• OAuth2 Flow for Mobile Devices

  We're currently working on an API that will be consumed by a variety of different devices. We want to use the OAuth2 spec as it defines several flows which were not available in the original OAuth spec. My question is, what flow would work best for a mobile device such as the iPhone or iPad? What flow does an application like TweetDeck use? Looking around the web it seems clients like TweetDeck use the 'Username and Password Credentials Flow" (browserless token exchange). Can anyone provide more information on this topic?

For browser applications, this happens automatically by the browser, for non browser applications, it is pretty trivial to save the cookie and send it with each request. However, I have not figured out a good approach for doing the initial handshake from browser applications. For example, if this is all happening using a AJAX technique, what prevents the user from being able to access the ID/Pass the client is using to handshake with the service? It seem's like this is the only stumbling block to this approach and I'm stumped.

• Push notifications work for Ad Hoc, but not when downloaded from the Apple store.

  My app just got approved for the apple store. I downloaded it an installed it on my iPhone - but it looks like push notifications are broken! I was successfully testing push notifications in production using an adHoc provisioning profile. I had no problems. The only thing I did differently when I submitted to apple was using an app store distribution profile. The application never asks me (or anyone else who has downloaded it) if I want to receive push notifications. Consequently, the phone never talks to my server to send the push token (because application:didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken: is presumably never called). Also the application does not appear in the settings app under the notification settings. What could I be doing wrong??

• Errors/warnings passing int/char arrays by reference

  I'm working on a program where I try to pass parameters by reference. I'm trying to pass a 2D int array and a 1D char array by reference. Function prototype: void foo (int* (&a)[2][2], char* (&b)[4]) Function call: foo (a, b); However, when I compile the code with -ansi and -Wall flags on gcc, I get the following errors: foo.c: At top level: error: expected ‘)’ before ‘&’ token error: expected ‘;’, ‘,’ or ‘)’ before ‘char’ foo.c: In function ‘main’: error: too many arguments to function ‘foo’ I've stripped out the rest of the code of my program and concentrated on the bits which throw up the errors. I've searched around on StackOverflow and tried out different ways to pass the parameters, but none of them seem to work. (I took this way of passing parameters from the discussion on StackOverflow here.) Could you please tell me where I'm going wrong?

• How to prevent popups when loading a keystore

  Hi as corollary to this question I wanted to ask if you know how to prevent the poping of dialogue either to ask for password or to ask to insert a certificate. We are currently building a system where we have to use the windows keystore to get certificates that are stored on USB token containing both reader and certificate. Unlike the original question we do not experience problems when loading the keystore but when we are accessing it. If there is only a single certificate in the keystore no problem, we get the appropriate password popup at the appropriate time and that's it. However if a second USB key gets inserted in the system and later removed the entry remains in the keystore and from then-on every time we try to access information in the keystore we get a popup to insert the key. This occurs for every certificates in the store for which the key is not currently connected to the computer. The system we are interfacing with that requires these certificates necessitates that we perform multiple cryptographic operations and to have these popups to come up every times is rather annoying to say the least.

• Mandatory profile on Terminal server fails to load. Userenv.log debug

  Hi, We're having a lot of corrupted profiles lately on our profile share. At the moment I have no clue why, but I decided to switch to one mandatory profile since the users can all use the same and there is no need to have seperate profiles for each user. Here's what I did. I logged into the Terminal server with a new user and configured some stuff (imported certificates and a few files). Then I logged out. Later as admin I copied the profile to another server and renamed it to bsilo. I made sure the user hive settings were adjusted. Everyone had access to the hive. I shared the bsilo folder with full access for everyone. I set the NTFS permissions to read, read & execute, list folder contents for domain users. I also renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN. Now I set a env variable %manprofile% on the Terminal server that points to \server\bsilo\ntuser.man I set the env var as terminal services profile path for a test user. When I log in I as the user get the following output The system cannot find the path specified. Can somebody point me in the right direction. • XQuery - problem with recursive function

  Hi all, Im new on this project and am going to write, what i thought was a simple thing. A recursive function that writes nested xml elements in x levels (denoted by a variable). So far I have come up with this, but keeps getting a compile error. • Can I connect to SQL Server using Windows Authentication from Java EE webapp?

  I am currently investigating how to make a connection to a SQL Server database from my Java EE web application using Windows Authentication instead of SQL Server authentication. I am running this app off of Tomcat 6.0, and am utilizing the Microsoft JDBC driver. My connection properties file looks as follows: dbDriver = com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver dbUser = user dbPass = password dbServer = localhost:1433;databaseName=testDb dbUrl = jdbc:sqlserver://localhost:1433 I have zero problems with connecting to a SQL Server database in this fashion when using SQL Server authentication. Is there any way I can retrieve the credentials of the user's Windows Authentication and use that authentication for SQL Server? UPDATE: I know in ASP.net there is a way to set up Windows Authentication for access to the webapp, which is exactly what I am looking for, except I want to pass that token off to SQL Server for access to the database.

Are japanese characters supported in lucene? what are the settings to be done to get it working?

• How to rebuild openssh 5.2p1 after changing configure.ac

  I needed to add AM_PATH_CHECK to configure.am I then try to run the usual sequence of autotools commands to rebuild all the makefiles and whatnot: aclocal automake -ac autoheader autoreconf ./configure make and here my lack of understanding of autotools showes up because this release of openssh has no Makefile.am??? now what do I do? if i try to ignore this and build anyway configure dies with this lovely error: checking whether OpenSSL's PRNG is internally seeded... yes ./configure: line 18275: syntax error near unexpected token `PROG_LS,' ./configure: line 18275: `OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls)' caused by this line in configure.ac: OSSH_PATH_ENTROPY_PROG(PROG_LS, ls) Is this actually caused by my changes to configure.ac? what can I do to regenerate the required files to allow configure to work? if i take my changes out and dont run aclocal then it works???

