• Can't view order in magento

  Hi, I've been setting up a fresh magento 1.4.0.1 install, working great so far. I did some test orders just to see. Everything works fine, but when I click on "view order" under "my orders", I get a bunch of error messages: There has been an error processing your request Notice: iconv_substr() • Grails - Simple hasMany Problem - Using CheckBoxes rather than HTML Select in create.gsp

  My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I have the actual source in a Google Code Project but the following should illustrate the problem. class Person { String name static hasMany[skills:Skill] static constraints = { id (visible:false) skills (nullable:false, blank:false) } } class Skill { String name String description static constraints = { id (visible:false) name (nullable:false, blank:false) description (nullable:false, blank:false) } } If you use this model and def scaffold for the two Controllers then you end up with a form like this that doesn't work; My own attempt to get this to work enumerates the Skills as checkboxes and looks like this; But when I save the Volunteer the skills are null! When the volunteer is saved the 'Skills' are ignored and not commited to the database despite the in memory version created clearly does have the items. Is it not possible to pass the Skills at construction time? There must be a way round this? I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. If you think this should 'just work' then a link to a working example would be great. If I use the HTML Select then it works fine! With both style of form the Volunteer instance is created with the Skills correctly referenced in the 'Skills' variable. • "Launch Failed. Binary Not Found." Snow Leopard and Eclipse C/C++ IDE issue.

  Not a question, I've just scoured the internet in search of a solution for this problem and thought I'd share it with the good folks of SO. I'll put it in plain terms so that it's accessible to newbs. :) (Apologies if this is the wrong place -- just trying to be helpful.) This issue occurs with almost any user OS X Snow Leopard who tries to use the Eclipse C/C++ IDE, but is particularly annoying for the people (like me) who were using the Eclipse C/C++ IDE in Leopard, and were unable to work with Eclipse anymore when they upgraded. The issue occurs When users go to build/compile/link their software. They get the following error: Launch Failed. Binary Not Found. Further, the "binaries" branch in the project window on the left is simply nonexistent. THE PROBLEM: is that GCC 4.2 (the GNU Compiler Collection) that comes with Snow Leopard compiles binaries in 64-bit by default. Unfortunately, the linker that Eclipse uses does not understand 64-bit binaries; it reads 32-bit binaries. There may be other issues here, but in short, they culminate in no binary being generated, at least not one that Eclipse can read, which translates into Eclipse not finding the binaries. Hence the error. One solution is to add an -arch i686 flag when making the file, but manually making the file every time is annoying. Luckily for us, Snow Leopard also comes with GCC 4.0, which compiles in 32 bits by default. So one solution is merely to link this as the default compiler. This is the way I did it. THE SOLUTION: The GCCs are in /usr/bin, which is normally a hidden folder, so you can't see it in the Finder unless you explicitly tell the system that you want to see hidden folders. Anyway, what you want to do is go to the /usr/bin folder and delete the path that links the GCC command with GCC 4.2 and add a path that links the GCC command with GCC 4.0. In other words, when you or Eclipse try to access GCC, we want the command to go to the compiler that builds in 32 bits by default, so that the linker can read the files; we do not want it to go to the compiler that compiles in 64 bits. The best way to do this is to go to Applications/Utilities, and select the app called Terminal. A text prompt should come up. It should say something like "(Computer Name):~ (Username)$ " (with a space for you user input at the end). The way to accomplish the tasks above is to enter the following commands, entering each one in sequence VERBATIM, and pressing enter after each individual line. cd /usr/bin rm cc gcc c++ g++ ln -s gcc-4.0 cc ln -s gcc-4.0 gcc ln -s c++-4.0 c++ ln -s g++-4.0 g++ Like me, you will probably get an error that tells you you don't have permission to access these files. If so, try the following commands instead: cd /usr/bin sudo rm cc gcc c++ g++ sudo ln -s gcc-4.0 cc sudo ln -s gcc-4.0 gcc sudo ln -s c++-4.0 c++ sudo ln -s g++-4.0 g++ Sudo may prompt you for a password. If you've never used sudo before, try just pressing enter. If that doesn't work, try the password for your main admin account. OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS You may be able to enter build variables into Eclipse. I tried this, but I don't know enough about it. If you want to feel it out, the flag you will probably need is -arch i686. In earnest, GCC-4.0 worked for me all this time, and I don't see any reason to switch now. There may be a way to alter the default for the compiler itself, but once again, I don't know enough about it. Hope this has been helpful and informative. Good coding!

