• howto hide outline on a form

  i have to design a form with an input inside it. i use background image on the input so it would look like a button. so every time somebody click it, then it would send $POST, a behavior i want to achieve. But the problem is about the outline around the form. The outline show when we click the form. It's minor, but it would be great to make the form (or input) lost it outline. i test it using Firefox 3.6 and flock. Both of them show the outline behavior that i want to avoid

• How can I calculate data for a boxplot (quartiles, median) in a Ralis app on Heroku? ( Heroku uses P

  I'm trying to calculate the data needed to generate a box plot which means I need to figure out the 1st and 3rd Quartiles along with the median. I have found some solutions for doing it in Postgresql however they seem to depend on either PL/Python or PL/R which it seems like Heroku does not have either enabled for their postgresql databases. In fact I ran "select lanname from pg_language;" and only got back "internal". I also found some code to do it in pure ruby but that seems somewhat inefficient to me. I'm rather new to Box Plots, Postgresql, and Ruby on Rails so I'm open to suggestions on how I should handle this. There is a possibility to have a lot of data which is why I'm concerned with performance however if the solution ends up being too complex I may just do it in ruby and if my application gets big enough to warrant it get my own Postgresql I can host somewhere else. *note: since I was only able to post one link, cause I'm new, I decided to share a pastie with some relevant information

• Cannot Debug Unmanaged Dll from C#

  I have a DLL that was written in C++ and called from a C# application. The DLL is unmanaged code. If I copy the DLL and its .pdb files with a post build event to the C# app's debug execution dir I still can't hit any break points I put into the DLL code. The break point has a message attached to it saying that "no symbols have been loaded for this document". What else do I have to do to get the debugging in the dll source? I have "Tools-Options-Debugging-General-Enable only my code" Disabled. The DLL is being compiled with "Runtime tracking and disable optimizations (/ASSEMBLYDEBUG)" and Generate Debug Info to "Yes (/DEBUG)"

• Help with Sharepoint (WSS 3.0) and JQuery

  Ok so the scenario is as follows: Have a sharepoint site setup on Microsoft Online, basically this site is a job booking system and is based on a custom sharepoint list. What I am trying to achieve is to extract List Items where the Invoiced Column is set to "No". Eventually I would like to post this to xero.com using their API as it accepts XML through the API Endpoints. Have tried using JQuery and JPoint but my limited programming skills are holding me back. Could anyone offer me some advice or point me in the right direction of someone that could help? am willing to pay someone if they can help me with getting this to work :)

  Hi, First post here in SO. I have a question within the area of CMS (RedDot) and possible integration of some Lotus Notes functionality. I'm very fresh in both areas. From my short research (did not find very much material regarding RedDot) I got the following: Contents in RedDot CMS can be accessed (and modified?) via the RQL API. (basicly xml messages) There exists a API developed for Java (jRQL). Lotus Notes has a developer kit called Lotus Expeditor Toolkit. My vague question is something like this: Is it possible to integrate a some kind of "content approver/manager" or any other useful CMS functionality from Lotus Notes into the RedDot CMS system? In that case I was thinking of using the jRQL and Lotus Expediton Toolkit so that the back end is fully using Java. Or is there any better solution? Regards Fredrik

• ASP.NET MVC: Triggering an action before posting to Paypal payment gateway

  I'm in the middle of developing an e-commerce site that is using Paypal as it's payment gateway. All I want to do is run some code before the user heads off to Paypal to pay for their order, but I have no idea how to do it. The user should click a submit button, changes are made (in this case, the status of the order), and then the user is redirected to the payment gateway. Eg: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult GoToPaypal(FormCollection collection) { //change order status //send user to paypal where they pay for their order } So my question is how do you do application stuff and then redirect to paypal's payment gateway? Example HTML and C# would be lovely :)

• ASP.Net Cross Page Posting

  Currently I have two pages: The first page contains an input form, and the 2nd page generates an excel document. The input form's button posts to this 2nd page. What I'd like to do is add a second button which also posts to the 2nd page; however, I'll need requests created from this new button to act differently, which brings me to my question: Is there a way I can tell, from the 2nd page, which button was pressed to submit the request? The main reason I'm asking is I'd like to re-use the 2nd page's logic in parsing the information from the first page if possible; I'd rather not have to copy it to a new page and have the new button post to that. I am writing my first app in ASP.NET MVC Framework and i have a problem with checking privileges to use instances of model classes (read, edit). How should i resolve that problem?

  If you look at the NerdDinner example of creating and editing dinners then you see they use a partial (ViewUserControl or ASCX) DinnerForm to put the functionality of creating and editing dinners into one file because it is essential the same and they use it using RenderPartial("DinnerForm"). This approach seems fine for me but I've run into a problem where you have to add additonal route values or html properties to the Form tag. This picks up the current action and controller automatically: <% using (Html.BeginForm()) { %> However, if I use another BeginForm() overload which allows to pass in enctype or any other attribute I have to do it like this: <% using ("Create", "Section", new { modal = true }, FormMethod.Post, new { enctype = "multipart/form-data" })) and as you can see we lose the ability to automatically detect in which View we are calling RenderPartial("OurCreateEditFormPartial"). We can't have hardcoded values in there because in Edit View this postback will fail or won't postback to the right controller action. What should I do in this case?

