• Can't make an array in C#

  I'm trying to make a dynamic array in C# but I get an annoying error message. Here's my code: private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { int[] dataArray; Random random = new Random(); for (int i = 0; i < random.Next(1, 10); i++) { dataArray[i] = random.Next(1, 1000); } } And the error: Use of unassigned local variable 'dataArray' This is just baffling my mind.   I have 2 forms, A and B. On the Form A, I click a button and an Image is being loaded to a PictureBox located ona the Form B. • Are stack based arrays possible in C#?

  Let's say, hypothetically (read: I don't think I actually need this, but I am curious as the idea popped into my head), one wanted an array of memory set aside locally on the stack, not on the heap. For instance, something like this: private void someFunction() { int[20] stackArray; //C style; I know the size and it's set in stone } I'm guessing the answer is no. All I've been able to find is heap based arrays. If someone were to need this, would there be any workarounds? Is there any way to set aside a certain amount of sequential memory in a "value type" way? Or are structs with named parameters the only way (like the way the Matrix struct in XNA has 16 named parameters (M11-M44))?

• MFC CTreeCtrl max visible item text length

  Hello I have an application that outputs large amounts of text data to an MFC tree control. When I call SetItemText() with a long string (larger then 1000+ char) only the first ~250 chars are displayed in the control. But when I call GetItemText() on the item the entire string is returned (1000+ chars) My questions are; Is there a MAX visible string length for a MFC tree control? Is there any way to increase the visible limit?   Hi, I m overriding a mousewheel event in vc++ class and try to trigger mousewheel event, but tat event is not getting triggered.   Hi, I read about Big-O Notation from here and had few questions on calculating the complexity.So for the below code i have calculated the complexity. need your inputs for the same. private void reverse(String strToRevers) { if(strToRevers.length() == 0) { return ; } else { reverse(strToRevers.substring(1)); System.out.print(strToRevers.charAt(0)); } } If the memory factor is considered then the complexity of above code for a string of n characters is O(n^2). The explanation is for a string that consists of n characters, the below function would be called recursively n-1 times and each function call creates a string of single character(stringToReverse.charAT(0)). Hence it is n*(n-1)*2 which translates to o(n^2). Let me know if this is right ?

  I'm using Netbeans IDE to make a gui application. I have a JFrame with a JPanel inside it. After a button click I want to display a different JPanel inside the first. The other JPanel is in a different file. How would I go about doing this? If this is not practical I don't mind replacing the first JPanel with the second one.   Hello friends, I have a formview on my aspx page containing various controls arranged using table. There is a DDL "cboClients" which i need to enable or disabled depending upon role within Edit mode. The problem here is that i am not able to get that control using FindControl() method.   Hi All, I am using XStream to serialize my Objects to XML format. The formatted xml that I get is as below: node1, node2, node 3 are attributes of pojo,DetailDollars DetailDollars node1 100 /node1 node2 25 /node2 node3 10 /node3 /DetailDollars I have requirement where in I have to calucluate a percentage, for example 100/ 25 and add the new node to the existing ones. So, the final output should be : DetailDollars node1 100 /node1 node2 25 /node2 node3 10 /node3 node4 4 /node4 DetailDollars I wrote a custom converter and registered to my xstream object. public void marshal(..){ writer.startNode("node4"); writer.setValue(getNode1()/ getnode2() ); writer.endNode(); } But, the xml stream I get has only the new node: DetailDollars node4 4 /node4 /DetailDollars I am not sure which xstream api would get me the desired format. could you please help me with this .   I'm using Google Test Framework to set some unit tests. I have got three projects in my solution: FN (my project) FN_test (my tests) gtest (Google Test Framework) I set FN_test to have FN and gtest as references (dependencies), and then I think I'm ready to set up my tests (I've already set everyone to /MTd (not doing this was leading me to linking errors before)). Particularly, I define a class called Embark in FN I would like to test using FN_test. So far, so good. • Exceptions silently caught by Windows, how to handle manually?

  We're having problems with Windows silently eating exceptions and allowing the application to continue running, when the exception is thrown inside the message pump. For example, we created a test MFC MDI application, and overrode OnDraw: void CTestView::OnDraw(CDC* /*pDC*/) { *(int*)0 = 0; // Crash CTestDoc* pDoc = GetDocument(); ASSERT_VALID(pDoc); if (!pDoc) return; // TODO: add draw code for native data here } You would expect a nasty error message when running the application, but you actually get nothing at all. The program appears to be running perfectly well, but if you check the output window you will see: First-chance exception at 0x13929384 in Test.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0x00000000. First-chance exception at 0x77c6ee42 in Test.exe: 0xC0150010: The activation context being deactivated is not active for the current thread of execution. I know why I'm receiving the application context exception, but why is it being handled silently? It means our applications could be suffering serious problems when in use, but we'll never know about it, because our users will never report any problems.

• Marshal struct to unmanaged array

  Hi guys, I have a C# struct to represent a cartesian vector, something like this: public struct Vector { private double x; private double y; private double z; //Some properties/methods } Now I have an unmanaged C dll that I need to call with P/Invoke. Some methods expect a double[3] parameter. The unmanaged C signature is something like void Cross(double a[3], double b[3], double c[3]); Is there any way to set up a P/Invoke signature so I can pass instances of my Vector struct and marshal them transparently to unmanaged double[3]? I would also need bidirectional marshaling as the unmanaged function needs to write the output to the argument array, so I guess I would need to marshal as LpArray. Any ideas? Thanks Pedro

• Is there a way to add name/value functionality to jquery autocomplete for .net?

  I've recently added the JQuery autocomplete plug in and have a textbox that autocompletes a list of employees. It works great and I commend the authors of the plugin. I think the textbox would be MUCH more useful though, when upon selecting, we can extract the StaffID (Ie. retreive the value of the selection). My code is below and you can see that I am simply adding the staff names, would be nice to associate IDs. Does anyone know of any way to do this?   I am trying to add files to an existing zip file. Whenever i do, the new one contains the new list of files im passing in, but all of the previous ones are wiped out.
