• Proper chart scaling in Reporting Services 2005

  I'm developing a simple bar-chart in Reporting Services 2005 with a stored procedure as data-source. The values in this graph can be both positive and negative, and can span a very big range, and hence I cannot specify any non-dynamic scale that will work for all scenarios. The problem I'm facing is that the automatic scaling pretty much sucks. I get no line to show where the zero-point is, and the y-scale labels are from top to bottom: 8818 -191181 -391181 etc etc... So my question is, what is the best approach to make the scale more adapted to human reading? Is there any guide out there? Does reporting services 2008 handle this better? Also, moving away from Reporting Services is not really an option. I realize how to put values and expression in the max, min, and the gridline interval fields, although its more of a question what expressions I should put there.

• "Zooming" elements on a page while keeping the centre of enlargement in the centre of the window

  I'm trying to work out how to enlarge all elements on a page, but keep the centre of enlargement in the centre of the window. Example Page (up and down arrows to resize the image, you can also drag the image around) On this page, once the image reaches the top or the left side of the window the centre of enlargement changes. It also changes when you move the image. (exactly what you would expect) I'm thinking I'd need to take a completely different approach to achieve what I want. But I'm not sure what that approach is.. Any ideas?

• Can anyone explain how to configure the title of my block? I can configure "teaser" and "image", but not "title".

  In content management, I want to configure the title of my block. I do not want the title to show up on the top of the actual page (I want it to show up just in the sidebar where the viewer can click on it). I want a different title on the page that it goes to after clicking the sidebar block. How do I do that? There is no configure button for "title", but there is one for "teaser" and "image". I have little experience with computers, so any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

After K steps, output the number of objects of the top five nodes which has the most objects. Some Constrains: |V|<10^5, |E|<2*10^5, K<10^7, Ci<1000 My current idea is: represent the transformation in each step with a matrix. This problem is converted to the calculation of the power of matrix. But this solution is much too slow considering |V| can be 10^5. Is there any faster way to do it?

• Is pthread_spin_trylock safe inside of sigsegv handler of multithreaded application?

  I am trying to implement a handler that on SIGSEGV will collect some information such as process-id, thread-id and a backtrace and write this information to a file/pipe/socket. The problem lies in that there is the (probably pretty high) possibility that if one thread experienced a SIGSEGV that the others will shortly follow. If two threads happen to make it to the bit of code where they're writing their report out at the same time then they'll interleave their writing (to the same file). I know that I should only be using async-signal-safe functions as detailed in signal(7) I also have seen at least two cases here and video linked in top answer here where others have used pthread_spin_trylock to get around this problem. Is this a safe way to prevent the above problem?

• UiScrollView with scrolling content

  I have a detail page of type UIScrollView. On it I want an optional UIImageView and a mandatory UITextView. If no image is available then the image view should not take any space. The text for the text view can be of varying sizes. When the view is loaded with, say, the image and the text I need to be able to scroll through all the contents. So the image slips off the top of the screen. I just can't get this work and I feel it ought to be easy. Any ideas?

  I put a wpf textbox inside a combobox to allow the user to enter a custom setting. I can read the keypress in the keydown event, but the text in the textbox does not change.   hi, i have a company table that is dbo.companies and has companyId as a column. I also have an invoice table that is dbo.invoices with invoicecompanyId column (which is the same as the companyId on the other table) and it also has a column called invoicedate.   Hi, I want to grab the image src on a product page in a e commerce website. I'm writing this as a bookmarklet, so I'd like the code to work universally as possible. I've noticed that there are only two reoccurring factors in the product image tag among top e-commerce websites (amazon, bestbuy ect.): border=0 and 180<width&height<400. So how could I write a selector that would give me the srcof the first img element on the page with no border and width & height between 180 and 400 px? Or is there a better way of doing this? P.S. since I'm trying to keep the bookmarklet as light as possible, I don't want to use any libraries (jquery, yui etc)

  Sorry for such a simple question but I can't seem to find the solution. I am trying to fade in and out some divs. Divs have an ID of "div1", "div2", "div3". My code is: var Divs = new Array("div1", "div2", "div3"); I want to fade out one div and then fade in the next on top of it. I have a setinterval that runs every 5 seconds and checked it works. Inside it is this code: $(Divs[1]).fadeOut(1000); $(Divs[2]).fadeIn(1000); However nothing happens when the timer method is ran. Any ideas?