  I'm creating a Ruby on Rails application, and I'm trying to create/login/logout users. Other things such as questions_asked, reputation, etc. are set by the application, so should be initialized when we create new users. Right now, I'm just setting each of those manually in the create method for UsersController: def create @user = User.new(params[:user]) @user.reputation = 0 @user.questions_asked = 0 @user.answers_given = 0 @user.request = nil ... end Is there a more elegant/efficient way of doing this?

  Hi, I saw any post about Reachability but people doesn't really give the exact answer to the problem. • How to limit a google calendar xml / rss feed by date range (not working!!)

  For the life of me I cannot get my google calendar xml feed to only display events within a certain date range. I know that start-min and start-max are supposed to limit the output (according to these posts: (links to posts deleted because I am a newbie and can only post one hyperlink argh) BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO WORK. It keeps showing lot of things outside the range. I created a sample calendar and made it public. It is some events the first week of april. Can anyone show me how to construct a request that only returns those three events from the first week in april? I'll GLADLY and GRATEFULLY paypal $10 to anyone who helps me break through on this. • Drupal / ubercart remote node addition

  I am developing my first large Ubercart site, which needs to have a daily product database update from an existing xBase (DBF format). The conversion from DBF to MySQL/PHP is handled on the same server as the Drupal installation, using some custom scripting I have done, and works well. However, the next step is to get my script to talk to Drupal and update the product nodes with pricing/stock level/etc. Googling hasn't resulted in any good hits, at least in PHP terms. So how do I go about this? Can I just use a POST to a particular page in Drupal, ie RESTful, or do I have to use some more arcane xmlrpc method?

I need 3 actions. 1) When user click in textarea i want display DIV what will contain preview, i want animate opening. 2) When user typing, i want dynamical load parsed by PHP code to DIV. (i'm still thinking what will be best option... refresh every 2 seconds, or maybe we can detect and refresh after 1 second of inactivity [stop typing]) 3) When user click outside textarea i want close preview div with animation.   Hi; sorry if I'm not clear, it's not really clear in my head too (especially after trying to find my way in other posts :p) What I'm willing to do is creating DataGrids in code, with zero to numerous columns containing a button, which will call one same function but with a "parameter" (different for each column). Here is what I got so far : DataGrid created in code DataTemplate defined in the xaml resources (with a button) DataGridTemplateColumn which uses the above DataTemplate Is it possible to bind the button's properties (in the DataTemplate), to the DataGridTemplateColumn properties (in my case, the column header would be ok), and how? Is there a way to get an access to the DataTemplate components (the button for example) in code, and modify their properties? Is it possible (and not hazardous) to create a DataTemplate in code? I declared mine in xaml because I found a post advising to do so instead of code. Thanks for your help.

  Hi, follow this question, I was able to set some textareas in my admin page as richtext inputs. The most voted answer suggests to follow an example and is what i did. Also, it talks about a problem concerning "blank pages". I'm having the same problem and I'm not able to solve it. I have my media files served by a different server, so MEDIA_URL points to a different host with a different port. To simulate this in my dev environment, I also serve media files from a different port. Debugging the failing javascript, Chrome yelds: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://localhost:8000/admin/blog/post/add/ from frame with URL http://localhost:88/s3mangerie/js/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/image.htm. Domains, protocols and ports must match. How to solve this problem? Thanks

• Shipping Integration into a Rails App

  I'm working on integrating a shipping solution into a Rails ecommerce app. We're only going to use one shipping provider. So the question is: Fedex or UPS? I'm wondering what Rails developers think about the tech side of this question. What do you think about the APIs, ease of integration, focus on developer's needs between Fedex and UPS? I was leaning towards Fedex, but from looking at the developers resources sections of both sites, it seems that UPS might be more developer friendly. Also, I'm going to be using Shopify's active_shipping gem: http://github.com/Shopify/active_shipping And I also based my app off the Spree Ecommerce solution, but I don't think that's particularly relevant to the question. Spree wrote a wrapper to integrate active_shipping with the Spree system. I gave away all my points, so SO wont' let me post another link in this question. • Sorting By Multiple Conditions in Ruby

  I have a collection of Post objects and I want to be able to sort them based on these conditions: First, by category (news, events, labs, portfolio, etc.) Then by date, if date, or by position, if a specific index was set for it Some posts will have dates (news and events), others will have explicit positions (labs, and portfolio). I want to be able to call posts.sort!, so I've overridden <=>, but am looking for the most effective way of sorting by these conditions. Below is a pseudo method: def <=>(other) # first, everything is sorted into # smaller chunks by category self.category <=> other.category # then, per category, by date or position if self.date and other.date self.date <=> other.date else self.position <=> other.position end end It seems like I'd have to actually sort two separate times, rather than cramming everything into that one method. Something like sort_by_category, then sort!. What is the most ruby way to do this?

  How to call a method on a server side from JSON.
