  • XML through web service

    Hi, I have some data which I think would be best to be represented in XML. I want this data to be transmitted from a Java Web service to a web client so basically I want the XML data to be transmitted. What I'm thinking is reading from the XML file from the web service converting it to an object and sending it to the client and the client would convert it to xml again. But I'm not sure if this is the best way I could do it... Any opinions please? Thanks and regards, Krt_Malta

    I am trying to use the Google Contacts API to connect to a user's contact information, on my Google apps domain. Generating an access_token using the gdata api's ContactsService clientlogin function while using the API key for my project works fine, but I would prefer to not store the user's credentials, and from the information I have found that method uses OAuth1.0 So, to use OAuth2.0 I have: Generated a Service Account in the developer's console for my project Granted access to the service account for the scope of https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/ in the Google apps domain admin panel Attempted to generate credentials using SignedJwtAssertionCredentials: credentials = SignedJwtAssertionCredentials( service_account_name=service_account_email, private_key=key_from_p12_file, scope='https://www.google.com/m8/feeds/', sub=user_email') The problem I am running into is that attempting to generate an access token using this method fails. It succeeds in generating the token when I remove the sub parameter, but then that token fails when I try to fetch the user's contacts. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

  • C# Windows Service Multiple Config Files

    Quick Question Is it possible to have more than 1 config file in a windows service? Or is there some way I can merge them at run time? Scenario Currently I have two config files containing the below contents. After I build and install my Windows Service, I can't get my custom XML Parser class to read the content because it keeps pointing to the wrong config file, even though I am using a few lines of code to ensure it gets the right name of the config file I need to access. ALSO When I navigate to the folder in which the service is installed, there is only sign of the normal APP.Config file, and no sign of the custom config file. (I have even set the normal ones properties to "Do Not Copy" and the custom ones properties to "Copy Always").   • Getting huge lags when downloading files via Service

    I have a Service which receives URLs to download. The Service than downloads these URLs and save them to a file on the SD Card. When I put more than 2 items in the download queue my device is unusable. It nearly freezes. Huge lags and so on. Any idea?     Over the weekend I worked a little more on my ACS2 sample. Instead of writing it all down, I decided to quickly record four short videos that cover the relevant features and code. Have fun ;) Part 1 – Overview This video does a quick walkthrough of the solution and shows the web application part. This includes driving the sign in UI via JavaScript (thanks Matias) as well as the registration logic I wrote about here. watch Part 2 – SOAP Service and Client The sample app also exposes a WCF SOAP service. This video shows how to wire up the service to ACS and hows how to create a client that first requests a token from an IdP and then sends this token to ACS. watch Part 3 – REST Service and Client This part shows how to set up a WCF REST service that consumes SWT tokens from ACS. Unfortunately there is currently no standard WIF plumbing for REST. For the service integration I had to combine a lot of code from different sources (kzu, zulfiq) as well as the WIF SDK and OAuth CTPs together. The Silverlight Client shows ho to sign in to the application using a registered identity provider (including web identities) and using the resulting SWT token to call our REST service.   • Asking browsers to cache as aggressively as possible

    This is about a web app that serves images. Since the same request will always return the same image, I want the accessing browsers to cache the images as aggressively as possible. I pretty much want to tell the browser Here's your image. Go ahead and keep it; it's really not going to change for the next couple of days. No need to come back. Really. I promise. I do, so far, set Cache-Control: public, max-age=86400 Last-Modified: (some time ago) Expires: (two days from now) and of course return a 304 not modified if the request has the appropriate If-Modified-Since header. Is there anything else I can do (or anything I should do differently) to get my message across to the browsers? The app is hosted on the Google App Engine, in case that matters.

  • Error in vb.net windows service when connecting to SQL

    I've installed a vb.net windows service on a Windows 2008 machine, that is attempting to connect to SQL 2005. The service starts succesfully, but can't see the database. The event log has the following entry. The description for Event ID 0 from source SU4.ESMR.DAL.Job.FillPriorityJobByType(oJobDS, TypeID: 3 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. This was tested locally on both XP and 2008. All environments are 32 bit.

  • Installed service starting and then stopping immediatly

    Hey guys, I am trying to install a service with a setup project. So through a normal setup/msi file, the service should be installed in services. So it works, but when i press start, i get the error/fault shown in the picture below. Does anyone know what causes it and most of all how i can solve it? I've read the message, but can't seem to find the origin. I don't know the most common things that would cause this error. Thanks in advance. ps: Other post is not helping to solve the problem

  • How to have a run in an Service?

