    Hi, I've got a table which has an id and a clob content like: Create Table v_example_l ( nip number, xmlcontent clob ); We insert our data: Insert into V_EXAMPLE_L (NIP,XMLCONTENT) Values (17852,'<section><block><name>delta</name><content>548484646846484</content></block></section>'); Insert into V_EXAMPLE_L (NIP,XMLCONTENT) Values (17852,'<section><block><name>omega</name><content>545648468484</content></block></section>'); Insert into V_EXAMPLE_L (NIP,XMLCONTENT) Values (17852,'<section><block><name>gamma</name><content>54564846qsdqsdqsdqsd8484</content></block></section>'); I'm trying to do a function that concatenates the rows of the clob that gone be the result of a select, i mean without having to give multiple parameter about the name of table or such, i should only give here the column that contain the clobs, and it should handle the rest.     Pretend I have a cupcake_rating table: id | cupcake | delicious_rating -------------------------------------------- 1 | Strawberry | Super Delicious 2 | Strawberry | Mouth Heaven 3 | Blueberry | Godly 4 | Blueberry | Super Delicious I want to find all the cupcakes that have a 'Super Delicious' AND 'Mouth Heaven' rating. I feel like this is easily achievable using a group by clause and maybe a having. I was thinking: select distinct(cupcake) from cupcake_rating group by cupcake having delicious_rating in ('Super Delicious', 'Mouth Heaven') I know I can't have two separate AND statements. I was able to achieve my goal using: select distinct(cupcake) from cupcake_rating where cupcake in ( select cupcake from cupcake_rating where delicious_rating = 'Super Delicious' ) and cupcake in ( select cupcake from cupcake_rating where delicious_rating = 'Mouth Heaven' ) This will not be satisfactory because once I add a third type of rating I am looking for, the query will take hours (there are a lot of cupcake ratings).

  • Parsing pipe delimited string into columns?

    Hello, I have a column with pipe separated values such as: '23|12.1| 450|30|9|78|82.5|92.1|120|185|52|11' I want to parse this column to fill a table with 12 corresponding columns: month1, month2, month3...month12. So month1 will have the value 23, month2 the value 12.1 etc... Is there a way to parse it by a loop or delimeter instead of having to separate one value at a time using substr? Thanks.

    OK, so say I have a table with 500K rows, then I ad-hoc query with unsupported indexing which requires a full table scan. I would like to immediately view the first rows returned while the full table scan continues. Then I want to scroll thru the next results. In the meantime, I would like to display the progress of the table scan, example: "SEARCHING.. FOUND 23 OF 500,000 ROWS SO FAR". If I scroll too far ahead, I want to display a message like: "REACHED LAST ROW IN LOOK-AHEAD BUFFER.. QUERY HAS NOT COMPLETED".. Can this be done? Maybe like: spawn/exec, declare scroll cursor, open, fetch, etc.?

    Hello there, First: Thanks! I finished my other project and the big surprise: now everything works as it should :-) Thanks to some helpful thinkers of SO! So here I go with the next project. I'd like to get something like this: SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE field1=content AND field2=content2 ... As you noticed this can be a very long where-clause. tablename is a static property which does not change. field1, field2 , ... (!) and the contents can change. So I need an option to build up a SQL statement in PL/SQL within a recursive function. I dont really know what to search for, so I ask here for links or even a word to search for.. Please dont start to argue about wether the recursive function is really needed or what its disadvanteges - this is not in question ;-) If you could help me to create something like an SQL-String which will later be able to do a successful SELECT this would be very nice! Iam able to go through the recursive function and make a longer string each time, but I cannot make an SQL statement from it.. Oh, one additional thing: I get the fields and contents by a xmlType (xmldom.domdocument etc) I can get the field and the content for example in a clob from the xmltype

    What's the difference between these two queries? I've been resistant to jumping on the ANSI-syntax bandwagon because I have not been able to unravel various syntactical ambiguities. Is 1) returning the product of the join and only then filtering out those joined records which have weight = 500? And is 2) filtering out those prior to the join? Is 2 bad syntax? Why might I use that? 1: SELECT SOMETHING FROM FOO INNER JOIN BAR ON FOO.NAME = BAR.NAME WHERE BAR.WEIGHT < 500 2: SELECT SOMETHING FROM FOO INNER JOIN BAR ON FOO.NAME = BAR.NAME AND BAR.WEIGHT < 500

    I have this procedure i my package: PROCEDURE pr_export_blob( p_name IN VARCHAR2, p_blob IN BLOB, p_part_size IN NUMBER); I would like for parameter p_blob to be either BLOB or CLOB. When I call this procedure with BLOB parameter, everything is fine. When I call it with CLOB parameter, I get compilation error: PLS-00306: wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'pr_export_blob' Is there a way to write a procedure, that can take either of those types as parameter? Some kind of a superclass maybe?