  Whilst building a Windows Phone 7 app. using the MVVM pattern we've struggled to get to grips with a pattern or technique to centralise navigation logic that will fit with MVVM. To give an example, everytime the app. calls our web service we check that the logon token we've assigned the app. earlier hasn't expired. We always return some status to the phone from the web service and one of those might be Enum.AuthenticationExpired. If we receive that I'd imagine we'd alert the user and navigate back to the login screen. (this is one of many examples of status we might receive) Now, wanting to keep things DRY, that sort of logic feels like it should be in one place. Therein lies my question. How should I go about modelling navigation that relies on (essentially) switch or if statements to tell us where to navigate to next without repeating that in every view. Are there recognised patterns or techniques that someone could recommend? Thanks

  When I need a name for a new class that extends behaviour of an existing class, I usually have hard time to come up with a name for it. For example, if I have a class MyClass, then the new class could be named something like MyClassAdapter, MyClassCalculator, MyClassDispatcher, MyClassParser,... This new name should of course represent the behaviour of the class and would ideally be same as the design pattern in which it is used (Adapter, Decorator, Factory,...). But since we don't overuse design patterns, this is not always the solution :) So, do you know for a dictionary or a list of common words, that we can use to represent the behaviour of the class, containing a short description of the expected behaviour? Some examples: replicator, shadow, token, acceptor, worker, mapper, driver, bucket, socket, validator, wrapper, parser, verifier,... You could also look at this list as a cheat sheet for metaphors, with which you can better understand your problem domain.

• Hudson trigget builds remotely gives a forbidden 403 error

  I have a shell script on the same machine that hudson is deployed on and upon executing it, it calls wget on a hudson build trigger URL. Since its the same machine, I access it as http://localhost:8080/hudson/job/jobname/build?token=sometoken Typically, this is supposed to trigger a build on the project. But I get a 403 forbidden when I do this. Anybody has any idea why? I have tried this using a browser and it triggers the build, but via the command line it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

The API documentation for C# in this regard is quite poor, with many of the entries in msdn marked with "This language is not supported, or no code example is available.", I'm sorry I can't be more specific, I haven't done any programming using cryptographic api's.   Hey, My problem is I get error while trying to get request token from Yahoo. The error says Im missing oauth_callback parameter and yes I miss it because I dont need it. Ive read I need to set it to "oob" value if I dont want to use it(desktop app). And I did that but to no avail. If I set it to null the same happens. If I deactivate cookies in my browser and send the from, I'd get following error message: A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid. How can I prevent this message from showing? I would prefer redirecting the user to another page. • google oauth doesn't redirect to callback after authorization

  I can't seem to get google to redirect to the callback url after obtaining the auth token. By redirecting the user to the following url, the user can click grant or deny access. After that the user clicks on one of the choices, the user is not redirected back to the callback url. https://www.google.com/accounts/OAuthAuthorizeToken?oauth_token=4%2F5ETLZ84rGmRxE_yx0b-_IFDReUxe&oauth_callback=http://blahblahblah.com/user_sessions/create&oauth_version=1.0&hd=default I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be.   I have to create a form dynamically via javascript (yeah, that sounds ugly, but read this for the reason) and wants to make its submission CSRF proof. Usually, I use the @csrf_protect decorator in my views, and the {% csrf_token %} tag in my templates, as recommanded in the doc. But what should I do with a client-side generated form ? If I add a '/get_token/' view to generate a token on the server and obtain its value (say, via JSONP), then that means that I'm creating a backdoor an attacker could use to bypass the protection. • Using C preprocessor to construct a string literal for scanf?

  I'm attempting to create an sscanf string literal to aid in buffer overrun prevention in C99. The goal is something like: #define MAX_ARG_LEN 16 char arg[MAX_ARG_LEN] = ""; if (sscanf(arg, "%"(MAX_ARG_LEN-1)"X", &input) > 0) The obvious "manual" solution is something like: #define MAX_ARG_LEN 16 #define MAX_ARG_CHARS "15" char arg[MAX_ARG_LEN] = ""; if (sscanf(arg, "%"MAX_ARG_CHARS"X", &input) > 0) However, I would prefer something to automatically generate "%15X" given a buffer size of 16. This link is almost works for my application: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/240353/convert-a-preprocessor-token-to-a-string but it does not handle the -1. Suggestions?

• Edit my message before posting in Twitter with Twitter API and PHP

  I am having a site and I want to add a button in my site that will link to the twitter login page and after login it will post a message to the Twitter home page of the user. I used this code: http://www.matpal.com/2010/12/oauth-access-token-in-twitter-api.html and it works fine. My problem is that before posting the message I want to be able to edit it. So after login I want to see my message in an editing input (like retween do,here: http://www.mobilemarketer.com/cms/news/search/10263.html ) and post it after clicking Tweet. Does anyone know how can I do this? Thanks in advance

• How to sift idioms and set phrases apart from other common phrases using NLP techniques?

  What techniques exist that can tell the difference betwen plain common phrases such as "to the", "and the" and set phrases and idioms which have their own lexical meanings such as "pick up", "fall in love", "red herring", "dead end"? Are there techniques which are successful even without a dictionary, statistical methods HMMs train on large corpora for instance? Or are there heuristics such as ignoring or weighting down "promiscuous" words which can co-occur with just about any word versus words which occur either alone or in a specific limited set of idiomatic phrases? If there are such heuristics, how do we take into account set phrases and verbal phrases which do incorporate promiscuous words such as "up" in "beat up", "eat up", "sit up", "think up"?
