    How would you go about redirecting in ASP.NET MVC to take into account some external URL rewriting rules. For example: What the user enters: http://www.example.com/app/route What ASP.NET MVC sees: /route What I want to redirect to: http://www.example.com/app/other_route What actually happens when I do a simple RedirectToAction: http://www.example.com/other_route (which doesn't exist, from the outside anyway) This seems like it should be simple, but I'm drawing a blank.

    I've built a Base Controller that all of my Controllers inherit from, and I've got it setup so that it checks the browser type and returns the appropriate MasterPageFile on the fly. I'm wondering if this is an efficient way to do this or if I should optimize it another way.     I just setup an out of the box "W2K8 R2 Web" server and installed IIS 7 out of the box. Then I installed the .NET4 framework and ran "aspnet_regiis -i" command. I created a site using .NET 4.0 Integrated app pool. I created an MVC application using the default MVC project template, without modifying I compiled the project and deploy the files using (Publish) to the virtual directory. I can pull the site up, but the styles are missing from the page and for some reason it routing to the /Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=/

    I have an existing WebForms project to which I'm adding MVC pages. I created an MVC project and copied the project type guids. It works fine, but I can't get Visual Studio to display the "Add Controller" or "Add View" wizards on my controllers and views directories (they're not /Controllers and /Views, they're in /Foo/Controllers and /Foo/Views). Is it possible to enable the wizards?

    Hello there, I just created this thread to discuss with people who have adopted the smarty system, and how many time it took to you to understand it, because i just can't get the idea, instead of making every easier as everybody says i think it just make more complex to code. More than a problem with only smarty is with the whole MVC model, with CakePHP or KohanaPHP i experience the same problems, u need to do 3x lines of code and files for something that u can do with a few lines of simple php. Maybe u can tell how did u learned to code using MVC model :)

I am guessing that this is something that I've done wrong because I see no mention of this as a breaking change in the white papers and docs. Everything I'm using is RTM/RTW and no beta or RC versions.

    I'm building a very simple ASP.NET MVC site that doesn't require a database and doesn't have user accounts or any other special ASP.NET stuff. When I first created the site with the ASP.NET MVC 1.0 site template in Visual Studio, the web.config page was configured to automatically connect to SQL Server Express as a User Instance. Can I completely remove this dependency? If so, how do I get rid of all this database stuff?

I wonder, how to implement unique-field validation using custom data-annotation ?     Hey, How do you set the id of an Html.Form in ASP.NET MVC 2? I tried this: <% using (Html.BeginForm("Save", "Clients", new { id = "SubmitForm" })) {%> But it doesn't work, my form still doesn't have an id property: <form action="/TothSolutions/Secure/Clients/Save/SubmitForm" method="post"> I'm guessing this worked in ASP.NET MVC 1 but not 2. The reason I need the id property set is so that I can do jQuery validation on the form: $("#myForm").validate etc... Thanks, Justin
