  Hi guys, I´m having a problem trying to play a flashMovie(swf file)... • How do I extract a postcode from one column in SSIS using regular expression

  I'm trying to use a custom regex clean transformation (information found here ) to extract a post code from a mixed address column (Address3) and move it to a new column (Post Code) Example of incoming data: Address3: "London W12 9LZ" Incoming data could be any combination of place names with a post code at the start, middle or end (or not at all). Desired outcome: Address3: "London" Post Code: "W12 9LZ" Essentially, in plain english, "move (not copy) any post code found from address3 into Post Code". • Greasemonkey script for inserting math in gmail

  I wish an easy way to communicate mathematical equations with gmail. There's a javascript script called AsciiMath, which should translate Tex-like equations into standard mathML. I thought that it would be nice to use this script with GM. I thought that before sending the email, this script would convert all the TeX-like equations in your email to MathML. Thus the reader which is using FF (or IE with MathPlayer installed) would be able to easily read those equations. Ideally, I wish to somehow keep the original TeX-like equations in a plain-text message, so that it would be readable by plain text email clients, such as mutt. Obviously the weakest link here is the client software, which most likely doesn't support MathML. Still if my correspondent is using Firefox and some kind of webmail (which is pretty reasonable) - it should work. My question is, is it possible? Did anyone do that? Do you see any technical problems with this approach (gmail filtering the MathML, client not parsing it correctly etc.)? Any smarter ideas?

• Am I correctly extracting JPEG binary data from this mysqldump?

  I have a very old .sql backup of a vbulletin site that I ran around 8 years ago. I am trying to see the file attachments that are stored in the DB. The script below extracts them all and is verified to be JPEG by hex dumping and checking the SOI (start of image) and EOI (end of image) bytes (FFD8 and FFD9, respectively) according to the JPEG wiki page. But when I try to open them with evince, I get this message "Error interpreting JPEG image file (JPEG datastream contains no image)" What could be going on here? • How to make Resig's micro-templates XHTML compliant?

  Hello, I have been experimenting with John Resig's micro-template, which works great. However, the mark-up will not pass the XHTML 1.0 Transitional validation test. (Among other things, id attributes yield errors.) Replacing tags identifiers <, with [[,]], passes validation. Thus, I created a js script which at load time (jQuery document ready) converts the square brackets back to regular markers. This works fine in FF, but not in IE, Chrome, etc. Scripts embedded within CDATA tags validate as well. Question: Is there a way to insert micro-template in a script and still pass XHTML validation? My idea was to remove the CDATA tags once the page has been loaded. But there are probably smarter ways. (Note: I'd prefer not to inject HTML via js since the mark-up will be difficult to maintain.) PS: I looked at other js templates, but they are either not XHTML compliant or too bulky. TIA for any hints.

• when updating location.hash in Chrome the jQuery animation "freezes" for a second

I'm using Coda Slider 2.0 & jQuery v1.4.2 It behaves perfectly in IE, FF & Safari, but Chrome seems to reload/hang for a second when setting location.hash. • Annoying IE7 problem.

  I am styling a Wordpress theme but has run into problem with IE7. The first word("it") inside the paragraph/strong tag ends up to the left of the img tag when I want it BELOW the image. My problem is that the only element I can change CSS properties here is the div, since the code inside is posted with a WYSIWYG by an blog author. Is there anyway i can fix this problem? • Absolute positioned div jumps outside containing div in IE7

  Having trouble with a couple of display issues in IE7. Firstly, my large text headers display too far up in Internet Explorer (all pages) Secondly, my descriptions on my Portfolio pages end up outside their containing divs. Works great on FF/Chrome/Opera/Safari though! Not sure if problem number 2 is a overflow issue, or a absolute positioning bug in IE.   The following code works in IE8, FF, Safari, Chrome etc. (not bothering with IE6 for this one), but doesn't work in IE7. I've been through the code with a fine tooth-comb. • invalid argument IE7 javascript line number changes

  This is the test page: http://www.onebagoneearth.com/ OBOEKindBag (spaces between the pagename and domain because I don't want the URL indexed as such) If you click on one of the thumbnails, or on the main image, you see a popup window, and if you enter a quantity and then click "add to cart" here, in IE7 (and IE6, but I'm not focusing on that as much), you see an invalid argument error with Code:0. The line # changes depending on which item you add to cart! The URL also changes because it depends on this line of javascript: var cartUrl = "/app/site/backend/additemtocart.nl?c=659197&n=2&buyid=" + zbuyid + "&qty=" + zqty + "&" + strOptionId + "=" + zitmId . The strOptionId variable, which contains the bag color type (ie. this changes for the different types of bags, like Kind bags, regular OBOE bags), and the zitmID variable which contains the particular bag color that you've selected (ie. Black), are what change, and also what seem to affect the line number that the invalid argument occurs on. The error definitely doesn't occur in Chrome 4, IE 8, or FF 3.5. Ideas?

