  • iOS app rejected by itunes team for copyright when embedding video from youtube

    - by Thiru Subramaniam
I have created a simple app for my client with his selection of youtube videos embedded via iframe player and html5. The app got approved in android store whereas itunes rejected it claiming below, "Apps may not use protected third party material such as trademarks, copyrights, patents or violate 3rd party terms of use. Authorization to use such material must be provided upon request" Below is the link for the app in android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jayam.shortfilms While I share videos using the html code obtained from youtube share button, still apple is claiming that I should provide evidence of copyright from each video owner. Any experiences of this kind will be very helpful for me.

  • Adding methods to an Objective C class interface is optional?

    - by Steve the Plant
Coming from a C++ background, one thing that confuses me about Objective C is the fact that you can add a method to a class without actually specifying it in the class interface. So I had a barrage of questions: Why would someone choose to not add the method in the class interface? Is it simply because of visibility? Methods without a declaration in the interface are private? Is declaring methods in a class interface just optional? Is it different for overriding a base class' method?

  • NSMutableArray memory management

    - by chicken
NSMutableArray *a1 = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSMutableArray *a2 = [NSMutableArray array]; TempObj *obj = [[TempObj alloc] init]; //assume this line is repeated for each obj [a1 addObject:obj]; [a1 addObject:obj2]; [a1 addObject:obj3]; [a1 addObject:obj4]; [obj release]; [obj2 release]; [obj3 release]; [obj4 release]; [a1 release]; Ok so a2 is an autorelease obj so i dont have to call release on it? Also how do you know when you get an autorelease object? And for a1, i dont have to loop through the array and release each object first? What if i called [a1 removeAllObjects]; does that call [[a1 objectAtIndex:#] release]; Am i supposed to release those objects after ive added them to the array?

  • iOS Core Data migration: moving something from an entity into a file

    - by Tim Sullivan
I have a scenario where I'm moving the contents of a blob stored in a core data entity into a file. I need a way to export that data during a migration, where I know the entity that's being converted and save the blob to a file, writing the location of that file into the converted entity's appropriate attribute. I can't seem to find a way to do this. The docs regarding the Three Stage Migration seem to indicate what can be done, but I'm not sure where to define things, or what exactly to define.

  • Object-C: initWithContentsOfURL returning null

    - by AragornSG
    Hey! I'm working on an app that would display a remote html and use local images, so what I'm trying to do is download the HTML of the website and display it as a "local" page, that would have access to images in my bundle. For some reason I can't get initWithContentsOfURL to work. I checked all manuals and examples I could find and it seems that I'm doing it correctly, but the thing just won't work, returns null all the time. The same page loaded with NSURLRequest requestWithURL works fine. Appreciate your help! Here is the code: - (void)awakeFromNib { appURL = @"http://dragontest.fantasy-fan.org"; notConnectedHTML = @"Could not connect."; NSString *seedString = [[NSString alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@/seed.php", appURL]]]; NSString *HTMLdata = @""; if (seedString = @"(null)") { NSLog(@"Can't connect on awakeFromNib."); HTMLdata = notConnectedHTML; }else { HTMLdata = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"<body style='padding:0px;margin:0px;'>%@%@</body>", seedString, @"<br><img src='images/Default.png'>"]; } [homeView loadHTMLString:HTMLdata baseURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:[[NSBundle mainBundle] resourcePath]]]; }

  • CoreGraphics taking a while to show on a large view - can i get it to repeat pixels?

    - by Andrew
    This is my coregraphics code: void drawTopPaperBackground(CGContextRef context, CGRect rect) { CGRect paper3 = CGRectMake(10, 14, 300, rect.size.height - 14); CGRect paper2 = CGRectMake(13, 12, 294, rect.size.height - 12); CGRect paper1 = CGRectMake(16, 10, 288, rect.size.height - 10); //Shadow CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0,0), 10, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.5]CGColor]); CGPathRef path = createRoundedRectForRect(paper3, 0); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextFillPath(context); //Layers of paper //CGContextSaveGState(context); drawPaper(context, paper3); drawPaper(context, paper2); drawPaper(context, paper1); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); } void drawPaper(CGContextRef context, CGRect rect) { //Shadow CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0,0), 1, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.5]CGColor]); CGPathRef path = createRoundedRectForRect(rect, 0); CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextFillPath(context); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); //Gradient //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGColorRef startColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.92 alpha:1.0].CGColor; CGColorRef endColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.94 alpha:1.0].CGColor; CGRect firstHalf = CGRectMake(rect.origin.x, rect.origin.y, rect.size.width / 2, rect.size.height); CGRect secondHalf = CGRectMake(rect.origin.x + (rect.size.width / 2), rect.origin.y, rect.size.width / 2, rect.size.height); drawVerticalGradient(context, firstHalf, startColor, endColor); drawVerticalGradient(context, secondHalf, endColor, startColor); //CGContextRestoreGState(context); //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGRect redRect = rectForRectWithInset(rect, -1); CGMutablePathRef redPath = createRoundedRectForRect(redRect, 0); //CGContextSaveGState(context); CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, [[UIColor blackColor] CGColor]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextClip(context); CGContextAddPath(context, redPath); CGContextSetShadowWithColor(context, CGSizeMake(0, 0), 15.0, [[UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:0.1] CGColor]); CGContextStrokePath(context); CGContextRestoreGState(context); } The view is a UIScrollView, which contains a textview. Every time the user types something and goes onto a new line, I call [self setNeedsDisplay]; and it redraws the code. But when the view starts to get long - around 1000 height, it has very noticeable lag. How can i make this code more efficient? Can i take a line of pixels and make it just repeat that, or stretch it, all the way down?