    I have implemented an service that runs in a seperate process. This service contains a separate thread where i have a socket connection. This thread has a run() where it is continuously sending data to the port. My problem is after triggering the run() in the thread i don't get any contact with it anymore, i can see in the program that have open the socket that it consciously sends the data but the idea was that i while it is running i could change data that it sends for an example time. here is my run in the external thread: public void run() { if(run) { // Team and player names message is sent when entering in a game setBaseMessage(); SendMessageToCOMPort(base_message + CalculateCRC(base_message)); sleep(); // waits for 100 ms } } Anyone have any idea what might be wrong ?

    Everywhere I read says that messages handled by the service broker are processed in the order that they arrive, and yet if you create a table, message type, contract, service etc , and on activation have a stored proc that waits for 2 seconds and inserts the msg into a table, set the max queue readers to 5 or 10, and send 20 odd messages I can see in the table that they are inserted out of order even though when I insert them into the queue and look at the contents of the queue I can see that the messages are all in the right order. Is it due to the delay waitfor waiting for the nearest second and each thread having different subsecond times and then fighting for a lock or something?     I manage a Django site where we host the media on a subdomain. There shouldn't be any requests for media to the main domain. However I keep seeing these requests for "x.gif" showing up in the access logs on the domain that's handled by WSGI (not the media domain). Can anyone explain what this is?   • How do http proxies determine https traffic with a single port?

    If a proxy receives the tcp packet, then the destination ip address and port are that of the proxy. In that case, I imagine the only way a proxy can still resolve the intended destination is either through routing the source ip address/port or through the host field in the http header. Is this correct? In both Fiddler and Charles http proxies, I noticed that the tool accepts both http and https connections through a single port that you can specify. What do these tools do to tell the difference between the two types of connections?

  • Why can't service account such as Local Service, Network Service, or Local System be managed on a domain level?

    Hi security experts, I read from here that: On a local computer, an administrator can configure the application to run as Local Service, Network Service, or Local System. These service accounts are simple to configure and use but are typically shared among multiple applications and services and cannot be managed on a domain level. I just don't understand why these accounts cannot be managed on a domain level, since they all have well-known SIDs? Thanks for your time.

  • Seeking htaccess help: Converting multiple subdomains (both http and https) to www.domain.com using .htaccess

    I've been trying to get an answer to this question on other forums (the folks at SuperUser thought this was the place I needed to post) and via my connections, but I haven't gotten very far. Hopefully you guys can help me find an answer: I've got a dozen old subdomains that have been indexed by Google. These have been indexed as both http AND https. I've managed to redirect all the subdomains properly, provided they are not https, but can't get any of the https subdomains to property redirect. Here's the code I'm using: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain1.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain2.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain3.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] This works great until someone goes to: https://subdomain2.mysite.com$ which is not redirected back to http://www.mysite.com$ How can I get this to work? Additionally, I'm guessing there is an easier way to make it happen than setting up a dozen pairs of Rewrite conditions/rewrite rule? Is there any way to do this in just a few lines, including one where I list all the subdomains? I'd actually also like to redirect everything on https://www.mysite.com$ to http://www.mysite.com$ except for 3 folders These are mysite.com/secure, mysite.com/store, mysite.com/user -- is there any good way to add this to the htaccess file? Any suggestions would be great! Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Seeking .htaccess help: Converting multiple subdomains (both HTTP and HTTPS) to www.domain.com using .htaccess

    I've been trying to get an answer to this question on other forums (the folks at SuperUser thought this was the place I needed to post) and via my connections, but I haven't gotten very far. Hopefully you guys can help me find an answer. I've got a dozen old subdomains that have been indexed by Google. These have been indexed as both HTTP AND HTTPS. I've managed to redirect all the subdomains properly, provided they are not HTTPS, but can't get any of the HTTPS subdomains to property redirect. Here's the code I'm using: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain1.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain2.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain3.mysite.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mysite.com/$1 [R=301,L] This works great until someone goes to: https://subdomain2.mysite.com$ which is not redirected back to http://www.mysite.com$ How can I get this to work? Additionally, I'm guessing there is an easier way to make it happen than setting up a dozen pairs of RewriteCond/RewriteRule? Is there any way to do this in just a few lines, including one where I list all the subdomains? I'd actually also like to redirect everything on https://www.mysite.com$ to http://www.mysite.com$ except for 3 folders. These are mysite.com/secure, mysite.com/store, mysite.com/user. Is there any good way to add this to the .htaccess file?

    I'm wondering how frequently organisations use SOCKS5 as their web proxy protocol over, say, HTTP or authenticated HTTP proxies. Should an application even bother supporting SOCKS5 as an HTTP proxy? What percentage of organisations use SOCKS as a HTTP proxy? If you work in an organisation where you use SOCKS5, particularly authenticated SOCKS5, as the means of achieving HTTP Internet connectivity I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts. If you have experience with requirements for SOCKS5 proxies in your software I'd like to hear your thoughts too.
