pop-up to appear back on the edit form telling the user they cant delete this record. In my Edit partial view i have the following code " type="text/javascript" $(function() { $("#dialog").dialog(); }); <% if (Boolean.Parse(ViewData["DisplayWindow"].ToString())){% This Mesage group Type Cannot be deleted as is linked to other message group Types <% }% So my main questions are Can i make a reference to a javascript script within my Partial View (i dont want my master page to be called on the partial view) When i dynamically load the partial view data into my DIV - can i then after calling my controller insert another DIV into the first DIV. I am i doing this the wrong way - so any pointers is appreciated Cheers

PlaygroundEntities context = new PlaygroundEntities(); Person p = new Person { Status = PersonStatus.Alive, BirthDate = new DateTime(1982,3,18), Name = "Joe Smith" }; context.AddToPeople(p); context.SaveChanges(); When i run this code i get the following error The conversion of a datetime2 data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.\r\nThe statement has been terminated. So i tried setting the StoreGeneratedPattern to computed... same thing, then identity... same thing. Any ideas?

• Entity Framework 4 mapping fragment error when adding new entity scalar

  I have an Entity Framework 4 model-first design. I create a first draft of my model in the designer and all was well. I compiled, generated database, etc. Later on I tried to add a string scalar (Nullable = true) to one of my existing entities and I keep getting this type of error when I compile: Error 3004: Problem in mapping fragments starting at line 569: No mapping specified for properties MyEntity.MyValue in Set MyEntities. An Entity with Key (PK) will not round-trip when: Entity is type [MyEntities.MyEntity] I keep having to manually open the EDMX file and correct the XML whenever I add scalars. Ideas on what's going on?

• CS1685 Warning causes a CS0433 error when targeting 3.5 in VS2010

  I have a 2010 project that is targeting .NET v3.5. It was working fine until I started to mess with configurations a bit and now I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. The project doesn't have ANY references added. It won't even let me add a reference to System.Core as it is added by the 'build system'. warning CS1685: The predefined type 'System.Func' is defined in multiple assemblies in the global alias; using definition from 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' IFilter.cs(82,49): error CS0433: The type 'System.Func' exists in both 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Reference Assemblies\Microsoft\Framework\v3.5\System.Core.dll' and 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\mscorlib.dll' Looks like something is grabbing onto 4.0 but I'm not quite sure how to fix it. Any one else run into this?

• Log4net RollingFileAppender Size rollingStyle file extension

  I am using the RollingFileAppender and the Size rollingStyle. By default it creates backup files with a numbered extension, this drives me nuts. Is it possible to change it so it always uses a defined extension (say .txt or .log) and inserts the number as part of the file name.   HI, I've surprisingly found problems, in Chrome browser, in calling window parent javascript functions. If I have a window with a javascript function defined in it <script type="text/javascript"> function dolink() { . . . } </script> and I have an iframe inside that window that makes this call using jquery <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('a.arglink').click(function() { window.parent.dolink($(this).attr('href')); return false; }); }); </script> the call to dolink function doesn't work. Stepping with chrome javascript debugger, it appears that window.parent.dolink is undefined. It's by design or a mistake that I made? In Firefox and IE it works fine.

• Why won't this Apache modrewrite RewriteRule work?

  I'm trying to get Apache mod rewrite to work on my local machine. I'm running OSX with PHP 5 and the Apache mod rewrite module is enabled. I have a directory called localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin with various PHP includes called based on a $_GET variable. I want to let users type (in theory) localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages and have that URL stay in the address bar, while what gets displayed is localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/?admin=pages So. I've created a .htaccess file that sits in the /hfh directory. Inside, I've put this mod rewrite text: RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^admin/([^/.]+)/?$ admin/?admin=$1 [L] When I go to the browser and type localhost/~Jason/hfh/admin/pages I get a "Problem loading page" error, and Firefox says, "Oops. Firefox can't load this page for some reason." Can anyone help me figure this out? I have such a hard time with regex and mod rewrite...