  • Removing a UIView from its superView and expanding its frame to full screen

    - by Magic Bullet Dave
I have an object that is a subclass of UIView that can be added to a view hierarchy as a subView. I want to be able to remove the UIView from its superView and add it as a subView of the main window and then expand to full screen. Something along the lines of: // Remove from superView and add to mainWindow [self retain]; [self removeFromSuperView]; [self addSubView:mainWindow]; // Animate to full screen [UIView beginAnimations:@"expandToFullScreen" context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1.0]; self.frame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [self release]; Firstly am I on the right lines? Secondly, is there an easily way for the object to get a pointer to the mainWindow? Thanks Dave

  • Application Design in Interface Builder Challenge

    - by Sheehan Alam
I want to design an app that launches other sub-apps. Main View will contain 4 buttons. Clicking on each button respectively will launch the other sub-apps. Each sub-app will have a UITabBarController which has its own different views. At any point I want the user to be able to go back to the Main View from any of the sub-apps. I am not sure how to design this in IB.

  • Communicating between classes set up in nib, in code?

    - by cannyboy
A beginner's question: If, in your nib, you have the File's Owner linked to the ViewController class, and you also have a NSObject-derived class, how do you communicate between the ViewController class and the NSObject class within code? For instance, suppose ScientificCalculatorView.xib looks like this File's Owner (class: ScientificCalculatorViewController) FirstResponder View Calculator (an object that has been linked to the Calculator class) Obviously, I'd want Calculator to be reusable, so it could be used with a NormalCalculatorViewController or something like that. So that UI and the calculator code are separate. Does Calculator even need to be in the nib? It's a beginners question, but I'm just trying to get my head around it.

  • how do i get a layer's frame to automatically resize based on its superlayer's frame or its view's f

    - by Kevlar
I'm experimenting with using cagradientlayer to draw gradients in our app instead of having a subclass of uiview manage gradients. One snafu that i've come across is that when the view that has the gradient as a sublayer of its main layer gets resized to fit the data i am trying to show, the layer doesn't resize along with it. I end up having the gradient layer end at the original frame size while my view's frame is much larger. Is there a way to have the sublayer autoresize to fit its superlayer's frame, or the superlayer's view's frame?

  • Why am I getting a EXC_BAD_ACCESS in a NSTimer selector?

    - by AngeDeLaMort
I've got quite a weird problem. To make it short, i'll write some pseudo-code: init: create a dictionary and insert n elements. create a "repeat timer" and add it to the currentRunLoop using the timerRefresh selector. timerRefresh: using a list of keys, find the items in the dictionary if the item exists -> call a function So, for an unknown reason, I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS when I do: [item function]; But I traced the address I got from the dictionary items and it's ok. The ref count of the items in the dictionary is still 1. The {release, dealloc} of the items in the dictionary aren't called. Everything seems fine. Also, to make it worst, it works for some items. So, I'm wondering if there is a threading problem? or something else obscure? The callstack is quite simple: #0 0x93e0604b in objc_msgSend_fpret #1 0x00f3e6b0 in ?? #2 0x0001cfca in -[myObject functionm:] at myObject.m:000 #3 0x305355cd in __NSFireTimer #4 0x302454a0 in CFRunLoopRunSpecific #5 0x30244628 in CFRunLoopRunInMode #6 0x32044c31 in GSEventRunModal #7 0x32044cf6 in GSEventRun #8 0x309021ee in UIApplicationMain #9 0x000027e0 in main at main.m:14 So, any suggestion where to look would be appreciated.

