  Hi, I have to run a tool on around 300 directories. Each run take around 1 minute to 30 minute or even more than that. So, I wrote a python script having a loop to run the tool on all directories one after another. my python script has code something like: for directory in directories: os.popen('runtool_exec ' + directory) But when I run the python script I get the following error messages repeatedly: .. tail: write error: Broken pipe date: write error: Broken pipe .. All I do is login on a remote server using ssh where the tool, python script, and subject directories are kept. When I individually run the tool from command prompt using command like: runtool_exec directory it works fine. "broken pipe" error is coming only when I run using the python script. Any idea, workaround? Please suggest. Thanks. Fahim

• Text formatting within textarea

  Variations on my problem have been discussed elsewhere, so I hope I'm not duplicating! I'm implementing a simple Private Messaging System as part of a web app. I've got an annoying problem though when dynamically inserting text into a textarea box in order to make a reply. Getting the content and displaying it is fine, but I can't work out how to format it correctly. Obviously, I can't use html tags, but plain text formatting like line breaks and carriage returns seem to be ignored too. This happens when an existing message is being displayed either as part of a reply or as a thread in a new message. How do I check what formatting is being saved in my db? Or indeed what formatting is being sent back from my db?!

  There is another way to load MSHTML documents without use Application.ProcessMessages? To load a document into a IHTMLDocument I need to do this: while Doc.readyState <> 'complete' do Application.ProcessMessages; I want not to process all the message queue during the loading, because I would be changing my application flow, in other words, some messages that should be processed after the loading to be completed can be processed earlier, even before the loading end. There is a special message code that the IHTMLDocument expect to advance in the loading process? Or there is another way to load? Thanks.

• WCF Paged Results & Data Export

  I've walked into a project that is using a WCF service for the data tier. Currently, when data is needed for a grid, all rows are returned and the results are bound to a grid and the dataset is stuffed into a session variable for paging/sorting/rebinding. We've already hit a max message size problem, so I'm thinking it's time to convert from fetch and cache to fetch only the current page. Face value this seems easy enough, but there's a small catch. The user is allowed to export the entire result set at any point. This means that for grid viewing purposes fetching the current page is fine, but when they want to do an export, I still need to make a call for all data. This puts me back into the max message size issue. What is the recommended approach for this type of setup? We are currently using the wsHttpBinding... Thanks for any assistance.

  Can anyone, please, explain to me how to transform a phrase like "I want to buy some milk" into MD5? I read Wikipedia article on MD5, but the explanation given there is beyond my comprehension: "MD5 processes a variable-length message into a fixed-length output of 128 bits. The input message is broken up into chunks of 512-bit blocks (sixteen 32-bit little endian integers)" "sixteen 32-bit little endian integers" is already hard for me. I checked the article on little endians and didn't understand a bit. However, the examples of some phrases and their MD5 hashes are very nice: MD5("The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog") = 9e107d9d372bb6826bd81d3542a419d6 MD5("The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.") = e4d909c290d0fb1ca068ffaddf22cbd0 Can anyone, please, explain to me how this MD5 algorithm works on some very simple example? And also, perhaps you know some software or a code that would transform phrases into their MD5. If yes, please, let me know.

  My .net app generates messages which it sends via the google hosted mailserver. I'd link to track the results so I can see bounced and invalid domain messages. How (and/or where) do i embed something in either the body or another element of the message that lets me link the original message with any and all following smtp traffic? Is the problem is complicated by the fact that out-going is handled by googlemail? Native IIS services running under winserver08. logparser should be an integral part of my solution, shouldn't it? thx

• Delphi overwrite existing file on save dialog

  Hello everyone, I am using the TSaveDialog component to save a file from a button click. However, I am having trouble with saving on an existing file name. Generally, when you want to save over an existing file in Windows, a message box pops up asking you if you really want to overwrite the file. This is not the case with the TSaveDialog component and it will go ahead and write over the file without asking. I was hoping there was a TSaveDialog function or event that I could use but I have not seen anything that looks like it handles this. So it could be that I simplely haven't found the correct method to use. If there is an event, I could use if FileExists(saveDialog.FileName) then //and so forth but the events TSaveDialog has are OnCanClose, OnClose, OnFolderChange, OnIncludeItem, OnSelectionChange, OnShow, OnTypeChange... My question is, how do I pop up a message box to ask the user if they want to overwrite the existing file using the TSaveDialog component. Thanks.