  I have a visual studio 2008 Unit test and I'm getting the following runtime error: Unable to set TestContext property for the class JMPS.PlannerSuite.DataServices.MyUnitTest. Error: System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestTypes.Unit.UnitTestAdapterContext' cannot be converted to type 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting.TestContext' I have read that VS 2008 does not properly update the references to the UnitTestFramework when converting 2005 projects. My unit test was created in 2008 but it inherits from a base class built in VS 2005. Is this where my problem is coming from? Does my base class have to be rebuilt in 2008? I would rather not do this as it will affect other projects. In other derived unit tests built in 2005, all that we needed to do was comment out the TestContext property in the derived unit test. I have tried this in the VS 2008 unit test with no luck. I have also tried to "new" the TestContext property which gives me a different runtime error. Any ideas?

It seems to be related to the projections, but I am unsure about the best way to resolve.   I have created Passbooks and they are loaded onto my customer's iOS devices. I need to update these Passbooks. According to the Passbook docs you need to use the Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) to trigger a pull from the iOS device in order to update the Passbook. This APNS push consists of a "push token" and a "pass type id." However, the APNS body is to be left empty. The APNS docs talk about a "device token" needed to send a push notification but make no mention of a "push token." Is an APNS "device token" the same as a Passbook "push token"? How do I send the Passbook "pass type id" in my APNS push?

• WPF: Menu Items only bind command parameters once.

  Ive noticed this a couple of times when using menus with commands, they are not very dynamic, check this out. I am creating a menu from a collection of colours, I use it to colour a column in a datagrid. Anyway when i first bring up the menu (its a context menu) the command parameter binding happens and it binds to the column that the context menu was opened on. However the next time i bring it up it seems wpf caches the menu and it doesnt rebind the command parameter. so i can set the colour only on the initial column that the context menu appeared on. • "Metadata information not found" while using EF4's POCO Template?

  I just installed the POCO Template for EF4. I have a single entity in my model, AnnouncementText, and the T4 files seem to be properly generated. Attempting to access this new entity is throwing the following error when I access the auto-generated property MyObjectContext.AnnouncementTexts: InvalidOperationException: Mapping and metadata information could not be found for EntityType 'MyNamespace.AnnouncementText'. The properties on the AnnouncementText POCO seem to match up with the columns in the database, and I haven't changed any of the auto-generated code. The stack trace is: at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.GetTypeUsage(Type entityCLRType) at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.GetEntitySetForNameAndType(String entitySetName, Type entityCLRType, String exceptionParameterName) at System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext.CreateObjectSet[TEntity](String entitySetName) at MyNamespace.MyObjectContext.get_AnnouncementTexts() in C:\<snip>\MyObjectContext.Context.cs:line 65 at MyNamespace.Class1.Main() in C:\<snip>\Class1.cs:line 14 If I delete the .tt files from the solution and enable code generation on the model, I am able to access the property without issue.   We're trying to work out a deployment strategy for an internal tool that we're creating. It's a control that uses a set of 3rd party libraries to communication with a specific type of server. So I have a class library built that uses these libraries. I was looking to deploy a silverlight application that uses our library, which in turn uses a set of 3rd party libraries. When trying to reference the 3rd party libraries, I get the "library can not be referenced because it was not built as a silverlight library". The type of project I'm trying to build is a silverlight application - not a dll library or anything else. Is it possible to create a silverlight application using libraries created outside of silverlight?

  Hi, In my ASP.NET MVC app I am rendering out a checkbox using the following code: <%= Html.CheckBoxFor(i=>i.ReceiveRSVPNotifications) %> Now I see that this renders both the checkbox input tag and a hidden input tag. The problem that I am having is when I try retrieve the value from the checkbox using the FormCollection: FormValues["ReceiveRSVPNotifications"] I get the value "true,false". When looking at the rendered out HTML I can see the following: <input id="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" name="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" value="true" type="checkbox"> <input name="ReceiveRSVPNotifications" value="false" type="hidden"> So the FormValues collection seems to join these two values since they have the same name. Any Ideas?
