Is there an open source project that allows for an auto-update of windows binaries? The Luau update library is very similar to what I'm looking for but it was abandoned in 2005.
hey all,
I have to make a SMS sending application in .NET which uses a connected CDMA based Windows mobile 6.1 device to send sms. The problem is I have never worked on smartphone app development so don't have any idea about how should i go about it. Couldn't find anything useful on SO or elsewhere, so please guide me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance to all those who reply.
P.S.:I posted a similar question regarding blackberry here
On OS X I use this command to convert a sound file to CAFF for iPhone.
afconvert -f caff -d LEI16@44100 file.wav file.caf
I need to do the same on a Windows box.
Any clues?
I'd even settle for a Linux version.
I'm thinking about getting a small touchscreen to work with the Windows Phone 7 emulator... but will the developers tools support multi-touch from a touchscreen? I've only seen it with single mouse clicks so far...
I'm essentially looking to monitor a USB port input for whatever happens when the optical mouse detects its own movement and turns itself on. These mice usually have a dim red light when in "standby" mode and then the red light becomes brighter once you start moving it around.
I want to use Visual Basic or something else native to the Windows environment to open an exe file or play a wav sound or call a bat file when the mouse "wakes up".
Any suggestions or pushes in the right direction are appreciated.
Are there any programs or way to get a specific icon or any icon for that matter into a minimized window?
The reason why I ask is that I hate having 3 or more windows of the same program minimized on my taskbar using the same icon. When I want to open up the program i'm not sure which window to activate.
-edit
I'm asking for a program to do this for me, not a programming technique
Is it possible to tell Ruby in Windows to use only \n instead of r\n?
I'm having an issue where a file is being saved with \r\n and it is causing it to not function properly. Is there a setting somewhere I can change to fix this?
I use Subversion via TortoiseSVN but I hear good things about Git.
Are there any similar tools available for Git on Windows?
Feel free to answer with tools which still in early development.
Is it possible to get the currently logged in user's username with Silverlight? You can assume that user has Windows OS and the Silverlight application is hosted in Internet Explorer. Getting the identity from server side with ASP.NET is not an option, this SL application will be hosted on a static HTML file.
I want to write .bat script which works under all flavours of Windows, no matter if 32 or 64 bit.
In this script I want to run some file.exe. That file is located in C:\Program Files\ under 32-bit systems or C:\Program FIles (x86)\ under x64 systems. I can write:
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\file.exe" under 64bit systems
or
"%ProgramFiles%\file.exe" under 32bit systems
but I want to make the script universal. Is there any way of determining that path universally?
I sometime use the very simple but effective svncommitmonitor,
http://tools.tortoisesvn.net/CommitMonitor
to monitor activity. It's easy to see in the sys tray on a windows box and I've become used to it by now.
So, is there a similar/identical tool for CVS. Some googling and to my surprise I couldn't find one.
Any tips?
Hi,
I am very interested in learning windows shell programming. So...I searched for books on the amazon.com. I see that books on the amazon.com are out of date. Most of books are published before 2005. I googled about it and found many tips and tricks, but not step by step guide.
Where do I get started?
I have been looking for a way of modifying static strings stored in Windows .exe files in the .rdata section, however I haven't found a real way to do so yet.
The whole thing is too complicated to do by hand (in this case by a HEX editor) and so I wanted to know if you have a solution to do so.
I had to get a new machine recently. It is Windows 7, loaded with Studio 2008, with Framework 3.5 sp1. When I load pre-existing projects that use the Entity Framework, the projects don't recognize the .edmx files. Any ideas?
I have a Java program that opens a file using the RandomAccessFile class.
I'd like to be able to rename that file while it is opened by Java. In Unix, this isn't a problem. Does anyone know how I can do this in Windows?
Should I set Java to open it a certain way?
Thanks in advance.

Ideally I would love to find an exist solution that simple and able to solve my task.
Do you know any solutions for this issue?
We have developed a application for HTC HD2 mobile, which has windows 7 CE.
I have designed application to work for both the orientation (portrait, landscape)
Now I wanted to achieve auto screen rotation (portrait to landscape and landscape to portrait) according to the device movement (some thing like iPhone).
Can i able to achieve it? if yes how can I? It will be appreciable if you provide me link or sample code.
Hello, I've got the following question:
Is it possible te disable everything in windows except the program it's running?
I need to program an application on a touchscreen (fullscreen), where people can fill in a survey.
The only thing they should use is this program. (for protection of the survey anwsers and other secret stuff :p )
And the program should be closed when entering the right password.
So how can I disable everything else but the program I'm running?
Thanks
What's needed:
To move several directories between two Windows 2008 servers on a regular basis.
Due to security requirements, neither server is supposed to have network shares set up or extraneous software installed.
What's available:
Administrator access to both machines (including remote desktop access if that helps).
A third machine with:
Visual Studio 2010
Cygwin
Bonus extras
The script that does the rest of the work (apart from moving the files) is currently written in F#, but any .net/command line based solution would be fine.
I need to script the conversion of some WMV files to a DVD-Video ISO file suitable for burning and viewing on a Windows system - does anyone have a simple solution that doesn't involve chaining together calls to ffmpeg and pegging my system CPU?
