  I have looked everywhere, and to use Cassandra from Erlang you end up having to download (amongst others): boost thrift : and then you have generate the erlang library by hand, and then copy lib files and beams files. Once you have the whole thing working there is absolutely zero documentation anywhere. If anyone could show me some user friendly documentation it would be much appreciated.

• What is the best way to manage unix process from java?

  I'm looking for some simple tasks like listing all the running process of a user, or kill a particular process by pid etc. Basic unix process management from Java. Is there a library out there that is relatively mature and documented? I could run a external command from the JVM and then parse the standard output/error but that seems like a lot of work and not robust at all. Any suggestions?

  I am using Mac OS X 10.6 and installed MAMP and Tomcat. My Tomcat is installed in /Users/(userID)/Tomcat I can start Tomcat server in Terminal without a problem But it cannot be started automatically when Mac OS X is boot up. I put a file org.apache.tomcat.plist in /Library/LaunchDaemons Disabled Label org.apache.tomcat ProgramArguments /Users/henryfok/Tomcat/bin/startup.sh RunAtLoad Any hint ?

• How to compress/decompress a long query string in PHP?

  I doubt if this is encryption but I can't find a better phrase. I need to pass a long query string like this: http://test.com/test.php?key=[some_very_loooooooooooooooooooooooong_query_string] The query string contains NO sensitive information so I'm not really concerned about security in this case. It's just...well, too long and ugly. Is there a library function that can let me encode/encrypt/compress the query string into something similar to the result of a md5() (similar as in, always a 32 character string), but decode/decrypt/decompress-able?

• Any way to make DataContractJsonSerializer serialize Dictionaries properly?

  The DataContractJsonSerializer is not able to serialize Dictionaries properly. Whereas JavaScriptSerializer serializes Dictionaries as {"abc":"xyz","def":42} for example, the DataContractJsonSerializer gives [{"Key":"abc","Value":"xyz"},{"Key":"def","Value":42}] instead. This is really problematic and I want to know how can I serialize Dictionary objects correctly in my WCF service. Nowhere is it made clear what page is being referenced. Can someone help me?   Hi, Hopefully someone has come across this before. I'm running Spring STS 2.3.0 and when attempting to use the @Resource annotation from javax.annotations.Resource I get "Access restriction: The type Resource is not accessible due to restriction on required library". I'm using the JDK 6u18. I've tried changing the JDK Compliance to 1.5 and 1.6 and both yield the same error. Cheers, -Ed

  i am trying to compile a c-based forms api program on Linux x86_64 using command gcc -m32 -I"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/api" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/forms/lib" -L"$ORACLE_HOME/lib" -ld2f fapi.c it fails with a bunch of undefined references. $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `sifom' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `idfrsti' $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libd2f.so: undefined reference to `simmal' etc... does anyone know the list of all the library files i need to add?
