• Generate data classes failed ?

  Hi everyone, I use MonoDevelop 2.2.2 with Mono 2.6.3 on OpenSuse so the linq to sql feature is implemented. But I have the problem I can create a new connexion to a postgresql database it's ok but when I click in Tool - Generate Data classes and select the connexion I've created before I obtain nothing, no tables appear. What's the problem ?

• Cancel Windows Domain Membership durin Suse installation

  0 vote down star Hi, I am installing SUSE 11.2, and went with the default options, now it reached the point of "Windows Domain Membership". At job I do not remember the right names, so I tried some but I get an error message which says "cannot use the group "WORKGROUP" for Linux authentication", etc. So I would like to avoid windows authentication, but at this point I do not see this option. I can only try domain names or abort the installation. What could I do here in order to finish the installation without windows memebership? Thanks

• Help:Graph contest problem: maybe a modified Dijkstra or another alternative algorithm

  Hi you all, I'm trying to do this contest exercise about graphs: XPTO is an intrepid adventurer (a little too temerarious for his own good) who boasts about exploring every corner of the universe, no matter how inhospitable. In fact, he doesn't visit the planets where people can easily live in, he prefers those where only a madman would go with a very good reason (several millions of credits for instance). His latest exploit is trying to survive in Proxima III. The problem is that Proxima III suffers from storms of highly corrosive acids that destroy everything, including spacesuits that were especially designed to withstand corrosion. Our intrepid explorer was caught in a rectangular area in the middle of one of these storms. Fortunately, he has an instrument that is capable of measuring the exact concentration of acid on each sector and how much damage it does to his spacesuit. Now, he only needs to find out if he can escape the storm. Problem The problem consists of finding an escape route that will allow XPTOto escape the noxious storm. You are given the initial energy of the spacesuit, the size of the rectangular area and the damage that the spacesuit will suffer while standing in each sector. Your task is to find the exit sector, the number of steps necessary to reach it and the amount of energy his suit will have when he leaves the rectangular area. The escape route chosen should be the safest one (i.e., the one where his spacesuit will be the least damaged). Notice that Rodericus will perish if the energy of his suit reaches zero. In case there are more than one possible solutions, choose the one that uses the least number of steps. If there are at least two sectors with the same number of steps (X1, Y1) and (X2, Y2) then choose the first if X1 < X2 or if X1 = X2 and Y1 < Y2. Constraints 0 < E = 30000 the suit's starting energy 0 = W = 500 the rectangle's width 0 = H = 500 rectangle's height 0 < X < W the starting X position 0 < Y < H the starting Y position 0 = D = 10000 the damage sustained in each sector Input The first number given is the number of test cases. Each case will consist of a line with the integers E, X and Y. The following line will have the integers W and H. The following lines will hold the matrix containing the damage D the spacesuit will suffer whilst in the corresponding sector. Notice that, as is often the case for computer geeks, (1,1) corresponds to the upper left corner. Output If there is a solution, the output will be the remaining energy, the exit sector's X and Y coordinates and the number of steps of the route that will lead Rodericus to safety. In case there is no solution, the phrase Goodbye cruel world! will be written. The pos with the bester binomial (Energy,num_Steps) is our "way out". Important : XPTO obviously can't move in diagonals, so we have to cut out this cases. I have many ideas, but I have such a problem implementing them... Could someone please help me thinking about this with some code or, at least, ideas? Am I totally wrong?

• Increase samba space on open suse 12.1

  I know linux basics but not an expert. IT guy left the job here and there is some time before new hire. So sorry if question is very basic. We have local testing server based on Open SUSE 12.1, which also act as shared drive between dev/mgmt team here and using Samba for that. Now we are running out of space on samba, even though server's 2*1TB harddisk is nearly 90% free. My question is, what is limiting Samba and how can I increase its limit? We need around at least 500 GB as shared drive but currently its just 25 GB. I don't need step by step answer, just a link to any helpful article would be sufficient. Probably I'm putting wrong keywords in google so not getting any helpful link. EDIT: Output of commands in the first comment. • "Supervising" syslog-ng in htop

