• ubuntu hardrive repartition without uninstalling ubuntu or windows 7 and losing data of hardrive

  I have and asus r500v with 750 gb gpt system uefi motherboard core i7 3610qm, nvidia geforce gt, with ubuntu and w7 dual boot, I had problems installing ubuntu because of the grub but I fix it with https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/807801, but I still have the problem of "warning: the partition is misaligned by 3072 bytes. this may result iin very poor performance. Repartitioning is suggested" in every linux partitioin I made and my 750 gb is not being used at the maximun capacity it only uses 698 gb. I want to make partitions so that the warning doesnt show up and I can use the maximum capacity of the HDD, as I did with another dual boot laptop (compaq presario cq40). • Emails going to Junk for Hotmail recipients

  We send daily mass emails to our customers (~30,000+ emails per day). We have problems with Hotmail users receiving our emails. Sometimes the email goes to the Junk folder, but often it will got to their inbox, but the content is blocked so the user sees a message saying "This email was blocked and may be dangerous". If an email is sent to GMAIL it is usually not blocked, but it does show up as from "Uknown" instead of the company. Please be advised I've done the following: 1. No RBLs Checked on - http://multirbl.valli.org/ 2. We do have SPF records published 3. We do have reverse DNS setup 4. • How can i be sure that professional programming is not for me ?

  Hello everybody I love programming, developing projects for hobby and learning new concepts. I am getting harder too much in current job Despite learnt many thing well. I can even hardly understand assigned tasks. I am asking why i am getting harder to myself. It may not my fault? Our architecture doesn't spend enough time to explain complicated sides of project for us or i am not enough smart one for understand fastly. Our architecture also doesn't know what kind of hell he is creating ? Seeing 3 level generic types and 4-5 level generic inheritance in domain model objects hell makes me think so really. It looks abusing concepts more than reduce complexity. Thinking that he hasn't experienced before such a big project while he is getting confused in problems of the project. May i am not in right company ? May i am not good programmer ? May i am really stupid ? Become good in programming concepts is not enough to deal big project's complications so someone should to tell me that i have to still effort too much even i am good programmer for adopting myself to any big project ? Also i had another bad experiences from previous job but my professional experiences is almost few months but i spend 2 years for learning and coding for fun and i really can say that i have well skills on OOP, Design Patterns, coding standards and deep knowledge in language currently used. Sometimes i am thinking to leave programming professionally and work in any lame job while doing programming just for hobby. Waiting suggestions and insights

• How do photoshop slices and layer comps interact?

  I'm interested in using Photoshop (I have CS2) for some user interface design. I was hoping to be able to use slices and layer comps to mark out particular elements, and use Javascript scripting to export multiple graphics files and text descriptions (positions and sizes of slices mainly) that will be used by my program. My problem is that I've never used Photoshop for web design, or otherwise used slices, and I'm not confident that I understand how they interact with layer comps. This is what I believe (and hope) is correct... Manual slices aren't affected by layer comps in any way - they aren't saved as part of a layer comp. The same manual slices will be active irrespective of which layer comp is selected. Layer-based slices aren't directly affected by layer comps, but they are indirectly affected in that the layer comp saves details of layer position and style. Thus selecting a layer comp may move a layer and change its style, affecting the location and size of its layer-based slice, or may effectively disable the slice by hiding the layer. Automatic slices aren't directly affected by layer comps, but are indirectly affected due to changes to the layer-based slices. So, layer based slices (which are my main interest) may move, may change size (to accomodate a style such as a drop shadow), and may be effectively disabled by the layer being hidden. Other details (and all details of manual slices) will remain constant irrespective of which layer comp is active. Is that correct?

  I'm running a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Virtual Machine. Last week, the VM stopped unexpectedly now mysql will not start on the VM. These two events may be related, they may not be. • Fixing Poor Email

  I'm having an issue with SenderBase. My IPs are not blocked in any BLs but people who use SenderBase/Ciscos stuff do not get my emails. Is this because my email system is setup poorly? They list the following: Your email server or a computer in your network may be infected with malware and may be used to send spam. You may have an insecure network which is allowing other parties to use your network to send spam. Your email server may be misconfigured and might relay spam. You may be utilizing a dynamic IP that is not allowed to relay email directly to the Internet. I have just my site running CPanel. As far as I know there is no spam or abuse. What should I check to ensure that the mail systems (Exim) are up to standards? I have the server pretty well configured so I just can't see the system being abused without me knowing it. What standards should I be ensuring my e-mail server aligns up to?