• IE performance issues with offsetHeight and offsetWidth

  I have a site that grabs the response text from an AJAX call and does 'innerHTML' on a div that is going to contain it. After I do the 'innerHTML' I process the DIV by traversing the whole hierarchy of nodes and grabbing their [offsetWidth/offsetHeight] to do some operations with it. Why not css style width/height? because sometimes those values are not available since I don't control what is coming from the AJAX response, plus I want the real box dimensions including borders/scrolls/padding. On large injections (let's say 7,000 new DOM elements) IE takes way longer time than FF/Safari just to get this [offsetWidth/offsetHeight], actually if I wasn't doing injection but just render the contents of the HTML in the browser and processing it, it would be much faster. But that is not an option since I have to inject it on a div that will contain it. Anybody has deal with this kind of issue before? is there an alternative to innerHTML, I have try using documentFragment to inject and process and the move it to the div and still I don't see much gain. How can I get the values that are available with [offsetWidth/offsetHeight]? Thanks a bunch for any suggestions. Paul

• Would it be possible to have a UTF-8-like encoding limited to 3 bytes per character?

  UTF-8 requires 4 bytes to represent characters outside the BMP. That's not bad; it's no worse than UTF-16 or UTF-32. But it's not optimal (in terms of storage space). There are 13 bytes (C0-C1 and F5-FF) that are never used. And multi-byte sequences that are not used such as the ones corresponding to "overlong" encodings. If these had been available to encode characters, then more of them could have been represented by 2-byte or 3-byte sequences (of course, at the expense of making the implementation more complex). Would it be possible to represent all 1,114,112 Unicode code points by a UTF-8-like encoding with at most 3 bytes per character? If not, what is the maximum number of characters such an encoding could represent? By "UTF-8-like", I mean, at minimum: The bytes 0x00-0x7F are reserved for ASCII characters. Byte-oriented find / index functions work correctly. You can't find a false positive by starting in the middle of a character like you can in Shift-JIS.

• Zend Sessions problem with IE8

  I'm running a Zend Framework powered website and it seems to have serious problems with sessions. I have a 5 step process where I save the form data in the session between the steps and then save it into the database on the last step. When we built the site sometimes the session just went away and forced us to restart. Now it seems to work again but recently we discovered an issue with Internet Explorer 8. It fails between step 2 - 3 and forgets the session. It works fine in IE6, IE7, FF, Chrome, Safari and even in my mobile web browser (SE P1). We're storing our sessions in the database and if I deactivate the session db handler it works. What's the difference between using the database and not using it for sessions? Do I loose something if I switch back?   Hi, I've got a left rounded corner box - textbox - right rounded corner box which all make up part of a search box. All's well in FF, Chrome, IE8 but not IE7. I've checked it using the debug tool and and I have tried a number of options, none of which want to work at the moment, so I am hoping someone might know what this issue (bug) might be please? • Jquery UI Dialog - when opened IE7 Browser moves instantly to the bottom of the page

  Hello, i have been working on a new .net MVC site and have integrated some of the awesome jquery UI components. ive been testing it in IE8, FF, opera and Chrome and all looks well. Once I test in IE7, surprisingly its the dialogs that are causing a problem. basically what’s happening is that one you user clicks to open a dialog the page will scroll immediately to the bottom of the page. This is especially bad if the page is quite long. this only happens in IE7 (and probably 6 but im not even going there!). I have spend a few hours reading forums and it seems im not the only one.   I have a problem with IE causing two errors: 1. Object doesn't support this property or method 2. Call was rejected by callee. My Intention: To call window.opener.myObject method that is going to retrieve some data using ajax and pass in callback function that live as nested function in popup window that initiated call that is going to handle response data and modify popup window html accordingly. Here is a scenario: I pull up popup window that handles some specific operation. This popup window calling window.opener.myObject method that using ajax call. I'm passing in popup window function that is going to handle response and it works with ff and safari but not with ie. • Javascript API not working for Chrome or Safari on JW Player 5.9

  I am working on a custom interface for the JW Player which displays the current track title and has play/pause, next track, previous track and volume toggle buttons. It works for IE8/9 and FF but fails for Chrome and Safari. • jQuery: preventDefault() not working on input/click events?

  I want to disable the default contextMenu when a user right-clicks on an input field so that I can show a custom contextMenu. Generally speaking, its pretty easy to disable the right-click menu by doing something like: $([whatever]).bind("click", function(e) { e.preventDefault(); }); And in fact, I can do this on just about every element EXCEPT for input fields in FF - anyone know why or could point me towards some documentation? • jQuery slideDown: Parent element doesn't expand?

  Hi, This issue occurs in our beloved Internet Explorer 7: I have a list of items, each with a hidden child div. When user clicks the "expand" button in any list item, the hidden div will expand downwards and push all content beneith it lower. This works just as it should in FF, Chrome, IE8 - but IE7 will not expand the parent element along with its children. This is noticeable because the top-most parent container has an absolutely positioned image at the very bottom (yea... rounded corners) - that doesn't get pushed down when the content expands. I'm guessing that's because of the absolute positioning... Just wondering whether I should attempt to code up some huge workaround in jQuery just for that (assuming I'm able to), or if this is a known issue of some sort. • document.onkeyup triggers when it shouldn't

If I'm not crazy, you'll see that it occasionally appends 'false' even though the d key was never released. (I've tried this in FF and Chrome in Linux and Vista). Anybody happen to know why, or have a workaround?
