  • How do I set permissions on a Server 2003 folder

    Hi There, In my part time position as entire IT department at my Office ( I'm a MCSD developer normally ) I have been asked to change a shared folder. Only I don't really understand all the Shared / Security options. I have a folder that must be accessed by 2 people in the company (and no one else). They both must have read/write/edit and change access. They must be able to read/write/edit each others files; existing or newly created. Should be easy but I'm a bit overwhelemd by all the choices. What should I set? Thanks for your help richard

  • taskbar hangs when opening a folder

    Any one in here who has experienced this problem. The taskbar hangs whenever I: - Open a folder from a browser - Open a usb flash drive - Open a drive on my computer It really sucks, but the solution to the taskbar hangs because of opening flash drive is to remove the flash drive. Which is not safe because the file system of my flash drive is ntfs. And I can't just safely remove it because the taskbar doesnt respond when I click it. Do you know any solutions to this? Other than disabling the automatically search for printer in the folder options.

  • win7-64sp1: Rename folder (including zip file) error popup

    With the install of win7-64sp1 I get a windows explorer popup on any folder rename including .zip files. "Could not find this item" They are referring to the old name. What a bug. If I click "Try Again' the popup goes away, folder is renamed. Lots of posts on the net about this but no fixes. I tried a registry patch (that I shouldn't have) and it did nothing to fix. My experience with Microsoft is that they will never fix this, and want me to buy windows 8. This started happening after the install of sp1. I posted in one of the zillions of ridiculously byzantine and almost useless Microsoft forums but expect no answer there. They'll probably tell me to reinstall windows.

Something like this: List Folder_1 SubFolder_1 Item 1_1_1 Item 1_1_2 SubFolder_2 Item 1_2_1 Item 1_2_2 Item 1_2_3 Folder_2 SubFolder_1 Item 2_1_1 Item 2_1_2 Item 2_1_3 SubFolder_2 Item 2_2_1 Item 2_2_2 I want to add a list item to a folder depending on some criteria. I don't want to loop through all folders as the number of folders is more. So, I thought of running a CAML query to get the folder. Below CAML Query gives me all folders in the list: <Where> <Eq> <FieldRef Name='FSObjType' /> <Value Type='int'>0</Value> </Eq> </Where> How can I add another condition to the above query so that I can get a specific folder when I know the exact folder name?

    I have the need to create a Desktop Shortcut to an existing FOLDER (NOT to a file) using Wix. To elaborate more, my installer program has a CustomAction program written using C# associated with it. This CustomAction program creates a folder named "BSS" of which the path is selected by user. C:\ProgramData\MT\BSS Now I need to place a Desktop Shortcut to this folder using WiX. However, I encounter a problem since this folder does not have a folder structure within WiX. The closest code I could find was the following. <Directory Id="DesktopFolder" Name="Desktop"/> <Directory Id="CommonAppDataFolder" Name="ProgramDataFolder"/> <Component Id="ComponentBSStrageShortcut" Guid="{8436995c-2e76-4030-b92d-c6b4bc243c43}"> <Shortcut Id="ShortcutBSStrageShortcut" Directory="DesktopFolder" WorkingDirectory="APPLICATIONFOLDER" Target="[CommonAppDataFolder]/MTK/BSStrage" Name="BSStrage" Show="normal"/> <RegistryValue Action="write" Key="SOFTWARE/MTK/BackStreet" Root="HKCU" Type="string" KeyPath="yes" Value="ApplicationFolderName"/> </Component> When I build the installer this way, it actually creates a shortcut on Desktop. However, WiX seems to think that BSStrage is a file/application so it places a shortcut to an imaginary application called BSStrage in the location C:\ProgramData\MT. But double clicking on it dosen't help as there is no program that can be used to open it. Obviously I'm doing it wrong here. Can someone please help me with this, so as how to overcome this problem. Note that I'm extremely new to Wix (it's been only two days) and has never worked with it before. Any code sample would be of great help.