• Ivy resolve not working with dynamic artifact

  I've been using Ivy a bit but I seem to still have a lot to learn. I have two projects. One is a web app and the other is a library upon which the web app depends. The set up is that the library project is compiled to a jar file and published using Ivy to a directory within the project. In the web app build file, I have an ant target that calls the Ivy resolve ant task. What I'd like to do is have the web app using the dynamic resolve mode during development (on developer's local machines) and default resolve mode for test and production builds. Previously I was appending a time stamp to the library archive file so that Ivy would notice changes in file when the web app tried to resolve its dependency on it. Within Eclipse this is cumbersome because, in the web app, the project had to be refreshed and the build path tweaked every time a new library jar was published. Publishing a similarly named jar file every time would, I figure, only require developers to refresh the project. The problem is that the web app is unable to retrieve the dynamic jar file.   I am attempting to have a ListBox of TextBoxes with click events. I have read that one way to achieve this was to have a list of Buttons and call ButtonBase.Click="" on the ListBox. • Better Way To Use C++ Named Parameter Idiom?

  I've been developing a GUI library for Windows (as a personal side project, no aspirations of usefulness). For my main window class, I've set up a hierarchy of option classes (using the Named Parameter Idiom), because some options are shared and others are specific to particular types of windows (like dialogs). The way the Named Parameter Idiom works, the functions of the parameter class have to return the object they're called on. The problem is that, in the hierarchy, each one has to be a different class -- the createWindowOpts class for standard windows, the createDialogOpts class for dialogs, and the like. I've dealt with that by making all the option classes templates. • Inheriting XML files and modifying values

  This is a question about concept. I have an XML file, let's call it base: <base id="default"> <tags> <tag>tag_one</tag> <tag>tag_two</tag> <tag>tag_three</tag> </tags> <data> <data_a>blue</data_a> <data_b>3</data_b> </data> </base> What I want to do is to be able to extend this XML in another file, modifying individual properties. For example, I want to inherit that file and make a new one with a different data/data_a node: <base id="green" import="default"> <data> <data_a>green</data_a> </data> </base> So far it's pretty simple, it replaces the old data/data_a with the new one. I even can add a new node: <base id="ext" import="default"> <moredata> <data>extended version</data> </moredata> </base> And still it's pretty simple. The problem comes when I want to delete a node or deal with XML Lists (like the tags node). How should I reference a particular index on a list? I was thinking doing something like: <base id="diffList" import="default"> <tags> <tag index="1">this is not anymore tag_two</tag> </tags> </base> And for deleting a node / array index: <base id="deleting" import="default"> <tags> <tag index="2"/> </tags> <data/> </base> <!-- This will result in an XML containing these values: --> <base> <tag>tag_one</tag> <tag>tag_two</tag> </base> But I'm not happy with my solutions. I don't know anything about XSLT or other XML transformation tools, but I think someone must have done this before. The key goal I'm looking for is ease to write the XML by hand (both the base and the "extended"). I'm open to new solutions besides XML, if they are easy to write manually. Thanks for reading.

