• Apache configuration to access directory

  I'm on Ubuntu 9.10. My web application is in a directory on my /home/me/app . I want to configure Apache in such a way that I can access my app through a directory. For example: People can access my machine through domain.com. What I would like to do is access my web application (located at /home/me/app) through a directory, using something like: domain.com/myapp. How can I set up the apache configuration for this kind of behavior? Of course, I do not want to move all my application to /var/www/myapp. Thanks

• Diamond-square terrain generation problem

  From a SEO point of view, is it wise to use exactly the same page title value and keyword/description meta tag values not only as meta information, but also as page content? • Mac and windows 7 file sharing specific user

  Hi guys, I try to share a specific directory to my windows 7 computer, but I want it to use a specific user that I created on my mac to connect to it. I saw this tutorial: http://www.trickyways.com/2010/06/how-to-access-mac-files-from-windows-7/ wich is exactly what I want to do, but it ain't working. For some reason, it never prompts me for username/password when I try to connect on my mac when I'm on Windows 7. On top of that, when I set the permission "No Access" to the "Everyone" user on my mac, my windows computer simply don't see the directory. If I set the permission to "Read/Write" or "Read only" it works. I simply don't want that everyone in my workgroup to be able to read my files. I want to create specific users on my mac and share them to the persons I want... Any thoughts?

• Oracle licensing /pricing ?

  Question: I'd like to download Oracle 11g database for evaluation purposes. Now I found this link for downloads: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html But it says one must register 'for accessing premium contents'. But in the same time, it looks like one can download the full database for free. But surely, Oracle doesn't give it for free, but in the registration, there's no mention of any cost/fees, or any billing address. Is this registration free, or as 'premium' suggests, will you get a bill for it if you do (supposed you enter true data) ? Or how does Oracle handle licensing/payment ? I can not see any price tag there anywhere, nor any information on it on that registration page.

• Try out ubuntu on thinkpad x40 (via usb)?

  I am trying to try out ubuntu (i,e, install it within windows) on my thinkpad x40. I followed the instructions on how to create a bootable usb (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download). No problem. The issue I have now is that th eusb ports on my x40 were burned before (common problem with the machine), i.e. do not work. So I got a USB notebook card from belkin. However it does not seem to recognize the usb stick from bios, thus I cannot boot from it. I also do not have a cd rom. Then tried to run wubi from the usb stick, briefly appears in task manager, no further action. So I tried it with wubi.exe, but same thing. Downloaded it to desktop, run it, briefly appears in the task manager under processes, no further action. Any one idea? I have enough memory and enough freed hd space. Thanks. Oliver

• ASP.NET MVC 2 from Scratch &ndash; Part 1 Listing Data from Database

  Part 1 - Listing Data from Database: Let us now learn ASP.NET MVC 2 from Scratch by actually developing a front end website for the Chinook database, which is an alternative to the traditional Northwind database. You can get the Chinook database from here. As always the best way to learn something is by working on it and doing something. The Chinook database has the following schema, a quick look will help us implementing the application in a efficient way. Let us first implement a grid view table with the list of Employees with some details, this table also has the Details, Edit and Delete buttons on it to do some operations. This is series of post will concentrate on creating a simple CRUD front end for Chinook DB using ASP.NET MVC 2. In this post, we will look at listing all the possible Employees in the database in a tabular format, from which, we can then edit and delete them as required. In this post, we will concentrate on setting up our environment and then just designing a page to show a tabular information from the database. We need to first setup the SQL Server database, you can download the required version and then set it up in your localhost. Then we need to add the LINQ to SQL Classes required for us to enable interaction with our database. Now after you do the above step, just use your Server Explorer in VS 2010 to actually navigate to the database, expand the tables node and then drag drop all the tables onto the Object Relational Designer space and you go you will have the tables visualized as classes. As simple as that. Now for the purpose of displaying the data from Employee in a table, we will show only the EmployeeID, Firstname and lastname. So let us create a class to hold this information. So let us add a new class called EmployeeList to the ViewModels. We will send this data model to the View and this can be displayed in the page. public class EmployeeList { public int EmployeeID { get; set; } public string Firstname { get; set; } public string Lastname { get; set; } public EmployeeList(int empID, string fname, string lname) { this.EmployeeID = empID; this.Firstname = fname; this.Lastname = lname; } } Ok now we have got the backend ready. Let us now look at the front end view now. We will first create a master called Site.Master and reuse it across the site. In the actual Index.aspx view, we add the code to simply iterate through the collection of EmployeeList that was sent to the View via the Controller. So in the top of the Index.aspx view, we have this inherits which says Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<IEnumerable<ChinookMvcSample.ViewModels.EmployeeList>>" In this above line, we dictate that the page is consuming a IEnumerable collection of EmployeeList. So once we specify this and compile the project. Here we are adding the id=”links” to the hyperlinks that is created in the page. In the index.aspx page, we add some jQuery stuff add alternate row colours and highlight colours for rows on mouse over. Now the Controller that handles the requests and directs the request to the right view. • Why do I see router and not my real IIS?

  I am trying to access IIS through web but unable to do so. Basically I have a router (which functions as router and modem) that is given by ISP and I have another router connected to the router given by ISP. My ISP's router can be visited through 192.168.0.1 and the router that I connected to ISP's router can be visited through 192.168.1.1 Please see my ISP's router: As you can see I have DMZ enabled for my router of 192.168.1.1 Now please see my router of 192.168.1.1: As you can see I added a virtual server for port 80 where 192.168.1.125 is my private IP. I rebooted both of my modems an tried to visit my IP from: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ and after doing so, when I type my live IP I still see my router of 192.168.0.1 instead of my IIS. What am I missing? Note: I have disabled Firewall on both of the routers. Any help would be appreciated.