  Hello, I was working at my server, when in htop I just noticed something unusual. The syslog-ng process was listed as follows supervising syslog-ng /sbin/syslog-ng I don't know what it means. I tried to do man supervising but found nothing. supervising command doesn't exist too. Googling, I found a page about launchtool, but I can't find neither it or its man page in my system. I'm curious What does that executable/command/whatever do? Why today did I read that line in htop? Thank you. You have to tilt the phone up and angle it back (to simulate the position it would be in at your ear) and then covering the sensor works. Anyone else playing with the sensor? In my particular app, I'm recording a voice message and when you move the phone away from your ear, I want to pause the recording (when I get an OFF). The first time I move the phone away from my ear, the recording is not paused. However, if I put it to my ear and move it away again, it is paused.

  I was doing a system update using zypper update After a while the screen was filled with this message failed to start system logging service. and the system was not responding. I had to shutdown it by holding the power button. then I started the machine again, and selected to boot suse. Then I saw the fancy boot animation(some shiny big dots gathering to the center of the screen), then the screen just turned black and the monitor sayed "no signal". then I tried to boot into suse failsafe mode, which was fine. how can I investigate into this problem?

• Why won't the floppy mount?

  The 1.44Meg floppy won't mount in my Nautilus file browser. When I try to mount it, it says there is no media in the drive. Yet, I can write to the floppy through the terminal using the 'cp' command. I can enter the command: mount -t ext2 /floppy and it mounts. I have also run a check and the disk itself is 100% clean. So, why can't I get the nautilus browser to open up the floppy? Is there a way to see the actual floppy from the terminal?

  I was having windows 7 installed on my laptop, yesterday I tried to install Open Suse operating system. During its installation I chose a NTFS partition and formatted it to ext4 filesystem. During installation an error came that mount point cannot be created on this partition and I aborted the installation. They on reboot a message came BootMgr is missing. I then reinstalled the windows but on complete installation when setup rebooted the system then a blank screen came with a cursor blinking. I went through many forums and learnt may startup repairs and commands but it continues to hang up at a blank screen with cursor blinking. Reinstalling new windows 7 is also not doing any effect. I urgently need to repair my laptop for very important work. Please Help

  I am hosting a staging site (test.mydomain.com) which currently work well on port 80 for two sites (test.mydomain.com and test.FRmydomain.com) I am working on a new backend and I would like to deploy a third site on this server for testing. My hope is that it will live at test.mydomain.com:4204. I've got some experience with apache and quickly added statements: Listen 4204 NameVirtualHost *:4204 and created a new config for my site. What I imagine are the relevant parts of my config: <VirtualHost *:4204 > ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName test.mydomain.com:4204 However, the site is not publicly available, by name or ip. If i curl localhost:4204 from the server, I get the expected page content At this point, I'm a bit of a loss on how to go forwards. It seems like my config is correct but not available to be served. Am I better off defining a proxy definition so that, for instance: test.mydomain.com/4204 proxies to my localhost server or is there a way to make the site available via the internet? EDIT: I have added an iptable rule after further Googling with the command: iptables -I INPUT -p tcp --dport 4204 -j ACCEPT I can see apache listening on 4204 and the rule is definitely in place but cant reach the site

I am also in the process of slowly moving away from Mac OS X as my main platform. Since the Mac Pro is really new and nice I have finally decided to use it for another platform. I am familiar with Linux and SUSE Linux. Ultimately I want to run some version of SUSE Linux (recommend one, doesn't have to be free as in no money) and Xen. Here are the individual questions: Which version of SUSE Linux should I use and how do I install it on a Mac Pro? Note that the distribution must come with usable Xen. I am willing to pay. I assume Xen will work on my computer (it has VT support etc.). Is my assumption correct? I want to run Windows 7 and another instance of SUSE Linux under Xen. Is it possible to run Mac OS X Server under Xen (on a Mac Pro)? Which email client under Linux supports imap is is best-suited for integrating with MobileMe? Does SUSE Linux support the ATI Radeon HD 4870 and the Apple Cinema Display 1920 x 1200 resolution? What else should I take into account?