I have read most of the book CakePHP's website. and googled for all I'm worth, so I presume I am missing something obvious! Every 'log item' belongs to a 'sub-project, which in turn belongs to a 'project', which in turn belongs to a 'sub-client' which finally belongs to a client. The Question When editing a 'log item' at www.mydomain/log_items/edit I am presented with the view you would all suspect; namely the columns of the log_items table with the appropriate textfields/select boxes etc. I would also like to incorporate select boxes to choose the client, sub-client, project and sub-project in the 'log_items' edit view. Ideally the 'sub-client' select box should populate itself depending upon the 'client' chosen, the 'project' select box should also populate itself depending on the 'sub-client' selected etc, etc. I guess the way to go about populating the select boxes with relevant options is Ajax, but I am unsure of how to go about actually accessing a model from the child view of a indirectly related model, for example how to create a 'sub-client' select box in the 'log_items' edit view. I have have found this example: http://forum.phpsitesolutions.com/php-frameworks/cakephp/ajax-cakephp-dynamically-populate-html-select-dropdown-box-t29.html where someone achieves something similar for US states, counties and cities. However, I noticed in the database schema - which is downloadable from the site above link - that the database tables don't have any foreign keys, so now I'm wondering if I'm going about things in the correct manner.   I've spent the majority of the past week knee deep in the new templating functionality baked into MVC2. I had a hard time trying to get a DropDownList template working. The biggest problem I've been working to solve is how to get the source data for the drop down list to the template. I saw a lot of examples where you can put the source data in the ViewData dictionary (ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"]) then retrieve them in the template itself (var sourceValues = ViewData["DropDownSourceValuesKey"];) This works, but I did not like having a silly string as the lynch pin for making this work. Below is an approach I've come up with and wanted to get opinions on this approach: here are my design goals: The view model should contain the source data for the drop down list Limit Silly Strings Not use ViewData dictionary Controller is responsible for filling the property with the source data for the drop down list Here's my View Model: public class CustomerViewModel { [ScaffoldColumn(false)] public String CustomerCode{ get; set; } [UIHint("DropDownList")] [DropDownList(DropDownListTargetProperty = "CustomerCode"] [DisplayName("Customer Code")] public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> CustomerCodeList { get; set; } public String FirstName { get; set; } public String LastName { get; set; } public String PhoneNumber { get; set; } public String Address1 { get; set; } public String Address2 { get; set; } public String City { get; set; } public String State { get; set; } public String Zip { get; set; } } My View Model has a CustomerCode property which is a value that the user selects from a list of values. I have a CustomerCodeList property that is a list of possible CustomerCode values and is the source for a drop down list. I've created a DropDownList attribute with a DropDownListTargetProperty. DropDownListTargetProperty points to the property which will be populated based on the user selection from the generated drop down (in this case, the CustomerCode property). Notice that the CustomerCode property has [ScaffoldColumn(false)] which forces the generator to skip the field in the generated output. My DropDownList.ascx file will generate a dropdown list form element with the source data from the CustomerCodeList property. The generated dropdown list will use the value of the DropDownListTargetProperty from the DropDownList attribute as the Id and the Name attributes of the Select form element. So the generated code will look like this: <select id="CustomerCode" name="CustomerCode"> <option>... </select> This works out great because when the form is submitted, MVC will populate the target property with the selected value from the drop down list because the name of the generated dropdown list IS the target property. I kinda visualize it as the CustomerCodeList property is an extension of sorts of the CustomerCode property. I've coupled the source data to the property. • activemq-maven-plugin ignore files in classpath?

  I have been trying to get activemq-maven-plugin to run activemq with configuration in classpath of the bundle. However, I don't have much luck. It seems that the activemq-maven-plugin just ignore resources (resources/main/conf/activemq.properties) the local bundle. I checked the jar and target/classes and they are built into the right local. I am able to get plugin to run (mvn activemq:run) if I take out the PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer bean in the activemq.xml Did I do anything wrong? • Elusive race condition in Java

  I am creating a graphing calculator. In an attempt to squeeze some more performance out of it, I added some multithreaded to the line calculator. Essentially what my current implementation does is construct a thread-safe Queue of X values, then start however many threads it needs, each one calculating a point on the line using the queue to get its values, and then ordering the points using a HashMap when the calculations are done. This implementation works great, and that's not where my race condition is (merely some background info). In examining the performance results from this, I found that the HashMap is a performance bottleneck, since I do that synchronously on one thread. So I figured that ordering each point as its calculated would work best. I tried a PriorityQueue, but that was slower than the HashMap. I ended up creating an algorithm that essentially works like this: I construct a list of X values to calculate, like in my current algorithm. I then copy that list of values into another class, unimaginatively and temporarily named BlockingList, which is responsible for ordering the points as they are calculated. BlockingList contains a put() method, which takes in two BigDecimals as parameters, the first the X value, the second the calculated Y value. put() will only accept a value if the X value is the next one on the list to be accepted in the list of X values, and will block until another thread gives it the next excepted value. For example, since that can be confusing, say I have two threads, Thread-1 and Thread-2. Thread-2 gets the X value 10.0 from the values queue, and Thread-1 gets 9.0. However, Thread-1 completes its calculations first, and calls put() before Thread-2 does. Because BlockingList is expecting to get 10.0 first, and not 9.0, it will block on Thread-1 until Thread-2 finishes and calls put(). Once Thread-2 gives BlockingList 10.0, it notify()s all waiting threads, and expects 9.0 next. This continues until BlockingList gets all of its expected values. (I apologise if that was hard to follow, if you need more clarification, just ask.) As expected by the question title, there is a race condition in here. If I run it without any System.out.printlns, it will sometimes lock because of conflicting wait() and notifyAll()s, but if I put a println in, it will run great. • Getting Rails Application Running Under IronRuby Rack