• How to distribute the chance to display each SWF evenly among banner collection?

  Hi all: I am working on The ausdcf.org to try adding several banner ads in swf format to the top. Everything starts to work, but I've got several questions that need your help: The client chose not to go with Google AdManager, but prefer a "minimal approach" to do this task. What I am trying to do is sort of "mimicking" the way Google AdManager does for banners, that is, to split the chance of each particular swf to be shown to the visitor evenly among the banner collection. Definitely I can add some jQuery code to do this from client-side, a random number generator and if-else statement would work - just $.load() it! However, what if I'd like to make sure those disabled Javascript (is there any now btw?) still be able to see different swfs in each visit. Any suggestion on how to approach this?   I was about to redo a Rails site today using AJAX so that the background could remain in place. Then I thought, "that would be exactly like using frames," and then I thought about SEO consequences and I dropped the idea entirely and took a look around the Web. It turns out that few sites -- except for Google itself, which has the link bar at the top -- are doing this. It doesn't look impossible to do, but it's not exactly easy. Aside from Ajaxing, you have to think about updating the query-string and having SEO-friendly links (that actually don't work, but rather make background requests via Javascript). Will any of the new technologies -- HTML5, perhaps -- solve this problem and allow us to have a Web with background colors (and other static elements) that do not disappear momentarily between page refreshes? On the other hand, why are few devs doing this with current technologies? Is it just not a big deal, too complicated to implement, or....?

• Flipping an image using a one dimensional array of characters.

  I have the data of an image loaded into memory as a one dimensional array. Since I'm trying to use OpenGL to draw it, and since it reads from the bottom up, I want to try and flip the elements of the array before they're sent to OpenGL. Maybe there's a way to tell OpenGL to read from the top to the bottom? Anyways, I tried using a few methods of sorting arrays and they also flip the image horizontally, which is very much like the original problem. So can I flip the data only one way?

• How would I get an img element to render under a background-image in CSS.

  Basically, I am trying to put a semi-transparent div over an image to serve as a background for text for a slideshow. Unfortunately, the browser seems intent on always rendering the img over the background-image. Is there any way to fix this? Here is my current CSS for the semi-transparent div: #slideshow .info { height: 80px; margin-top: -80px; background: url(../../images/slideshow-info-pixel.png) repeat; } ... with slideshow-info-pixel.png being a single pixel, 50% opacity, PNG 24. I have so far tried z-index and the CSS must be compatible with IE6.

  Hi, I am using tabs in my application. I have 3 tabs : home, services, contact us. In the 'home tab', there is 'login button' and my requirement is when I click the login button, it should display the view for 'login' in the same tab itself. That means it should start another activity (login.class) and display corresponding view (login.xml). And the tabs should be displayed at the top as before. But when I click the login button, it should start login activity, but the tabs are disappeared. How can I start an activity in the same tab itself? Please help me. Thank you...

  Hello. I am a student programmer who has taken up Objective-C on my free time as my college doesn't teach it. We have only used Java and basic C so far. I am in the middle of making a program for the iPod and was wondering if there was any type of way to call a method in a class similar to the way a Focus Listener does in Java? I have a view that I would like to call a refresh method (to update the newly inputted titles of buttons from another view) when the view is put at the top and visible again. Is this too easy or is there a more methodical way of doing that? I have tried to just call the method from the other view class but it does not seem to work (says the other class is either undefined or may not accept the method call and crashes on execution).   I have a stored procedure on a busy database which constantly come out top in the list of expensive queries (by some way). The query is very simple, it takes a single parameter (@ID, int) which is the primary key of the table, and selects the record that matches that ID. The primary key is an identity field with a clustered index, so I am stumped as to how to optimise this any further?