  • Issue scrolling table view with content inset

    - by Rog
Hi all, I am experiencing a weird scrolling issue and I was hoping someone could give me a hand in trying to identify why this is happening. I have included the part of my code that I think is relevant to the question but am happy to update this post with whatever else is needed. I have implemented a pull to refresh view in the tableview's content inset area. The refresh fires an Async NSURLConnection that pulls data from a webserver, parses the relevant information and refreshes the table as required. This is where the refresh process kicks off: - (void)scrollViewDidEndDragging:(UIScrollView *)scrollView willDecelerate:(BOOL)decelerate{ if (scrollView.contentOffset.y <= - 65.0f && !self.reloading) { self.reloading = YES; [self reloadTableViewDataSource]; [refreshHeaderView setState:EGOOPullRefreshLoading]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.2]; self.tableView.contentInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(60.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f); [UIView commitAnimations]; } } Problem is if I start to scroll whilst the content inset is "visible" (i.e. during reload) I get this weird behaviour where my table sections do not scroll all the way to the top - see screenshot for a clear visual of what I am trying to describe here. I have included a couple of screenshots below that clearly identify what is happening at the moment. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on what I should be looking at to try and fix it? Many thanks in advance, Rog And this is the result if I start scrolling the table. The orange bit at the top of the image is the actual navigation bar, where I would expect the table section (date 1 December 2010) to be.

  • UIView animation problem

    - by FoJjen
    I try to make a UIImageView open like a hatch, and under the "hatchView" its anoter imageView but when I start the animation its like the view under gets over and cover the animation, When the animation gets over the imageView the its getting visibel. its works fine if a remove the imageView thats under. Here is the code for animation view. - (void) touchesEnded:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *) event { if (!isHatchOpen) { if (hatchView.layer.anchorPoint.x != 0.0f) { hatchView.layer.anchorPoint = CGPointMake(0.0f, 0.5f); hatchView.center = CGPointMake(hatchView.center.x - hatchView.bounds.size.width/2.0f, hatchView.center.y); } UITouch *touch = [touches anyObject]; CGPoint location = [touch locationInView:hatchView]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; float pct = location.x / 320.0f; float rad = acosf(pct); CATransform3D transform = CATransform3DMakeRotation(-rad+5, 0.0f, -1.0f, 0.0f); transform.m14 = (1.0 / -2000) * acosf(pct); hatchView.layer.transform = transform; [UIView commitAnimations]; isHatchOpen = YES; } else { if (hatchView.layer.anchorPoint.x != 0.0f) { hatchView.layer.anchorPoint = CGPointMake(0.0f, 0.5f); hatchView.center = CGPointMake(hatchView.center.x - hatchView.bounds.size.width/2.0f, hatchView.center.y); } [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:1]; [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; [UIView setAnimationBeginsFromCurrentState:YES]; CATransform3D transform = CATransform3DMakeRotation(0, 0.0f, -1.0f, 0.0f); transform.m14 = 0; hatchView.layer.transform = transform; // Commit the changes [UIView commitAnimations]; isHatchOpen = NO; } } And here a add the Views hatchView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 1, frame.size.width-1, frame.size.height-2)]; [self addSubview:hatchView]; imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(1, 1, frame.size.width-2, frame.size.height-2)]; imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit; [self insertSubview:imageView belowSubview:hatchView];

Is there a way to detect just 2 distinct touches? I just want to track the touches for my two buttons, which is a sprite, but whenever I have another touch other than my first two touches, it affects my touch with my button. Is there a way to get rid of that third touch? I wish you could help me with this problem.Thank You!

  • Performing multiple fetches in Core Data within the same view

    - by yesimarobot
I have my CD store setup and everything is working. Once my initial fetch is performed, I need to perform several fetches based on calculations using the data from my first fetch. The examples provided from Apple are great, and helped me get everything going but I'm struggling with executing successive fetches. Any suggestions, or tutorial links are appreciated. Table View loads data from CD store. When a user taps a row it pushes a detail view The detail view loads details from CD. [THE ABOVE STEPS ARE ALL WORKING] I perform several calculations on the data fetched in the detail view. I need to then perform several other fetches based on the results of my calculations.

  • How to find the only UILabel in a view and hide it?

    - by tarnfeld
I am adding a UILabel as a subview to a UIView and sometime later I want to hide it. It is assigned to a variable but I don't think setting the variables property Hidden after it's been added to the view will work (well it doesn't seem to anyway). Is there a way to loop through the subviews in a view and then find the one that has a specific tag or is of type UILabel that I could then remove?

  • Voice Control iOS

    - by Marc Tanis
I would like to build a simple reader app for the iPad 2 that would allow users to navigate/read via voice controls. The app would allow the user to enter a mode where the microphone was live and listened for predefined keywords like 'down', 'up', 'next', 'back', 'home', etc. I don't want to reinvent the wheel on this so I'm just wondering first, if someone has done this already and if not, are there any good tutorials or SDKs available to help with recording someone's voice, and then comparing future output to see if it matches, or just dealing with the microphone in general?

  • How to check if location services are enabled for a particular app prior to iOS 4.2?

    - by NobleK
Hello How can I check if the user has allowed location for mu app? Normally I would use authorizationStatus method of the CLLocationManager class, but it is only available in iOS 4.2 and newer. Is it possible to achieve this somehow while still using SDK 4.2, so that the app can still run on devices with older versions of iOS, or do I have to downgrade the SDK? And along the same line, I need a similar alternative for the locationServicesEnabled method prior to iOS 4.0. Thanx