  Anyone else playing with ironruby? I have successfully got the IronRuby.Rails.Example project running on my local machine under IIS 5.1. I am now attempting to get my own demo rails site running in the same way. My web.config is slightly different from the example project. I am attempting to only use what was distributed with IronRuby 1.0 and what I have installed using gems. I am getting the following error which doesn't give me a lot to go on: D:/demo/config/boot.rb:66:in `exit': exit (SystemExit) After trying many different things, I think it is having a problem finding gems. I have added some logging to the decode() method of my custom component and I can see that the parameters entered by the user are being posted back with the request, however these parameters are not used to update the data model. Why does the test case with columns declared in the facelet page works correctly (ie the data model is correctly updated by JSF) where the same does not happen when the columns are created at runtime using the encodeBegin() method? Is there any method I need to invoke or interface I need to extend in order to ensure the data model is correctly updated? I am using this test case to address the issue that is appearing in a much more complex component, therefore I can't achieve the same functionality using a facelet composite component. • Avoiding Agnostic Jagged Array Flattening in Powershell

  Hello, I'm running into an interesting problem in Powershell, and haven't been able to find a solution to it. When I google (and find things like this post), nothing quite as involved as what I'm trying to do comes up, so I thought I'd post the question here. The problem has to do with multidimensional arrays with an outer array length of one. It appears Powershell is very adamant about flattening arrays like @( @('A') ) becomes @( 'A' ). Here is the first snippet (prompt is , btw): > $a = @( @( 'Test' ) ) > $a.gettype().isarray True > $a[0].gettype().isarray False So, I'd like to have $a[0].gettype().isarray be true, so that I can index the value as $a[0][0] (the real world scenario is processing dynamic arrays inside of a loop, and I'd like to get the values as $a[$i][$j], but if the inner item is not recognized as an array but as a string (in my case), you start indexing into the characters of the string, as in $a[0][0] -eq 'T'). I have a couple of long code examples, so I have posted them at the end. And, for reference, this is on Windows 7 Ultimate with PSv2 and PSCX installed. Consider code example 1: I build a simple array manually using the += operator. Intermediate array $w is flattened, and consequently is not added to the final array correctly. I have found solutions online for similar problems, which basically involve putting a comma before the inner array to force the outer array to not flatten, which does work, but again, I'm looking for a solution that can build arrays inside a loop (a jagged array of arrays, processing a CSS file), so if I add the leading comma to the single element array (implemented as intermediate array $y), I'd like to do the same for other arrays (like $z), but that adversely affects how $z is added to the final array. Now consider code example 2: This is closer to the actual problem I am having. When a multidimensional array with one element is returned from a function, it is flattened. It is correct before it leaves the function. And again, these are examples, I'm really trying to process a file without having to know if the function is going to come back with @( @( 'color', 'black') ) or with @( @( 'color', 'black'), @( 'background-color', 'white') ) Has anybody encountered this, and has anybody resolved this? I know I can instantiate framework objects, and I'm assuming everything will be fine if I create an object[], or a list<, or something else similar, but I've been dealing with this for a little bit and something sure seems like there has to be a right way to do this (without having to instantiate true framework objects).   Hi all New to wpf and therefore struggling a bit. I am putting together a quick demo before we go for the full implementation I have a treeview on the left with Continent Country City structure when a user select the city it should populate some textboxes in a tabcontrol on the right hand side I made it sort of work but cannot make it work with composite objects.
