• What's the best practice or design pattern for user registration ?

  We have a big portal that needs user registration to allow them use its services. It's already done in .NET and SOL Server 2005. we are in the phase now of discovering all the problems of the current registration system to build a new robust flexible one that can be extended easily and can be more usable for all services.   I've got a piece of tracking code which is capturing REMOTE_HOST, SERVER, REQUEST_METHOD, SCRIPT_NAME and QUERY_STRING. It grabs these from ServerVariables and sticks them in a database by user and IP. What is the best way to pick up the exact contents of what was posted back to a URL in ASP.NET? Is there an HTTP_POST? I'd rather not grab something and then have to parse it.

  If my class has NO destructor, an it goes out of scope. GC runs at certain time, now will it simply reclaim memory from my class OR will it call its destructor or Finalize () on it ? And does the .net framework class like SQLConnection implement a destructor? I saw it has a Dispose () implementation but didn't see the destructor using "Go to definition".

When I'd view my page I'd still see a ViewState field rendered, I then tried adding the ViewStateMode="Disabled" to the page level also but that didn't change anything.

  Hi, I couldn't find anything through Google, I suppose the search terms are too much to handle. The VS built-in help only explains <%, which is just embedded code. There is no mention of <%: EDIT: My book says, that the only difference is that <%: returns a MvcHtmlString. Why do we need an extra symbol for <%: just to return something? Thanks for any help! It would really help me to understand asp.net.
