  I am running a dicom receiver on a Centos 6 box on top of a Xen server. If I attempt to send data to it from a remote server I get the following error: storescp: relocation error: /lib/libresolv.so.2: symbol memcpy, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference If I send data to the server locally it works, but sending to it from remote gives the above error. I do not think this is a problem that is specific to the storescp server.

• how to figure out why sites on my server aren't loading

  I seem to randomly receive "page cannot load, cannot connect to server" errors for sites on one of my servers. when this happens, it seems to only happen on certain IPs or IP ranges at a time. I say this because while I'll get the error from my home laptop I'll be able to access the site fine from my work computer or from an offsite VPS. DNS records should already be fully propagated as these records were updated months ago. I have no idea how to diagnose what's going on. Is there a tool in cpanel or outside on the web that can help me figure out what's going on?

• Best network tuning variables for a Linux proxy

  What are the best settings to tune so that Linux can handle a very large amount of TCP connections such as would be seen by a proxy server or a webserver? I'm using Centos6 and squid and am seeing a large amount of TIME_WAIT connections backing up until finally the machine stops responding. The machine isn't loaded at the time, and is having trouble making ingoing and outgoing connections. I've had several suggestions of tuning /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_reuse and /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_reuse but they mention bad interactions with load balancers and NAT both of which are used in my situation.

  One of the new features of Server 2008 is the ability to attach a task to a specific event in the event logs. One of the actions available is to send an email through a SMTP server. This is working great, however it would be ideal if in the message body, the Event contents could be placed. I have tried using $eventdescription and %eventdescription%, but those are just shots in the dark. Any amount of googling produces no results. Does anyone know if this is possible? Update: Sparks' suggestion below is a step in the right direction I believe, however that method doesn't seem to work for all values. For example, I can pull the RecordID, Severity and Channel as shown, but I can't use the same method to retreive the EventID, or most importantly the description.   I'm comparing two large datasets containing strings in excel. Column A contains the numbers 1-1,000,000. Column B contains 1,000,000 strings, neatly organized in the desired order. Column C contains 100,000 randomly organized strings, that have identical values somewhere in column B. Example: A B C D 1 String1 String642 2 String2 String11 3 String3 String8000 4 String4 String78 What I'd like to do is find duplicate values in columns B and C then output the Column A value that corresponds with the string in Column C into Column D. Desired Output: A B C D 1 String1 String642 642 2 String2 String11 11 3 String3 String8000 8000 4 String4 String78 78

• WAMP - phpMyAdmin is loading a blank browser (Firefox)

  I recently uninstalled an older version of WAMP then installed the latest version. The link to the localhost displays the WAMPSERVER home page successfully. However, the http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ returns only a blank browser - it displays nothing. localhost/sqlitemanager/ returns a Forbidden You don't have permission to access /sqlitemanager/ on this server. This seems to be a 403 forbidden error I've looked everywhere for an answer to this. Help please

  Hi All We have got lots of Word templates on our network. They are perfectly working on local area network. However, if users try to create a new word document from a template when they are connected to VPN outside of the office, it takes nearly 20 minutes to create a word file which is not reasonable at all. • PassEnv does not find ENV variables

  I've got this /etc/profile.d/myfile.sh: export MYVAR=myval I also have a PassEnv MYVAR line in a <virtualhost> section of an apache conf dir. That lets me do things like: $ echo $MYVAR myval $ python >>> import os; os.getenv('MYVAR') 'myval' $ sudo echo $MYVAR myval $ sudo -i root# echo $MYVAR myval But then, despite that being the case I get: root# /sbin/service httpd restart /sbin/service httpd restart Stopping httpd: [ OK ] Starting httpd: [Mon Oct 22 14:44:02 2012] [warn] PassEnv variable MYVAR was undefined [ OK ] And all of my attempts to access MYVAR from within my wsgi scripts just don't work. Thoughts? Am I doing something obviously wrong? EDIT for more detail I've got a swarm of computers/VMs and a swarm of developers working on a swarm of projects. I need a simple central place to keep environment information, the most common is the "environment" (dev/stage/prod). The scheme that we've got (modifying *.wsgi programmatically) is turning out to be more fragile than we'd like. The main options that I see are: put things in the shell environment put things in other config files Getting things into the shell environment is the best, because we won't need to write yet more duplicated "what is my environment" code.

• Trouble loading an ISO

  I've created a boot disk and ISO image with paragon. I boot up the Virtual pc with the disk in and I get to my recovery page. When I am supposed to select an ISO image? My Virtual PC doesn't acknowledge any of my physical hard drives on my host PC. I've also tried copy/paste the files into my datastore and they do not show up. I've tried the option during the set up to start with the ISO but again I am not able to browse to my external hard drive that I have stored the ISO on. VMWare will acknowledge it and say that it is connected but I can't browse to it. Am I doing something wrong? I created the back up disk and ISO image on the external with paragon.