It really is the best IDE on the market. There is so much to this IDE it is amazing. It now can really handle managing your complete software application development lifecycle. For me, it is (besides Windows 7) the best and most successful product Microsoft has developed. You can obviously get this now and it is available on MSDN and some other places: MSDN Visual Studio Trial Editions Visual Studio 2010 Express Editions (free) You will also find great info at the Visual Studio Developer Center. Some other interesting tidbits of info: JetBrain’s ReSharper 5.0 has been released for VS2010 Oracle will have the new Oracle Dev Tools for VS2010 within one month - http://bit.ly/9gC9NE Visual Studio 64-bit - Why there is no 64-bit version of VS - http://bit.ly/dhhwAj In installing this version of Visual Studio, if you have been working on the previous RC builds, then you are going to want to uninstall these previous editions of the 2010 product. You can do this through the Add Remove Programs dialog and you are going to want to select the appropriate item from the long list of Visual Studio items. You are then going to want to step through the Visual Studio dialog (it will seem as if you are installing it again) – and you will then come to a point where you can select the option to Uninstall the entire application. • Sharing Clipboard between non-networked PC's (KVM style)

  Hi! My situation is this: I have a PC which is joined to a domain, and another computer 'outside' that network. I'd like to use a KVM style device to switch between them, but sharing the clipboard would be fantastic. When searching for such a thing I found various patents for this type of thing (eg http://www.freepatentsonline.com/6901455.html) but can't see one actually for sale anywhere! Anyone know of one? Or an alternative suggestion - eg a program that uses USB or another method to connect two PC's and share clipboard without ethernet? Thanks!

La dimensione aziendale maggiormente rappresentata dai visitatori presenti è la media azienda produttrice del tessuto manifatturiero italiano.I giudizi espressi dai partecipanti che hanno compilato il questionario di feedback, raccontano di un’esperienza positiva sia in termini organizzativi che di contenuto delle relazioni proposte e del livello dei relatori.   I am trying to set up my own DNS server solaris 10, i used the setup guide from http://www.logiqwest.com/dataCenter/Demos/RunBooks/DNS/DNSsetup.html I tried to join windows xp clients to the domain i configured using the above guide but i was unable to join giving me these errors, An error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate adomain controller for domain MYDOMAIN.COM. The error was: "No records found for given DNS query." (error code 0x0000251D DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.MYDOMAIN.COM Where could i be going wrong? Your assistance will highly be appreciated

• ubuntu apache2 start, stop, status, restart and reload commands fails

  Hi, I am new to Ubuntu and I'm still trying to figure this OS out (for work it's brilliant, better than Windows). Before I wrote this question, I did my research via Google, this website and even in StackOverflow.com. Whatever error came up, I googled it but with no success on how to solve this. Back to the main point: I tried to install (lamp) apache2 with this guide (in German) and this one(in english). Then I got stuck at the start command (with which one is able to start the apache2 server), my first try to run the server was a success until i wrote sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 reload then it showed me an error: $ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 reload * Starting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/ports.conf: Invalid command 'oder', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Action 'reload' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. [fail] I didn't even write the word "oder" so I closed the shell and opened it anew. It showed the same error. After that, I've done some research and found out that my file (index.html (which is in my /var/www folder)), which I access via the browser, when I type in http://localhost should show up and tell that it was a success. So I removed apache2 and installed it again but now the following errors appear: $ sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start * Starting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/ports.conf: Invalid command 'oder', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Action 'start' failed. The Apache error log may have more information. [fail] And still, I didn't even write "oder" in the command. I appreciate every help I can get, further thanks and have a nice day.

• PHP cannot connect to AWS RDS server

  I have a EC2 Instance with apchane, PHP and phpmyadmin. I have connect phpmyadmin to manage the aws RDS server. they are in the same security group. But when i try to use a php script to connect to the AWS rds server, it gave me SQLSTATE[HY000] [2003] Can't connect to MySQL server on (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx). I did some researched, and most of them says use setsebool -P httpd_can_network_connect=1 reference: http://www.filonov.com/2009/08/07/sqlstatehy000-2003-cant-connect-to-mysql-server-on-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-13/ But i have no idea which server to configure? and how to?

• How do ring and bus network connect to router?

  Sorry this is probably a very silly question, but for some reason i am confused. How does a LAN with bus or ring topology connect to a router and other LANs? For example in a star network they all connect to a switch which can then connect to a router, but where does a switch go and fit in a bus or ring topology? In this image of a ring network there is no switch: http://www.brainbell.com/tutorials/Networking/images/01fig04.gif would the switch in the ring network simply be placed alongside the other nodes? • Remove IP address from the URL of website using apache

  I'm on an EC2 instance and have a domain domain.com linked to the EC2 nameservers and it happily is serving my pages if I type domain.com in the URL. However when the page is served it resolves the url to: 1.1.1.10/directory/page.php. Using apache I've set up the following VirtualHost, following examples provided at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/dns-caveats.html Listen 80 NameVirtualHost 1.1.1.10:80 <VirtualHost 1.1.1.10:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/directory ServerName domain.com # Other directives here ... <FilesMatch "\.(ico|pdf|flv|jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css|swf)$"> Header set Cache-Control "max-age=290304000, public" </FilesMatch> </VirtualHost> However I'm not getting any changes to how the URL is displayed. This is the only VirtualHost configured on this site and I've confirmed its the one being used as I've managed to break it a number of times whilst experimenting with the configuration.
