  • CSS Issue in Firefox/IE

    I'm working on a site's CSS and am running across an issue with the body margin section. If you look at this in Firefox and then IE, you can see the line isn't lined up right in Firefox, but it is in IE. (In the black header section). Here is what I have for the body tag, It's something with the margin and I can't figure it out: body { margin: -2px; padding: 0px; background: #E7E7E7 url(images/bg01.jpg) repeat-x left top; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; color: #888888; } Thank you for any responses!

    Im writing a PyGI app where I'd like to show a list of matching applications from the Ubuntu Software Centre in an auto-completion text entry or dropdwon. I haven't yet figured out the best way to present the information, I just want to make it easier for the user to type the name of an application. But before that, I'd like to figure out how to get the data. Is there an API to get a list of all applications from the Software Centre, or indirectly through the Applications Dash in Unity?

  • IE7: container of hidden Div displays incorrectly

    There is a search box div that contains a boxhead div and a boxbody div. Inside the boxbody div, there is a searchToggle div. When the user clicks a certain link on the page, the display style property of the searchToggle div is toggled between block and none. The 2 background-images for the body of the search box are set via the css of the searchBox div and the boxbody div. In IE7, when the searchToggle div is hidden, the background-image from the searchBox div extends on the left more than it should. It shows up correctly when the display of the searchToggle div is block. Everything show up correctly, in both cases in IE8 and FF. Any ideas why this is happening?     I'm starting to get sick of IE's random problems. Page link. (MVA 25%) This works in every other browser but not IE. Why? Why not? Just why? Any help at all would be very much appreciated.

I am putting together a pure-CSS dropdown menu (mostly a learning exercise) and have hit a point in IE where the submenu items are flickering as the mouse moves around within the <li> but outside the inner <a>.   • I just don't know what it is, tried everything, IE 7 bug

    Has anyone seen this bug? I have a sidebar with a ul nav background image for the hover state, floated right, looks great in all browsers. Then...I added another div underneath it for ad space. inside, there's an anchored image. That image tucks underneath the background image of the nav, but only in IE7 (i abandoned trying to please ie6). So I took it out of the sidebar, played with float, display,height hacks, but nothing works I can declare a large top margin with some more top padding do get it to clear but it breaks the design. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. so it displays with this huge gap in chrome, FF, safari but this tiny space between in IE. i even tried creating a div called clear and put a top margin there. I have spent hours trying to find someone with the same problem but to no avail. Any suggestions?   • IE7 is messing up the z-index property with my subnav (although I've already fixed that!)

    OK, so I had this issue with my jQuery subnav in IE7 where it was scrolling down behind the main content after the header. Did a fair bit of research and found a great fix involving simply applying a z-index value to the header, and one to the main content. All was well. Or so I thought. Turns out IE7 is still messing up the subnav z-index within the header itself. The subnav still drops down behind the tagline, which is also part of the header. Particularly when you hit the subnav on the "Help Now" tab. (again, IE7 only) http://betawww.helpcurenow.org I've applied z-index values to both the subnav and the tagline, but that did not resolve the issue as did adding z-index values for the header and maincontent divs. Any tips? Did I specify my z-index improperly with the subnav? (should I have applied to the parent element?)

  • CSS sticky footer makes scroll bar unscrollable in IE 8
