  • Setting up a multi-site CMS, collecting thoughts about the DB schema

    Hello all, I'm collecting some thoughts about creating a multisite CMS. In my opinion there are two major approaches. All data is stored into 1 database, giving me the advantage of single point of updates; Seperated databases, so each client has its own database. Giving me the advantage to measure bandwith. Option 1 gives me the disadvantage of measuring bandwith while option is giving me the disadvantage of a single point of update structure. Are there any generic approaches for creating a sort of update system? So my clients can download a small package (maybe a zip with a conf file to tell the updatescript where to put all the files and how to extend the database??) Do you guys have some thougths about the best solution for a situation like this? I have my own webserver, full access to all resources and I'm developing in PHP with MySQL as DBMS.   • Using ReadOnlyCollection preventing me from setting up a bi-directional many-to-many relationship

    I'm using NHibernate to persist a many-to-many relation between Users and Networks. I've set up both the User and Network class as follows, exposing each's collections as ReadOnlyCollections to prevent direct access to the underlying lists. I'm trying to make sure that the only way a User can be added to a Network is by using its "JoinNetwork" function. However, I can't seem to figure out how to add the User to the Network's list of users since its collection is readonly. public class User { private ISet<Network> _Networks = new HashedSet<Network>(); public ReadOnlyCollection<Network> Networks { get { return new List<Network>(_Networks).AsReadOnly(); } } public void JoinNetwork(Network network) { _Networks.Add(network); // How do I add the current user to the Network's list of users? } } public class Network { private ISet<User> _Users = new HashedSet<User>(); public ReadOnlyCollection<User> Users { get { return new List<User>(_Users).AsReadOnly(); } } }

  • setting source classpath in eclipse with stupid project structure

    What do you guys do, when you have huge project built with ant for instance, where the source folders are right bellow the root project folder, for building classpath from source files ? putting entire project as a source folder is nonsense. Putting separate folders as source folders can't be done if they are part of the package hierarchy and the only thing I could think of, is to copy the source folders into a separate folder and add it then as source folder which is weird but I don't know how else to do it. Having to duplicate sources just because of the eclipse way of making classpath and also because of somebody doing stupid project structure

  • Setting Parameters from another Parameter In SSRS

    I was able to get this working is SSRS 2008, but do to the fact that my company only has 2005 servers I need to downgrade the report to 2005. The idea is for a given person name there are two key fields EntityType and EntityId So I have a parameter from a dataset where the Label is the Name and the value is EntityType_EntityId I use the split function to take the left and right sides of from _ In 2008, I set the query parameters of the dataset to the split function and it works In 2005, I set the Default Value of each Report Parameters Now when I run the report and put textboxes showing the value of the parameters, the values are shown correctly but the query does not run. I am guessing that this is a lifecycle issue being Get Name Parameter Run Report THEN Set Parameters = Split of Name But the problem with that is the second time I run the report I should get result and I do not. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong. I guess I can pass in the underscore delimted string to the stored procedure and parse it there, but my question is can this be done in the report? Reason being other callers will pass in the parameters as two seperate values.

  • WPF - Setting ComboBox.SelectedItem in XAML based on matching object

    Hi, so, I have templated combobox that is basically acting as a simple colour palette. It is populated with a list of SolidColorBrush objects. Fine. Now, I have some data that holds the hex value of the current colour. I have a converter that converts the hex into a SolidColorBrush. Also fine. Now, I want to set the SelectedItem property of the combobox based on the colour from my datasource. Since my combo is populated with objects of type SolidColourBrush, and my binding converter is returning a SolidColorBrush, I assumed it would be as simple as saying: SelectedItem="{Binding Color, Converter={StaticResource StringToBrush}}" However... it doesn't work :( I've tested that the binding is working behind the scenes by using the exact same value for the Background property of the combobox. It works fine. So, clearly I can't just say SelectedItem = [something] where that [something] is basically an object equal to the item I want to be selected. What is the right way to do this? Surely it's possible in a XAML-only styley using binding, and I don't have to do some nasty C# iterating through all items in the combobox trying to find a match (that seems awfully old-school)...?     For example calling exit(100) would exit the application with status 100, and calling raise(SIGABRT) aborts the application with status 134 while creating a core dump. But what if I want the core dump with status 100 or any other arbitrary value. How can I do that ? I know there are several signals that triggers a core dump, but they seem to have fixed exit statuses.

    My app allows the user to update a field via a drop down box using jeditable. When the program is loaded i created this function to get the selected value and set it as the selected value in jeditable. If i have it display the workingString, it correctly displays the entire string, but for some reason, it isn't correctly making the array using the commas. i tried it without using the data file and it worked fine, so the problem comes from how I am importing the data. ideas?

We're using this fact and this tip to redirect stderr to a logger at a specific log level. slf4j doesn't have a generic log() method that I can find. Does that mean there's no way to implement the above?

    I've got a UserControl that contains a button and some other controls: <UserControl> <StackPanel> <Button x:Name="button" /> ... </StackPanel> </UserControl> When I create a new instance of that control, I want to get at the Button's Command property: <my:GreatUserControl TheButton.Command="{Binding SomeCommandHere}"> </my:GreatUserControl> Of course, the "TheButton.Command" thing doesn't work. So my question is: Using XAML, how can I set the .Command property of the button inside my user control?