  I have a form which a user can fill in x times with the data they want too. The form is posted to the following Action. However the view holds the data from the previously submitted form. Any ideas why? I have debugged the code and checked that the RetModel variable is empty.

  I've been building a framework and writing unit tests in GHUnit. One of my Framework's accessor methods returns an NSInteger. I assert the expected value in the tests like this: GHAssertEquals(1320, request.port, @"Port number should be 1320"); When running my tests with an AppKit UI based frontend this assertion passes. However, when I run my tests on the command line, it fails with a type-mismatch unless I type-cast my hard-coded 1320 as (NSInteger). What's causing the difference in the way the integer is being interpreted by the compiler? Is xcodebuild on the command line using a different data-type for hard coded integers?

Can't exec "simple2.pl": No such file or directory at scripts/perl/simple2.pl line 9. Not very useful for the user calling simple2.pl. Is there a way to get a more useful message?

• Inserting snippets from macros

  In Visual Studio 2008 I had a macro which would insert a snippet and input today's date in one of the replacements. When I try to run this macro in VS 2010 it doesn't work. No matter how I try it will not insert a snippet. When I try the following command: DTE.ExecuteCommand("Edit.InvokeSnippetFromShortcut", "snippetName") This fails with error "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component. I tried recording a new macro and when I pressed the keyboard shortcut for inserting a snippet (Ctrl+K, Ctrl+X) VS gave the error "The command Insert Snippet is not currently available." Did MS remove the ability to insert snippets from macros? If so this really is a shame because macros have functionality not found in snippets and vice versa.

After signing, the message and the signature are transmitted via a webservice (.net) to the server. Everything is fine until this point. on the server, the XML shall be included in another XML-document, which is publicly accessible. The signature should be published as well in order to grant non-repudiation. Q: Is there a smooth option to convert the detached Pkcs#7 into XML-DSIG (e.g. functionality within the .net framework)?   I have installed Ubuntu Server 10.10 and I am using it to host a domain that I have. I am trying to set up FTP for the server, but I am running into some problems. I have successfully installed vsFTPd and I have opened up ports 20, 21 on my firewall. In my vsFTPd configuration, I have enabled SSL. Every time I try to connect to my server via FTP, I receive a "Connection Refused" error. I have had a little more success with SSL disabled, however the connection process will time out after the LIST command (but it does accept my authentication). • How to use sudo with WinSCP and ProFTPd?

  I need to run the SFTP fileserver binary as root, but direct root login is not allowed. In WinSCP, if I use "default" on SFTP server protocol option everything works as expected. Following the instructions to sudo in WinSCP, I tried using "sudo /usr/sbin/proftpd" (works on the command line without any prompts) but it brings up "Cannot initialize SFTP protocol. Is the host running a SFTP server?" How to use sudo with WinSCP and ProFTPd?   I was using \documentclass{amsmath} for awhile with no issues, but I recently wanted to switch to the normal \documentclass{article} because I thought it looked nicer. However, now my \tableofcontents command produces this error: ! Undefined control sequence. <argument> \tocsection {}{1}{Purpose} l.1 ...ne {section}{\tocsection {}{1}{Purpose}}{4} ? I'm writing a research paper with latex, and Purpose is the first section (the command I'm using is \section{Purpose}). It's saying line 1 has the error, which is \documentclass{article}. Can anyone help me with this error?

  I'm using Visual Studio .NET 2003 to develop a COM ATL application in unmanaged Visual C++. I've created a ATL Dialag and whenever I try to add a variable for a control the wizard thorws the message "Object required". I've tried the following alternatives: Right click in the control to call "Add variable" from there: this way the wizard does not thorws the message but the variable is not created. This post, but it is for VS2005. Does anyone knows any work-around-around for this problem? Or what the wizard actually does so I can do it manually?

  I'm trying to get Python socket working as an alternative to calling the command line socat.