• SQL Azure Service Issues &ndash; 10.27.2012 (Restored Now)

  Please note that if you have a Windows Azure website, or use SQL Azure, your site may be experiencing downtime currently.  Notice I just called in regarding one of my public facing internet sites, because the site was failing to load anything but its error page, I couldn’t connect to the database to inspect application error logs, and the Windows Azure Management portal won’t load the SQL Azure extension. After speaking to the representative, he also mentioned that they were also having some problems updating the Service Dashboard which shows service up/down time, and for now, they are posting messages at http://account.windowsazure.com.  Please note that this issue may only be effecting certain regions.  Last, I may have misheard the representative, but he said that the outage was being categorized as a level 8, and if I heard correctly, I think he said that level 8 was the worst level.  I can’t say for sure on this though, because the phone connection to their support number was bad – large amounts of white noise. Good Luck! Update It appears that this outage may also be effecting the following services: SQL Database, Service Bus, Datamarket, Windows Azure Marketplace, Shared Caching, Access Control 2.0, and SQL Reporting. The note on the account page says for the South Central US region, however, I believe the representative I spoke to also mentioned North Central. As I said before though, the connection was bad. Update 2 My site regained connectivity about an hour ago, and it appears that the service dashboard is back in operation with correct status and history. It does appear that I misheard on the phone regarding multiple regions, so chances are this only effected a percentage of the platform. All in all, if this WAS their worst level of a problem, they really got it fixed and back up pretty fast. All in all, I understand that it is inherent for a complex system such as Azure to have ups and downs, but at the end of the day, I am still happy to support Azure to its fullest!

• OpenVPN - Ubunut 10.04 - Client Can't Connect to Server - Linux Route Add Command Failed

  I suppose this could be asked on Server Fault as well, but it is specific to the client so I thought I'd start here. I have keys for a OpenVPN server already in place. I have used these keys to connect already, but using a Windows XP machine. • Spring 2012 Provides Plenty of Events for Developers

• Warnings When Undo Isn't Possible

  Enjoyed this post Never Use a Warning When you Mean Undo by Aza Raskin. It makes sense never to warn users if an undo option is possible. The examples given are from the web space. Here's the conclusion: Warnings cause us to lose our work, to mistrust our computers, and to blame ourselves. A simple but foolproof design methodology solves the problem: "Never use a warning when you mean undo." And when a user is deleting their work, you always mean undo. However, in enterprise apps you may find that an undo option isn't technically possible or desirable. Objects may be shared, part of a flow elsewhere, or undoing something committed to the database (a rollback I guess) may not be feasible if it becomes locked by another process. Plus, what constitutes user ownership of objects isn't always clear to users. The implications of delete (and other) actions need to be clearly communicated out in advance. Really, warnings are important in the enterprise space. Data has a very high value, and users can perform a wide variety of actions that may risk that data, not always within the application itself (at browser level, for example). That said, throwing warnings all over the place when an undo option is possible is annoying. Instead, treat warnings with respect. When there is no undo option possible, use warning messages to communicate potentially dangerous or irrecoverable actions or the downstream consequences of user actions on the process or task flow. Force the user to respond to a warning message by using a modal dialog with clearly labeled action buttons. Here's a couple of examples. A great article that got me thinking. Let's see more like that. Let's not forget there's more types of messages than just error messages. User assistance and user experience professionals need to understand when best to use confirmation, information, and warning types too!

• Wireless Keyboard Intermittent Failure to Type and Added Characters

  My keyboard has been acting up from time to time. It's wireless so this may be a wireless issue. What happens is I will be typing and then all of a sudden it seems to stop responding. If I type out this sentence it may show up like so If I ttennnnnnnnn it may ssssssp so While typing that sentence I may have to mash on a key repeatedly to get it to type. The resulting strings of letters seem to be coming as if the keyboard buffer cannot keep up. It's so weird. If I take the USB tranceiver and yank it out then plug it back in, Voila! Problem solved. I did the battery check so that's not a problem. Any suggestions? My keyboard is the Logitech MX3200

  When you work on the same project for a relative long time you get more experienced. You may also master many new technologies. Besides the coding you may also do what would classify other roles. There is however one part of your career that may not get updated. That is your job title. It seems beside all technological hypes there is also job title hype. It all depends on which company you work for. Many companies give employer better job titles because they want to keep them. The employee doesn’t change their job because the current title is much better, even if they would get better working condition and benefits if they changed their job. When you consider changing you job you notice that your job title is kind of “outdated”. People with less skill have a much better title for their job than you. You may very well explain what you did on your project but the fact is that many employers go by the title. So here are the questions: Do you change your current title in your CV? • cannot login to ubuntu 14.04

  I upgraded my Hp g6 from ubuntu 13.10 to 14.04 yesterday. Now I cannot log into the system using ubuntu/unity But I can still login using i3 windows manager. I checked and found the ubuntu-desktop is broken. I tried to reinstall it, it complained about the dependency issue and broken package. some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: ubuntu-desktop : Depends: ubuntu-session but it is not going to be installed Recommends: empathy but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. when I tried to install ubuntu-session, Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.