    When deploying my published website to the host (Its a shared hosting plan) I get this error: [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] System.Web.PipelineStepManager.ResumeSteps(Exception error) +929 System.Web.HttpApplication.BeginProcessRequestNotification(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb) +91 System.Web.HttpRuntime.ProcessRequestNotificationPrivate(IIS7WorkerRequest wr, HttpContext context) +508 I found this question which describes my problem, but I'm not initializing NHibernate in Application_Start, it is already being done in Init. The only other cause of this error I can find is that the Global.asax file is inheriting from a class other than HttpApplication, but I'm not doing that either. This is pretty much the Global.asax file protected void Application_Start() { AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); RegisterRoutes(RouteTable.Routes); } public override void Init() { base.Init(); if (_wasNHibernateInitialized) return; // Initialize NHibernate // Other setup like the StructureMap initialization } Is there any other reason why an ASP.NET MVC application would give this error when being deployed to IIS7?

The code sets the GNOME terminal title to user@somehost (obviously with the real user name and host name). However some hosts have tcsh as login shell, so I need to translate the code into tcsh and add it to the .tcshrc . I considered to somehow source another file with the bash code from inside the .tcshrc file, but I couldn't make it work.

  • Setting database-agnostic default column timestamp using Hibernate

    I'm working on a java project full of Hibernate (3.3.1) mapping files that have the following sort of declaration for most domain objects. <property name="dateCreated" generated="insert"> <column name="date_created" default="getdate()" /> </property> The problem here is that getdate() is an MSSQL specific function, and when I'm using something like H2 to test subsections of the project, H2 screams that getdate() isn't a recognized function. It's own timestamping function is current_timestamp(). I'd like to be able to keep working with H2 for testing, and wanted to know whether there was a way of telling Hibernate "use this database's own mechanism for retrieving the current timestamp". With H2, I've come up with the following solution. CREATE ALIAS getdate AS $$ java.util.Date now() { return new java.util.Date(); } $$; CALL getdate(); It works, but is obviously H2 specific. I've tried extending H2Dialect and registering the function getdate(), but that doesn't seem to be invoked when Hibernate is creating tables. Is it possible to abstract the idea of a default timestamp away from the specific database engine?

    All, I'm going through the Friedman & Felleisen book "A Little Java, A Few Patterns". I'm trying to type the examples in DrJava, but I'm getting some errors. I'm a beginner, so I might be making rookie mistakes. Here is what I have set-up: public class ALittleJava { //ABSTRACT CLASS POINT abstract class Point { abstract int distanceToO(); } class CartesianPt extends Point { int x; int y; int distanceToO(){ return((int)Math.sqrt(x*x+y*y)); } CartesianPt(int _x, int _y) { x=_x; y=_y; } } class ManhattanPt extends Point { int x; int y; int distanceToO(){ return(x+y); } ManhattanPt(int _x, int _y){ x=_x; y=_y; } } } And on the main's side: public class Main{ public static void main (String [] args){ Point y = new ManhattanPt(2,8); System.out.println(y.distanceToO()); } } The compiler cannot find the symbols Point and ManhattanPt in the program. If I precede each by ALittleJava., I get another error in the main, i.e., an enclosing instance that contains ALittleJava.ManhattanPt is required I've tried to find ressources on the 'net, but the book must have a pretty confidential following and I couldn't find much.   • Setting the value of a radio button with JQuery (ASP.NET MVC)

    I have 2 "lists" of (4) radio buttons {value = "0", "1", "2", "3"} in all lists. The first list needs to drive the second list (which may occur multiple times). So if an option is selected in the first list, the SAME option is selected in the second list. It sounds weird, but it has a purpose. The first list is more of a "select all" type of list, and the second list is an individual selection list(s). I have the value of the "selectall" list via JQuery: $("#selectalllist").change(function() { var str = $('input[name=selectall]:checked').val(); $(".radiolist").attr('checked', str); //This is my thinking }); The current selected value is stored in the str variable, and that is seemingly correct (I used alert to tell me what is stored, and it comes up what I expect). I just need to set the value of the next set of lists. The second line of the code I thought would set the checked value of $(".radiolist") to the stored value, but it ALWAYS set the value to the last entry (value = "3"). I'm wondering if I have the wrong attribute in the .attr('', str) call? Any thoughts?

  • Setting style on first and last visible TabItem of TabControl

    I want to set a style on the first and last TabItems in a TabControl, and have them updated as the visibility of the TabItems is changed. I can't see a way to do so with triggers. What we're after looks like this: | | And the visibility of TabItems are determined by binding. I do have it working in code. On TabItem visibility changed, enumerate through TabItems until you find the first visible one. Set the style on that one. For all other visible TabItems, set them to the pointy style (so that the previously first visible one is now pointy). Then start from the end until you find a visible TabItem and set the last style on that one. (This also lets us address an issue with TabControl where it will display the content of a non-visible TabItem if none of the visible TabItems are selected.) There's undoubtably improvements I could make to my method, but I'm not convinced that it IS the right approach. How would you approach this?

    I've got a JTextArea which has the following text "Text1 Text2 Text3". Is there a way I can make all of them different fonts? E.g. "Text1" is bold, "Text2" is italic and "Text3" is normal? I know I can create a Font object, however I can only apply it the JTextArea object. Thanks.

  • MSBuild - setting a reference path

    I have several assemblies my project is dependant upon. These are stored in the Project's directory under the "Dependencies" folder. So something like this. Solution - Project - Dependancies FunkyAssembly.dll - bin - Debug - Release SomeCode.cs I've referenced FunkyAssembly.dll using Browse and in project.csproj I see <Reference Include="FunkyAssembly"> <HintPath>Dependancies\FunkyAssembly.dll</HintPath> </Reference> So far so good - except after a release build FunkyAssembly.dll is copied to the Release directory (not a problem in itself) but then future debug builds will reference this copy rather than the copy in Dependencies. You can see this if you at Path in the reference properties. This means that if Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll is updated the build won't pick it up as its referencing the old copy in bin/Release. Any way to FORCE the damn thing to pick up Dependencies\FunkyAssembly.dll rather than HINT?