  • C# file write permission issue under "Program Files" folder

    Hello everyone, I am using inno setup to make a installation package for my application, and my application is written by C# + .Net 2.0 + VSTS 2008. Inno setup = http://www.jrsoftware.org/isinfo.php and I install my application under Program Files/Foo folder (Foo is my application name). My application is targeting to Windows Vista. The issue I found is my program cannot write to the folder Program Files/Foo. And I need the permission of write to this folder in order to save some configuration files. The strange thing I notice is the folder Program Files/Foo is marked as readonly and I have checked all folders under Program Files are marked with read only, such as Office. My questions are, Why all folders are marked as read only under Program Files? It means we should not write to individual application folders under Program Files? If not, where should we write information to disk like user last selected configuration information of an individual application? If we could write to individual application folders under Program Files, what is the solution? I do not want my application to Run As administrator to solve this issue, and if there are solution to write to this folder, I want to require minimal permission if possible. thanks in advance, George

    Hello, My program uses some external programs that i included in the Files folder. In my code im reffering to Files/external_program.exe Windows Vista & Windows 7 knows how to handle this and starts the program on the same location as my program in the Files folder. But Xp doesnt know where it is, and Windows XP will think im reffering to the C:\Files folder. So im getting an error and the app crashes. How can i fix this? so windows xp will know that i'm reffering to the Files folder on the same location as my program.

  • Apache Not Accepting a Path in My Home Folder

    I have trying to set up an Apache site to use a folder in my home folder without any success. I exactly followed the steps in this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP yet I did not succeed; I keep getting error 403, which says that the server doesn't have permission to access the requested page. I searched forums and many suggested changing the permission of the folder. I went straight away and set the permission to 777, but that didn't solve the problem. I made another search and somebody gave me a clue, which is that it could be because my home folder is encrypted. I believe this could be the problem, but: What is the relation between encryption and Apache? I suppose Apache server is requesting the file from the system, rather than trying to access the file bytes! Is there anyway to solve this problem? I don't want to move the folder to /var/www because I am using this Apache for testing, so I want whatever change I make to be immediately reflected, rather than having to copy files which is error prone.

    Hello everyone I am trying out Windows Live SkyDrive, and I installed SDExplorer (http://www.cloudstorageexplorer.com/) It works by adding my SkyDrive folder to Windows Explorer, but it does not get a drive name or anything, so how can I access that drive/folder from my C# application? When I go into the folder and look at the address bar it says "Computer\SDExplorer". Directory.GetDirectories(@"\Computer\SDExplorer") does not work, because it translates to "C:\Computer\SDExplorer". I would like to be able to create a small application that can create folders and upload files to my SkyDrive account. Anybody know how these special folder/drives work? - I noticed MozyHome appears in the same way in my Windows Explorer.

    I have a remote share in windows 7 and accessing the same share from windows 2008.     Hi, I have a folder with numerous files that I need to copy to multiple PC's on a network. I thought if the folder didn't exist it would automatically create it. Here's what I have... copy "C:\Documents and Settings\follag\Desktop\Music" "\PC NAME\c$\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Music" When I look at the destinatin PC, it is not creating the folder and copying the files.     Ok, there seems to be a problem with the JS Code for Opera browsers, as it only removes the last option tag that is selected within a multiple select tag, can someone please help me. Here is the HTML for this: <select id="actions_list" name="layouts" multiple style="height: 128px; width: 300px;"> <option value="forum">forum</option> <option value="collapse">collapse</option> <option value="[topic]">[topic]</option> <option value="[board]">[board]</option> </select> Ofcourse it's within a form tag, but there's a ton more code involved with this form, but here is the relevant info for this. Here is the JS that should handle this, but only removes the last selected option in Opera, not sure about other browsers, but it really needs to remove all selected options, not just the last selected option... argg var action_list = document.getElementById("actions_list"); var i = action_list.options.length; while(i--) { if (action_list.options[i].selected) { action_list.remove(i); } } What is wrong with this?     Hi, I'm trying to design this script that's supposed to be used as a part of a logon script for alot of users. And this script is basically supposed to take a source folder and destination folder as basically just make sure that the destination folder has the exact same content as the source folder. But only copy if the datemodified stamp of the source file is newer than the destination file. I have been thinking out this basic pseudo code, just trying to make sure this is valid and solid basically. I'm not quite sure how it can be done, but I could probably spend all day figuring it out. But the people here are generally so amazingly smart that with your help it would take alot less time :)

    I'm trying to make a Live Folder with URIs. The intent I set to the Live Folder items is an Intent{Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse(url)}. I have verified url is indeed http://www.google.com (for testing purposes). But when I click the item in the live folder I get an error message: "Application is not installed on your phone." I guess I'm missing something, but I have no idea how to make the browser launch.