  Can someone please help with trying to use mod rewrite so foo.domain.com is rewritten to domain.com/p.php?s=foo and foo.domain.com/bar to domain.com/p.php?s=foo&p=bar? Currently my .htaccess is: RewriteEngine On # Remove www RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.com/$1 [R=301,L] # Rewrite subdomain etc. RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^(.*)\.domain\.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ p.php?s=%1&p=$2 [QSA,L,NC] But I can't work out how to grab the second variable (being optional and after a slash at the end of the URI. I've tried changing the end of the condition to ?/(.*)$, but to no avail and my mod rewrite skills are certainly naff!

Instead I have /etc/modprobe.d/ directory... Now, I suppose I need to put a file in this dir for my driver but I have no idea how to write this file... I just need "modprobe name" to be run...

• Multiple variables for the same command

  I'm new to cmd and was wondering if there's an easier way of retpying a variable in a command. For example, I have to do two commands for a set of 96 files and each time I would hit the up arrrow key, get my old commands back and change a variable from 1 to 2, then 2 to 3 and so forth. i.e.: Desktop\InitialProcess_230 Process230input.fasta -output Process230.fasta Then each time I want to do the next file which would be InitialProcess_231 and so on, I would change that in the command by scrolling along and removing 0 and putting a 1. Doing that for almost a 100 files seems like a hassle.

• Site faster on 1 core/1GB ram than on 8 core/32GB ram wth?

  Both sites are US based. I'm located in Europe. http://198.105.209.13/ <==== site that loads tons faster on 1 core and 1gb ram ONLY (Cent OS VPS) http://108.61.35.219/ <== site is located on my dedicated server with i7-3770 cpu and 32 gb ram (Windows) and is slow as hell Even if faster site is on linux it shouldn't make such a big difference in page load seriously. Does anyone know what could be a hiccup on the dedicated server? It's just unbelievable to me that site loads faster on 1 core cpu than on dedicated server. Note that site is pretty much only thing running on dedicated server. It has 1gbps connection.

• Command prompt cannot find PATH variable

  Sometimes, my command prompt cannot find the PATH variable. I have this occasional problem at work where when I open command-prompt and run commands like ipconfig or subst, I get an error saying something like 'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command. When I try this echo %path%, it prints out %path% instead of the PATH value. If I look at my Environment Variables window, the PATH is defined right there but I don't know why CMD can't find it. At this point, I understand why the other commands were not being recognized since their paths are in PATH variable. However, I cannot understand why the PATH variable is not being found. If I restart the computer, everything is back to normal. In a few days, I might have the same experience again. I tried using this answer. It suggested changing a registry value but mine already had the value that was suggested yet it wasn't working. (The restart step at the end would have solved it as usual but that's not the point.) Any suggestions regarding why the PATH variable may become invisible every now and then and how I can prevent it from happening again?

  Does anybody of a way to access files and directories that have a % in their name (which is valid) from the command-line? Specifically, if there are two %’s and the text between them happens to correspond to an environment variable. For example, if there is a file called C:\blah\%temp%.txt or a folder called C:\Program Files\%temp%\, none of the following will work because the variable gets expanded: > dir "c:\blah\%temp%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\^%temp^%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\%%temp%%.txt" > dir "c:\blah\\%temp\%.txt" > dir "c:\program files\%temp%" > dir "c:\program files\^%temp^%" > dir "c:\program files\%%temp%%" > dir "c:\program files\\%temp\%" Using wildcards will work, but does not uniquely select the file/folder and may include others: > dir "c:\blah\?temp?.txt"        (also shows ztempz.temp, 1tempa.txt, etc.) > dir "c:\program files\?temp?"   (likewise) (This is frustrating because every now and then—usually when Explorer is restarted for whatever reason—the environment variables stop expanding and some places where they are used end up creating files or directories with the environment variable in it. If the user does not have .Net 4.0 Full install and attempts to install our app the framework installs fine but the app fails to install. If we re-run the installation again the app installs fine.   I'm using a ScriptManager / ServiceReference to call as ASMX from client side code, just like the Calling Web Services from Client Script in ASP.NET AJAX example. Is there an easy way to show/hide a loading animation when I'm fetching data from the web service? I could show it when I call the service, and hide it in the callback. Is there an event I can attach to? I like the way JQuery has Ajax events for this sort of thing.

  Hi. I want to write a batch file that will take the contents of a file, and replace any environment variable references inside the file with the actual environment variable values. Is this possible? Basically, if a file had this: %PROGRAM FILES%\Microsoft SQL Server\ then I would want the file contents to become: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\ after the batch script ran. This is just one example, but I want ALL environment variables to be expanded. Thanks in advance for any help!
